I've been going to this dermatology office for years and they've been a pleasure to work with. I heard the center has been voted as one of the best dermatology practices in Queens and I believe it. I usually see Phoebe Tam for my examinations and she's been great, specifically having found abnormally growing cells. I've had some mole removals due to this, with the biggest outpatient procedure once done by Dr. Zuckerman. Besides removing bad and suspicious moles, Phoebe has helped me with some recurring skin issues and prescribed me just what I've needed, as well as reducing some oil glands I've had trouble with. TLDR: poor quality of service from the doctor. I've gone to The Dermatology Center now 3-4 times over the past 2 years or so. My entire family has seen the doctor (or his staff) for various reasons. It has always felt hurried and impersonal, though that seems to be par for dermatologists from what I've read. That said, my latest encounter with the doctor has effectively been the last straw. He comes in without knowing the history of the patient (and reads his ipad in front of you), then quickly prescribes a medication with barely any explanation. I asked him a couple questions and wanted to know what the name of the active ingredient was and his reaction was - "are you in medicine or something"? I'm paraphrasing as I don't remember the exact wording but give me a break, I'm the patient, I can ask all the questions I want and deserve a thoughtful response with patience. At the end of the visit he didn't even bother to say goodbye and just walked out the door. I've experienced many dentists, OBGYNs, pediatricians, general physicians, and even other derms yet I've never had this kind of poor customer experience before. For all I know, the doctor may be quite competent as a derm but he lacks in the social skills required to provide a warm/engaging/thoughtful/patient experience. On another note, the medicine he prescribed me was supposed to be covered by my insurance and they sent the script to a CVS. I'm told later that CVS actually doesn't fill this particular medication and called the front desk back to which the front desk said "oh yea CVS doesn't fill this type of stuff". If your front desk staff knows this how does your other staff not know (or worse, not care) to send the script to the right kind of pharmacy? I also find out later that my insurance actually doesn't cover this medication so this entire visit to the doctor was a waste of my time. I'm not naive enough to think that medical practice in the US these days is meeting the bar in terms of customer service but at a minimum I'm voting with my wallet by choosing not to go here again and writing a review so others can make an incrementally more informed decision. Lastly, other reviews have said this place is accessible - it absolutely is not. It's on Bell road where there is severely limited street parking and no good side road parking either. You can't park in the shopping center across the street (or you can and risk getting towed). Every time I have to plan extra time just to find street parking and hope to get lucky. Came in for an appointment as oer my primary care physician who insisted that i visit them. This was just a check up anf follow up for my keloids. I met with Dr phoebe Tam, who was very caring and engaging. Theu did a skin check up for cancers, moles and any abnormalities. All went well but they did recommend either laser treatment for my sun spots or to use a chemical treatment. By the way neither treatments are covereded by my insurance. I am currently looking at the chemical treatment as it would be the least expensive. I was advise to look into using silicone scar sheets for my skin. Oversll it was a very thorough examination. Parking was very difficult, we had to oark like 3 bloxks away from the main street. read more

The Dermatology Center has been a quality Facility and provides excellent services. However, the Office Manager treats Patients with disdain and a talk down way. In all our years as a Patient we have NEVER been talked to in such a degrading fashion. Maybe she should appreciate Patients and their concerns. I visited The Dermatology Center because I developed not one but two separate rashes. I saw Dr. Phoebe Tam. She is amazing. She examined me thoroughly and listened to all my concerns. I did not feel rushed whatsoever. Her manner of speaking is so pleasant, she is so calm and patient, and totally put me at ease regarding my condition, and explained how to use the creams she was prescribing. The young woman, that led me to the exam room (unfortunately I did not catch her name) was also great. She took down all the information regarding the reason for my visit, and made sure that she did not miss any details and even recorded the name of the cream I've been using so far. The lady at the front desk is also great, so polite and professional, and she welcomed me as a new patient. Dr. Tam's assistant, who was present during the examination, is also great. They all made me feel safe and comfortable during the visit. The waiting room is clean and neat, and spacious, there is a sense that you are going to be taken care of, and you are in good hands. My skin has improved much since I started seeing Dr Zuckerman. Previously I had only seen the Physician Assistants, who are nice, but I felt I wasn't making progress with my skin conditions. I called to pull my files and try another place and was given the option of seeing the doctor the next day. I did and in a few visits got everything cleared up. They even put me on to Baybridge Pharmacy, which delivers for FREE. The wait times were also great and I was in and out on both visits. While visits do take a good amount of lead time for the doctor it's worth planning in advance. read more

