I was actually searching for a dermatologist to go to and came upon this....oh the memories!!!!!!! I was working there for less than a month, I would say a decade ago while going to school. I left because the front desk lady there supposedly have "seniority" is a bitch to everyone including newly hired receptionists. She's in one of the photos, the lady on the left in green. I'm not surprised the office is still shitty. She's a horrible horrible person to patients and new hires. I won't be surprised if employee turn over rate is high, she just wants to kick everyone out so she can work there till she's 90. Why is the front desk incompetent? Maybe because she's still there pretending to be training new hires but actually verbally abusing them like she did to me years ago, I was too young to report her and speak up!!!!! So to the new hires please speak up and don't be afraid! Anyways I won't be surprised she's still there, after all she did scare everyone else away, what a miserable being. I work the front desk at a dentist's office, so perhaps I've got a biased view of how things should be. I'm a pretty low maintenance kind of gal, though. I don't expect much. Based on one visit, I see a lot that can be improved upon. The receptionists are really unprofessional and inefficient. Sure, they're probably young and inexperienced, but they seem to lack basic customer service skills. I came in with my sister, who has been to Queens Crossing Dermatology before. They made our appointments over the phone, but when we got there, we were seated for half an hour before they even mentioned to my sister that she needed to get a new doctor's referral for every visit (what the hell?). My sister was annoyed because they didn't mention this when making the appointment. When she asked if the receptionist could call her doctor's office to get the referral, she was told to do it herself. The girl finally made the call for her only because the cell phone reception in the office is AWFUL. Plus, another receptionist (the baby faced one with huge, crazy eyes) addressed my reasonable inquiries as if she was talking to an idiot. I came on a Friday and saw Dr. Yee. She seemed nice enough, but rushed through our appointment and seemed to want me out of her office. Is that how you treat a new patient? I can see why another Yelper said patients are treated like dollar signs. I think appointments there are booked in ten minute intervals, since mine and my sister's appointments were ten minutes apart. The doctor might as well have tapped her foot and crossed her arms. After she answered all the questions related to my initial reason for the visit, she seemed ready to let me walk out the door. I had to ASK her to do a full body check on me. It lasted all of 15 seconds, and if there's currently anything malignant on my body, I'm sure she missed it. With skin cancer on the rise, you'd think a thorough full body check would be the first thing a derma-frickin-tologist would offer a new patient! I was told I'd need to get another referral if I wanted a follow-up visit. Honestly, I'm not sure it's worth the trouble of getting another referral from my doctor to come back here. read more

Queens Crossing Dermatology When I walked into the office, I signed in like usual and took a seat. The assistant at the front called for me and told me I had a 30 dollar copay. I said okay. 2 minutes later she called me up and told me to pay my 30 dollar copay now. I heard her the first time, but she insisted that I pay. I was a bit shocked at her tone as well. Why would I walk out without paying for something? I usually pay the copay at the end when I make another appointment. I said fuck it, whatever. I get called to the office and the doctor comes in. I tell her my problem about some thinning hair that I was noticing. I told her I was getting finasteride 5mg and cutting them into fourths. I told her I couldnt afford propecia because it's labeled as "cosmetic use" and my insurance will not cover it. She basically spent a minute telling me how finasteride 5mg was for the prostate. It wasn't her reasoning that got me so pissed off, It was her snotty comment at the end about how it was "immoral" to give a prostate drug. The last time I checked, II 5-alpha reductase 1mg or 5mg still affects your prostate reguardless. Sorry doc, but it's the SAME fucking drug. Finastride 5mg is actually covered under most insurance plans. It would probably save people about $1000 bucks a year. I work in a pharmacy, Im not stupid I know how it works. Thank you for that 2 minute check up. I can see why you absolutely need to collect copays in the beginning. I'm sure plenty of people have walked out on you for your helpful attitude and great service. For those of you who are going to this dermatology office be warned, If I were you, I'd save your money and go elsewhere or find an oversea's pharmacy to buy your hairloss drug. Yes, The treatment I received was stellar and well planned out...HOWEVER... 1. Receptionists are completely unprofessional; lacks very basic customer service skills - for example, one receptionist basically screams out your copayment, and then tells the entire room your birthday, while impolitely asking for your $$. 2. THE WAIT - I can understand if you are understaffed once in a while, but this is a customer relations based business. I have been there 10+ times and each visit had a wait time of 35-45 minutes, if not more. 3. Appointment reminders - this is completely useless since the receptionist calls you but doesn't remind you what TIME your appointment is... I just saw Dr. Vivian Yee for vitiligo and started laser treatment. They have the Excimer laser which uses UV light to treat vitiligo. I have to come back at least twice a week. Great if you have Healthfirst insurance as this covers everything. read more

