It's a bird! it's a plane! No, it's MONKEY MAN!!! if you are looking for tree service, look no further! Everything regarding service requested, quality and value were all completed at a high level of excellence. This is only about the third yelp review I have ever done even though I use yelp often. I rarely take the time to write reviews unless it is truly phenomenal and monkey man definitely deserves my time and an outstanding review! First of all, his reviews already spoke for themselves, so I took his impeccable history and decided to give him a call. I then realized that I didn't need to look into any other vendors because this was the guy I needed. When I called him, he answered the phone and willingly offered to help out. He was willing to come that same day or later in the week, but that wasn't going to work for me so we were able to plan for the next week. Don't forget to message and follow up with him because he's a busy man! On the day of the project he was a little behind, but nothing crazy, and I rather have someone with a great attitude and very reasonable price versus someone more prompt but charges an arm and a leg. The most impressive characteristic about monkey man is that he was willing to support the youth that we were sending to a conference. I ended up giving him more $ than he requested because I know the job he did was way beyond what he asked. I looked into renting a lift, but that was really pricey, and I would still need to get a chainsaw and be careful with the neighbors property and cable wires so it was definitely a wise choice to hire a professional like the monkey man versus trying to possibly save money but risk my life or potentially damaging my neighbors property or something else! I've cut many trees myself, but not one of this size so having monkey man was well worth it. He even went the extra mile to make some cutting boards for the neighbors who requested. I cannot guarantee that he will do the same favors for you/your neighbors; however, I have confidence he will provide his best service at a reasonable price & I do not believe that you will be disappointed. Bottom line: I just wanna give a big MAHALO to Monkey Man and look forward to hopefully doing more business in the future. God bless you! read more

I've been wanting to cut the tall areca palms down from my backyard for a while now. I reached out to Monkey Man Tree Care via their website form. Derek gave me a call and left a message (I wasn't available to answer) and asked to send him photos of what I want done. I sent him a video and explained what I was looking to get done. He was able to give me an estimate based on the video I sent. As they were in the area, he gave me a call asking if I had some time today to come by with the crew. They called after their job was done and came by and cut down all of my tall trees. They were really efficient and cleaned up really really well, including taking a pile of leaves (from the palms) that I had left for the next green waste day. Although they were using my green bin to haul green waste out to their trucks, they emptied it all into their trucks and left my bin empty. The back where they were working as well as the front where they cut the trees into smaller pieces to load were cleaned up really well before leaving. Highly recommend!! read more

We are so pleased to find our new tree guy! Deriek (Monkey Man) and his team were efficient, professional and really knew their stuff. You can tell they love plants. They pruned the trees and shrubs to encourage proper growth and away from the neighbors property (always be a good neighbor :-) We look forward to working with them regularly. read more

Great communication and quick work. They came to trim my avocado tree. Cleaned up all of the mess they made and left the yard spotless

I was looking for a guy to trim back our pepper tree. I ended up hiring him to do the one tree and others in our yard. He did it all for a reasonable price and hauled away all the trimmings. Tree and yard were as promised. Just 4 stars because he did not keep the dates we agreed on and he didn't return for a touch up as promised. read more

I was recommended by a friend of mine to reach out to Derek. I was skeptical at first on hiring anyone to do my parent's yard. I heard horror stories about how people would take their time to finish a job and ask for more money. Derek was not one of those horror stories. He was honest through out the whole process. Maybe a little forgetful, but a real expert because he has been doing this for a looonnngggg time. Before he started working on the yard, he talked about how he would cut the big tree, get all the small thin trees out of the way, take out all the green waste, and even trim the mango tree (I didn't even think of trimming the mango tree at first! Lol). You can tell that Derek really cared and wanted to help us. His price was extremely reasonable and worked with the budget that I gave him. Derek estimated the whole job would take about 4-5 days, but in reality it took 3 days. He had about 4-6 workers with him and they were FAST. I couldn't believe how efficient they were and even cleaned up some rubbish that were around the yard. Derek is the main guy when climbing the big trees. You can tell by watching that he knows what to do once he is in the tree. He knew how to cut each branches while still being cautious of his surrounding. Once they were done, Derek gave us come recommendation on what we could do next for landscaping. And a couple referral for doing the cement and stairs. Very grateful for Derek and his team! Now my parents and I can start the next project! :) read more

