Although I'm generally satisfied with ADTs equipment and system, I feel like they have dishonest business practices. I was promised 2 free months by the customer service agent which never happened. Several follow up requests only resulted in the agent denying that such a promise was ever made. My installer, who was great, was able to clearly see the original promise made. Trying to get help with service interruptions is terrible. I have been trying to get someone to tell me what to do with carbon monoxide alerts since June 4,2024. They made me 4 virtual phone appt and never did them . I am now awaiting an appt that was scheduled for 12-4 today. They have not shown up or given a courtesy call of them running behind. Said I would get cellular. I got wifi. One touchscreen never stays connected because of the installation. One screw is in a hollow place in my wall. I took the cover off to unplug it to reset it and finally got it put back on and it took about 30 min. to keep messing with it to get it to recognize that it was in place because of the horrible way it was installed. The screen saver never comes on this touchscreen and the light will not stay off. This has never worked because of the installation. One of my doors that I do not use often was jammed. Turned out the magnet was stuck between the door. Never saw the cover. This door has never worked. I just attached the magnet to the other side of the door part. Customer service is horrible. They tell you to do things over the phone that you have already tried. Then set up for someone to call you. Then want to sent someone to your house to charge you. Don't know how much to fix it. I paid way too much for this garbage and it does no good to call them. All they do is lie and rip you off. Now I received a letter that they are increasing my monthly cost. I'm having a problem with my ADT doorbell and its connection to my inside door chime, which doesn't work. Talked to an ADT tech weeks ago, they checked and said it wasn't on ADT's end and I should hire an electrician. I did, and spent $274 for them to check the system and determine that it is the ADT door bell. They even took the two wires behind the ADT door bell - when touched together the inside door chime chimed. I called ADT again and talked to a Tech. He was helpful, his system review still didn't show that ADT's equipment was a problem, then he tried to schedule a site visit from ADT but THAT WAS DENIED!! BULLSHIT!! I have no reason to continue service with ADT when they refuse to service their own equipment. read more

Horrible service pricing and contracts. Lived at my prior home 5 years and paid for all my equipment... was told to leave all my equipment there when I sold that house and they would transfer service when I moved. I moved and then they told me that I would have to buy all new equipment... like WTF... total scheme if I ever heard it. My wife was here when they did the install and did not inform her properly but they set us up for some crazy install fee, and 2800 in equipment that we already owned but they told to leave at our old home. Worst part is... it's two years later and didn't realize they were charging me 5 years more of fees... I wanted to cancel and they offered to reduce my bill but it would EXTEMD THE CONTRACT for 60 more months. I advised I wanted to cancel and they said since I had three years to go I would have to pay 75% of the contract. That's a total of 1602.53 The salesmen did not explain any of that to my wife and pulled that crap without explaining that to her well cause we have two special needs kids we have to tend to and he told her it just continuing service and didn't need anything but her signature. Wool over her eyes unfortunately. Get a damn simplisafe or Amazon non-service provided home system. Calculating the total of what they charged us "TO MOVE", is 6500 over 5 years with monthly service fee of $55 and an extra bill of 25 for the equipment... And that's AFTER we had already paid 5 years at our last house so sounds like over 10 years we have and will have paid them 12k. Really hate them right now but learn from my mistakes. read more

Warning. Do not trust this company. Examples: 1) I was told that I would be getting a system for free because of past issues on ADT's end (I had MULTIPLE false alarms with the first system I bought off them. They were never able to figure out who's alarm in America was going off, all while sending police to my house when my system was not armed.. Scary situation for me, but especially for the people who actually did need help!!!). When the installation tech arrived at my house. The tech said what I was told on the phone was incorrect, and against company policy for safety reasons. Which I can agree with after he explained everything to me. It went from free to over $1400. After going back and forth on the price. They did lower it to just over $700, but still far from free as I was told it would be. 2) ADT was trying to charge me for Video monitoring even though I did not have any camera monitoring devices. 3) Their installer stole the security system that I owned, and was using in my home during the installation of the new one. 4) Even though they have you sign a contract. They do not adhere to that contract. I have not had the system for a month yet. However, I have been charged (and paid because they have my credit card info) for two months service. I have also been charged, and paid for the entire system (over $700) even though the contract they filled out (that I signed and confirmed by ADT's customer service department has on file) says I am on a no cost payment plan for three months. After MULTIPLE calls and HOURS and HOURS on the phone with them. They have issued me about 3 months credit for my service. However ADT would not honor the contract they had me sign, and said there is nothing they will do about them charging me for the entire security system. 5) When I got my first billing statement from them. It has a detailed explanation of what the next charge would be. However what was charged to my credit card did not match the billing statement they sent. When I called to get a explanation of why they charged me more than the invoice. I was told what they charged was correct even though it contradicts the invoice they sent. I then asked if I would be receiving another one reflecting what they charged me. I was told no. I just need to believe what I'm being told, and this is how ADT does it. So based on my experience you can not believe anything ADT says, puts in writing even on their own contract, or even what ADT sends you in a billing statement. As they don't honor their own billing statement. I definitely have a lot more to share about my horrible experiences with ADT and their customer service department. However I just wanted to keep this review about irrefutable facts that can easy be proven and ADT can not disagree with. read more

