First the negative. The home inspector missed some major aspects (water damage in the floor, electrical outlets that didn't work, etc) that we ended up paying a significant amount to fix once we moved in. These are items the inspector should have found. Now the positive: the company was responsive. They had different people assigned to do different, but important tasks and always had someone ready to answer questions. They also have a lot of different services aside from home inspection. We needed a surprise well inspection and subsequent treatment - and they handled it very quickly and efficiently. In fact - the owner himself did that work for which we are grateful. Overall - I would probably use them again - but just beware of relying on the inspection/inspector. Conduct your own diligence as well. read more

We had an inspection done for a home we purchased in 2018 and Advantage Inspection missed about $3k of repairs - including siding for a whole side of the house, and (now) a visible fault in the HVAC system that will result in it needing to be replaced when only 8 years old. They missed obvious things, like a 4" wide burn mark on the floor the sellers had hidden with a set of fireplace tools, a rotten door frame, ect... We also paid $275 for a septic inspection, which was supposed to include pumping - and all they did was take photos of the septic tank. We had to pay another company to pump. They did not respond to any of our issues or suggest any redress. Other companies charge half as much and do twice the work. read more

Excellent service from the inspector, Chuck Covar! Very thorough, friendly and professional. He answered all of my questions clearly. Each area of the home was inspected very carefully. I hired the company to complete an inspection and radon test of a new construction home. He did not take for granted that this was a new home. Chuck found many issues that I would not have found during my walk through. This is the best money I spent during this home purchase! I believe It saved me a lot of headache and trouble that I would have dealt with shortly after moving in to my new home. I plan to hire them to come back out right before my one year warranty ends to see if there are any new issues that I need to have repaired by builder. I highly recommend this company! The inspector missed the fact that the dryer vent is not to code. It is plastic and metal is required, and who ever installed it put it betweeen two joists, compressing it which would have eventually clogged and could cause fire. I now have to have the wall behind the dryer torn out and a metal pipe installed. He also missed the fact that the drain near my front door was not adequiae to carry all of the water that flows down, and he said there was not drip pan under the hot water heat--but did not say that there was not space to install a drip pan. read more

I've now had home inspections by two different companies - Advantage Inspection and another that is now out of business. Advantage was BY FAR the more thorough of the two. In addition to spending significantly more time with the property, they took pictures to clearly document everything that they found that was out of place. They sent me a report that was dozens of pages long with detailed descriptions of problems, recommendations for solutions, and photos of what was going on. The inspector that came out was on time and friendly. Rates were on par with every other inspection company I called to ask for a quote. I'd definitely do business again. read more

Excellent service, affordable and fast turnaround for the reports. I choose this company became they did home and septic inspections amongst other services and didn't want to deal with two separate companies. We had a house and septic inspection scheduled for the same. Lance was early, answered all questions and was extremely knowledgeable. There was a little bit of miscommunication with the date and time for septic, he came out the day prior and we weren't notified but the owner Dave was very apologetic and rescheduled for Justin to come back out again to meet my husband. Justin answered a list regarding the septic since we've never had one and provide his cell number for any additional questions. I will be rescheduling another inspection in 11 months before our new home warranty ends as well as any septic pumping we'll need in the future. read more

Poor ! Poor ! Poor ! This is the worst inspection we have met. Lots details were missed. Light is not working, dry wall is broken. How come these are not found on the day!!! Leaking faucet in the kitchen was not be found !! Lots of obvious problems were not described in the report. The last reply I gained from this company is "when you live there, you will feel better". Hugh came out to perform our new home construction inspection on like 2-days notice. Advantage in Apex area was very responsive. Inspection revealed a lot of issues I would have missed including a water leak and evidence of prior mold. Hugh, the inspector, was courteous and very knowledgeable. The worse home inspection ever. The gentleman who came out to inspect a home that I purchased in June that was highly recommended by the reality company, done a below par inspection. There were multiple issues we found days after we moved in; that could have been easily seen if one would have actually done a "par" job. But the icing on the cake; we had a storm one night where we had a few tree limbs land on our roof. The next afternoon when I got home I wondered upstairs into my attic that is accessible by a stair well that leads to full attic. So no "scuttle" hole to crawl through, no pull down stair case. Literally, you open a door and climb a set of fixed stairs, and while standing look around. I noticed a water stain on the ceiling so I though maybe what I heard bouncing on the roof caused the problem. Called our insurance company and I had a gentleman come out who advised me that our problem began years before the storm and years before we even moved in. I asked, "should our home inspector have seen this?" An the reply I got was, "he didn't see this because he never stepped foot in the attic. Multiple attempts were made to call our home inspector back, who did call me back once. I tried to call him back later on in the same day and I am still waiting for a return phone call. I'm a real estate agent and I worked with advantage for years and they never let me down. Keep up the good work.

This was the biggest waste of money in all of our real estate transactions (we currently own 3 houses in the area). The guy who came did not have a tool box or a ladder with him, could not open an entry way to the space with the air handler because it needed to be removed with 1 screw. The report showed that the gutters were in "good condition" - we have NO gutters on the house, he spent less than 1 hour on a house that is almost 3000 sq feet. All the report showed that windows "may be failed" hot water heater "appears in working condition". It was a joke to say the least because he never said anything concrete one way or another; I guess that keeps them protected from anyone being able to use their warranty/insurance. I have had properties inspected before in this area and gotten detailed reports that included many photographs of all things reported on, this report cost $400 and had only 1 photo of the front of the house. The man I spoke to on the phone sounded very professional and knowledgeable, the man who came to the inspection was someone different. I would never use this company again and I feel that I threw away my money. I took the recommendation of the realtor at the time - big mistake. read more
