I literally could have saved myself hundreds of dollars by going to another doctor. Oh, and proper care. Do not come here for balding (alopecia). Long story short, certain remedies work for some people's types of balding and certain remedies don't work for other people's types of balding. He gave me steroid injections and topical steroid medicine to use when I didn't even need it. How I know is I got a second opinion from another doctor who was more an academic than Dr. Kleinberg. Then after getting the consultation from the second doctor I did my own research and found that I indeed did not need the steroid remedies he gave me since I did not have typical male pattern balding (androgenic alopecia). It was just my hairline balding. On top of that these useless remedies were giving me acne. When I left the appointment with the second doctor, he had himself a pitiful laugh his with his staff when I was on my way out the door after seeing him, explaining to his staff that another doctor gave me steroid injections for my hair when I didn't even need it. Super embarrassing because not only did I not need it, they sent me a medical bill for these "injections", and on each appointment they charged me for "medical examination" which did not even happen each appointment I had. If you want to run a business, fine. But if you are going to charge common people for every single dollar you can on your job then at least do the work correctly. They even had the audacity to send me many of those bills in the mail saying I owed them money for the unnecessary "injections" and the imaginary "medically exams" on top of my already expensive copay. Each bill increasing due to interest. You guys are never getting that money you billed me on top of the copay. The copay already cost hundreds. You owe me it if anything. Last thing I'll say is I work as a pharmacist which means I actually have a degree of health literacy. I can't be the only one that got taken advantage of if that's the case. Only difference is you've taken advantage of the people not as literate in this field, but that isn't their job or their responsibility, and that is why they came to you. Scammers! read more

I hate to do this but this doctor was not good. The majority of the time he asked questions about my personal life and made small talk. The reason I was there for a skin check. He had me undress in front of him and did not give me a gown to put on. There was no female in the room to chaperone, just me and him. He had me sit on an old leather exam chair that had no paper to line it without clothes on. YUUUUCK. When I turned around he made a comment about about how my behind was not tan-- awkward and horribly uncomfortable and wrong. After a very brief exam without a special scope to look closer at any moles, he had me put my clothes back on in front of him. I could not have gotten out of their quick enough. The office is extremely old, dirty and empty. I was the only patient there. read more

This wonderful review is been overdue but I've been seeing Dr. Kleinberg since my teens, and since before clinic changed it's practice name to SINY Dermatology. My first visit with Dr. Kleinberg was for acne, freckles and large pores., later on in life, I notice a small skin tags showing all over my neck and back as I hit mid 30. Keeping my skin on track and close watch I was diagnosed other skin problems in my 40 and last year I was diagnosed with first stage of Basal Skin Cancer and shocked yet scared as well but my only thought was feeling grateful being in his care and regardless other patients thought and opinion of him and his practice I was filled with gratitude to him along with his team of doctors, nurses and office staff like Luz who's been there for years and she's amazing welcoming person. So if you sit in his evaluation room quietly he will try to ease your confidence and make conversation with you so when visiting him your trust levels so be highly appreciated of doctor without bad judgement of his practice his caring to be judged with all your unkind comments and see how his address your conditions according to your health problems and concerns with the nurses once he has seen your medical record he has nothing else to ask you unless it's important to you as patient never to fail to address your health concerns but his a friendly, kind and caring dermatologist. I do not recommend anyone going to see this doctor for the following reasons. - The doctor doesn't thoroughly check anything on your skin, instead he just listens for a few seconds and just assigns you medicine. - The medicine provided to me was temporary and the same problem returned the minute advised use time was over. - Front desk clerk is extremely rude. (Went in for a follow up visit, she will ignore you and speak to you with an attitude, she will answer the phone as she pleases and ignore the fact that she is speaking to you, while having you stand there for up to 10 minutes without a single apology and act as if her poor behaviour is proper. - The doctor sits on small chair at the front desk area after each visit and just stairs at the wall until his next patient is called. (I went there twice and witnessed this exact thing both times, makes no sense). - Overall, the problem you go there for will not be fixed, the clerk will be rude to you, and you will leave disappointed. read more

