Im leaving an honest review about my experience at Advanced Dermatology. I love coming here the staff is super friendly and always greets me. I have SLE Lupus and it has inflammed and left big dark marks all over my face. That left me depressed and not confident in my skin people used to make fun of my skin alot. I started seeing Dr Sharon Hochhauser probably a year and a half now and she has left me with better brighter skin and more confidence than i have felt. We tried chemical peels and when the insurance didnt wanna cover it she tried more affordable options which helped to improve and clear my skin. This was after I was directed there by another AD office, which did not transfer my records or do anything to ensure proper continuity for my care. This is one office of a chain that grew too big for its britches. They invite you to leave feedback on other websites that most people are not signed up for, yet the link they give you is supposed to go directly to their page within those sites. I've been a patient here for many, many years but I only go every few years. I went 4 days ago, and was disappointed because the facility is looking old. There hasn't been an update to the decor. Unfortunately, I had to wait for over an hour while other patients came and left but I had to continue to wait with no communication of why there was a delay. I was scheduled to be seen by the nurse practitioner (not a problem) He was kind and professional but it took 4 days for me to receive my prescriptions and it was not only missing one item the instructions on one prescription was incorrect (wrong body part.) I was genuinely looking forward to returning to this dermatologist because of a great experience years ago, and they're very conveniently located near my home. Unfortunately, this time the receptionist, Brittany, was extremely rude and dismissive. Despite me explaining upfront that I could get a referral quickly, she kept repeating their policy and seemed annoyed to even have to explain it. By the end of the call, she acted like she was happy I wasn't going to be a patient. Honestly, I'm glad I found out now and avoided a potential disaster of an experience. Never have I waited this long to get my prescription after a doctors visit. Getting in touch with someone in the offices is near impossible. I have a infant with a rash broken out and they could not get me the medication needed. Called multiple times back and fourth playing telephone tag between pharmacy and their office trying to get this medication. This is the lack of care.. almost a week already still no answer. I met with Dr. Friedler and after waiting hours for the appointment, I asked her about cosmetic procedures. I then told her I don't want anything that looks out of proportion since many procedures do not come out well. She gave a quick look and said: "You look gorgeous, I will make it look natural- we can do some "baby botox, juvederm, and some voluma to even out the lip." At this point she was digging herself into a deeper mess! She then went on to show me pictures on her personal cell phone of random people who did not even appear like patients that she claimed "got different treatments". None of whom looked much younger or better and were ALL older women not even close to my age. She thought was doing legitimate business, her main interest, not the actual work, as if that were the case she would have taken the time to do an assessment and rationalize why she was even suggesting those specific procedures as most medical professionals do. She also claimed to have about 10 fillers in her face, which was unnecessary to share and certainly caused me to think twice about working with her- as her appearance was definitely not a selling point! While typing at the computer the entire time, she scribbled the names of the fillers and prices on a piece of printer paper (they were barely legible) and said "I'll give you the end of the year discount" so instead of this price I'll take off this amount" and really made sure to sell it thinking her job was done. Little did she realize, she lost a potential client and an exorbitant amount of money. There was NOTHING professional about her behavior as a physician or the way this was handled. She clearly has very limited experience with cosmetic dermatology and it shows given her reviews and lack of credible clients. The manager Emily was nowhere to be found. I was never given a receipt or a description of the services, so it was completely illegitimate. I called her directly to cancel and she gave me a revised copy that was not even accurate! I made sure to emphasize that I choose not to return despite her offer to give a discount and another doctor. I received the full refund amount within days thankfully and found providers who are knowledgeable, professional, understand what I need, and are trustworthy. read more

Been here before its extremely slow , they hire new people all the time. The office sends threatening messages about 50 dollar charge if you're late but wont acknowledge your in the office. This is my second time here and guess what they didn't follow up what was told to me on the first visit. I was told hey we dont take your insurance and you gotta see the doctor before you do your laser treatment ok fine saw the doctor he said / staff assured id be able to use the money i paid outta pocket for the office visit which was 4 mins tops. My parents have been going here for a few years now, but after the last distasteful experience, I will take them someplace else. My mom was sent a bill for a service she did not get. I've contacted billing and they told me that because it is an office product, there is nothing they can do on their end and that I have to contact the office and talk to the manager, Rashminda. I've called everyday the past week and the front desk gave the same answers "oh she's not in today" or let me transfer you- and it would be to the call center. They are fraudulent and it takes forever for the supervisor or the manager to contact you back for any issues. I will have to go in person now and waste my time trying to handle this instead of it being solved over the phone. I've recommended friends to go here, but there are plenty of other dermatology offices out there that ARE responsive and value your time. read more

