He was a nice guy - and we got to test driving almost right away. Additionally, the price was very fair (the lowest end of KBB), and they negotiated some perks (remote start, which I had on my other vehicle). I did a trade-in, and I expected a low-ball on that, unfortunately. The only aggravating part was the "salesman" show that they put on during negotiations. Dave went back and forth with his "boss," and even once coached me to loudly say, "And I want the remote start!" when he picked up the phone. C'mon guys!!! *eyeroll* I might be a female, but I'm not completely dense. Cut the theatrics and be straight. The remote start, to their dismay, apparently cost them more than they had wanted to spend. I'm not sure how they didn't figure in that they'd need a bypass on a manual trans?? I was aggravated that I dropped the vehicle off for them to do the remote start and they were also supposed to reset the oil change indicator, as well as fix a loose dome light housing. Neither was done when I picked up the vehicle, so they hurriedly fixed the latter. Luckily there was ONE mechanic left at that time! Overall, it was a fine experience, and we both got what we wanted out of the deal.

I asked if I could make a 1400 mile trip with the car as it was, and he was like sure thing. Needless to say, I left feeling unsafe to be driving that distance and so I rented a car. It nagged at me~ did the car need immediate action? I called when I returned from my trip and spoke to Rich the Service Manager. He listened to my concern ; I had left with my car not having been repaired and I no longer felt safe driving it. More importantly I no longer had confidence in Brilliance Subaru. Rich stepped in and stepped up. He explained everything and listened to my concerns about "immediate action required". I told him, as a woman who does long distance driving~ any kind of driving, it's more dangerous if I break down on the tollroad. I need to feel safe in my care. I need my service advisor to tell me the truth about my vehicle and my safety. Rich made sure all the repairs were done and that my car was working. He apologized for the miscommunications, and I left feeling "safe". Brilliance fixed my car, explained it all, and I left on my next long distance trip in my own car, not a rental and it performed amazingly.

This is a direct quote from the email I received, and I have retained the original email. In my opinion, this response lacked empathy and professionalism, especially given the circumstances. Good folk to deal with. I counted up the cars I've purchased in my long life. It's 27 for me and my family. This was one of the most seamless and satisfying experiences. Upon getting it towed to my mechanic, over $2000 of repairs are needed to just make it safe to drive. The manager was dismissive and asked me "what do you want me to do?" and offered me no respectable viable compensation for the headache. The $200 check he offered isn't going to make a dent in the $1100 I've already spent on tires and battery and the $2000 more I will be spending to repair a portion of it. Buyer beware.
