Highly, highly, highly recommend. I contacted several companies and there were only two that replied and actually followed through with a quote. Ruben was one of them and provided a quote within a very reasonable amount of time. He and his crew came and trimmed my mango tree, together with my neighbor's mango tree in an amazing amount of time. They came to my house at 8am, cut the two big trees, cleaned up, and was out by 11am. I read the one star reviews, as I couldn't understand how anyone could be dissatisfied. I will admit that there were times that Ruben didn't respond quickly to my texts. I had to keep reaching out, but he eventually did. In his defense, he really IS busy. When I finally texted him to say I wanted to officially hire him, he gave me a date that was 6 weeks out. I didn't balk at it cause I trusted him as a licensed arborist, and he wasn't ripping us off in his quote. Whatever questions I had thrown at him, he shined brighter, sharing his knowledge in plants and trees. An earlier date and time opened up and I took it. Both my neighbor and I are super happy. Very responsive leading up to the job and superb work day of. I had four fox tail palms that needed to be removed. The tricky part, I'm in a townhouse complex and the outdoor areas of three other units are very close by. Not only did they have the trees removed quickly, they paid close attention to to try to minimize saw debris from getting into the neighbors' spaces. The entry way to my yard wasn't able to accommodate the stump grinder they had with them but they'll be able to do that with a different grinder another time. Let's say 4.5 Stars! Ruben and his crew are excellent. We literally have a forest of trees and have no doubt we will be using their services for years to come. We had four very large, eucalyptus and ironwood trees either trimmed or removed recently and the most important thing to me was that they did the job safely and handled themselves professionally. The terrain on our property is not easy, it is mostly slope, but they were able to handle the job well and asked a fair price for the work. They even worked in nasty, rainy conditions for two days in a row and did so with good attitude. We loved that they had a chipper and could spray the chips where we wanted them onto our property. Our neighbor was a little less thrilled about this since some of the dust traveled to his freshly washed car, but for us this was a great benefit. We did have a fair amount of damage to the surrounding vegetation, mailbox, patio stones, and rock wall afterwards and this was really unfortunate (thus hard to give 5 stars). Some of the monstera plants are only now coming back after several months. Some of my beautiful plants are just gone. Perhaps it was a case of miscommunication or maybe it was unavoidable, either way, we worked out a solution for us to replace some of the damaged palms by subtracting reasonable amounts from the final invoice total. I think some damage is to be expected considering the terrain and the amount of material that is being removed. Ruben provided a quick estimate of the cost, showed up and got to work on time every day, and invoiced promptly. They left no garbage around, which seems to happen a lot with other workers. Very professional crew. I can wholeheartedly recommend Island Trees for jobs large and small. read more

Great job removing my palm trees. Workers worked efficiently. I am very pleased with their services and will certainly use them again.

Paid $1200 to cut down and remove a traveler palm tree and to trim a Hau tree and song of India hedge. On the positive side they showed up on time (15 minutes early), the work was done quickly, and most of the branches and leaves were removed. On the negative side they did not let us know when they arrived and when they were done and leaving. I was shocked to see people moving around in our back yard and jumping over our concrete wall. Also we did not have an opportunity to look over with them what was done before they left. They decided to gain access to our property by climbing over our back yard concrete wall and the workers trampled on our plants. Ruben was very responsive and came out for an estimate the very same day that the work was requested. Price was best of 4 contractors, and job was scheduled only a few days later. Ruben and his crew showed up on time and completed the job (trim back a Tecoma tree and remove an overgrown Papaya tree) estimated for 3 hours in only 1! Great work done quickly and exactly as requested. Only drawback was some damage to plants under the tree and lots of debris left when crew was done. Ruben and his team arrived promptly on the 4th of July to cut down iron wood trees and trim a lychee tree. They completed the job in 2 days! They were professional, polite, organized and very hard working. They were kind when we added on a few more iron trees after the initial quote, it was not a problem. The iron wood trees were wide and very tall, and my property is set on a small rocky hill against a mountain. Basically the terrain of my property is not nice and easy. Also add that it was wet both days and at times I can see the top of the iron wood tree swaying with Ruben in it. That was scary and amazing to witness. My wife and I decided to have our very large shower tree cut down and chose Island Trees because of the great reviews. Reuben came to our house and gave us a quote which was way lower than the other two that I had from other companies. His crew came out a week later and within five hours the tree was gone and the stump and large roots ground down. My wife and I had left drinks and water in a cooler for them but his crew just kept working straight through without a break for drink or food. I guess they went for lunch after they were done and just jammed our job fast but very, very good! I cannot praise Reuben and his crew enough for the great job they did.
