0 stars. ZERO. I made a 10 AM appointment on their website, got an email confirmation then when I called the day of my appointment just to be sure, I was told there is no appointment for me. Long story short I'm told to still for the time I had made online. I get there at 10, fill out all paperwork being a new patient and begin waiting. 11:15 AM I am called to an exam room....an hour and 15 minutes later, but FALSE ALARM, I'm told there are no rooms available then sent back to the waiting area. 11:45 I am called to an exam room again then when I ask when should I expect to see the doctor I'm told there are 2 patients ahead of me. I lost it at that point, now instead of being in the waiting area, I would be waiting in an exam room for God knows how long. I told the medical assistant I had to go, and without a care in the world she responds "ok." If you want to keep your sanity don't come here. I wasted my time and energy for nothing. read more

I had been this place for my son. He got stitches on his forehead and he has acne so, we need medications for healing of scalp and acne. But they wanted sale there own stuff and even there own cream was sold out the doctor didn't give prescription for out side of pharmacy. She want me to come back there place to buy. I called more than 10 times to speak with a doctor but never answers or call backs. Information desk people wasn't nice either. No one likes professional in there. I am still pissed almost 1 year after i visited this joke of a place. Fox pretended to be this genius by talking too much even bordering on derogatory jokes. I was called 4 times after my initial visit paying $30 everytime. Was sent a result which i could have downloaded through google. Was told to go a 5th time, and i asked if they can make that appointment for 2050. An ordinary person saw my issue which was visible on my face and told me what medication to use. I am now happy. The short of it..... - Do NOT go here - you will wait over an hour every time - dr sent me for blood work for spots I had on my stomach. When I asked what she was testing for she said to rule out viruses. When I went home and googled the blood codes on the prescription not only was there a regular blood work up but she was checking me for VDs. All of them. She never asked me about my sexual history and most importantly let me reiterate I ASKED HER WHAT SHE WAS TESTING FOR! - called three times to speak with dr and left message every time. - no one ever called back - had to GO TO THE OFFICE to finally make appointment for blood results - went for appointment to get blood test results and waited for OVER AN HOUR again. - Told receptionist I couldn't wait and that I needed a copy of blood results. - she gave me them......AND SOMEONE ELSES!!!!! Finally I see Dr. Flowers and she must of spent a maximum of 2 minutes ( no exaggeration) with me and gave me a bunch of prescriptions. Oh, by the way, it did not help!! I made an appointment early in the morning around 730 am. I had to be in at work for 930. I showed up early and didn't get seen until 845 am. My face has a few light spots. They were quick to make me sign in and take my $250 consultation fee, but they didn't care that I was waiting over an hour to be seen. Anyway, I get in, finally, after I threatened to leave and get my money back for waiting so long. They finally moved me to a room to be seen. I met Dr. Kally Papantoniou and she had her assistant in the room. The assistant had an attitude. Anyway, she said there is nothing I can do for you other than give you this cream. Whatever you are using on your skin is too sensitive and that's what might be causing the lightness. This literally took 2 minutes. I tried calling in to discuss products and if there was anything more that can be done - and she never returned my call. My $250 was a waste down the drain and I'm really disappointed. read more

Do NOT come here. On my first visit they set me up with the p.a ( not the doctor , m.d). The p.a discussed the treatment plan with me and said I had to come for a follow up to be seen by the doctor. On my follow up visit, the doctor (dr.fox) had a completely different treatment plan than the p.a. At this point I got all the blood work done for the initial treatment plan that was discussed with the p.a...and it was all a waste because dr.fox changed the treatment plan. -these people just want you to come back for unnecessary visits, pay co pay every time, and bill for your visits just so they could make more money. Do yourself a favor and go to a different facility/ doctor where they want to help you--Not suck all of your $$$ out. read more

Never going back there again. Dr. Freidler is extremely rude. I went there because I was breaking out a lil bit on my cheeks. Dr. Freidler came in just for a min and suggested me a treatment plan. Her assistant was like she will forward the prescriptions to the pharmacy when she has time and I was never able to get it. I called the office a couple of times and they said they will send the prescriptions to my pharmacy and they never did. I went to my pharmacy to make sure if they got it and they said no. After a month I went back again because I had an appointment scheduled. Dr. Freidler came after 2 hrs of waiting and as soon as she came she asked if I used what she asked me to and I said no. She started yelling at me saying why didn't I use the creams that she prescribed. I told her the reason and she just denied it and left the room. She also asked her assistant to put some injections on my face which left dark spots. This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. read more