I had a good experience at Queens Crossing Dermatology. A consultation is $60 if you don't have insurance (I don't). My wait was about 30 mins. Dr. Yee gave me a full body check, and removed a mole I was worried about. Removing the mole was an additional $60, and the lad fee will be about $115. The whole procedure took only minutes. Dr. Yee was friendly and professional, I felt quite comfortable with her. read more

We made our follow up visit three week ago and today at your office I was told that my referral expired and need a new one. Called my family doctor and they said will fax it but cannot be right away since the doctor is seeing patients which I understand. Your staff should have called me and tell me before hand and not when i am already at your office. They want me to pay $80 deposit which I don't have at the time. She said then wait for your referral or you will not be seen. No single apology BUT the referral is required. Since this is your staff mistake of not letting me know in advance and this is not my first visit why can't you just make an exception to the rule. The bottom is your office don't respect our time and don't care about patients. The utmost importance is MONEY. I have been to both Dr. Carol Huang and Dr. Vivian Lee. Hour long wait times for both. Staff is very unfriendly and unhelpful. I have eczema, urticaria and very sensitive skin. Neither dermatologists were able to diagnose my urticaria (allergist I found was able to) and gave me lots of trial and error prescriptions. I wasn't a fan of that. Dr. Huang is terrible. I switched to Dr. Lee but she treats patients as an insurance payout I wanted to remove a few small pen dot moles on my face. Dr. Lee explained everything, removed one and said to come back after it heals to see if I want more removed. A few weeks later, I get a $20 bill from a lab I never heard of. I contact the office who assured me it was a mistake and asks to fax the bill to them. A few days later they call me to say the lab they sent the skin tissue to charges $20 per mole. Dr. Lee assured me I would be covered by my insurance and when I confronted her about this she said I have to pay it. I paid it and never went back. It was awful. I now go to Washington square dermatology and see Dr. Alicia Cool, highly recommend! read more

