I regret going to this place so much. Originally I wanted to see a dermatologist because I always have a pimple or two on my forehead, it would go away and then come back. The dermatologist i saw came in and out of the office within 5 mins of talking to me. And I was prescribe with medication (minocycline) and the cream (Clindamycin phosphate topical gel). Upon taking these two, it made me break out sooooooo muchhh!!! I spoke to my Co-workers and they told me to ask for Retin A, which during the next visit I did. I ended up buying Avene Retrin AL from them for like 80? and end up buying their own cleanser product. Boy, am i a little dummy -o-. I gave this dermatologist 3+ months a chance and there was no improvement. Left me with red spots as scaring, still with pimples here and there. FYI, They do not do appointment. Stay away from the office! Even when you ask for the doctor they send you the NP, who is truly incompetent. She did not exam my face or hair and just prescribed me a bunch of medication and tried to sell me on their products. I had to suggest getting a blood test, she stated "oh yea I can give you a referral" The worst experience ever! When I finally did get my test result, they made me sit in the room for almost an hour, I just had to walk out and seek a second opinion. I am so glad I found a better doctor. read more

I'm only available on Saturdays due to work and made an appointment for this office at 1:30pm on a Saturday. I arrived on time to a packed waiting room and didn't see the doctor until 3pm. I'm not sure if Dr. Wei is ever in this office, but on Saturdays the place is run by Talley, a young MD who's been practicing for only slightly over a year, her medical assistant and 2 money-hungry receptionists. I came in to look at a rash on my right hand, and Talley prescribed some bactroban cream to put on it. I used it for 5 days and my hand started breaking out in hives and itching like crazy. I immediately went back the next Saturday first thing in the morning and saw Talley. The receptionist had the nerve to stop me from seeing the doctor before paying my $20 co-pay. I showed her what happened to my hands and she didn't dare touch me. After a 3 minute session with the doctor, she gave me some Topicort cream samples and told me to stop using the Bactroban (to state the obvious). The topicort didn't work and for the 2 weeks my hand was affected, I had to hide my hands from clients who wanted to shake them. It was extremely embarrassing for me. So instead I went to another dermatologist before work mid-week who gave me clobetasol for all the hives, and I recovered in a few days. I went back to Talley (Dr Wei's office) for a third consecutive visit the following Saturday because she wanted to schedule a follow-up, but my hand was recovering nicely per my other dermatologist's recommendation. She tried to shirk the blame from herself and asked if I came into contact with poison ivy and that bactroban shouldn't have done this. No. I live in a city, I don't have a chance to touch anything green. I don't even know why I listened to the receptionists who scheduled the follow up for me and came back to her office a third time. I got nothing out of it except for Talley trying to prevent me from filing a malpractice on the office and I paid my $20 co-pay for that. What a waste of my time and money. read more

This is probably one of the worst Chinatown doctor offices I have visited. I went with my grandmother to Dr. Wei's office. The female PA/Dr that saw us had horrible bedside manners. No hello or greetings. Just said your grandmother had this 9 years ago and we need to do a biopsy. I should mention that my grandmother is 89. I can't do anything without a biopsy. Did not show the least that she cared or not. Didn't want to take the time to explain anything to us even after I specifically asked what are treatment options and all she could say is it depends on the biopsy. I believe that she could have explained all the possibilities if she is an expert. We were barely in there for 5 minutes and she was like do you want to do the biopsy or not? My grandmother decided that she did not want to. You can see the she got more agitated and irritated. All she said was we need to a get a signature for Against Medical Attention. It was the absolute worst experience that I have seen. I think there are better doctor offices out there. read more

Wish I can give no star. I don't recommend anyone to waste their time or insurance money or own money to visit this place. The younger Chinese dermatologist their is really rude, doesn't like to take an understanding to a patient's needs and just in general has a huge attitude . I have a small micro fibrosis on my leg that they previously shaved some off for a biopsy, it never scarred, it actually looked better than what I first had. I went back to shave off the rest of the lump which still had a ring of darkness from the edges and she REFUSED to bother to do that. I've had a dermatologist in the past who said they couldn't shave it due to it coming back to scar, but when I healed it NEVER scarred, it actually came out pinkish whitish, which is way better than a brown ring. So she caught an attitude and threw a textbook answer at me as if I'm an idiot! I'm in medical school right now to be a physician assistant. Guess she thought I was this low class fool that doesn't have a brain because she's a dermatologist and I'm coming to her as a patient. I will GUARANTEE you I will find a REAL dermatologist to shave that brown ugly ring off and it will scar only pinkish white, NOT the brown she thinks it will. I have never scarred brown. I will send her my before and after pics when I do so, reminding her to step her game up! Remember, there's always a way to fix something you do not like on yourselves, its just finding a doctor with the right amount of brain capacity to do so. I will NEVER EVER come back. Came here for the convenience because there's no appointment needed and the dermatologist I usually go to is on vacation. So i came in on a Tuesday evening for a cortisone injection but I was told I have to put down a deposit of $100 for the office because of my high deductible. After seeing the doctor and getting my cortisone injection I was told they CANT bill my insurance because the injection wouldn't be covered by my insurance so therefore I have to pay an extra $75. At that moment I was like what the heck ?? They didn't even bother calling my insurance to see if the procedure was covered or not. This is NOT the first time I been to a dermatologist office for the same procedure for a cortisone injection. I have never heard of anything like this! ever! This office is out here scamming people's money by making you pay in cash to avoid tax and insurance!! This will be my first and last time coming to this office. He also run a beauty clinic which gives IPL and other laser treatment for anti-aging purpose. the patient pay a lump sum and will become club member and receive discount service after one year. The questionable business practice is that he charged you an amount, and then later said it should be 1000 more. For the discounted service, he said will be $100/ treatment and after you paid the money, he raised to $150/treatment at the front desk without letting you know. waiting for long hour for his office hour is also another bad experience. read more