I started going to AD due to a few years of dealing with melasma. I swear, I'd spent thousands on facials, microdermabrasion, topical creams, and finally make up to cover the darkened areas. I was ready to give up and just learn to live with it when I decided to try out chemical peels (it came up when I researched other treatment options). I ran a search for dermatologists who perform the procedure and landed at AD. I'm really happy that I did. Dr. Applebaum is so professional and supportive that I feel completely comfortable with the work that he's been doing to lighten the pigmentation. He always inquires about my own skin regimen to make sure we're both on the same page. & for my last two visits, he's been assisted by a nurse named Kenya who gives the most amazing facial massages after the peel. I'm thisclose to falling asleep. As I wrote, I'm so very happy (and satisfied) with my appointments, because I'm seeing a difference on my face. Yes, erasing hyper pigmentation can be a slow process, but I think it's worth the patience. read more

Anyone with children thinking of taking your child here, please read. I thought this was a good option for a child's dermatologist. I think not. First off the front desk although not rude to me, she definitely could have been friendlier but her demeanor is understandable because she is working ALONE on a desk that should have 3 people but I am sure the salaries of the doctors are more important than the staff. Anyway, my son broke out in a rash over his neck, ears and scalp. He is SIX (6) years old. We have been to a child's dermatologist in the past, but that doctor had a waiting list and I considered this an emergency. I now know why he has a waiting list, he IS GOOD WITH CHILDREN!! We saw the medical assistant first, she was kind and understanding, she took our information without a problem. Then we saw the physician's assistant I believe, she took a look at my son and took a look at his skin and listened to what I had to say. All of a sudden the head honcho walks in Dr. Suzanne Jennifer Friedler, with a gust of wind. She was abrasive she took a glance at his skin and used the ice burning spray to take a look at the "anatomy" of the spots, which hurts but I let her take a look. She was extremely insensitive to the young child sitting in front of her. She quickly suggested we take a biopsy to confirm this is psoriasis of the skin, something I have and I am almost sure, this is not that. She got up took the scalpel and the needle all ready to cut off a piece of his skin in his belly area! No warning, no suggestion, no other options - nothing. She was ready to cut. How is a biopsy the first option? When I told her I don't think that is the best way to go about this diagnosis her answer was "why wait?!" Why wait?, because my son is 6 and he just got this rash, let's try other options prior to cutting off his skin that would need a stitch or two. He was crying once he saw her getting ready (without my approval yet) I basically had to get off my chair and tell her, NO I do NOT want you to do the biopsy yet. Give me another option, where she HUFFED (not appropriate behavior in front of children if you ask ME), and she quickly rattled off medicines to the medical assistant. It was truly uncomfortable for me and the medical assistant and attending doctor. Once she realized I was no nonsense she did change her outlook and proceed to tell me she studied with the best and she had studied child dermatology for many years....... That's great but your personality and interaction with kids would explain otherwise. Once Dr. Friedler left with the physician's assistant, the medical assistant proceed to apologize and understood my concern of not wanting the biopsy YET. I never said never, I just wanted to explore another option prior to the biopsy. I ended up taking my son to Urgent Care the next night and they diagnosed him with Impetigo. Funny how much she studied with children and misdiagnosed him with psoriasis. I'm not sure about other Doctors at this practice, but I wouldn't take your child to see Dr. Friedler, and if you do I hope your experience is more pleasant than mine. read more

This review is based on my experience with this office and the doctors. Quality care and service are below standard. I've been to this office three times in all in the last 7 months for the same . Just recently I took my child for an appointment at this office, the amount of time you spend waiting to be seen by the doctor is way longer then the doctor spends seeing you. The doctor spends literally 2 minutes, gives you a prescription and you are sent on your merry-way. If you don't do your own research you will go back over and over again to this office so they can profit from you and your insurance. I guess misdiagnosing patients are very profitable at this doctor's office, in must be their main practice keeping their patients returning for the same condition. Take your business elsewhere the office does not care enough for quality care for their patients. I have put in a complaint with my insurance company about this office. Now here is my real issue with this office! They will not return calls, be it leaving a message with the secretary or voicemail message in their office inbox. You will not get anyone to call you back, specifically a doctor! I was just in the office 2-days earlier and wanted to discuss the prescription with a doctor....what they tell me is, you have to make an appointment to speak with the doctor, so therefor they can charge your insurance and co-pay. I show up at the office to speak with a doctor, they will NOT see you without an appointment, even though you are present in their office. I brought my child here for a skin condition on the face which was diagnosed as a rash, prescribed a steroid ointment, without any instructions on how to use the ointment from the doctor. From my recent internet research and since I felt my child has been misdiagnosed, I read....steroids should not be use for a prolong period of time, especially on the face. But once again was prescribed a steroid, and was told "its a rash, she'll out grown it". I've been using steroids on my child's face for the last 5 months and this doctor can not look into her medical file to realize this. I had to do my own research to learn this. read more

