Immediately after signing the contract (and I mean literally, *immediately* after) there was a dramatic switch. We were locked in and they knew it. Caveat emptor. The three years of coverage was periodically marked by technical issues that were a pain to coordinate and resolve. Our outdoor storage shed got burgled a couple of times and interacting with True Protection I just remember having the sense that they did not GAF, to be blunt. The alarm system, and monitoring was a nuisance and source of stress. You will be better served with a DIY solution from Best Buy that does not rely on locking yourself in to these contracts. It is incredibly rare for me to bother giving a negative review. I try to review small businesses I interact with who do great work. When I saw the email soliciting reviews in my inbox, I was kinda shocked. Looking at all the glowing reviews, I found myself agreeing with another reviewer who thought this was deluged with friends and family pumping the numbers. It's just hard for me to imagine a company that consistently delivered such a poor customer experience for multiple years could have these glowing reviews. I I will say it again: prior to signing the contract they are amazing. After you sign it is all downhill. Beware.

The company's owner fell below the basic expectation of providing customer service on a recent…read moreresidential technician visit. Advanced Protection installed home security equipment and was pleased with the experience until I had an issue. I changed ISP and experienced technical difficulty reestablishing the wireless connecting with my IOS device. The service technician arrived and told me that he did not have experience with the equipment I had installed. He made it clear that he was only trained on Ring products but would try to help. It was evident quickly that this service call was not something he was able to understand enough to resolve. The camera equipment company told him he needed to scan the DVR code and establish a local connection. The technician explained that he wasn't properly trained to provide that level of service. He was pleasant to work with and he communicated well. He apologized profusely and told me that another service technician would come out to assist. A few days later after receiving an invoice and no follow up from the business owner, i reached out to Johnny. Repeatedly, Johnny told me it was my issue related to my account (i.e. email address). I tried to explain that it wasn't an issue with my email, and even sent a screenshot indicating that logging into my home security account wasn't the issue. I reminded him again that it was an issue with connection my IOS device to the cameras - my cameras were sending connection errors within the app. Throughout this, Johnny never took the time to return my follow -up calls, would only communicate via text which left the situation confusing, and ultimately frustrating. I truly didn't expect a company with an A+ BBB rating to struggle with what seemed like a basic technician call. Disappointed in owner's lack of initiative to resolve the issue. Advanced Protection might lend itself to be better suited for Ring and Nest products but not alternative home security options.

Just like one of the previous reviewers stated, Johnny will not return your calls if it involves an refund. I hired him to replace my current main panel and add a secondary panel. We found one that Brinks currently uses. Johnny installed the panels but did not coordinate with Brinks to initiate the monitoring. Luckily I had already spoken with Brinks and they were sending a tech out to look at the installation and figure out why they (Brinks) couldn't complete the installation remotely. When the Brinks tech arrived, he thought this was a simple problem. However, he ended up spending more than 4 hours at my house trying to get the panels to communicate with the monitoring station. In the end nothing worked. Brinks stated the panels that Johnny installed, even though they were the same model they have, were registered with a different company and therefore they could not be re-registered with Brinks (think of this as a reseller, used product). Brinks ended up removing the panels and installing two different ones and they worked fine. Once this was completed I contacted Johnny to refund the $513.11 I paid for his panels. He said he would have to get with the company he purchased them from to check on their refund policy. I told him that was his issue, and he (Johnny) is required to pay me since I purchased the panels from him. Its been over one month and I still have not received my refund. All Johnny has said is he will take the panels back but I will be charged $175.00 as some short of bulls..t service charge. Now I will start legal action against him. In addition he also conned me out of my main panel which he said I would get a $100 credit but that was not listed in his invoice. So again, stay away from this company no matter how many 5 star ratings he has. Note if a company is not listed with the BBB most likely they are not legit. Stay away. Don't make the mistake I did by not recognizing what the 1 star reviews said.