i have been to both the elmhurst and chinatown offices and everytime that i am there, so is this male asian assistant that is extremely rude and dismissive. everytime that i had the displeasure of having him GLANCE, not look, at my skin issues, he would automatically narrow it down to one thing and check off a gazillion webmd symptoms on the computer. any questions asked would be dismissed and i was told that "he went to school for this." he would cut me off midsentence and then tell me to wait for the doctor. unfortunately, the doctors there are just as bad as this snotty assistant and takes one look at whatever skin problem that you have, prescribe you some pills at a local pharmacy that you apparently can't get anywhere else, some cream, give you directions in a very condescending tone, and send you on your jolly way home. i will be looking for another dermotologist that uses my insurance and i do not recommend anyone to go to dr.huachen wei's offices. read more

Although it can be quite a bit that you'll need to wait, the staff was very friendly, and I was seen by the NP-C whom helped significantly with my issue. I've had really awful experiences with Dr Wei and will never be going back. He runs practices in Elmhurst and Chinatown, both of which are really crowded. He's in and out in a matter of minutes, which would be fine if he were actually looking at the problem and providing good care. Unfortunately, he doesn't. He's scarred my body in 2 places. When I was young, I had a routine liquid nitrogen treatment for some kind of a wart/virus on a finger, and he burned that area so badly that there's now a deep purple/grey scar which hurts. Not knowing any better, I went back again a few years ago to have a suspicious mole looked at. He sliced it off carelessly and left me with a deep and ugly scar that other dermatologists have told me could have been avoided. My last visit ever was in Chinatown, where he ignored me and brushed aside my questions, instead focusing all his energy on showcasing my leg rash to his two assistants. If I wanted to be put on display, I would've gone to a teaching hospital, NOT a private clinic. My sister professes her undying loyalty to him, which is what got me to keep giving him second chances. But 2 scars later, I think it's time to move on... read more

I had the most worst experience ever seeing Wei. Mind you I call him Wei because he doesn't deserve that title of an MD. He's license should be revoked. Out of the 6 months I've been going to his office I've only seen him three times. The staff always makes a appointment for me to see his Physicians Assistant giving excuses such as on Tuesdays I will have to wait a really long time since there's a lot of patients seen by him. I have a skin condition where a biopsy needed to be performed but I never received any consultation neither did I know that it would scar me in both places on my back permanently. I would not recommend Wei to anyone. He never takes his time nor care for his patients. All he cares is about seeing as much patients he can so he can bank in his money. Money Hungry Business. This is the worst place to go to for any check up. People who cant pay for deductibles and copays even with valid financial situations cant even be seen. There are far better doctor offices to go to. And wouldn't refuse to see you if you cant pay for your co-pay, even with the most strictest policies. I'm not sure about other locations, but the office in Manhattan is beyond horrible. The doctors are not knowledgeable, and the receptionists are so rude and they have absolutely no customer service experience. This place is all about making money. They don't really care about your well being. I went there to get an injection on my nose, and it made my nose worst. I called back a day later and they said I have to pay another co-pay to see a doctor, but I have to wait for a month. I asked to speak to the doctor, the receptionist said the doctor is busy and it is the receptionist responsibility to answer all the questions. Really????!!!!???? A receptionist can answered medical questions?!??!! It was my second visit and my last. Oh yes if your co-pay is $50, they will charged you $100. When they get paid by the insurance company, they'll refund you the $50. That is if you remember to go back to get your money, because they won't call you. I have visited other dermatologist and never experienced that. I'm surprised they're still in business. I went to this place, because the place I used to go had no appointments available and my nose needed a injection before it got worst. I would never recommend anyone to this place. BE EXTRA CAREFUL!!!! First, the Registered Physician Assistant (RPA) call themselves doctors!!!! When i had skin problem i went to them and request to see a DOCTOR, and all this time i saw 2 RPA instead, because all the staffs would call them doctor so or so. These so call doctors all thought i had fungal infection so they prescribe me with the wrong medication and creams. Until i realized they're only the RPA, i decided to go to another dermatologist to find out i had some skin bacteria infection. They could have killed me if my condition was wrong, and not to say all the staffs are rude and disrespectful. Second, i was a cash patient so i skipped all the insurance patients even if im late. Since im a cash patient i wasted hundredSSS of dollars on office visit and the stuff they prescribed me. I waited 4 hours to be seen even with an appointment. I don't understand why they bother scheduling appointments. I saw the doctor for less than 5 minutes where he hastily prescribed some medication for the rashes on my skin after a mere glance. I also had a mole where the doctor suggested getting a biopsy done for it. The other person in a white lab coat (no idea who she was, doctor or MD student? She just randomly walked in) started prepping the anesthesia even before waiting for my answer. Thankfully, the long wait to see the doctor gave me plenty of time to read the doctor's ratings on yelp. I did not do the biopsy after reading that he hastily removes moles. I went to a different dermatologist directly after this visit. I was told the moles looked fine and to just keep an eye on them. This second doctor also told me about the scarring that would be left if she were to do a biopsy procedure and carefully explained the procedure to me, which Dr. Wei did not do at all. Dr. Wei did not even mention there would be a scar, and when asked, he merely scoffed and said "it's on the back" as if a scar in the back was unworthy of telling the patient. I would not recommend going to this doctor. He is not very attentive and rushes through his patients. He also does not explain things and clearly just wants to through as many patients as possible for financial gains. read more