Awful. Straight up awful!!! I've had wart issues for a good amount of time. Before Dr. Kleinberg I went to a different dermatologist. I thought my previous dermatologist wasn't that good because I would wait a long time, and sometimes it took a while for the warts to go away. However, they always ended up going away. Though the wait over there was very long, the warts eventually went away. Due to the inconvenience of a wait at the previous one, I decided to switch. I saw Dr. Kleinberg had a great rating, so I gave him a try. Not only has my warts not gone away after going to him for almost 5 months now... they've gotten worse! Doesn't remember his patients names or anything about them, despite seeing me every 2 weeks for the past 5 months. I would NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE to Dr. Kleinberg. I don't care how long the wait is at my old dermatologist, I guarantee you they will know who I am, and get my warts treated. DONT COME HERE! read more

WOW.... omg just wow. I literally paid $30so the doctor could have a conversation about my life? I just paid $30 to have a hair shampoo prescribed when I CLEARLY NEED SOMETHING FOR MY DRY FACE??? The doctor is nice when it comes to having a convo but I didn't really need that. I can't believe what I just experienced. Save yourself some dollars and pass on this guy. We literally had a 15 min conversation about my favorite foods, whether I like certain things or not, my marriage life and how long has it been...... and about 2-3 mins on what I need for my face. I saw Dr.Kleinberg three days ago, not bad and not great. I spent about a total of 6 minutes, maybe less in his exam room. 5 minutes and 58 seconds of that time were spent answering questions for his records file and just answering questions about my job, 2 seconds of examining the dry skin around my nose. I left with 3 prescriptions, a box of pills and $50 less in my wallet for co pay, that he kind of insisted be in cash. I do question why I was given acne medication and dandruff shampoo, I haven't had dandruff since I was a child, the only reason I know what it was is because the Pharmacist brought it up. I am not questioning the Dr but all the medication seemed to be severe overkill, it was some dry skin around my nose that moisturizers were having difficulty treating. The areas cleared up already so he did his job, just wasn't thrilled with a 2 second examination. Seems like he schedules 300 appointments the days he is open and needs to get everyone out in under 5 minutes. I was never even asked how I was treating the area or when the worst dry breakouts occurred. I mentioned it while he was writing but I don't think he was paying attention, he did not acknowledge my comment, only turned around to ask if I was paying in cash. If you are looking for a thorough visit with a good Q and A session then this place may not be for you. My condition was very minor so I'm sure all of the medications covered the basics. I am suppose to return in 4 weeks but I doubt I will be keeping my appointment. Wait 20 minutes to see him for 2 and make a cash co pay to not examine the problem area, I think not. Jesus, even with decent insurance it cost me $120 at Walgreens for the medicine that I may not have needed, I don't have acne or dandruff. I've had a much better experience with Dr. Kleinberg than the original reviewer. I first started seeing him back in 2009, having major acne breakouts. He prescribed Solodyn and suggested a microdermabrasion for scarring. Within a month my breakouts came to a halt. The first microderm was like a magic wand, all my dark spots were gone in that one visit. I've kept up with them every so often to keep my skin looking fresh. The price is also reasonable. The receptionist, Luz, is the sweetest lady I've ever met. Dr. Kleinberg takes a bit of warming up to, but once you get to talking with him, his personality really comes through. He is not at all rude or unprofessional, he is just very blunt. Nice guy and a great practice in Forest Hills. Highly recommended! read more

I ended up going back today for a microdermabrasion, I have many done in the past but today was probably 1 of the best, not just because of the service but Louise was really friendly and had alot of knowledgable info. I saw Dr. Kleinberg based on recommendation but Im really not pleased. His staff is wonderful they are very welcoming and warm and the wait time to see Dr. Kleinberg is super short. I came to Dr. Kleinberg because of cystic acne and honestly he was no help at all, I felt that he didn't take my acne seriously and just kept prescribing things that didn't agree with my skin and had no effect. Acne can take such a toll on a persons self confidence and honestly can be rather depressing and to see a Dr. that didn't take me seriously wasn't okay. Every time I went it was the same questions, 1. where are you from? 2. where do you work? 3. Are you a student ? 4. Where are your parents from. This was the questionnaire EVERY TIME idk why but I was under the impression he didn't remember me which was rude seeing as I saw him almost every 3 weeks. I have been struggling with Acne for quite some time now (almost 8 years) and have been to number of dermatologists as I don't think I have found the right one. My first two dermatologists were OK as they at least listened to my problems and gave me their time. Dr. Kleinberg was the worst of all as he did not even look at my acne and gave me prescription for two medicines. He was very rude, not professional at all. After waiting for him for 20 minutes, he only gave me 3 minutes in his office and didn't try to understand my problem. I would not recommend him to anyone at all! read more

