I don't even know where to start, this was easily one of the worst dealership experiences I've had. We walked in ready to buy and couldn't even get a proper greeting. The salesperson was completely disengaged, offered no guidance, and had zero personality or sense of urgency. It honestly felt like we were inconveniencing her by being there. Even more concerning, no one from management ever stepped in, acknowledged us, or attempted to assist at any point. Also worth mentioning, the vehicle we test drove hadn't even been properly detailed. The interior was disgustingly dirty, to the point it was embarrassing. If it hadn't been cleaned yet, that should have been communicated upfront instead of presenting it that way. It really summed up the entire experience. The highlight (if you can call it that) was a $2,000 trade-in offer on a well-running vehicle with a brand new engine. When we questioned it, we were casually told we'd be better off selling it ourselves. No explanation, no attempt to earn our business, and no manager stepped in to address it. That alone tells you everything you need to know about how this place operates. We didn't come in expecting anything unrealistic, just a fair conversation and basic professionalism. Instead, we got dismissive attitudes, low effort, and an offer that was frankly insulting. We left, and not because we couldn't make a deal but because there was clearly no one there interested in making one. Plenty of dealerships out there that actually want your business. We have purchased a used 2025 Toyota Camry from Elgin Toyota in Illinois on 2/28/2026. On Friday, March 6, 2026, at approximately 11:50 AM, my husband, Timothy Bradac, left his place of employment (Amazon in Oak Creek). While traveling southbound on the interstate at highway speed, the rear bumper cover suddenly detached from the vehicle and flew off. He safely pulled off the interstate at approximately 12:26 PM and called me in a panic to explain what had happened. I immediately asked if he had struck any road debris or run over anything while driving. He confirmed that he had not. This occurred after the Highway 11 exit in Racine and before any Kenosha exits on the interstate. When Tim was still driving, he saw in his rear view mirror a semi-truck had run over the bumper cover, making it unsafe for him to retrieve any remaining pieces from the roadway. I instructed him to return home immediately and park the vehicle safely under our carport. Following this incident, I contacted two separate body shops to obtain repair estimates. Both shops expressed significant concern and stated they had never seen a bumper cover simply detach from a vehicle under normal driving conditions--especially on a recently purchased vehicle that should have been inspected prior to sale. One body shop owner specifically advised that we contact the dealership immediately, as this type of issue should not occur if the vehicle had been properly inspected. Frankly, I am extremely concerned and alarmed by this situation. We had been in possession of the vehicle for less than one week. If this had occurred during heavy traffic or rush hour, the detached bumper could have caused a serious accident or injury to other drivers on the interstate. For documentation purposes, I do have Ring camera footage showing the 2024 Toyota Camry leaving our home on the morning of March 6, 2026, at 6:19 AM with the bumper cover intact. Additional footage may also be available from Amazon in Oak Creek showing Timothy Bradac leaving work at approximately 11:50 AM with the bumper still attached. Interstate traffic cameras may also show the bumper detaching from the vehicle and being struck by a semi-truck at approximately 12:20 PM between the Highway 11 exit in Racine and the Kenosha exits. Given the seriousness of this situation, I would like answers regarding how this could occur on a recently purchased vehicle that was represented as inspected and safe to drive. I contacted the Dealer on Sunday 3/8/2026 via email and was told to bring in the vehicle for inspection. Tim and Jenna Bradac dropped off the vehicle at Elgin Toyota for inspection on 3/11/2026. We were given a free rental which I am grateful for. On 3/12/2026, service representative, Ron, who was fantastic, called me and said since the pre inspection was done, they would not pay for fixing this vehicle. I asked for the Manager to call me. I received a call from Manager, Joe Ballin, who said he was not liable. I explained that this is unacceptable that a critical safety component--the rear bumper--completely detached from the vehicle only six days after purchase, despite your claims that it was inspected and "fine." This clearly demonstrates a preexisting defect and constitutes a breach of the implied warranty of merchantability under both Illinois and Wisconsin law. A vehicle sold in such a condition is unsafe for operation, placing both the driver and the public at significant risk. Any inspection report or verbal assurances do not absolve the dealership of liability for selling a defective vehicle. Well, I'm at least glad to see we aren't the only member of the "we only have one key" club with this dealership. The entire experience was a nightmare, despite the claims of buying online and it being hassle free, that's a total lie. They would not give us any out the door price and full out ignored every time I asked for one. So my father took my daughter in himself. Ended up with a 2022 Camry and provided a cashier's check. A week later we were informed they could not deposit it because it was from my daughter's grandfather's account and not hers...and could we come back and provide a different form of payment and oh, by the way could we put more cash down on the car? (No, we could not because we already put some cash down and I can read contracts that we didn't need to put anymore for any reason. This was your error that you accepted the check.) Meanwhile I was still asking about the 2nd keys, the back door that now doesn't open, and a seat belt that is half cut on the lap belt. They didn't care. "Hands were tied". Please. Never again. The one key only per car pattern is an absolute scam, I would not be surprised if the guy that they refer to make the 2nd keys on the customer's dime works for them direct. You dealers wonder why people go to Carvana or the like, this is exactly why. read more