I have been going to Advanced Dermatology for many years. And throughout all the years, I have been continuously disappointed but frustrated too because finding a great dermatologist is not easy. The waiting times in the office are horrible, the dr's always rush your visits and outside of some minor issues, the bigger issues always remained unremedied. It came to a point where the only thing I willingly went there for was for laser hair removal (which they were one of the first to do in the area at the time the procedure was becoming available). Needless to say, their laser hair removal treatments were VERY expensive. I asked many times for a reduction and instead, the price would just go up ($400+). Due to such an expense, I could never have regular treatments, thus always waiting a few years between each session. I finally booked a session (because you can only go when the laser is available in the office) and was told the machine was broken. I was instructed to call prior to session to ensure machine was fixed. It was ready to go and I showed up to my appointment on time. After TWO HOURS in the waiting room, I was called in-- to be told the machine was broken. Dr. Friedler apologized and offered me a $20 discount for my lost time (really? $20 off for losing two hours on a workday). Or I can have some cream at the front counter (ridiculous). Dr. F promised to call me with an update about the machine. I then demanded to speak to the Office Manager who gave me her card and her "word" that she would be contacting by the end of the day with an update, regardless of the status of the machine. She assured me I would be taken care *and* she guaranteed me a discount on my next session. Needless to say that was over a week ago and haven't heard anything or from anyone at that office. The great news was that I found another fantastic laser hair removal place in Queens and had the session done in a very professional and polite manner. Best part? I wait 8 minutes in that waiting room and paid a grand total of $75. I will never step foot into that dirty, unprofessional and exploitative Advanced Dermatology office again. read more

I only came to this office because my doctor recommended I go here, never again. The dermatologist that I saw was very friendly and attentive. The staff however is horrible. I had called to set up an appointment, the day that I went in the girl at the reception desk could not find me for that day, she said I was scheduled for the following day, she insisted I come back the next day but I said no, I made it for today. I even showed her where I wrote it down. I waited about 45 minutes to see the doctor which I expected because the office waiting area was full. I saw the doctor, she was very helpful. The nurse then proceeded to explain the medication and set up the prescriptions. I left, I was supposed to pick up the medication from the pharmacy that day, the prescription was sent in I guess via the web, I didn't get a chance to go get it. I waited a few days and finally when I went, there was NO prescription in the system. That is poor service, now I need to take time out of my day to call them back to send it in again and they are closed now so I have to wait till monday to call. So annoying. The bus passes by, right in front, which one I don't know. There is street parking but you have to look for a spot. It's not readily available, unless you get lucky. read more

My MD husband sent me there since he refers patients. Spent nite time the resident than doctor, medication prescribed not covered by insurance and out of pocket will cost $600+ been calling for two days to get a different Rx and haven't heard back as of yet. MIL tried making an appointment and was on hold for 20 minutes!!! Girls are very chatty at front desk among themselves. She will be cancelling appointment due to my experience. I've been coming to Advanced Dermatology for several years. Dr. Fried removed several keloids on my ears that were a result of ear piercings. I think Dr. Fried is a great doctor and my keloids are all gone now. My biggest issue with this dermatologist and the main reason for a less than 5 star review is the overbooking and ridiculous wait times at this office. In the 7 years that I have been coming to this location, I have never waited less than 1 hour to be seen. The longest I've waited to be seen by the doctor for a 5-10 minute appointment was 2.5 hours. I think the office needs to stop overbooking its doctors. This is the reason they have such horrible reviews on here. No one has time to sit in a doctor's office for 2 hours waiting to be seen. Dr. Fried is a great doctor but the more they overbook him, the more patients he will continue to lose. read more

Pleeeeeeeeeeease Dr DiSpaltro, stop practicing. You're not a doctor. You don't empathize with your patients. Came in for a simple plan to treat my acne/scars, was interrupted and belittled the entire time. When I asked to not take any medication he told me I was "jumping the Gun" and never bothered to ask or even TOUCH my face to see what condition it was in. He prescribed me a wash and a lotion to use and due to my extremely sensitive skin I have broke out all over my face and I am so embarrassed. If he took the time to get to know his patients, understand who they are, and listened to them, maybe he wouldn't be such a horrible person. In my experience, NPs and PAs are the way to go, I believe the brunette PA's name at advanced dermatology is Melissa, she took SUCH amazing care of me, had a conversation with me and treated Dr DiSpaltro's destruction of my face perfectly. Now I'm trying to get my skin better, and with the help of Melissa I'm comfortable and I believe she will help me get better. 5 Stars for the amazing PA and a big 0 for the arrogant rude doctor! read more