MonkeyMan Tree Care - Tree Services Near Me - Aiea, Hawaii

It's really hard to find a reliable and reasonable arborist. Never had this problem before, because we didn't have large trees. However the area we live in now, does have large fruit trees and when it's fruit season it's not all sweet tasty delight. If those mangos are high up and the wind turns up, it's like a hail storm. The dogs are usually the first ones to react to the loud thump that shakes the roof, but if it hits the right spot, it feel like a lightning strike as everything shakes. Fortunately a friend mentioned MonkeyMan Tree Care to us. We gave him a call and Deriek answered and said no problem, just have to finish a couple other jobs and he would come and give us an estimate. He showed up, gave us and estimate and worked with our budget. He and his crew of workers were hard working and cleaned up well everyday as the trees were quite large required multiple days to cut and dispose of. Overall the trees look great after pruning and no more surprise hail storms from the mango tree. Highly recommend them for any tree or bush related needs. read more

Deriek, the MonkeyMan, and his crew did a amazing job at our house in Aiea. We went from no view, to having our view back. Deriek personally came out to provide an estimate and took the time to explain the entire process with impressive knowledge and a friendly attitude. He charges a per day rate, depending on your job and has a crew of 3-5 people. They completed the work in 5 days. I wholeheartedly recommend Deriek to anyone in need of tree trimming services. He took care of us, delivered beyond expectations, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to my friends and family. If you're searching for top-notch tree trimming, look no further and hire Deriek. You won't be disappointed. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions. Mahalo ! read more

Five Stars! Deriek and his crew did a fantastic job on removing a large banyan tree. The tree had been growing unchecked for years. What made it a challenging job was that the tree was growing on the side of a hill with a utility line behind it. Deriek took down the tree and removed debris without damaging the utility line or any vegetation growing around it. Our neighbor was also impressed with Deriek (she had a lot of questions for him) and she is thrilled that she now has a view from her balcony not a huge tree obstructing the views. Deriek was awesome with the communication on the job. This was really critical for me as I live on Maui and could not be there for the tree removal. Deriek kept me up to date and even sent me pictures until the job was complete. Definitely would recommend Deriek and his crew! read more

3/13/25 - About four years ago, called All Paradise Tree Service since Loren and his crew did an excellent job for my father a couple of times years ago. No return call. Found out recently it went out of business. In the meantime, tried to trim the branches myself, but finally decided it was too overwhelming and needed to call in the experts. Deriek worked within my budget to have a large mango and jabong tree trimmed. The 3-man crew were polite and respectful and started about an hour after arrival after having breakfast. A 4th man showed up a couple of hours later to start on the mango tree. The two men climbing the trees were exceptionally hard workers and know their stuff. Deriek arrived with the chipper truck late afternoon. He takes pride in what he does, which was seen as he conversed with his workers to improve work that was done. Yard was tidy when they left. Deriek takes care of his crew and glad I found this business on Yelp. Honest, good people. Reasonable rates. I am a satisfied customer. Will definitely call again in two years when my trees need maintenance again. read more

These guys went above and beyond! Great staff who did an amazing job on our yard! They trimmed 4 coconut trees for a great price and did 2 more trees too! read more

Deriek and his crew did an amazing job on our two massive mango trees. He really knows what he's doing! Our trees required a lot of technical work around power lines, which worried me, but everything went down without any problems. After getting a few quotes, he fell right in the middle, and made us feel the safest working with him. He actually explained everything he would do and why, then got it all done, just as he said he would. My guy knows everyone and every tree in town, and he's a super cool dude to talk story with! Don't hesitate to give him a call read more

Absolutely awesome service. Super fast, responsive. Had a diseased tree down in 45 minutes. Great price also.

Quick response time and reasonable price. Fast and efficient service. Recommend esp if need trees cut and hauled.