(Update - sent an email to the customer care team and they gave me a phone number that does not work , they want to look like they care but they just sent me a disconnected number to call and ask for help , don't trust this company with your money ) The equipment installed is faulty , makes beeping noises and glitches , has to reboot all the time. We have been an ADT customer for 20+ years and their service is horrible. Today I spent 1+ hrs trying to get service to replace the door sensor in a replacement door. After dealing with 4 agents and be given the round around I was able to place the order for the new sensor @ $161 !! When I received the written confirmation of my order I found that they had sneaked in an additional $0.42 per months for this sensor. I was already paying the monitoring for the old one that I am replacing. We are already paying $90/month for their alarm/monitor service. The worst part is their service and the total incompetence of their agents. Let's see how is the technician when they arrive next week for the installation. We have an issue with an upstairs window sensor for several months now, which ultimately has never been fixed by ADT. This sensor, which happens to monitor our 4 yr old daughter's window, would alarm in the middle of the night causing my wife to go into a panic. This happened multiple times. Numerous time we called ADT and they would try troubleshooting the issue over the phone, each time we would later discover didn't work. Finally they agreed to send a tech out, who let me know that the sensor in fact never actually worked (for years) and is on an adjacent bedroom window- but also linked to our daughter's window, so both not working. His supervisor agreed they could reduce the cost from $50 to $40 to fix the issue... All of this after we have literally spent thousands of dollars on the ADT system and "service" and they'd like us to continue to. They try charging us every time they send out a tech to fix their system issues. I have to bypass this sensor/both windows each time I turn on our security without constant false alarms. Terrible experience since we contracted through a sales agent (Jeff, who was canvassing our neighborhood just after we moved into our home.). Cameras rarely work, with back door camera basically useless. Two technicians (Caleb was one) have come out to reinstall. The last technician "rigged" the camera to the only ceiling outlet as a fix, but now I cannot use it for other purposes. I have to use an extension cord to connect outdoor patio lights to a wall outlet. Ridiculous! Contacted Jeff a couple of times, who refers me to technical support. Sent an email to Rudy Campos ("authorized" ADT dealer who represents Admiral Automated Security, LLC) but never received a response. First of all, I hardly ever have run-in with service department of any kind. I'm not a complainer and becaue I have worked in customer ervice I know how thing can go wrong, But I was an ADT customer for more than a decade. The actual monitoring service was great and years back they offered good telephone assistance for sensor and battery problems. Now they are unable to schedule appointment within a reasonable amount of time. My system stopped working in early 2024. Between February and May 2024 I went through the telephone troublehooting, then a second specialized phone call, then paid $280 for an in-home repair. I tried to set the alarm hours after they left and it didn't work. I called back and went through the phone troubleshooting again. They would not give me credit/refund for the repair visit, and would not send the techs back out FOR ANOTHER MONTH (again no credit for a lost month of service). They suggested that I upgrade to a more expensive plan -- and on that case they woud send a tech out with 2 days. Complete bullshit - fix the system I've paid you for and don't try to upsell me. The retention call was painful -- no adjustment for the failed repair or lot service, but could send someone rightnout if I signed a 24-month plan. We put an ADT security system in our daughter's house believing it was one of the top rated security companies. The sales center is totally disconnected with the installer. What they quoted us on the phone ended up being almost double the cost of what we had to pay for the hardware that was installed. The installation workmanship was horrible. They placed both the sensor pickup and the magnetic target on the non-moving part of a door jam. So the alarm would not go off when the door was opened. The control panel that is used to arm and disarm the system should be placed near a door used to enter/exit the home. However, they insisted on installing it on the second floor of the home, in a bedroom. They cut a hole in the center of the largest wall in the bedroom and permanently mounted the control panel, like it was the "Mona Lisa"! The panel is not even level! It looks horrible, and you have to run up and down the stairs to arm/disarm. Not very logical when you are trying to enter the home with an arm full of groceries and kids! They mounted a camera and ran a cable down the side of a door jam and just stapled the cable down the door frame. It is impossible to have any meaningful communication with the company. Trying to call in to get some resolution, you enter the bottomless pit of their horrible phone system. It took an hour and a half in their phone system where we were transferred to 4 different people trying to get some resolution, to be told "We can send a technician out to move the panel, but you will have to pay for the service"! When we asked why do we have to pay for their mistakes, after 10 min. of debating the issue, they finally said they would cover the cost, but needed to transfer me again to a different person to schedule. They transferred us back to the beginning of their endless answering system to start guessing at what number we needed to pick to talk to someone. We ended up hanging up due to total frustration. This is the absolute opposite definition of customer service. I see that they only have a 1 rating on yelp. I now understand why. I doubt that they even care about how their customers feel about them! I hope this review helps people make good decisions and not fall into the same bottomless pit that we find ourselves. read more