My last visit to this Dermatology Center was 3 years ago. Looks like the business has grown . It was packed when I walked in for a 5:45 pm appointment . I was not seen by the PA Phoebe until like 1 1/2 hrs after. It was the worst wait time I'd been to, worst than my regular primary care nor OB Gyn offices. I was never seen by the resident doctor himself since I'd been coming to this office years ago. I don't mind much as my need doesn't need clinical treatment as per se. I come for cosmetic purpose only and Phoebe has been good to me, gentle and kind. She prescribed meds for some light skin issue I had. But I hear what other clients were complaining about. They over booked the place. It's your decision if you are willing to wait for their service . If you find other place that will work for you, then go ahead. They seem don't care . Their business is doing well by how I see it. It has a good social standing with the awards they displayed in the waiting room. Compliments from former patients were posted and hanged on the patient's room as well. This doctor is probably good. The office is clean and neat. The Dermatology Center is located in Bayside and easily accessible. I've been going there for many years and always have great results. Dr. Jordan Zuckerman takes the time to explain every procedure and every result to you without that annoying hurry up atmosphere! His staff are also great and you won't be disappointed when you ask them questions. If you happen to go to this dermatology center please ask to see Febe Tam. I have been going to her for the last 6 months and it has been a wonderful experience with her. Febe is patient, thorough and understanding. There was one time I was really upset about this skin rash I had, i was really nervous about it and got a little upset, but she was so sweet and comforting, but professional at the same time. I hope I am making sense lol. She takes her time with you and makes you feel comfortable. I couldn't ask for a better dermatologist. I have never seen Dr. Zuckerman before, but I have heard some great things. There is one dermatologist you NEED to avoid and that is Dr. Leo! He is rude, rushes you, interrupts you and has a very bad bedside manner. He is so lackidazical and just looks like he doesn't care. I went to him initially for my skin problems and I was wanting answers. It was all one word answers with him which I didn't appreciate. I was so upset i almost didn't go back and went somewhere else. I asked for another dermatologist and they recommended Febe!! I am so glad they did because if it wasn't for her, I would have went else where. The Dermatology Center is a great place to come to for your skin needs! I have had nothing but a great experience with Dr. Zuckerman, Phoebe, and Leo. Back in 2012, I came to see them desperate with an answer to my skin problem. I had an issue that no other dermatologist could diagnose. As soon as I came here a punch biopsy was done and I was finally given an answer to my problem. Recently, I woke up with an issue and thought of them right away. I called and happened to grab a last minute cancellation and saw Dr. Zuckerman and his MA Amanda. They listened and addressed my questions and concerns. I've been coming to this Dermatology office for four months now for Laser Hair Removal. My ingrown hairs and KP condition has gotten so severe on both arms and my face. I developed a "skin picking problem" trying to tweeze out my ingrown hairs. I ended up looking like an embarrassing disaster with no self-control. My brother-in-law referred me to this office, to see Phoebe who has helped him so much with a variety of skin-related issues. I was really embarrassed about showing anyone my f**ked up skin. To preface, I also have a history of allergies, skin hives and idiopathic, chronic Eczema and developed at a young age an uncontrollable scratching problem (mostly while asleep, unconsciously). And, every other Dermatology office I have visited since elementary school, has made me feel like shit, even ashamed of my skin problems, with NO improvements. And, although I initially went to see Phoebe for Laser hair removal, I would consult her about my other skin conditions during the visits. And, she has offered me many helpful/useful advice on a professional and personal level, which I can not appreciate enough. Phoebe made me feel so comfortable during visits, that I have even shown her the worst of my skin condition, which I've been hiding for 2 years now. I