I don't normally leave reviews, but Deriek and his crew is legit! Yes LEGIT. Very responsive to texts/calls, leave a message cause he prolly cutting down trees and will get back to you in between jobs. Knowledgeable, reliable, respectful and was helpful with cutting down other little trees on property. Met with me to look at tree damage from heavy winds, my 60' Norfolk pine fell and just missed my neighbors house and pohaku retaining wall by 2 feet (hubby says I have a guardian Angel always watching over me, could've been worse!) and provided a quote I could work with (and was cheaper than 3 others). We all was worried about the other one falling cause of the 2nd storm that was coming, thankfully that tree was cut down. Provided some before and after pics, so you can see for yourself. Was done in 2 days. Very pleased with a job well done! read more

When looking to get our African Tulip tree removed, we went searching for capable and reasonably priced companies with good reviews. Deriek from MonkeyMan Tree Care reached out to our request within 24 hours to set up a phone consult. After our phone conversation, he gave us a quote later that evening. The next day, the crew members showed up at noon ready to work. Deriek and the crew completely cut down, removed, and disposed of the tree parts within one day. The crew was respectful, friendly, and professional. They made sure to do a great job of cleaning up after. Deriek even provided follow-up advice on tree stump care and offered additional recommendations on possible related services. Overall, amazing customer service, quality work, and speedy completion. Would highly recommend them. read more

Very satisfied with timely response and cost of the service. Exceeded expectation. And no damage done and cleaned up the area.

Always a good experience. They have been doing our house for over a decade. Expert trimming at a reasonable price.

Derek and his crew are diligent and hard working. I hired him to cut back neighbor #1's jabong tree and neighbor #2's mango tree branches growing into my yard. Weed wacked my back yard, trimmed my japanese white fig tree, cut down kiawe, african tulip, some kind of shrub, weed vines and raked up all my dead leaves. Removed all the green waste and left my property looking very neat and manicured! Derek is communicative and knowledgeable. Heʻs been in business for many years and knows his stuff. Would hire him again! read more

Called others for proposals- Derek had the best proposal and did exactly what he promised to do- Yay! I have a go to person now for all my tree trimming needs!!!! read more

Super energetic and friendly guy who admits that he talks too much. But this results from his undeniable passion for his work and determination to get the job right. His 40 years of experience with local trees gives him clairvoyant powers that help him explain what you'll see months and years later. Pricing was higher than the riskier "cut-rate" amateurs, but a little lower than some of the high maka maka arborists that I've hired in the past. Job is done-- at my request he cut harder than our last guy. They worked carefully, making it a point to keep out of my driveway so my family could come and go without feeling bad. Left no rubbish behind and even applied fertilizer and grass seed that is making my whole yard "pop". Lots of neighbors have given favorable comments! Will hire again. read more

Prompt service, within the week. Reasonable price. Expert trimming by Deriek and his crew. Trimming with the future health and regrowth of tree in mind. His crew was pleasant and thorough in keeping personal property safe and cleaning up. Will definitely recommend. read more

Cutting/Trimming our out of control Mango tree was quite a delicate situation for it had grown out and over a patio area with a gazebo and fencing. It was also on the lower end of the property with a lot of stairs to contend with. Deriek came over to check it out and was able to work his quote to within our budget. Rained out the first day, but he showed on the following sunny day. He has an excellent and efficient crew. His mastery in the tree is legendary and he did not let us down. Huge branches were roped, cut and swung down with no damage to anything. Hauled away all the rubbish and left the area spotless. We will definitely be using Monkey Man Tree Care for maintenance. MonkeyMan Tree Care - Tree Services Near Me - Aiea, Hawaii

MonkeyMan and his excellent crew had an intelligent, conscientious, and caring approach to our trees. He is reliable and faithful to his word in that he honors your appointment and performs the job he says he will. Above all, he understands the nature of trees and handles them like a treasured art of nature to be showcased for the long term. Highly recommended!!! read more

I used MonkeyMan Tree Care earlier this year and called on them again to do additional trimming. The palm trees in my backyard started to get out of hand, growing too tall, defeating the purpose of initially using it as a privacy screen from the adjoining neighbors. Instead of creating privacy, all the trees were doing was blocking the sunlight to my lawn. I called Deriek (owner of MonkeyMan Tree Care) and explained what I wanted done. A couple of weeks later, they arrived and cut down the overgrown trees, giving the keikis a chance to grow. The trees were very close to my tiled roof and I was reluctant to let anyone else other than MonkeyMan to do the job. He and his workers, expertly did the job with no damage. I highly recommend MonkeyMan Tree Care to anyone needing tree removal. read more

