We were totally ripped off by Vivint. First off they left door sensors at our old house, I asked if we needed them and was told we didn't. Then we were charged $300 to disconnect and connect then they say we needed a new doorbell for $389. When they installed at the new address, the first time the tech was totally half a**ed so they had to send another guy out. We had NO sensors, so we had to buy new sensors for $100 to replace the ones left at the house we were told we don't need. After the second guy came out to fix everything the first guy didn't do. Now, OUR DOORBELL ONLY RINGS OUTSIDE!!!!!!! WHAT GOOD IS A DOORBELL THAT DOESN'T RING INSIDE THE HOUSE. He showed me it worked but I was outside looking at it when he pushed the button. They've ripped me off for all I can afford already, I can't afford for them to come out a third time to fix it again. Our original bill was $67 per month, now were told it's $145 and it will go up. Terrible service, equipment doesn't work, not reliable, poor connectivity, no resolution if you have an issue with equipment or billing, features sold to me were not even real - like they don't exist with Vivint. I was told there was live monitoring like simplisafe offers - lies. I was told there was US based service - no, it's the Philippines. I was told their cameras had AI detection to alert specifically for people and then alert with special messaging and lights if a person was detected - no, not a real thing. I was told if I had any issues at all I could have a service tech out right away to fix it - no, they will have you on the phone for 4 hours doing all this handyman and tech stuff yourself the still not be able to fix the issue and then they can't get a live tech to you for a week or more. STAY AWAY! First off it's a bit pricey and you have to buy the equipment. Since the equipment is yours, when something goes wrong, which happens often, you have to do the troubleshooting with someone on the phone. They won't send someone out. You also have to give them 30 days notice to disconnect which you probably won't remember after having the system for years. You also can't disconnect if you owe for equipment until you pay off the equipment. To sum it up the equipment is klugey and customer service is lacking. Worst experience with any company I have ever had I will preface this by saying that I do not have any complaints about the system itself and I enjoy the convenience of it. However, I have never in my life had the type of issues I am having with the customer service and the way the business is ran with any other type of company AT ALL. Their sales tactics are based on lying, being deceitful, and prying upon genuine needs parents need for their children to mislead them into a service contract that is based on false promises. I was told by the sales rep that they would buy me out of my Brinks contract. I told them I did not know how much I owed and they said over and over again, "Do not worry about it, we will take care of it." However, that was a complete lie. They only give money towards it but had no intention of buying the whole contract out. Due to me not having an addition $800 dollars in my bank account to pay out of pocket to buy myself out of my Brinks contract, I called Vivints customer service and explained my concern and disappointment on the deceptive sales tactics. After being on the phone for hours and talking to 4 different departments they gave an additional amount but still wouldn't cover they entire buy out even though thats why I was told and guaranteed would happen. Due to me being a mom of 6 I do not exactly have hundreds of extra dollars that I could put towards buying myself out of my Brinks contract. So I decided to just pay both my Vivint security system and to continue paying my BRINKS every month. Because paying my monthly payment of $60 to BRINKS until the balance was low enough to use the VISA gift card from VIVINT to pay it off was the only option since I did not have the hundreds of dollars I could pull out at one time to do so. I discussed this plan with VIVINT customer service and they said that, "It was probably the best bet, because VIVINT would not give me any additional money to pay off my BRINKS account" even though that was what I was told would happen by the sales representative. Once I got the balance of Brinks low enough I went to go pay the amount off the VIVENT gift card that had the $1500 on it expired. I called the card company which stated that it expired and they refunded the money back to the issuer and I would need to call VIVINT. So I did. I talked to four different people, one which was a manager, who stated they could not do anything for me. That it was my fault for not paying attention to the expiration on the card. Even though I explained to them why I couldn't use the card to pay off BRINKS because it would of required me to pay out of pocket hundreds of dollars I did not have. She said, "That was something I should of figured out." "That she understood and sympathized that I was now out of $1500 dollars" she said it in the most condescending way as I was crying and nearly hyperventilating on the phone about how could their company corner people like they did to me. That how could they not do anything when they gave me $1500 dollars that they can see I DID NOT use because it got refunded back to them