Update: as of tonight they have canceled my appointment for tomorrow saying the dermatologist "has an emergency". Which means my blood work is to be done again? My window is tomorrow. This is unacceptable. I have filed a complaint with a board and will possibly be looking into some legal compensation for this negligence. Did I mention my husband is a lawyer Not only is this office staff incompetent and lazy--Half of the staff here doesn't speak English and don't know what they're doing. The reason it's being forwarded to you is because you're the MEDICAL ASSISTANT. I definitely do not recommend Veronica and Danielle. I've had to get my blood drawn 4 times now. Once every week because Danielle did not forward my blood results in time for ipledge and it missed the deadline. Now it's been an extra two times I've gone because they cannot get into their ipledge accounts... I've explained that all they need to do is call ipledge and they will grant access to the pharmacy as I've had other friends dealing with the same issue who were able to get their medication that way while the system was down. It's also extremely hard to get in contact with anybody at this office. The first two times of me getting my blood drawn I had an appointment the day after so the results weren't in yet and the dermatologist told me to call the medical assistant to let them know once it was in so they could start the ipledge log in. I literally called every single day to let them know I needed to either 1) speak to dermatologist 2) speak to medical assistant to let them know my window was almost up. To no avail, dozens of voicemails left-- and still windows were missed. I now am going to get my blood drawn for the fifth time, fifth week.... Like are you guys serious? The office was very overcrowded when I arrived, so much so that I opted to wait outside until they were ready for me. The two front desk ladies looked very stressed, but were extremely pleasant. The young lady who took me to the back was extremely rude. When we walked into the room the covering from the previous patient was still there. She pulled it down and told me to sit. I asked if we could sani wipe the area since a lot of patients were there and well covid and germs exist. Someone could have been there with an open wound for all I know or a rash. She did not say a word, she looked at me extremely upset and walked out. When she came back I apologized for being an inconvenience and she did not say a thing except "What do i need to clean" again with a nasty face. I even offered to clean it myself if she handed me some gloves, but again she did not reply. My appointment was with Dr Friedler. She seemed pleasant, but more than anything she seemed very interested in bills and insurance. Before coming to my room she kept asking about a patients insurance instead of what was wrong with them. When she came to my room, again she was very pleasant, but she never inspected my skin at all but suggested I buy a lotion they sold and kept asking for the my super bill. The young lady who originally brought me in when asked for the bill and just gave me this look like "you must have it" and left. Very weird moment. As the manager of two ambulatory surgery centers & a nurse, I think the clinical staff would benefit from some customer service skills/etiquette education and the location in itself would benefit from less crowding. I got the sense that they are there just to get as many people in as possible and get them out as quick as possible no actual treating patients involved, more like a revolving door to charge as many claims as possible for the day to insurances. My 80 year old friend and my self had a biopsy of the skin at this Advanced Dermatology office in Fresh Meadow that both came back positive for skin cancer. Someone called after two weeks to inform us. But no one ever called back to make an actual appointment for extraction/Mohs surgery. A couple of times someone called me but we played phone tag. Left many messages, could not speak to anyone many times they would hang up, whether by mistake or purposely. The only fortunate time I spoke to someone and explained the issue, they seemed concerned and suggested that a manager would contact me because (she said) "it was unprofessional to leave a patient waiting for so long (3 weeks had passed ) with a positive biopsy and no treatment plan." NO MANAGER EVER CALLED! The following day I requested my pathology report to be faxed to another dermatologist. They did but they sent it to the wrong number. So when my second counsultation day came the report was not there. The new dermatologist would not see me without the patology report so the staff and I made several attempt to contact Advanced Dermatology only to speak to some central number operator who could not assist me because the "medical team at the actual office was not picking up the calls. I have to stop because I'm getting agitated. Finally the report was faxed but not until after 30 minutes. So unless you are looking to have a terrible experience, skip this place. read more