really DO NOT understand the negative reviews. In regard, to appointment scheduling and wait time, it is pretty standard at this office. If anything, this office has more times than not, been willing to accommodate me with my erratic work schedule or squeeze me in before closing time. And there is a REASON for a wait time, obviously they are taking the much needed time to carefully examine their patients and provide quality patient care. I've been coming here for almost a decade due to the fact that I've always been covered in piercings. Whenever I needed treatment for a keloid I got fantastic results. The doctors know what they are doing even & are great at it. Last time I was there I had to get a small keloid cut off of my nose & cauterized. I didn't feel a thing & have no scar. As for the wait time... I've never had a good experience in that waiting room so if you have things to do you're better off rescheduling. I don't mind it much because I always bring a book & my headphones. But the quality of care you get from the doctors is what is important in my book. read more

I'm knocking off a star just because of their terrible scheduling. I come here just to see Phoebe (assuming this is how she spells it), she's very knowledgeable. My skin has been improving ever since. But waiting to be seen with her can take AT LEAST an hour. Get ready to waste so much time waiting. I've probably spent an hour and a half there just waiting for my name to be called even if I get there on time or early for my appointment. 100% recommend not coming here... They over book and make you wait way past your appointment time. On top of that they "sometimes charge co-pay" when I gave them my insurance card and asked for them to contact the insurance to figure this out. Michelle the secretary told me they did not answer the phone and tried to charge me a $75 co-pay for a solution spray to my hand. The office does not view you as a patient but as a dollar sign. Wearing a mask due to Covid caused me to breakout worse than I did as a teenager. I held off on finding a dermatologist hoping it would go away on its own, but the problem continued until I found Bayside Dermatology. My acne started clearing up drastically after the very first visit. The staff is awesome, very informative and helpful. It wasn't a long wait in the waiting room like a lot of other offices, my only regret is waiting so long to call in to book my initial visit. I've been to this Dermatology Center on numerous occasions and have seen both Dr. Zuckerman & Phoebe, and they are BOTH great medical providers in their own right. Initially, I went there for a severe Eczema flare-up on both of hands, which was affecting my life negatively in all aspects. The skin on my hands were not only painful and ugly, but also very embarrassing. After I saw Phoebe for my Eczema flare-up, she has not only treated my condition but also significantly improved my quality of life and self-confidence. Recently, I've gotten into the cosmetic trends, i.e., laser hair removal, Botox injections, etc. I've been to several OTHER medical practitioners to try out different cosmetic procedures. But ultimately, I ended up sorely disappointed and I got ripped off for shitty craftsmanship. Not long ago, I went for a consultation with Phoebe for the same procedures. It was the most thorough and informative consultation, in regard to cosmetic procedures. Since then, I've been going SOLELY to Phoebe for Botox, Fillers, and Laser Hair Removal. I can not be happier with the results and the quality of patient care I receive each time. I referred my whole family, including my precious daughter and sister who also suffer from an awful hereditary skin conditions. Many of the things that the other reviews say are true. I have to specify that I would like to see Dr. Zuckerman if I really want to see him. I have seen a PA, but I forgot her name. I considered it just a progress report between seeing the real doctor. I do feel that if my insurance is being billed to see a doctor, I should see a doctor. I always book my appointment for the early morning because the wait can be long. They do overbook. The support staff are not the cheeriest but I think that's due to management's expectations of processing so many patients. Parking is horrendous. I usually have to take an Uber or get a ride. I have seen progress in my condition. Treatment has been notable and adequate. Dr. Z has treated me well. I have been using Dr. Z's products. The products do not seem to agitate my condition. I will continue treatment but within the parameters of booking an appointment in the morning and specifying if I feel that I need to see Dr. Z for a proper status update. read more

Although I wrote a review about a year ago I felt the need to update it again and it is only for the better (if that is possible) As a senior citizen I have gone to many practices over the years but this place has it all. From the people that answer the phone who are always cordial & accommodating to Maria the medical assistant who always finds the time to clarify something for me or answer my sometimes million & one questions.
