Avoid this service department if you value your time and expect basic customer service. Communication was nonexistent, updates were either delayed or never provided, and I constantly had to chase someone down just to find out what was happening with my vehicle. The staff showed little professionalism, no sense of urgency, and absolutely no accountability. Every interaction felt like I was being brushed off rather than helped. Instead of addressing concerns directly, there were excuses, vague answers, and a complete lack of transparency. What should have been a straightforward service experience turned into a frustrating and exhausting ordeal. This dealership's service department is disorganized, poorly managed, and clearly does not prioritize its customers. I left my car at your dealership on Wednesday morning. Today is Friday, and after nearly three days, I still have no answers about what is wrong with my vehicle. Last year, your dealership installed a new engine in this car. Now the vehicle is experiencing serious engine problems again, yet no one seems willing to take responsibility or provide a clear explanation. What is most frustrating is that after removing the car from your dealership and taking it to AutoZone, a simple scan immediately identified a diagnostic code pointing to a major engine issue. It is unacceptable that your service department could not provide this basic information after having the vehicle for almost three days. I have completely lost confidence in your ability to diagnose or repair this vehicle. As a result, I am taking my car to another dealership for evaluation and service. Called for Service, was transferred and after 10 rings, line hanged up. Called back and was transferred again and someone picked up, but did not answer, then hanged up. Called third time was transferred to Parts/Service manager who was not available, left message, never heard back. That was three days ago. Made service appointment on-line three days ago, never got any sort of confirmation. Called today and was transferred, asked if there was an appointment in the system, the guy hung up on me. Called back and was transferred and person said there was no record of appointment in the system. THIS IS THE WORST SERVICE RESPONSE I HAVE EVER RECEIEVED. NEVER GOING BACK. They seem to preach transparency quite a bit at Elgin Hyundai. Someone should ask them about off hours advertising. Pick out a new Tucson and check the price about 5 or 6 AM....then go back and look again at the exact same car, same VIN and look at the price at 10 or 11 AM on the same day. The difference is somewhere around $3000. Ask them about Illinois Code 475.310, look it up yourself. But if call or go in, make sure you have other cars written down as they will probably hit you with the "already sold" line. read more

I want to share my experience at Elgin Hyundai for anyone considering purchasing a vehicle there -- and to save you some time, we ultimately left and went to Happy Hyundai in Libertyville, where we purchased the exact same vehicle -- newer -- at a similar price, without the pressure or unprofessional behavior. Our visit actually started off great. Alfonso, our salesman, couldn't have been more professional. He was courteous, patient, and genuinely helpful throughout the initial process. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill fast as soon as the GM, Mike, got involved. The actual price of the vehicle ended up being several thousand dollars more than what was advertised. When we questioned the discrepancy, the interaction became extremely uncomfortable. In my opinion, he was the rudest -- and probably most sexist -- sales professional I have ever dealt with. He made condescending comments, including stating that he's a dealer and is supposed to make money off of customers. When my sister-in-law mentioned that his tactics felt like borderline pressure sales -- as defined by the Attorney General -- he sarcastically started calling her "State's Attorney." The situation escalated further when he got up, screaming and throwing a fit because we wouldn't agree to the pressure sales tactics and mandatory dealer packages. His outburst made our two year old cry. I strongly recommend saving yourself the stress and going somewhere that values respect, transparency, and professionalism. read more

If you like playing the game of searching for all the hidden fees you came to the right dealership. What ever you see a car advertised for be sure sure to add another 3,000 in fees that they will tell you the cars has. Propak almost 2,000, ceramic coating almost another 1500, vin tags another 500 and if they need to l0ocate a car for you another 800. Worst part is I asked Michelle about any extra charges and was told there would not be any. Jim my sales person was great, this was nothing against him. I purchased a certified used Pallisade from this Elgin Hyundai in November of 2024. Most every subsequent interaction since the purchase has been frustrating. In my interactions with service/maintenance, the advisors generally treated me like I don't know anything about cars, that I don't know how to bring a car in for service, and that I don't know how to operate my vehicle [at one point, apparently, I did not know how to fasten a seatbelt [A few months after this, Hyundai did a recall on the seatbelts] Another big problem was the dealer mistakenly recorded a lien on my vehicle. Because of this, I never received my title. When I found about the error in the paperwork, I was not really that upset. People make mistakes, and I was relieved that I figured out what going to get my title. The problem was with the follow-up, communication (or lack thereof). Subsequent contact with management and title people was unsatisfactory . When I asked for a letter on dealership letterhead stating that I owned the car, Mike, the General Manager, became outright hostile. He falsely stated the Secretary of State was the problem, that I should contact the Secretary of State, and I did not know how vehicle tiling works. Later, contact with the tiling personnel was unclear/confusing: "we now have the title, but we don't have the release of lien" Huh? What good is the title if the lien is still there? When inquiring about my title, I called the Finance Departments at least it dozen times, over multiple days, at different times of the day) Nobody ever answered! There is/was no mechanism to leave a message or returned to the operator/customer service. As a result, one has to keep calling the dealership and experiencing their faulty, (and aggravating!) communication process, with no recourse of the dealer/department returning your call. On one call, I asked the operator to walk over to the finance department and get somebody on the line for me, and they would not do it. So... I had to PHYSICALLY go to the dealership to find out they screwed up my title paperwork. Next problem: on multiple occasions, Elgin Hyundai personnel would provide you with guidance or information. Then, when the guidance was followed, other personnel in the dealership would say "that's not the way it works". When you call this Hyundai dealership, sometimes the pre-recorded messaging indicates that you have reached a Toyota dealer. Other things worth mentioning: I really liked my salesman: Steve Vlagos. I also received positive assistance from Kyle in finance and Marcos in sales. While the three people just mentioned our bright spots, my overall opinion of this dealership is very, very dim. read more