Beware!! I was sold a used car that I was told by the salesman that it had been thru 160 point safety inspection. However, the rear window had a film in it that was warped and bubbled, and impaired the drivers vision. I assumed it was a protective film they applied to protect the glass. They NEVER told me it was adhered to the glass! I could not remove it! I had to rake it back for service. I've asked repeatedly for a copy of the 160 point safety inspection, and the service department told me they don't do that. Their inspection report that was handed to me had 39 line items. Nobody at the dealership is able to provide a copy of the report, or even acknowledge if there is one or not?! I was given untruthful information, and now I'm encountering defensively nasty attitudes because they're on the spot and called out in the bs! There is no 160 point safety inspection performed as I was told when I purchased the vehicle because they WILL NOT provide one. And look at the things they DID miss when they did their half assed "inspection"!! See it in the pics!! The evidence is right here!! Lol save your time, frustration, and MONEY and go somewhere REPUTABLE because these guys don't know who's saying what to sell cars and spew incorrect, and untruthful nonsense!! Good luck! read more

We had questions and wanted to see the cars in person, and expressed we weren't making a final decision today. We were told "these aren't BMWs people don't need to see them or feel them to buy them. People come in as serious buyers to put a deposit on a car, these are in high demand". They kept trying to push us to make decisions, without answering any of our questions or helping us actually see what we want. If you are purchasing a certified pre-owned vehicle from this dealership, confirm in writing before you sign that two sets of keys are included. We left our CPO purchase with only one set of keys, something we did not discover until we were walking out the door. Having purchased CPO vehicles from three other dealerships over the years, all of which provided two sets without question, we considered this standard for any transaction involving a certified vehicle. This should have been disclosed prior to purchase. When we followed up, the General Manager declined to provide a second set and offered no price adjustment. The cost of a replacement Toyota key now falls on us, even though we purchased a certified pre-owned vehicle at full price. The General Manager's response to a straightforward customer concern was dismissive, rude, and condescending, and it reflects poorly on how they treat buyers once the paperwork is signed. read more

We've serviced our 2013 Highlander at Elgin Toyota for years, but this last visit was a huge disappointment. We were told the transmission needed repair and that the alternator could wait. After agreeing to the transmission repair (originally quoted at $2,700), we were charged $3,200 without notice. The very next night, the truck wouldn't start due to the alternator and we were stranded. Another mechanic fixed the alternator for $400, and the car runs fine. Elgin Toyota later claimed we were told it needed immediate repair, which is untrue--I heard the conversation on speakerphone. Promised follow-up never happened. The service dept is great, but the sales manager is the WORSE!!! I had just bought a car there less than a month ago and the oil light kept showing up so I took the car in to check. The service manger didn't want to help us at all and said there was nothing he could do. He didn't show any empathy or apologize and acted like we were wasting his time! Title: Misleading Pricing and Hidden Charges I drove over 200 miles to Elgin Toyota based on an ePrice I received by email. After a good test drive experience, things changed. The supervisor added $500 to the quoted price because I did not purchase scratch and cleaning packages, claiming it was mentioned in the email's fine print -- but I later checked, and there was no such detail. They also added a $299 VIN tag without informing me, despite my request for no add-ons. I was left waiting for hours, then rushed through finance paperwork without enough time to review. I was told I'd receive full copies of everything I signed but only received two pages. When I returned to dispute the $799 charges, I was met with changing stories and more pressure. The supervisor's manager claimed the $500 charge was for a cleaning package that I had explicitly declined multiple times and that I would need to drive 400 miles round trip to use it. The supervisor's manager also insisted I had signed for the service package. It appears the paperwork may have been altered, and I was never given a complete signed copy. I went to the dealership just to look and test drive a hybrid Camry and I was treated so well and dealt with so honestly that I felt comfortable purchasing my vehicle. No hard sell, No pressure. The finance manager was great. Having said that the finance supervisor was rather intense because I had an issue with signing a particular part of the contract and I almost walked out but I really liked the car and the warranty plan and I trusted Shana and Kal so I stayed and I'm glad I did. I really love my car and am very happy as a whole with my buying experience at Elgin Toyota. I'd give it 5 stars but that Finance supervisor should stay in his office at all times. read more

Tried to get an OTD price over the phone but was told I had to go into the show room, even though their website said I buy a car online.