and just said, "Well you should have used the card when it was valid." They then transferred me to their loyalty department who said they could compensate me $10 a month for 5 months. (Which would give me 50 dollars back from the $1500 dollars that was taken back from me) or give me 20% of any additional equipment I wanted. I then stated that I would never buy additional anything from a company that takes advantage of people and is based on deceptive sales tactics and doesn't care at all about their clients and doing the right thing. We had our home security system upgraded in April. The technician who installed the system claimed our ceiling fan lights could be controlled remotely and said he ordered the lights. After two attempts to followup with the tech directly, I've made three phone calls to Support, Upgrades Dept and Customer Loyalty. The Customer Loyalty agreed to have another tech come to our house to reclaim the equipment that cannot be used to process a refund. The appointment was made for 6/17/24 weeks ago yet upon the day of the appointment the tech no-showed and cancelled the appointment. Upon receiving the cancellation, I contacted Support again only to be transferred to 3 different reps, all seemingly passing me off and not providing support. After being transferred for the fourth time, I've been waiting for them to review the documentation from my previous calls to figure where they made mistakes. Looking back, I wish we never upgraded our Vivint system and shopped around for something more reliable and responsive. Worst experience ever dealing with these people, i definitely do not recommend Vivint to anyone. Starting off with the salesman, he lied about it being a hard credit check he did not mention anything about a loan being pulled for the equipment, he did say it was a soft credit check like getting a cellphone thats all. Next is the tech, he was in my house right past midnight trying to install the equipment, mind you he could not get it connectedn nor did the app work. Third thing it was over the weekend (friday night), now we get to the good part (3day trial period) i hadn't received a email or anything about credit check, Monday morning(3rd day) i called to see when i could get a tech out to fix the system, they told me it would be about a month to get there so i agreed they wouldn't charge me for the month and they mentioned the 3 day grace period would restart. I received a email showing they did a hard credit check which was a week later i called back to cancel it they kept giving me the run around telling they had to talk to their loyalty department to get approval, skip to the end i called at day 31 of having the system (a day before a tech was scheduled), they still keep telling me i can't cancel cause im past my (3 day grace period) and they dont have it on record that they told me any of what i said. They said the only way to get out of my contract was to pay for the full price of the equipment. Changed my security system and home automation for a keyless entry a few months ago. Cost me $4000.00 to buy the equipment. However, changed over because they said my alarm would still work if my signal was jammed. Thought thus would be a much needed safety measure. Also, opted for keyless entry. I did not even think to ask what would happen if there keyless entry pad locked me out. I come back after a 15 minute walk with my dog and am locked out. Call vivint and after an hour on the phone troubleshooting and​ waiting to talk to a supervisor thus is the advice I got. We can't fix the problem after rebooting so I need to call a locksmith and pay out of pocket. I told them that this is not going to happen. We had to reschedule and that technician lied about him coming to our home and us not answering the door or being home. After being transferred several times and explaining our situation several times during the 2 hour call with Vivint Customer Service, I was told that a "moves" supervisor would call in 24 to 48 to reschedule my 3 appointment for the installation of my alarm. BEWARE. DO NOT USE VIVINT. Cody seemed nice enough when he showed up soliciting service at the door. Unfortunately I was recently trying to get ADT or another company to take over a wired system in the house but they were unable to handle a wired system. The installers that came we're very nice and from Utah apparently this company just keeps moving these people around from state to state. The salesman Cody's from Canada. It took multiple visits over several days to actually install the system and it's still not completely installed. A lot of problems with the system. I was told some non-truths by the salesman regarding ability to take over the wired system, wireless window contacts and motion sensors. Nothing went smoothly, within a few days the system completely failed stating that my three main entry points are running low on battery and eventually could not communicate. This does not make sense since they're hardwired. The garage door sensors just fell off to the garage floor on the third night because they were stuck on with just one piece of double stick Velcro tape that was smaller than the tip of your pinky. So I had to reinstall them. I called the company and they scheduled someone to come out after the weekend this was a Thursday. I have a brand new unit and absolutely no security