I only gave it one star because I couldn't give Zero. The office is unkempt, cluttered and the walls of the room had old water stains and mold....mold. Not what I would expected for a dermatology office or any doctors office for that matter. Such a large medical staff, perhaps reinvesting and renovating the office should come to mind for them. The wait times was extremely long with no courtesy of an update or even a glance at you. Last but not least the doctor who would not even acknowledge or care less about you after making you wait close to 1 hr and 45 mins...great bedside manners! I saw Dr. S.Friedler for the 2nd time on Oct 2, 2023, after seeing her initially in March. I didn't like her even for the 1st time, since I thought her diagnosis about a few small pimps being acne was not correct. She prescribed me Clindomycin for 2 weeks, which didn't work, and she admitted it herself on the 2nd visit. On the 1st time she said that she can remove those pimps (medically called "papules" ) by burning with laser, which costs $200, "since is is called cosmetics". In the 2nd visit she left me wait for 45 min in a refrigerator(!) room and didn't apologize to me even formally for the huge delay. I came to see her for the 2nd time mostly, b/c I had noticed a big mole in the back part of the right knee, and I wanted to remove it and examine further with a biopsy. Thankfully, Dr. How, her assistant removed it, after she didn't regard to see it herself. Dr. Friedler came after that mini-surgery to repeat her "advice" about burning my pimps on the forehead. I don't write much reviews, but the experience here have been so horrendous, it needs one. My explanation is long, so if you do not wish to read it, I understand. All-in-all, the doctors here do not care for their patients (as you can see from the other reviews), and the customer service department here is one of the worst I've ever dealt with. The doctor I had was Christopher Byrne. He is a good guy, but all of our meetings have been rushed, where he gives no explanation to the diagnosis he has given me, and no explanation to the pills and shampoo he has prescribed me. All of our meetings have been less than 5 minutes, and not to say that is always a bad thing, but as a doctor, he should be taking his time at least to explain how I should go about preventing the "disease" I have, and how long I should be taking the pills and shampoo for, what they do, etc. The meeting basically went, me asking him if I am possibly going bald, and him just saying (and I'm paraphrasing), "Oh it looks like you have this. I will prescribe you this pill and shampoo. This is how you should get them. Instructions will be there on the pill capsule and shampoo bottle. Have a good day." On top of this, he is doing this by the door, trying to leave (something I noticed after). You can see by the other negative reviews left here that a lot of patients deal with this from whomever doctor they have. The issue is they are trying to squeeze in as many patients in a day to get as much money. This is also why people have to deal with such long wait times here. I get it, they're a business, but at the same time, their jobs should be done timely and correctly. Clearly, all this place cares about is the $ and not doing their job precisely. That isn't all. So as I mentioned before, my meeting was less than 5 minutes, but when I got the bill, it was (BEFORE my deductible), they decided to charge me over $300 for this meeting. On top of that, the statement said this meeting was 21-30 minutes. This just shows what kind of business they're running. To be fully transparent, my bill was $155 after my deductible; to be also fair, $75 of it is for my alopecia shots, which is correct, but that meant I had to pay a $80 deductible for a less than 5 minute meeting. And I'm not done. So their billing department claims I never paid for any of my visits. I have paid them on time, and have receipts to prove it. So I am directed by the office to call their customer service billing department to resolve this. So I do as they say (even though they should be the ones doing this; I've paid and done my job, why am I doing this now?) and TRY to reach their department. After about ~25 calls that span over 3 days, I FINALLY reach someone, only to get redirected numerous times, and calls get dropped CONSTANTLY. I have to recall them over and over again to try to reach someone to help me, what kind of customer service department is that?? Finally I get someone to hear me out and I send my confirmation receipts. They say they will reach back to me in a week. Two weeks passed, and instead, I get a bill asking me to pay my balance. I am so fed up at this point, so I call again, and the person tells me they can't help me because "it is not their case". I ask for a manager, where they tell me they will redirect me, and when they redirect me, they just hang up! I am still trying to get resolved (along with other issues), and it has been 3 months, with no progress! I have spoken to numerous phone reps, gone to speak with the dermatologist manager a couple of times, and nothing is being done correctly or efficiently. All in all, I DO NOT recommend anyone go here. This place is a combination of uncaring doctors and terrible customer service department, where they bill you incorrectly or overcharge you and you are left to fix their mistakes. I learned that going to a small/family practice is the best route for these things, not corporation level places. read more

I've been coming to this location for years . I've even referred my mother in law and brought my son here as well . However my last visit with my son and my issues with the answering service when trying to make appointments has certainly changed my opinion of them . When I went with my son he had some minor skin issues on him arms and chest . However she was concentrating on a scar on his head . She brought attention to a scar that he has come to terms with . I don't bring attention to it either because I don't want him to have a complex . She was trying hard to get me to see their plastic surgeon. It was uncalled for and very unprofessional to do in front of my 12 year old son . She should have asked him to step out while we spoke . Getting to my issue I've called 3 times in a month or so . First time I left a message and waited several days and never got a reply . The second and third time the only appointments available were 2 to 3 weeks away . I wonder if I should know in advance that I will have a skin issue that needs attention. I have found another dermatologist and she is very nice and the appointment scheduling is more reasonable and accommodating. If I could give it a negative star I would. On 8-19-18 I took my teenage son to the office. We weren't seen by a doctor but by a PA -Chen . My son had sores all over his face, arms and chest. We had just spent a week in the Caymans and I was concerned. This PA blew into the exam room barely looked at him and started yelling at him that he was scratching. She didn't want to hear what he had to say or me as the mom. She diagnosed him from the door way and in and out in less then 3 minutes. She is way too young to be a burnt out PA not even a doctor. The office was tripled booked for each of the 2 people seeing patients. It appears it's about money not patient care as they spent more time with me to process my copay. Today I tried to call their Fresh Meadows Office NY and was left on hold for 45 minutes by the call center, after calling back again another 15 minutes and no one answers the the phone. The same thing happened one week ago. I was on the phone one hour and 45 minutes. Very sad. The doctors are great but try to reach any Advanced Dermatology in the NY area office you have a better chance of reaching the White House. Good Luck read more

