Disappointed in Siosi. He was very nice and professional, felt like he was trustworthy. Unfortunately, he did not complete the job that was stated in his proposal. He did trim my mango tree but failed to cut some of the roots that was lifting up my sidewalk foundation. I paid him before the job was completed, before I checked his work, which was my fault. I checked his work after he left with his crew and noticed the roots were not cut. I texted him to question if he was going to cut the roots and he said "no". I sent him a copy of his proposal and emphasized the "cutting of the roots from the foundation" as an additional cost and part of the complete job. He said he"ll do it when he came back to do some additional work for the other half of the property which belongs to another family member. This additional work wouldn't happen until next year so a kindly asked Siosi if would come asap to complete the job. I never heard from him again. I'm using someone else to do the remaining work on my families property. Unfortunately he is not a man of his word. read more

Siosi and his crew was very friendly and did an awesome job of clearing part of my Property on the hill side which was pretty steep, they cleared my property from all the trees and shrubs, This one tree was about 3 stories high, It was in my neighbors property, blocking all our views to the Koolau mountians, he dragged all the cut branches to my side, and everything was cleared away, This one tree was blocking my view, and it was on my neighbors property, all branch cuts that fell into my neighbors Property, he said he doesn't want any branches on his hill side, He has no access to his property, I thought my neighbor would be very appreciative that his trees were also cut down at my cost. Siosi, owner of Ofa Landscaping is highly unreliable, poor customer service, concrete work he and his team provided was below average and the clean up was unacceptable. Background: September 2019, this business was hired to do a large concrete project. It was to provide walk way surrounding my entire house with mutual understanding that they must consider adding flagstone on top of their concrete job in a few years. They did not. The job came out poorly. I reluctantly paid him in full which I regret. He agreed to return to repair his mistakes when I'm ready to do the flagstone. Concrete Mistakes/Problems from Ofa Landscaping: 1. Concrete walkway was built too high in multiple areas. They did not take into consideration of the future flagstone project. 2. Significant flooding occurred in my carport when it rains because Ofa Landscaping poured the concrete too high next to the existing carport concrete. 3. Crooked walk way. They did return and tried to make it better. It didn't work since the concrete had already cured. The crookedness is permanent. 4. Concrete splatter. There was large amount of concrete splattered all over the drywall and footing throughout my house where they poured the concrete. It made the project looked so unprofessional. They did not do much to to rectify this situation. Very disappointed. 5. Siosi agreed to return to shave/repair the concrete where it's needed as they built it too high. I wrote our agreement on my final payment check to Siosi. It was to hold our agreement accountable in writing. Current situation (4/12 - 9/24/2023): In April this year, I reached out to Siosi, asking him to return to fulfill the concrete work that we agreed upon and showed him a copy of the check with our agreement written on it. Over the last 5+ months, Siosi rescheduled our appointments 10 times due to various excuses. They range from he is too busy with other jobs, he has family obligations such as is going to church, attending family party, his workers stayed up too late from partying and can't work the next day, covid illness himself and his worker that took over 2 months to recover, etc. It was disappointing to keep hearing his excuses. I took off multiple days off from work to be home on our scheduled appt dates. He frequently informs me the last minute or just no show, leaving me hanging. I rescheduled 2 times with him and I always kept him informed ahead of time. I understand my repair job is not a big project for his business now. He already got paid from our original project but any ethical business would honor their agreement with their client. He did not. I have included some pictures and text messages that he and I exchanged since April to substantiate my situation. Bottom, I DO NOT RECOMMEND OFA LANDSCAPING. THIS BUSINESS IS UNPROFESSIONAL. 