protection for four days. I waited all day on Tuesday June 14 and nobody showed. I called the Support number and got somebody out of the country. I asked to be transferred to an upper level supervisor. The upper level supervisor was also very nice. Everybody seems very nice until it's time to actually do something to resolve an issue. She apologized profusely. She said that the technician apparently called in sick that day. Never notified the appointment is going to be canceled. She stated that it was completely unacceptable since she was made aware that I received several text and emails confirming the appointment. She said that she would give me a month of free service. I believe I shouldn't even be charged because they are in breach of contract. I do not have a working system. She also stated she was going to look to get the refund I was due since I only installed one of the two smoke detectors. There was literally zero communication back to me via email or any other confirmation of the phone communication with the supervisor or any potential refunds or credits. She made another appointment for a tech to come out and repair my installation. Also my smoke detector is inactive. She scheduled for 21 June so another week without service. I waited again on June 21, 2022 and no show. Again no phone call to tell me that they're not coming. It's funny I get several texts and emails asking me to confirm the appointment and I have responded to every one. I called in on the 21st around 4 PM and asked to be transferred to a senior level customer service rep and she told me that there's no reason that someone should've miss this appointment and apologized profusely. I nicely pointed out to her that I don't need all of these apologies it's more of a waste of my time and it does nothing. She told me that she can't get a senior tech out here until the 24th so now I'm waiting another three days to see if someone will show up. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau today. I will file a formal complaint. I will be posting this yelp review today. I will also be contacting a lawyer to see about getting out of this contract and getting a refund because of their breach of contract. I still have no yard signs and no window stickers which was also promised. I have had many security companies in the past as I've owned many homes over the last 40 years. I have had ADT and other private companies that have provided outstanding service. VIVINT is a terrible company and should not be in the security business I believe they are some type of snake oil salesman who come to your door sell you a bunch of products and then leave. I'd rate this at a zero if possible! My alarm has gone off multiple times at night and my system would not say what window was being broken into. So when we would receive a call from vivant we ( my mom and I ) would ask " where do we go? What direction should we go? What window is being broken into ? The alarm is not telling us!" They replied with " I don't know .. I can't help you " They then proceeded to say it's because the sensor is marked as not theirs.. which is odd because they are the only alarm company we have had ! And we paid for the whole system straight from them!" So how else can we have a system belonging to someone else when we paid to have their system installed! Is this happening to anyone else ? It's all fine and dandy as long as your service works. If something's wrong be prepared to fix it yourself. Alarms don't work, sensors go off in the middle of the night and the one time you need it to record something nothing gets recorded. It's our first home and first security system but we regret it so much. Wakes us up in the middle of the night around 3-4 am and all they can do is make you reboot the panel and try fixing it yourself. Oh let's not forget they can update your systems. First of all, I do not have their service. And after today, I will never even consider their service. When we first moved in to our house, a sales rep came by. We entertained the idea until I heard about how long they require you to sign a contract for. If we chose not to sign a contract, the cost of equipment and installation would have required me to take a 2nd mortgage on my house, it was that expensive. So we said no. But after what happened today, I will NEVER consider them. First, the sales rep ignored my no soliciting sign. They sent the same guy back and he replaced my thermostat w the old one, but it was too late. The surge blew my outside unit costing me $2k to replace. It seems like more times than not I am having issues with their system and cameras, they are constantly failing. When they do fail, you have to spend hours on the phone with Vivint to troubleshoot everything, it's almost like you're doing their job for them. If THEIR equipment isn't working properly, it has nothing to do with anything you did on your end or issues with your own internet, and you need a technician to come and fix the problem.. you have to pay a fee! What a surprise. I had Vivint for my alarm system at my previous home that I lived in for 8 years and never had issues before. I also never remember having to jump through hoops to get issues fixed. If you call, all you get is a group of people, who are extremely hard to hear/understand due to language issues, who do nothing more than read a script.