His rates are very fair and great reviews so we WERE ready to employ...but we didn't use him due to overtexting and overly personal texts and questions. That just didn't sit right. He says he doesn't drink but then hold da thumbs brah'! Lost a big job. We hired another guy and he was great and no personal questions. I hope you learn from this. It is NOT local style to ask personal questions brah! * as to his answer? Talking story is NOT asking personal questions, brah! I'm born and raised here. Talking story is any kine but NOT asking personal questions about ...will leave that unsaid. Take responsibility for asking inappropriate questions and leave it at that. And don't do it again!!! read more

I finally found my tree man. Monkey man did so much more than I expected for such a reasonable price that I didn't bother getting competitive bids. In fact my neighbor hired him to cut back a mango tree. read more

I called Deriek after reading the good reviews on Yelp. I sent him pictures of the job and he gave me a quote right away and scheduled the job within the week. Another company wasn't able to do it for over a month. He came in with his young crew and set up and prepared the area neatly making sure the cut trees wouldn't harm anything around the house when they removed the rubbish. Deriek cut down the trees with ease making sure the branches didn't fall down into the neighbor's yard 20 feet below. He is definitely an expert! After it was completed the crew cleaned up everything and swept the rubbish out of the pool too. Everyone was so polite and well trained. I got praise from my wife for choosing such a great person. She liked him so much that she is going to schedule him later to do our plumeria and fruit trees. read more

I highly recommend Monkeyman Tree Care. I sent Derek a photo of the trees that needed trimming, and he responded rapidly with a quote, that I felt was fair. Derek and his team arrived on time and immediately set to work. They moved all items from the area that could be damaged by any falling tree limbs. After the trees were trimmed , they removed all debris from the yard and replaced the items they had moved back in place. The service offered by MonkeyMan Tree Care, was exceptional, fairly priced, and easily scheduled. Derek responds rapidly to all phone calls and is a great "story teller". We had a MASSIVE overgrown tree in our backyard located across a canal that could only be accessed by using our dinky bridge that was going to fall apart at any given moment. Not only did Monkey Man remove this GIGANTIC tree (seriously people, think BIG), but he rebuilt the flipping bridge, too! Deriek showed up at our place on time and walked us through our entire front and back yard, which we weren't expecting him to do. It was a fun and educational experience! Before I go on it's important to know that our land is full of plants and trees that my husband and I know absolutely nothing about lol. Deriek gave us a tour of our place and explained which plants and trees had pests, he told us the names of the trees and what he would do to fix our overgrown property. He hopped on a phone conference with our landlord (who lives in New York) and explained to all of us his solution for the big tree and what he would do to the garden, as well as his plan to rebuild our bridge so he could access the ginormous tree. He literally showed up THE NEXT DAY and started working. His crew was fast, efficient, and extremely pleasant to have around. They did a FANTASTIC job. I can't stress this enough. His team went above and beyond what they said they'd do - I'm saying this because once the tree was removed it exposed a ton of trash on our hillside that we had no idea about. It was shocking LOL! But Deriek and his crew gathered the trash into a pile to get it ready for removal. He did NOT have to do that! He also fixed a latch on our gate that was broken! I can't say enough good things about Deriek, even our neighbors loved him! While they were cutting down trees our neighbors asked Deriek and his crew to trim a few of their trees (for a price) and they did! Needless to say, everyone was thrilled with his service. There is no one more knowledgeable about tree removal/garden care than Deriek and his team. You can rely on him to get the job done right. I scanned the reviews on here and I see someone gave Deriek a one-star review and to them I say PFFFT! Deriek and his team deserve ten stars. We will be using Deriek and his team in the future for all our tree/garden needs, we are customers for life. PS - Deriek has one rule: no dogs, no kids, and no weirdos! LOL! Deriek is funny and professional (a great combo), but you need to respect his rule to let him and his team get the job done right. We appreciated his honesty and tenacity throughout the process. Don't go bugging him and his team while they're doing hard/dangerous work. Let them play their music and get the job done right! WE LOVE YOU MONKEY MAN! read more

Great honest work. Came look at the tree gave me a quote base on my budget and what I wanted. They went the extra mile and did the yard to make a walk way to get rid of the branches from the tree. However I knew every tree varies on cost and my tree was massive going over two of my neighbors yard and roof. My dad and brother is happy and their neighbors are extremely happy. I wanted to help my dad out with his house and for the tree they cut the price was worth it. Very hard working people. And I would recommend to anyone. read more
