ADT basically unable or unwilling to fix predecessor's "Protection one" hard-wired wires. Put in wireless stuff that in several cases gives incorrect low-battery messages. Units have unacceptable delay for second somewhat distant display -- poor connectivity and no "relay". Terribly clumsy software. Terrible online presence requiring separate logins to alarm.com, myadt.com, adt.com. Depends on whether you want to arm/disarm, pay bill or set autopay, or other issues. Occasional competent advice by phone or in-person repair, but more often a really bad bureaucracy. Overpriced and generally low quality devices; ordering a battery from them at 3 times retail.. Separately I'm trying SimpliSafe, which at least puts you more in control of devices and apps, and is not so overpriced. read more

Recently bought my retirement home. Previous owner had ADT, so a transfer woild seem logical. Charging $45 / mo for monitoring. Scheduled appointment informing the CSR that we are coming in from out of town as we have not moved yet. Date of appt cam and went without any notification. Called at least 6 times asking for install manager to return call. Was told it would be 24 to 48s to speak to a manager concerning the installtime that they missed. Three days have past and no one has called except for the 1800 schedular. If they cant communicate with the customer than why would I trust ADP with anything else. horrible I signed up a little over a year ago a man came door-to-door and he was selling security service. I had just bought this house so I thought it was really important for me to set up a security alarm for me and my son when you're later it's not working. I call to try to get them to come fix it and the wireless and box that they gave me as well and they they can't come back even though my contract is for three years and that I have to pay $170 so I called the man that originally set me up with the Alarm and had his technician come out and install it, and he said that there was nothing that he could do for me anymore that I would have to go to ADT customer service. I spoke to a customer service representative that talked down to me because he believed that I did not get the chime box from him, but I did and he said that they cannot fix it. I have to hire an electrician for their chime box and now I need to talk to the customer loyalist because it cost over $1000 to buy out of my contract and they are refusing to come fix it unless I pay $170. read more

ADT put the transformer in my master bedroom closet using one plug and blocking the other plug. Making it so I can't use the plugs in my closet!! They also two really ugly tablet looking things on my kitchen countertop and I have no idea what they are there for, or how to use them. DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THIS COMPANY!!! They were my service provider until their system stopped working. After I paid for them to come out, the rep said my system was no longer relevant even though it wasn't that old. I would need an entirely new system at the cost of about $4,000. I said no and then tried to cancel but they expected me to pay about $550 for about 8 more months of service even though the system no longer worked. They said I had to pay it off or pay about $4,000 for a new system!! I had already been paying nearly $60 per month for about 10 years!!! Good luck with them! read more

Small business owners, please read this before signing with ADT. I paid ADT over $5,700 for a commercial security system -- including $3,075 upfront and almost two years of monthly payments even after my business closed and I wasn't using the service. When I could no longer afford it, ADT demanded 90% of the remaining contract (about $1,600) as an early-termination fee and refused to fully waive it despite my financial hardship and spotless payment history. I contacted ADT numerous times by phone, email, and chat, offered to return all the equipment, and even filed a complaint through the Better Business Bureau, but the company still refused to help. Their agents kept calling, offering verbal "discounts" that they wouldn't confirm in writing -- a frustrating and misleading experience. I'm sharing this to warn other small-business owners: read every clause carefully before signing with ADT. The contract locks you in and makes it extremely hard to cancel, even if your business closes. ADT's policies may be legal, but they are not fair or compassionate. Everything really they came inspected the old system that was still in the house and then gave suggestions on what would work best with what we wanted now and then they proceeded to go to work and they installed what we wanted, they went over how to operate the system and made sure we all understood and if there were any questions. They made sure everything was up and running before they left. read more

I don't know about the San Antonio office, but ADT is the most disorganized company I've ever had the displeasure of contacting. Everything is in another department, and no one talks with each other. Their IT department needs to be fired immediately. Their new AI Assistant which they force you to interact with is so bad that my 12-year-old could have done better. Just plain awful. read more