I scheduled an appointment for an oil change on my 2026 Hyundai Santa Fe. My appointment was for 11:15 AM and I arrived 10 minutes early. However, I guess it takes them over 2 hours to do an oil change. I don't understand why it takes over 2 hours to do an oil change. My MyHyundai app said they didn't even start the oil change for over an hour after my appointment time. (App tells me when hood is open and doors are unlocked) Why book an appointment if they don't start the work at the appointment time. I can do the oil change myself in less than 30 minutes but because it is a new car and we want maintenance records I am forced to waste my entire morning here. They need to streamline the process to make it faster. read more

Never coming back here just to warn other car buyers. My engine light went off at 101,000 miles a few years ago. Missed the warranty by 1,000 miles. Hyundai wanted to relace my transmission at over $10,000. They wouldn't budge at all to help compensate. I took it to a local mechanic who confirmed all Hyundai's have this issue. He said get rid of the car asap or drive it for as long as possible. In and out of the mechanic shop for 3-1/2 years before it just died. Carmax offered me $1,000 and just sold it. I will never by a Hyundai ever again. Also the service at Elgin is awful. When I was there, 1 guy got into an argument with me when I told him I would be taking my Sante Fe to a local mechanic. He didn't like that I was using a guy that charges me a quarter of the price Hyundai was charging for foreign parts. Dealing with this dealership has been a learning experience for sure. I truly wish I would have done my research on them before purchasing with them. Purchased a car that seemed great and mechanically sound. I was so excited to have a bigger vehicle to fit my family in. Since the day we left the lot with it, it has been nothing but issues that they have "tried" 4 times to repair and just can't seem to figure out. No one at this dealership knows what they are doing, they are nearly impossible to communicate with and 100% do not care about their customers. I could go days without a call back from anyone. If I could give 0 stars I would. Also sold me a used car that seemed pretty solid. Left the dealer with it and within a mile the trans started having issues. They refused to do any form of return, deal, or anything. They did attempt to fix it but when they said they fixed it on 4 separate occasions the trans issue was still very present. I would not recommend them to anyone. Bought a used 2019 Nissan Armada with 67,000 miles. After owning it for about a month the Car would go into limp mode. Alarm would come up BCI Failure. Brought it back to dealer (Towed in) they had it for about tree weeks. Same issue happened again. Brought it back again this time they had it over a month. Put over 1,000 miles on it trying to recreate the problem. Same issue happened again. I was also informed, that my warranty only covers repair performed at their Dealership. Got the car back and it did it again. This time three times in two day. Currently the car is back in the shop for the same issue. It is going on five weeks and still no end in sight. Owned this car almost 11 months, 4 months it has been in the shop. We have put about 7,000 total miles on this car. About 2,000 miles are from the dealer trying to recreate the problem we are having. I had the "pleasure" of leasing a vehicle from Elgin Hyundai, and everything went well at first while I was working with the sales manager -- he was professional and handled everything correctly. But when it came time to finalize documents with the general manager, things took a turn. He made a major mistake in the paperwork by listing the color of the car as black instead of white. Because of this, I've been pulled over by police several times since my license plate is registered to a black vehicle -- while my car is clearly white. I went back to Elgin Hyundai to resolve the issue and submitted a written complaint, but the general manager, Ismail (Mike) Meah , refused to accept it, offered no help whatsoever. He walked away while I was still trying to talk to him -- completely ignoring me. Ismail (Mike) Meah (General manager ) clearly needs training in basic customer communication. You don't get to be rude to customers -- especially when the issue is your dealership's fault. My experience with Elgin Hyundai was one of the most frustrating I've ever had. I purchased a used car through a pushy salesperson named Joe--a bald gentleman--who showed little interest in what I actually wanted. After finally settling on a vehicle, he waited until I was about to get the keys to tell me they didn't have the spare key and that I'd need to return for it. When I came back, the key wasn't ready and no one seemed to know what I was talking about, so I had to get a manager involved. It only got worse from there. I brought the car in multiple times for recurring issues they claimed were fixed--each time they weren't. Eventually, the car broke down on the side of a busy road and had to be towed an hour back to Elgin. Joe offered no help whatsoever throughout this ordeal. Do not buy a car from here. read more