I don't think I'm ever planning to come to this place again, unless Dr. Huang FIRE those two upper middle-age women in the front desk first because they were unbelievably RUDE to both me and my mother. Like, I don't understand what those two women do there at all. The previous ones were wayyy nicer. Here is my story: First, I called them to make an appointment. You would not believe how many times they put me on hold! Every time I say something, like if they have walk-ins and when Dr. Huang would be there, they would answer and be like, "Hold on a minute, please" in a non-caring way. And once, they kept me holding for a long time so I hung up and called back but they didn't pick up. So I used another number to call and they picked up! Before making my appointment, I asked the lady specifically whether I can come if I had seen Dr. Huang before back when she was still located across Flushing Mall and that lady said yes. And so I hung up, satisfied that I at least made the appointment and that rude lady went off my mind. Or at least I had thought. Then came the day of the appointment, which was today, Memorial's Day. Mind you, I don't live nearby so my parents drove me to her office. I go in and everything seemed fine at first. Then, somehow they tell me that I needed a referral from my doctor. Um, for all my other doctors, I don't need a referral after seeing them once, so what is the deal here? Plus, that lady on the phone NEVER mentioned that I needed a referral, even after I told her that the last time I saw Dr. Huang was when she was still across from Flushing Mall. And I recognized that voice, it was the same voice as the short middle-age lady in the front desk. She tried to rid herself of the blame by saying that the last time I came was in 2008 and that it was two years ago. No shit, um, I did mention that when I called and you never told me that I needed a referral! And then my mom started to talk to them, maybe a little too loudly (But I mean, come on, some people are born to speak very loudly sometime and my mom is such person; that doesn't mean she was being rude to them) to them about other alternatives since our family doctor was not in today, and asking them why they couldn't have told me about the referral thing earlier. You know what they did next, upon the suggestion of that long hair middle-aged woman next to her? They stopped talking and just ignored us, looked down at their desk and CHUCKLED! VERY VERY RUDE! That is no way to treat patients! Dr. Huang, I hope you see this and really talk to those ladies, or better yet, fire them because that is no way to treat patients. Even though I haven't visited in a long time, I came back because you were really nice the last time that I came. But this treatment? I don't think I will ever come back, unless those two women leaves. She quick and on point on the treatment but if your appointment is made already; come in at that time if your come in earlier they will say to you "your next" but after 4 patients it's will be your appt time. This office is a medicaid mill. The schedule is overbooked and all they care about is collecting your copays. I had a 3:00pm appointment and walked in at 2:30pm but was not seen until 4:30pm. The excuse the front desk gave was "there's a lot of emergency walking today." Seriously! I had an appointment. The emergency walk ins do not, so make them wait. This place is a sweatshop. Patients are treated like dollar signs. The moment I arrived the office, I was struck with intense heat and stale air from all the bodies that are sitting around the room waiting to be called in. The ladies from the front desk were curt and unfriendly. I understand that this is a very busy office, however, a hello would've been nice, instead, I was greeted with "do you have your insurance card btw your copay is $45". After paper and cash has been exchanged, I SAT. For about 40 mins outside, then was cattled in with three other patients at the same time, each assigned to a different room and sat for another 20mins. This office operates like a conveyor belt system, one group comes out and another group goes in. Once inside, I noticed how RUSHED all the assistants are. I even saw two assistants running back and forth the hallway, in a hurry to process as many patients as possible. It's like a scene from ER, except this is a dermatology office. Questions were asked in rapid fire succession and attention was short. After the Q & A session with a medical assistant, I was left in the room to stare at your typical poster of ugly skin diseases/conditions. FINALLY, I met Dr. Yee. She was nice and professional. Unforunately, she was also short of time and didn't really give me the indivdiualized attention that I look for in a doctor. On the plus side, I had questions ready to ask and she answered them. On the downside, she responsed in medical terms without offering layman's terms. Sorry doctor, I didn't go to medical school, that's why I went to see you for explanation. I had to further probe and ask to get my answer in digestible fashion. She clearly knows her stuff, but was in too much of a hurry, resulting in poor bedside manners. She was quick with her prescription pad, but didn't explain dosing and administration. Shouldn't a doctor explain to you about dosing before handing out these scripts? I was so rushed that I even forgot to ask her myself. :((( Bottom line: If you go to this office, you will be treated like a cash cow, not a person with individualized problems. If she wasn't so rush, Dr. Yee would have been great. read more

Typically, when you make a medical appointment, save some emergency or act of god, you expect to see your doctor within a reasonable time around your booked appointment. Not an hour+. If you inquire as to how much longer the wait is, you're met with an angry disgruntled middle aged Asian woman with a giant stick up her ass. None too good. My fiancee went there for a lip irritation. I went with her. Doctor Yee took one look at her and said she's dehydrated from the heat. Never mind that she drinks nearly 2 liters of water a day. Never mind that the lip irritation started in the winter. People that stay for the NY winter will be able to tell you that its not hot. Suffice to say, the consultation was a waste of time and we're going to another place in Manhattan. Just to add insult in the end, my fiancee asked about getting a little bit of filler in her cheeks and the doctor told her that its not a good idea, because she would then look like a monkey. She didn't laugh like it was a bad joke. Poor choice of words, we're not sure if she was being racist. My fiancee was pretty angry though. Had to wait an hour to be seen with an appointment and then towards the end of the consultation before we had even finished speaking they brought in another patient and started speaking to her, so that we couldn't even hear properly what the name of the cream was that she needed. read more

Dr. Vivian Yee was great and then even greater! I have been going to her for several months for laser treatments for my spider veins. She has always made me feel comfortable and is always considerate of the pain and totally helps me get through it. My legs looks awesome and I am soooo happy with the outcome. After several treatments I started getting curious about other cosmetic treatments like botox and fillers. Dr. Yee took the time to thoroughly explain to me what they are and how they are used. So I decided to go for it! I received botox in my forehead, around my eyes and in between by eyebrows. I was also very concerned about my laugh lines but her advice was to put fillers in my cheek bones and not in the laugh lines. This had several affects: it lifted my skin to ease the lines a bit, it made my face more 3-dimentional and less flat, and gave me those high cheek bones I'd always been jealous of. The overall effect is AWESOME! I can't tell you how many compliments I have received about how youthful I look. All these compliments is what prompted me to write this review. The work Dr. Yee has done looks so natural and yet it is so effective that I am in awe of her skill and am so grateful she is my dermatologist. read more

