My first impression was when I made my initial appointment for a consultation. The lady on the other end of the phone sounded very nice and welcoming. It was very comforting. The practice is immaculate. Beautiful, clean, spacious and modern. It smelled nice and I really like the way they schedule their patients, not once did I feel awkward or just a number. The staff treated me very kindly, with respect and genuine smiles. Dr Kwan is a real professional in my opinion. He took the time to listen to my story, addressed my concerns and took his time to walk me through the process and give me his opinion and explanation on his recommendation. Yes I agree that he is not a chatty Doctor, he is to the point and professional. If I want someone to chat with, I'll go for coffee with my friends. I believe that his pricing is extremely fair and competitive, especially for the level of service I experienced. Not once did I feel pushed into committing to the surgery. I waited 4 months before contacting him to tell him that I was ready. I had my surgery in his practice and we went over everything again before I met up with the anesthesiologist, who was equally as nice and professional as everyone else at his practice. We started counting bikes ... and after bike #6 I fell a sleep. When I woke up, he was there to tell me I did great and before I knew it I was in a taxi cab back home with my best friend who came to pick me up. So I don't know if this is typical, but I had no pain whatsoever after the surgery ... yes I had discomfort, but after 2 days I was ready to go back to work and go about life. However, I took his advice to heart and took it easy. When I had to come back a couple of days later for a check up / get the drains out ... Dr Kwan told me that I wasn't ready for that yet and decided to leave them in. I had to work quickly, as the cap con was developing and worsening very fast. I went through a recent publication of the top breast augmentation surgeons in the country, and lined up virtual consultations with the best of the best in multiple cities. I also read every single review, and looked at every patient's "before and after" photo that I could find for all these surgeons and their work. Although I live in NYC, I was prepared to travel if I needed to go to California, Florida, Texas or wherever for the surgery. I just wanted the best results possible. After speaking with several surgeons, I discovered that many don't take on reconstruction surgeries. I was directed to Dr. Pfeifer from a couple nationally ranked surgeons in NYC, and I'm grateful for it. Studying all of their work, I learned a lot about different processes and how much time the various surgeons planned to spend on the delicate reconstruction. I learned that many surgeons rent surgical facilities to do their surgeries, and this requires they work fast in order to get multiple surgeries in a day to maximize their time and minimize expenses. Dr. Pfeifer offers a surgical location in the city, but also a beautiful surgical facility location in the Hamptons that she owns, where she can take all time she needs to work meticulously in order to achieve the most beautiful results. More than anything, I wanted to go with who I truly believed to be the most experienced and talented reconstructive surgeon. After all, this is my only body and I hope to live a long, beautiful and healthy life. So, I chose Dr. Pfeifer. It was the best decision. She ended up needing six hours to reconstruct my damaged breasts, carefully cutting out the scar tissue and bacteria, preserving my own healthy breast tissue, and then replacing the implants. She didn't rush, and her whole team was gentle and caring. The follow up and continued care has been exceptional. The staff (Maureen, Arleen and even Dr. P when needed) call regularly to check on me and answer questions. I feel very cared for during an uncertain and stressful time. Dr. Pfeifer even met me on a Saturday since I had to get my body drains out and it was the right timing for my healing. She works so hard and really cares about her patients. I'm still in the healing process right now, but the surgery experience and medical guidance before and after by Dr. Pfeifer and her caring staff has been everything I had hoped for, and then some. I haven't seen my incisions yet since they are still taped for healing (mine are located under my bust), but I'm hopeful they will heal well. My biggest and only regret is not having my breast reduction surgery sooner. I knew Dr. Pfeifer was my doctor the first day I met her. She is extremely knowledgeable and very personable. I was able to have my insurance cover it and all thanks to their help. The day of the surgery I was panicking, being that this was the first time I ever had surgery. I recently went to see Dr. Ariel Ostad for under-eye filler to address dark pigmentation and…read morehollowness. I was told that I would love the results, but within a week, the filler became extremely swollen. My under-eyes looked as though I had been stung by multiple bees, with severe swelling and an appearance that resembled boils. I returned to the office twice to have the issue addressed. Each time, I was left with two noticeably different-looking eyes. During my initial treatment, I was injected with 1 cc of filler under one eye and 2 cc under the other. From my own research afterward, I became concerned that 2 cc in one under-eye during a single treatment was excessive for my situation and may have contributed to the significant swelling and uneven result. When I returned to have some of the filler dissolved, I was told that the result would look identical to the other eye. Instead, all of the filler was dissolved from that eye, leaving me with one eye with filler and one eye without any filler. I then asked Dr. Ariel Ostad to correct the other eye so that my eyes would at least look even, even if that meant dissolving the remaining filler. Instead, I was told that I was costing the office money and that Dr. Ostad had already performed the dissolving procedures for me twice. I was then told that I would have to pay to have the remaining eye corrected. This has been extremely frustrating and upsetting. From the beginning, I trusted Dr. Ostad's professional judgment. I did not decide how much filler would be injected into each eye--the provider did. I came in seeking improvement in the appearance of my under-eyes and was left with an uneven and abnormal result that required multiple corrective visits which all ended in dissapointment. I paid approximately $4,000 for this treatment, and instead of achieving the result I was promised, I now have to consider finding another qualified professional to address the outcome and potentially incur additional expenses. What is most disappointing is being made to feel as though I am responsible for the time and cost associated with correcting a result that I did not create myself. I understand that cosmetic procedures can have complications and that results cannot always be guaranteed. However, I expected Dr. Ostad and his office to take responsibility for the treatment plan and work with me toward a reasonable resolution rather than making me feel like I was an inconvenience or a financial burden. I was given hope that this treatment would brighten and improve the appearance of my under-eyes. Instead, I left feeling that the appearance was worse than when I came in, after spending a significant amount of money. It is difficult to feel comfortable with a provider when, rather than acknowledging the outcome and helping correct it, the responsibility seems to be placed on the patient. I am now left having to seek another professional to address the problem and potentially spend even more money correcting a treatment I trusted Dr. Ostad's office to perform.