11-30-2020 I checked on Yelp for tree trimmers and sent in a request for a quote from this business after reading the reviews as soon as I woke up this morning. I received a notification on email through Yelp that my request was viewed at 5:35 a.m. yes! Being the type of person I am, called the number from Yelp and spoke to the owner, Siosi at 8 a.m. once open. A very friendly and likeable Siosi agreed to come over between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. I was blown away when Hubs said he's here. How do you know? (as rambunctious fur baby hadn't made a fast alarming dash to the door). He said I saw his truck. Immediately I got a phone call informing me that Siosi had arrived. So efficient! We looked over the repair needed on our moss rock wall and what trees I needed trimmed down to 5 feet. We walked the perimeter of the yard. I asked him when he could do the job. He said this week. Excited hooray going off in my head. As we walked back to the front yard I asked for his quote. In my younger days I'd always call for 3 estimates on any job but now thanks to Yelp and the reviews, in 2020 this is the 2 Nd job I went with just one business based on what I read and the bond I felt with the owner. I contacted Siosi on a Monday for an estimate to have our mango and avocado trees trimmed. He was able to come that afternoon for a site inspection and verbally gave us a quote. I asked for it to be provided via email and he quickly did so and without me asking, also included a copy of his Certificate of Liability Insurance and Contractors License Board Certificate. On the day of the job, his workers arrived 15 minutes early to prep and at 8:00am on the dot, someone was at my front door asking if they could begin working. By 2:00pm, both trees had been trimmed and all the debris cleared. WHERE did all the 5 star reviews come from? I was so excited to finally get my overgrown backyard manageable after a back injury let it get away from me. Two companies called/emailed and took pics for an 'emailed estimate in a couple days'--then I never heard from them again. This one? Called/emailed/made appointment and then called wanting an earlier one on my landline when I was out but made sure to be here earlier than the appointed time--at the time he wanted to be here was an 2 hour early+ message on my landline x 2. My app stated my ADDRESS, landline no cell dead zone, windward. He acted like he didn't know I was on the Windward side when he called back right after assuring me he was 'on his way' and...yep... Cancelled. Strike one. Rescheduled for the next day and he called and hem'd and hawed (late again) and rescheduled again to today. THIS TIME HE NEVER BOTHERED TO CALL AND BAIL. I called him one hour++ after our appointment and he began with "OOh...my bad..."and started ANOTHER excuse...to which I interrupted him and said "NO. This is THREE excuses, THREE cancellations, THREE days I have changed MY schedule to wait for you=3 strikes!? You are O-U-T. Goodbye. And I hung up before he could give me yet another LAME excuse. Received a quick response for estimate for removal of huge Haden mango tree and non-productive lychee tree and trimming of Piri mango tree in our backyard in Kailua.  Cost was reasonable compared to other estimates.  Work was scheduled but Siosi texted that they had an opening to start earlier.  We were hesitant, since we were on vacation on another island; but we decided on rely upon Siosi's integrity.  Siosi updated us constantly with photos during the two days of work.  His crew cut down the two trees and ground the stumps while being careful not to damage the roots of the Piri mango tree. I needed to remove a fairly large tree from my front yard so asked for quotes. I needed someone to remove the tree and the surface roots that were starting to crack the wall and damage my lawnmower. Ofa came out the next day and gave us a very reasonable quote. He also scheduled us for the next morning. That morning the tree was removed and the stump and roots were ground down and the holes were filled in. They also went the extra mile by positioning the 400 lb grinder on a slope so all of the stump could be ground down. They also ground down another tree stump in the area for no extra fee. We previously hired Siosi to remove a few trees and a row of hedges, so we reached out to him again about covering our entire front lawn with pet-safe artificial turf (for drought and dog reasons). He always responds very quickly by text or email and gave us a quote within a few days. The entire process of removing the old grass, leveling, applying gravel and sand, and laying down the turf took less than a week. He also convinced us to fix the surrounding rock walls, which were cracked (and crumbling in one part), so we wouldn't have to dig up the artificial turf later to fix the wall. His prices are very reasonable and his workers are friendly and efficient. I appreciate all the work he's done for our yard and will continue to hire him in the future! Worked with my husband on a reasonable quote to prune our guava tree and also cut down a tall papaya tree.