The insurance paperwork for approval was never submitted (twice). I was cancelled last minute both times (last minute refers to travel time!). The staff is terrible. I got transferred 6 times before i could get an answer which at the end was wrong. Never experienced such unprofessional work. Terrible considering this is an office dealing with medical patients. Hi, I had to visit the Fresh Meadows office couple of times so far since it's near my house and every time there's a unfortunate event that makes wonder my decision for visiting the office again, but I've never seen the same doctor twice. I think all the doctors work differently and there are pro and cons. Let's start with the receptions, the first person you'll meet when you walk in. They are always busy, not welcoming, not friendly and no time to look at you when talking to you. On the first visit, I wrote my name and I filled out few forms and waited around 45 mins, then went to the reception and asked what's going on, and she said "oh you have to give those forms so I can enter it to the computer before you see the doctor" so I waited another 40 mins. On another visit, the receptionist skipped over my name somehow and forgot about me and on another visit after waiting 20 mins she told me you have to go to the other entrance, the doctor works there today, so I waited another 20 mins. And on another visit they refused to let me in until I called the billing and made sure I paid all my bills, which I've never received by mail. Let's talk about doctors now. Dr. Fox simply couldn't care less and was more interested to flirt with the medical assistant than answering my question; the interesting part is that I've heard that she had left the office since, good for her. I waited an hr to see him for 2-3 mins, left the room 2-3 times, and came back after 10-15 mins. Even when he answered my question, he mostly tried to make fun of me and laugh about it. He mentioned that they will send me a booklet to help me out with my allergies which I never received. Anyway I would NEVER see him again. Not sure what to say about Dr. Friedler, she listens more that Dr. Fox but still I wasn't sure if she knew what's she doing. "Try this and let's see..." Anyway the most annoying thing about this visit was that she send her inters first and I had to explain everything to them and then to the doctor. Also I wanted about an hour to see her and she was in the room for about 8-10 mins but she had to leave and come back. I probably won't go to see her again. Mr. Byrne was OK, he took the time to answer my questions but I think his diagnosis wasn't right. It didn't work out for me and the issue lasted for some time and I stopped caring. The thing I learned later on was that he's not a doctor, he's the PA there. So I paid to see a doctor and didn't, and no one mentioned that to me. Again, I had to wait more than an hr to get in, middle of the day, super busy. Dr. Troccoli was good, he did his best to answer my question I'm sure even I didn't learn much about the matter from him. However the medications he gave me were very rare, one the cream wasn't covered by my insurance and the other one was very questionable. The pharmacist is my friend for years and he mentioned he's never seen these medications for my issue, which was a very typical matter. I took the pill for 2-3 days and everything I got so dizzy and I had to stop it. He asked to come in for follow up but I might probably cancel it. Hope this helps. I was really happy to find a dermatology office that had late night hours but was quickly disappointed when I discovered that this office was actually an american horror story. Dr. Fox is vile and inappropriate. Upon meeting the doctor he immediately got in my face and I asked me if knew what the odds were of passing on my skin condition to my future children. I told him I was not here for a genetic consultation and that I did not care about the odds. Then he told me that I should loose weight but not in a concerning way BUT rather a demeaning way. He told me that I looked like I could loose a few pounds. So rude!!!!! Then he proceeded to say that I did not look bulimic or like a holocaust victim and that if I looked weight I would looks great. This was all super super inappropriate and I felt very uncomfortable. He also made a comment about how my body looked like his wife's and I felt very creeped out. When I tried to explain to him that my minimal weight gain was due to some stresses in life and I was on top of it he said that excuses are just excuses if I ate ice cream it doesn't matter why I did just that I did-that it was all calories! I have no words!!!! On top of being judge and belittled, dr. Fox pushed me to agree to taking humera. Despite the fact that I told him several times that I did not want to take it, he kept pushing it over and over and over and over. I guess he sits in that drug company's pocket. I would never go back to him and do not recommend him to anyone. I do not mind having a doctor telling me I need to loose weight if it will better my health but his mannerisms are inappropriate and demeaning!