I called to have the alarm turned off, and spoke to 3 different people/one manager, and no one could turn the alarm off. They told me someone would have to come service it, but no available appointments for 6 days! So I have to have this alarm going off continuously for 6 days straight before someone can service it?!?! When ADT first installed my system I was pretty impressed but since then I am not. I called about my system not functioning (door bell camera off line and not working, sliding glass door sensor not working, etc) and was told the soonest would be in two days from noon to 5pm. My first thought was ok but not happy that my security system would be out of order for two days more. Then the day rolls around and the technician is running late but will text me when he is on his way. I had to reschedule because I needed to pick up my daughter from school (basketball). Next appointment is a week away. Now I am thinking if you have that many problems and so few technicians one should probably hire more people and get better equipment! Not to mention how my monthly statement has increased for less service makes me realize the following: spend the rest of my contract time finding a better system to secure my house and family. read more

While out of town in another state, my alarm went off and I requested the ADT representative dispatch the police. The representative called back and said she could not get through and suggested I call 911. This is unacceptable. I was on the phone with over an hour trying to get ADT to dispatch the police to my home. If that wasn't bad enough, I called to cancel my service since I considered ADT breached their contract with me. They billed me over $800 the next day. I am in dispute with them now and will be taking them to court if I don't get my money back. This is a terrible company and I would never recommend them to anyone. read more

I'm very upset the company did not give me what I was supposed to have for security. I have apparently the wrong cameras and the original installer promised me they would capture everything. One of my neighbors was almost hurt or abducted and the system failed to record this instance. I highly recommend everyone find a different company with employees who are honest. read more

Buyer Beware! Bait & Switch experience! Called ADT to obtain information about changing from my current monitored system to an ADT system that could integrate my existing Google (Nest) products (cameras,doorbell, thermostat) with their alarm system. Salesperson Anthony was very helpful and answered my questions. I would told multiple times that my current IQ Panel would work with their systems only to learn from the installation tech that my panel would not work with their system and that I would need to purchase their panel and new window/door contacts!!! To the tune of over 2K. I called their customer service department and spoke with John who was for lack of a better word rude and extremely unprofessional. Even after speaking with a supervisor, I was left with a significant additional expense that would have factored into my decision. ADT refused to honor my contract. They were unwilling to make things fair and equitable. I cancelled my install and the service agreement. This was a complete waste of my time and I'm extremely disappointed that I wasted my valuable time this morning having to deal with this obvious bait and switch! ADT do better!! BUYER BEWARE! After negotiating an equipment upgrade, I was informed it required a 3-year contract at $49.99 plus tax per month. Early cancellation demands that the remaining balance for the 3 years be paid in full, PLUS a *75%* PENALTY. So, if you cancel after 1 year, you owe ADT $1200.00 for the remaining 2 years plus an additional 75%, which I assume is only on the remaining balance, but, considering their other questionable tactics, could be on the entire contract. If only on the balance, that's another $900.00 which totals $2100.00 you owe ADT if you cancel after 1 year. Additionally, the high-pressure tactic was presented when I said I wouldn't agree to the outrageous penalty. The representative then told me "the price is valid for 24 hours and then it disappears".