A friend has recommended me to Dr. Vivian Yee and I am happy to say that I have finally found a doctor who meets all my medical needs. She was professional without interrupting you with a quick and easy diagnosis. She did not rush me, took her time and the results surely shows. She is incredibly empathetic to your needs and concerns. My overall experience has been positive. The wait wasn't bad and best part, Dr. Yee helps saves your wallet a little by giving you some samples before committing to certain washes/lotions. read more

I had good experience with DR. Yee. She is very professional, but I have a problem with the front desk. On 9/14/17, we went in for a third visit follow up. I brought up an issue that according to the claim filed by my insurance company, we pay $30 copay.I also showed her the paper from the insurance. so we paid $30 for 9/14 visit. but I paid $40 for the past two visits. for the $20 over payment was told that they will look over their statements and if everything is fine will mail me a check. I never see the check coming, so today 10/12/17 I called was told that they don't have a note for that and will leave a note for the doctor to get back to me. I have my fingers crossed. read more

I am a former patient of Dr. Vivian Yee. She is a competent, friendly, and professional doctor - I would rate her five stars for her services alone. However, the receptionists in this office were by far the most unprofessional and tactless women I have ever encountered. After reading several complaints about them on this site, I was compelled to tell my experience: I was a regular patient in this office for about two years. I made an appointment for a Monday evening about two weeks in advance. When I finally arrived at my appointment, I was stunned to see that their office door was closed. I did not receive an appointment reminder (not unusual for this office) but I was certain about the date and time of my appointment. I knocked on the door and one of the receptionists (the younger baby-faced one) opened the door, telling me that the office was closed and attempted to shut the door on me. I told her that this must be a mistake because I had an appointment that time. She let out an exasperated sigh (shouldn't I be the one who was frustrated?) and informed me that the office hours had changed and left me at the door, confused. She proceeded to the reception desk and I told her that I was NOT informed about this change and asked her to confirm my appointment. She reluctantly did a search on her computer, and confirmed that I did in fact have an appointment but that a call was made to cancel it. Now, I could have forgiven the one-time mistake but I was appalled at her reaction towards this matter. When I told her that I never received the call, she sucked her teeth at me, slammed the pencil in her hand on the desk, and said in a very loud voice that my appointment was cancelled. Not only did she not offer to reschedule my appointment or acknowledge the mistake, she didn't even bother to apologize for the inconvenience this caused me. She proceeded to close up the office while chatting with the other staff in Mandarin, completely ignoring my existence. I was mortified at her behavior and told her how unbelievably rude and unprofessional she was, not that she cared, and left. That was the last time I was in the office. Mind you, this was one or two years ago and I'm not sure if the same receptionists are still working there. I am currently a happy patient in another dermatology office and have not regretted leaving Dr. Vivian Yee because of her ill-mannered staff. read more

So to be fair let me say that I know Dr. Yee and she knows my condition so I'm probably very biased. However, having said that, I have to also say that this was probably one of the best medical visits that I've ever gone to. She was very professional yet sensitive to patient needs. I have been a patient of Dr. Huang for many years. Both Dr. Huang and Dr. Yee are wonderful dermatologist. They truly know how to treat and diagnose dermatological problems. Dr. Yee found a basal cell on my sister during a routine scan. While they do cosmetic procedures as well they don't just try to sell you products that you don't need. While the wait can be long that is because both of the doctors' take the time to discuss your problems so that you clearly understand procedures that need to be done. They do no rush you and thus, they sometimes get backed up. Yes, while the wait staff is efficient, they could probably smile once in a while as a smile goes a long way. This was my first time coming here. It was very quick, painless, and enjoyable process. I made an appointment for 10:20 AM, but I was running a little late so I called and told them I would be there by 11:00 AM. They said it would be fine. I arrived at 11:05 AM, filled out paperwork (first time) took a seat for maybe 3 minutes and proceeded into one of the unoccupied rooms. Dr. Yee came in about 2 minutes and she was very knowledgeable and professional. The session lasted for about 10 minutes and I was out with 2 prescriptions.
