I was unable to attend the inspection, but the inspector went over everything by phone at the end of the inspection. The 30 page report came the next day with great photos and explanations. I could not be more impressed by the thoroughness and attention to detail in the recent home pre-purchase inspection performed by New Leaf. The inspector (Artie) saw things even my Lasik-enhanced vision would never have noticed (until after closing of course). As a first-time home buyer, there is a lot of anxiousness in the purchasing process. Artie's inspection certainly helped relieve some of that for me. I can share his report with the builder and resolve most, if not all the findings, prior to the final walkthrough and/or closing date. Thankfully, there were no significant issues found. However, after having completed the inspection, Artie patiently walked me through everything he noted, including clear pictures/videos with descriptions on each one. Some were simple cosmetic items and others were noted as preventive measures to avoid problems down-the-road. He consistently mentioned his goal was to ensure the builder had this new home in as near "perfect" condition as possible for me. They went through everything imaginable and documented the condition. $8,200 in repairs on serious STRUCTURAL DAMAGE that NEW LEAF IGNORED!! Inspector (Artie) noticed possible termite/water damage on some trim in a front bedroom....but didn't bother to inspect the cause of the damage! He got 3-4 pics from the back end of crawlspace (of furnace, his moisture level reader, some pipes...insulation) BUT ABSOLUTELY NO PICTURES or inspection of any structural elements of my crawlspace!!! Even though in his report he acknowledges there might be some damage bc of how the trim looked. The front part of my crawlspace was completely ignored by Artie---I guess he just didn't feel like crawling all the way up there? Now it's costing my family $$$$$$ when it should have been caught and fixed by the previous sellers! Does New Leaf care? NOPE they said..."Best of luck" And just to be clear we've lived here a mere 1.5 years and this damage was there prior to us buying it according to several contractors and new inspector for the new buyer. No way it happened that fast. This is not "HIDDEN DAMAGE" either. Several other inspectors and contractors confirm the damage stretches quite literally to every corner of the home and was missed/ignored by New Leaf Inspections! They are taking no accountability for their inspector. Didn't even offer to give our $325 money back for the crappy inspection they did. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. They also didnt bother to take off the electrical panel to check there either-thank goodness we haven't had any issues there! Complaint filed with board so hopefully that will push them to train their inspectors better or something. I promise you there are better companies that will be more thorough with your inspection. I paid New Leaf Home Inspections for a residential and termite inspection. The inspectors came to the house during my diligence period. The reports I received did not mention termites infestation. The report did not list termite damages. Weeks after closing on the house my husband and I found termites and termite damages. Softwood on door frames, soft baseboards, deteriorating wood. There were structural damages to the house. Damages that were not reported. I emailed the New Leaf Home inspection. They responded to my email. ... "As home inspectors, we are not liable nor do we report on any wood destroying insects."... I filed a complaint with North Carolina Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. read more

I am buying a townhouse with 2wk close and sellers are out of town for this week and have 2 toddlers. The minute we went under contract I called all over looking for just an HVAC inspection as that is only concern, and I live in the complex and familar. So I signed up at 12:30 I signed up on web and set an appt with one of 3 techs to choose from and many slots to choose from. Then it says we will be in touch. I emailed at 1:30 to try and confirm it and they said they were waiting to hear back from the techs. At 5:30ish I email again and also text the owner Blaine, explaining this is for a home purchase and needed to know if it is confirmed. Then I hear back first that they don't really do HVAC insp and only service the units and that I should call an actual HVAC company. When I point out that they could have told me this at 130 and saved alot of trouble- etc etc I get well you should have planned better for your Due Dilligence Period. I am a out of state home buyer. my agent set my home and septic inspection w/Blaine and team. Artie did the home inspection wish has missed several items that I seen during my visit to home. Upon speaking with him, he made adjustments to the report. Though his mannerisms were great, his detail for a great inspect was lacking. now for the septic, Jason did not do a complete and proper septic inspection. The system never pumped. He did a " looksie". 425.00 that I will not pay for. His mannerism was far from pleasant. I am dissatisfied with the inspection and absolutely with Jason. Completely missed Black mold and master water shut off valve not working-as he is not "allowed too" in his words. However after chatting with the state board he is in fact in his rights to test etc. He simply choose not too and blame it on the SOP's.