My fiance recommended I see Dr. Kleinberg for a mark on my face (our wedding was in a few months and i didn't want to have a scar) I was able to get an appointment fairly soon, the doctor has 2 office locations: one in queens near queens blvd and another on park avenue in the city. I went to the park avenue office, the receptionist was friendly and i didn't have to wait very long to see the doctor. Dr. Kleinberg was very friendly and personable unlike other doctor I've met. He made a point to get to know me and not just the reason for my visit. All in all the scar is barley noticeable and i will definitely keep him as my dermatologist should any future issues arise....many thanks to the fiance. read more

Dr. Kleinberg is very rude. Not blunt, but rude. The office is small but very clean and the wait time is short, only because he spends a max of 5 minutes with each patient. When I showed him my problem areas he told me what it was and then said I can google it. What?! Um, you're a doctor for a reason to educate and help people. He also kept asking me what religion I was which made me extremely uncomfortable. He seemed to be more interested in that rather than helping me. read more

Yelp should have a negative star rating for physicians like him. This past summer while in New York, I developed a wart on my finger. Having had one before, I was familiar with the necessary procedure to remove it and searched for a local dermatologist. Dr. Kleinberg was close to me, accepted my insurance, and had no complaints against him on the website I used. My first first dermatologist had removed the wart by using local anesthesia, then cutting it off. This process was not even 30 minutes and begin healing in a week - no scar and the wart hasn't returned. When I asked Dr. Kleinberg to perform the same procedure, he said cutting it off was not sufficient as the wart could grow back - rather, he would freeze it off. Wart removal, a basic out-patient procedure, through freezing and cutting are both standards used today - the choice is the physician's. The wart on my finger was located on the first knuckle from my hand. Dr. Kleinberg proceeded to freeze my finger to such an extent that he killed not only the wart, but gave me freezer burn on my entire knuckle - killing the surrounding skin on almost half of my finger and, on the knuckle where the wart was located, down to the bone. As a result, I could not move or bend my finger, make a fist, and could only really use my thumb because of the severity of the "healing" process due to Kleinberg's inability to perform a simply procedure. Have you ever tried grabbing something or typing without moving your ring finger? The physician I consulted once my finger turned purple, swollen, and started leaking gave me an antibiotic as to prevent infection; and, told me that Kleinberg had simply performed the procedure incorrectly - freezing too much skin and for too long. Thanks to that physician, my finger healed without infection and I currently only have a scar from the entire ordeal; but, if I can help anyone else avoid what I went through I will. If Kleinberg can't perform something as simple as wart removal, it worries me that he might have patients with something severe. read more

Ok - well, I'd like to weigh in on this doc. First off, will say I've been going to derm folks for 25 years and have seen probably a dozen different doctors (mainly b/c I haven't the patience to wait and if slow at work like to go to someone nearby that very same day). I've had warts removed, acne treated and other things worked on. If you go in there with multiple ailments, every doc out there will have limits as to what they'll treat now and what they ask you to come back for. Couple days ago one doc (young dr who was part of larger practice) said it'd be $200 extra to treat this thing (mole) on my back - this after making me wait 55 minutes- wouldn't / couldn't negotiate down to even like 100 (on top of co-pay and whatever they get from ins co). Dr. Kleinberg (who I went to long ago before it became inconvenient to go to upper east side) took care of it. Likewise with other stuff that this other doc refused to treat couple of days ago. Yes, I need to go back and it will take some time but it's only copay vs several hundred dollars and won't have long wait (I waited 10 min today). Re other guy's wart and apparent overtreatment - I had that exact same sitch and yes, you do need to really go overboard. Last wart I had treated was little thing and she didn't do so much freezing (which IS the way to do it) and it came back. (or you need to make another visit couple weeks later to retreat). I've been to doctor kleinberg maybe 6 or 7 times - never has he been short or rude. (I don't know where that comes from.) Yes, like anyone, he's gonna want to get you in and out of there and move on to the next patient.
