Ordered 2 parts on a Sunday with Expedited shipping (7/6), which would mean a 2 day delivery (accounting for 1 day for processing). It is now 4 business days later and they only sent me half of the order, not even the correct one at that, and the more expensive item is still missing. I have talked with CS daily since Tuesday (7/8) and got nothing but the run around and blaming the shipper. Hard to blame the shipper when the item was never packaged to ship. Already got the part sooner from elsewhere and unable to cancel the order. Best they could offer was a $20 coupon for a $64 order. No point in using a coupon for a company that has lost trust in a long time customer of over 20 years. In store employees, though underpaid, actually give a rat's a** whereas anything on the online division needs retraining and potentially new employment. read more

The store says that it would install the battery free if we buy battery from them, but today when I drove my Acura to the store, the guy felt it was not so straightforward to replace the battery in my car and then declined to install the battery. Instead, he just wanted to sell me the battery and I need to install it by myself, but that is not the store description says! I normally don't like to give 5 stars to chains, but this place is a great neighborhood auto store. They have come out to read my engine codes for free, let me dump my used oil in the back, referred me to a great transmission repair shop, and generally managed to keep in stock what I need -- and are open late. The staff can sometimes get overwhelmed, particularly when taking phone calls, but they are pros just like the old days and not the auto part equivalent of Home Depot employees. read more

Make sure you compare prices with stores online, but these guys have a little of everything you need. Also, when there are sales, the prices are good. Depending on how soon you need your part, this can be an excellent option. My favorite service at the store is that there is diagnostic tool that you can hook up to your car, and it'll read any error codes/lights that you're getting on your dash. You can then look up the codes online and find out why exactly the "check engine" light is on. This is a useful start so you don't get a load of BS from the repair shop. They also install windshield wipers and car batteries as a complimentary service. I like this a lot and saw a young woman last night right before closing thanking the staff to no end about how they saved her life. Good stuff. read more

Took my battery there for an overnight charge. They didn't charge it and gave it back to me, saying it was charged. They said their machine has been stolen and they can't verify it's charge. Brought the battery home and install it to realize it wasn't charged. read more

The staff here are the sweetest and most helpful I've encountered in any parts store. And I've spent a lot of time in parts stores. The only thing is, this store doesn't have as much stock on shelf (and variety) as most do anywhere in the US. They have the basics. I just want to leave a compliment. We were in today buying some parts for our cars. There was an angry man at the cash register who drove a beat up Lexus (parked illegally and haphazardly in front of the store), and he was aggressively yelling about a coupon for his new car battery, interrupting the young man trying to help him and calling corporate on the phone with him "idiots". The Advance Auto Parts employees handled the situation with grace and a smile, still attempting to help him to the best of their ability as he cussed at them. Now I've been coming to this store since it was Trac Auto so I've seen a lot of faces there. But what I had not seen was service so beyond expected. I went and visited here in need a particular paint marker for my car. Well I really haven't had any problems as other AAPs but this one I was pissed off. I got a rude gentleman give me an attitude when I asked about the paint and the return policy for it. He got really annoyed and told me to not even try to return it...all I wanted to know was if it was he wrong paint would I have the chance to return it for a new one. He then went on and told me to not order it at all and gave me a look. By no means was I planning on not ordering this item I really need it. I opted to just go pick the exact same item off at a nearby AAP store near Mosaic. In terms of what they offer they don't offer as much as other AAPs in the area so I would recommend you check out the one nearby Mosaic. They have more in stock items as well as very friendly customer service! read more

Please beware of this McLean Advance Auto Parts store location. Just had a very distressing experience. My wife went to buy a fog lamp for her car at the McLean Advance Auto Parts. When she bought the bulb home, assuming that it was correct, I tried to install it, but the pins were incorrect. I then researched and found it was indeed the incorrect bulb. She went back to the store with the old bulb in hand and they told her that it was the correct bulb and that we were trying to install it low beam headlight by mistake. Sadly for their reputation, this 2008 Highlander does not have separate low and high beam bulbs and the idea that you could mistake the location of the headlight with that of the fog light is utterly ridiculous given that the headlights and fog lamps are in completely different locations, separated by two feet. I returned to the McLean store and they now insisted that my wife had given them wrong information so they gave her the wrong bulbs and that anyway since I had opened the package they were not returnable. I was also blamed for not having checked the bulb through the plastic of the packaging before trying to install it. Don't go back to these people, they're not reliable, knowledgeable nor honest. read more

I purchased a battery back in 2013 that came with a 3 year free replacement warranty. A few days ago, my car wouldn't start and my dealer indicated that the battery was faulty. I went in to AAP this morning and the store manager, Jeb, assisted me in testing the battery and processing/installing the free replacement (since I was still under warranty). Buy a product off the shelf, and this place is great. Special order a part and be wary. I had to go back 3 times because they gave me the wrong part. They offered no sympathy and took no responsibility. They said that it was my fault. After I returned the part the second time, they said that I needed to give them the VIN number. Two employees were also being very rude to another employee in front of customer saying they were going to lock him outside if he doesn't hurry up. A close in auto parts store in a tony suburban Washington DC neighborhood. Hard to believe. They have the basics that you need, keep an eye on the advertising to see what is on sale. If you don't see something you want, ask one of the helpful staff, they seem to know where things are hidden. I had a great experience here! I was recommended this location for the expertise and friendliness of its staff. The person recommending it had been coming here for several years. I'm a new car owner and have never bought anything for cars, and the guy servicing me at the store walked me through the basics of what I needed without trying to rip me off at all. I also pulled up with a busted bumper, and asked one of the guys in the store's opinion if it needed to be replaced immediately or could be patched up. Needed my car battery replaced and this was pretty close by. Went in and got my car battery replaced/installed within 30 minutes. The system had suggested the wrong battery and the service tech was able to see that upon beginning installation. He immediately went in and got the correct battery and completed installation. We completed the paperwork right away, I actually got a $5 credit. Appreciated the good and prompt service. I will go again should I ever need to and would recommend to others. read more