Toyota was offering a promotion where they would clean cars for free and change the cabin filter. We thought that the free cleaning would include cleaning the inside and outside of the car since my dad called them beforehand to double check. It took them over 2 hours to clean the outside of our car and they didn't clean the inside of the car. It was not done well. When my dad asked why they didn't clean the inside of the car, an employee said, " We're cleaning your car for free and you still complain?" This was clealry a part of the promotion. My dad asked for the name of the main manager and one of the employees handed him a card and told my dad to never come back. The people involved in this matter were Cosby Quiroga and Brendon Pacheco; they were being rude. I do not recommend this location; you're better off going somewhere else. Update: my dad went to speak to them and they didn't let him see the video of my car because I left a bad review (he noticed a scratch on my car and wasn't sure if it was already there). I noticed that they left my glove box unable to be opened. Truly a disappointing experience, never going there again. read more

I went to several dealers that day and was treated much better with many more perks available with a used car. I did buy a car here and then the squabbling began, first over windshield wipers so bad you couldn't see. They refused to provide a new set. Upon leaving I learned there was only 1 key - I have to pay. No owners manual. Not 10 minutes after I left the dealer I was pulled over for a headlight that was out. If I could give this place a 0 star review I would, and before I begin, if you pass by this place my recommendation is keep driving(in fact can't wait for the Bot, to give a reply to this) Our 2014 Toyota Carola, was recently totaled, we fortunately walked away from it with just some bruises, and would like, not need, to purchase a new car. I figure give this place a shot, maybe my impressions of it from all the years, frankly the lowest of the lowest dealers was not a fair assessment. I was wrong, this place is f&cking hell hole. I walked in late for an appointment for my Costco pricing(first off that's a joke, we never got to it) wanted to see a Camry, Carola or Prius new, which of course they have none on the lot. Let me just say I knows how allocation works for Toyota, if you're not getting enough of that car, it means you're not selling it, even in this market Let's continue, afterwards I learned the sales person they stuck me with, wasn't even the trained Costco sales person, I have to laugh now. Maybe I made an error in this but it wouldn't surprise me Mr Costco Rep, immediately went from the car options I wanted to a fully loaded rav4 which was 10k more then I was willing to pay. I actually had to convince him, to show me a Carola/Camry that I wanted. (You gotta love how they listen to their potential customers) They found the crappiest Carola on the lot that was scratched up and compared it to their suggestion of the $40k rav 4 all while explaining to me why the Rav would be a better choice for my family. (Gotta love how they make my decisions wrong) Anyway because friends and family have always told me how I should get a bigger suv, I thought why not, at least give an opportunity to what I'm saying "no" to, and bring a fresh perspective. Maybe we can have the numbers work for the right price, maybe we got off on the wrong foot, maybe this is the best car for us, if at the right price that is out of my original budget but best for my family. Took it for a lap around the parking lot because they don't have a lot of cars on the lot to begin with, nice car, and I thought yeah it's out of my budget at current price, but I'll see what is the walk out the door price and we'll see if we can have this work. We didn't even get that far, I kept asking what's the out the door price, they wouldn't give me any further information unless I was agreeing to buy. I responded I can't say yes to something I don't know the price to Their response, "well if you're not going to commit to buying, we can send you, your price tomorrow" So let's count the red flags, wasnt the right person, bought the wrong car, switched cars on me, didn't listen, wouldn't even discuss the price unless I committed to buy. Oh did I mention how my 7 and 9 year thought the kids area was dirty, these are children who leave their stuff all over the house and cars, and they're saying a room is dirty is really saying something Let me say, I understand the current market of supply and demand, this experience goes way beyond that, it goes to "let's just hook up to your checking account, and we can take out the money we want". Or said another way as George Carlin, "bend me over the desk, and give customer service while they service my account(a$$)" At the end of the day we left, won't go back, will flip the bird any time I drive by, writing this review along with wherever else I can think of, when people mention this dealer, "I'll inform them to avoid it like the plague, cause otherwise they'll be with you for the rest of your life and it will be hell" and finally going to tell Costco auto what a pleasant experience they're preferred dealer is. (I knew going in, after reading reviews and ratings by Costco buyers it was a joke and going to suck, this is the only area they exceeded my expectations with how bad they can be). In conclusion, I'm sure this place is defenders and bots will talk about the market, supply and demand, reset my expectations, maybe I didn't do something right, etc etc blah blah blah.