The doctors are fine but they are highly disorganized. I saw a dermatologist that said I had a granuloma. She was supposed to schedule me for surgery. Instead the scheduled me for an appointment with another dermatologist 2 months later that told me the same thing that the first one did. Had have scheduled my procedure a month from now. The granuloma is pushing on as nerve keeping me in constant pain, while they are shuffling me from doctor to doctor and charging my insurance hundreds of dollars to do so. Another star off for dropping a skin sample removed from my skin on the floor before it could be placed in the vial. Eventually the nurse found it. My daughter saw the dermatologist in January 2020. They sent her priscribtion to the pharmacy, however my insurance does not cover the medication I have been calling this place the very next day the pharmacist informed me of the situation..just to resend an order with the generic medication...ADVANCE DERMATOLOGY ON 188 IN FRESH MEADOWS have been taking messages and no one have made an attemp to resend the prescription...the pharmacy called the office and still no answer. They got paid by my insurance but has refused ...up to this very blessed day to make a change to my daughters medication. I called on Monday 10th March 2020. The young Lady tried transferring me and no one picks up the phone. All I need is to get my daughter the medication for her face as promised from the dermatologist!!! read more

Probably the worst practice in the history of modern medicine. Dr Fox has the bedside manner of a 2 year old and doesn't let you speak or ask questions. He speaks in riddles and is condescending. After you finish with his shtick you have to deal with the front desk.... yikes... I tried to have a prescription refilled twice and ended up having to physically go down there and extract the script, because they were too inept to handle any business over the phone. This is one of the worst places to go for cosmetic dermatology. I am in the medical field for over 20 years and I can say with confidence, Dr S.Freidler is a salesperson not a doctor. Obviously works on commission and gives incorrect information. The office staff is obviously inexperienced and over worked. I asked to pay my bill in full at time of service, which I was told was and given receipt . I then received a bill later on stating they made a mistake. Trying to contact office manager is a nightmare. I wouldn't recommend this office to my worse enemy. Yes, I am upset and discussed by their service. I'm starting to hate this place so much. I came here the first time to have a cyst drained. Waited about an hour the first time before having Dr. DiSpaltro drain it, but he didn't put any antibiotics for it so of course it gets infected again soon after. He told me to come in 2 weeks later so he can maybe remove the cyst all together. I make the appointment, and when I come back, the receptionist is quick to take my $30 copay, but dr. DiSpaltro sees me for less than 2 minutes to tell me that I need to have the cyst removed by a surgeon, and not by him. Wtf. Why did you take my $30 copay to do nothing? I ended up making another appointment for the surgeon, but that's not for another month! My spot was constantly getting infected so I ended up going to see another dermatologist at the practice, dr. Friedler. I told her the previous doctor didn't do anything and told me to just make an appointment with the surgeon, and she looked visibly confused and a bit frustrated that he didn't do anything for me. She was able to give me antibiotic, but the spot continued to get infected. So I waited more than a month to get this surgeon appointment and I get a voicemail from them that they canceled my appointment and I need to call to reschedule. WTF!!! I called and called and the phone line is either busy or when I'm patched to the receptionist it keeps ringing. This company is like a large network of garbage. read more

I recently had a keilode removed at this place. I went back because they left a stitch in me. The office insisted that I pay a co pay to remove the stitch that they didn't remove the first time. Then the office manager Veronica came down to talk to me about a balance from that same surgery, totally negating the fact that I have a non dissolvable stitch still in me from 2 months ago that hurts and could be infected. Fresh meadow office 3.5 hour wait. Biopsy done 29 days no result, No one answers the phone. can't get results. the Doctor Fox MD was excellent. Over 2 hours on hold still no results. Must find a new MD. 3 more calls on hold for at least an hour each time. If they do pick up they hang up. No longer a joke, hope my biopsy is negative. read more