Brought my 2025 Elantra Hybrid to the service department for an oil change. Guy was nice, opened my door, all that. Said hey, we see you need a 15,000 mile service and had a nice looking Hyundai document showing service stuff. It was high and I negotiated it down some and thought it was related to the manufactures warranty. Work was done and I commented about it being overpriced. Went home, and checked my car's service manual. Guess what, the service interval is at 16,000 miles and is very basic; didn't need an alignment and all this other dealer adder stuff. It was very misleading. I left a message to the service manager, no call back. Look, I don't mind paying for the work but when does an oil change, that's covered from my car purchase, changing an air filter and cabin filter, plus an unwarranted alignment cost $675 and that's negotiated down from closer to the mid $900s. My car buying experience there was fine, but this service stuff is no good. I may not even go back for the rest of my oil changes. Moral of the story, read your service manual and have it in your hand when you go in there. Compare to the nonsense they're trying to sale you. read more

I took my car for the regular service last time may be 3 months ago. That was my second time there, previously was servicing at Schaumburg Hyundai. Last time my experience was worst. The technician mentioned my battery was bad and alternator would go if not taken right measures. The battery would cost 450$ for replacement. He started with the tone, that i should get it done that day, when i mentioned let me think about it but he was insisting on that. I called a frnd asking for suggestion he said to ask if he can how much percentage of life the battery has and they can do the tests. I requested for the same he mentioned that would cost 50$ as it would technician time to take the battery out and do the test. I believed that to be true and again checked with the friend. He said thats okay you can get it done at costsco for much better price. So i opted off replacing the battery, and continued with regular oil change. That evening i went to autozone and they did the battery test and the battery is perfectly fine. Its a simple test. That gave me a big relief. So it was totally a rip off if i would have trusted and went with that. Second now today after three months, i went to orielly parts and autoparts to do that test again as i am nearing my next servicing wanted to check and its now green at both places. I cant believe how businesses are turning out. I request management to keep checks on these and not cheat customers. I am not going there next time. read more

I went to the bank on 9/22/25 for a cashier's check. I went into Elgin Hyundai and dealt with Alex the sales rep. Alex came back with a sales sheet like he was selling me my car? That sheet had my car $1700 higher than the 10 day payoff and he couldn't explain why that was. He got a manager I believe his name was Carlos? He explains to me BS that they have to charge a inspection fee $500 for a car IM BUYING? $400 for paperwork I PRINTED? $225 for plates I already PAID for? $300 higher in taxes more than the 7 day payoff quote and $300 that he says and I quote he cant explain! I took all the paperwork and went out to my car to call Hyundai corp. Out in the parking lot I called the financial department talked to a very nice lady Shirley and explained everything that was happening at one of their dealerships. She looked it up and said the exact number I had the cashier's check made out for $16175.71. I said 3 times are you sure, Shirley from Hyundai said yes! I went straight to the post office shipped off the paperwork and check on Monday 9/22/2025. Hyundai received the check and paperwork, paid off the car and my account was closed by Saturday 9/27/25. I received my title on 10/6/25!! My pay off was $16175.71 the dealership tried charging $17833.35 and told me I wont receive my title if I mailed it in WELL I DID!! This manger stated he has done it 1000 times which means 1000 people have been scammed!! I can not wait till my other lease is done and I can be rid of this dealership! Buyers YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! I wish BBB allowed for photos to be uploaded. I even received an email from a Kelly who said she was from the owners office asking about my experience. I replied back and all i got was crickets!! I got to take the vehicle on an actual test drive around the area to show me how the vehicle handled, unlike the previous dealership which took me around the block on an all flat road. I was also shown way more features, tips, and tricks that I didn't even know the Santa Fe had to offer! I was offered generous discounts on the vehicle that I didn't even have to argue for. I was also given a generous trade in allowance on my Tesla compared to other places. I've purchased vehicles in the past, but none have come close to the comfort I felt making this purchase with Jim and Daniella! I felt like I knew them for years despite meeting them for the first time! They were able to answer all my questions with proficient and polite answers, they were able to get answers for me in a timely manner, and most of all, they treated me with kindness, compassion, and respect. Took my Elantra there for service 2x. Mis diagnosed the code on the computer causing a return trips. WORST PART IS SERVICE, there is NO service after a sale. BEWARE. When you call for service/repairs your lucky if you can get in within 2 weeks! My AC went out relating to my first problem called they said we can TRY and schedule you in within the next 2 weeks. It's 98 outside late June 2025. Dealer on edge of Bartlet on Lake Street has absolutely no sense of urgency, speed or concern. Their repair department is a utter and complete disaster and that's being nice. Your better off looking for another Hyundai dealer somewhere else than this place.