ADT installed our home monitoring system including three cameras. I feel extremely safe now in our home. The representative came to our home with full on protective clothing. He had almost a hazmat suit on...jump suit with protective foot coverings to prevent staining our carpet. He was courteous and very helpful in giving us a tutorial of our system. While ADT is a little on the pricey side, it is worth for that peace of mind. read more

Think twice before signing any contract with ADT. I am moving to a residential community that has their own security system. I called to cancel my service and was told that I had to pay an early cancelation fee. This fee would be 90% of what would be left on my account. Now keep in mind that I wasn't giving this information while I was on the phone with them telling me all about my fees, nor did I see the 10 page contract until after I agreed. I should of made the person sit and wait till I had enough time to read it all. But that's not even the worse part. Take a look at section 34 of the contract. You can't even get out of this contract if you DIE. No joke, they are going to hit your grieving family with this. 34. EARLY CANCELLATION: Client understands and agrees that the charges due under this Agreement are based on Client's agreement to receive and pay for Services for the full Initial Term or then current Renewal Term of this Agreement and that Company has relied upon Client's agreement and has incurred costs in deciding to enter into this Agreement. If Client cancels Services or otherwise terminates this Agreement during the Initial Term or then current Renewal Term, or if Company cancels this Agreement as a result of Client's default, Client agrees to pay Company 90% of the total remaining monthly charges otherwise due under this Agreement and any amount Company paid Client to pay off any outstanding financial or contractual obligations with Client's Previous Provider. Client acknowledges and agrees that the amount of these charges is a reasonable estimate of Company's damages resulting from Client's breach of this Agreement and is not a penalty. Client agrees to pay such amount immediately in full upon cancellation or termination of this Agreement and acknowledges that any sale of home, death, or transfers constitutes a cancellation of this Agreement. To prevent fraud, all cancellation requests must be provided by verbal notice to the Company AND in writing on the Company's official NOTICE OF CANCELLATION form which can be obtained by calling (844) 442-5337. The completed NOTICE OF- CANCELLATION form must then be mailed to 450 North 1500 West. Orem. UT 84057 or faxed to (385) 218-2880 and received by the Company before Client's cancellation or termination of this Agreement shall be effective. Cannot begin to say how bad the experience with ADT has been. First try calling in. If you survive that you can move ahead. Now they are telling me that what they installed and worked no longer works and I need a hole in a different wall or a new outlet installed. Run do not walk away from ADT. and the appointment scheduled from 2-4 never happened but a call at 4:45 said he'd be there at 5:30. Meanwhile the panel chimed every 20 seconds for days because they could not schedule an appointment for a week. And if I do install a new outlet it will chime forever. And the hole in the wall is too big thus the notification that the panel is opened. Insanity! Now I get it that the installers get a commission and I fell for it when I wanted one panel updated. I have used ADT monitoring services for more than 1 year. Please be aware they have a 30-day wait-time policy when enacting requests for change to service. However, what you need to know is that the time to speak to a qualified representative who can enact the change may be prolonged. In my case, I contacted the company using the online chat function and 2 phone calls over a 1-week time frame. I received a response from a qualified representative over 1 week later. Therefore, the change that I requested will appear on my bill in 2 months. Warning: if you are considering any changes to service, you should call ADT 3 months ahead of time to allow time for them to schedule a qualified representative to respond to your request AND to account for the 30-day wait-time policy. The positives are that ADT offer the chat function as a first step and many resources on the website to read. read more

ADT - yes, we have communicated through Instagram. I refuse to 'purchase' any equipment at my new location. Why? Because I would not own it! And when I move again, I'd have to buy it again! I have already spent too much money for something you now tell me I do not own and can't move. I will leave as many reviews as possible to inform people not to purchase ADT equipment because they do not actually own it. ADT is an incompetent company! In this day and age, ADT customers should easily be able to move the equipment from one location to another without spending any additional money!! DO NOT enter any contracts with ADT!!!! We purchased an ADT alarm system (door sensors, glass break, video cameras, etc.) with the understanding the equipment belongs to us, and we paid for the equipment upfront (approx $2k) Further, we knew we would be only at the one location for a year to two year. We had sales people from ADT come to the property twice to install equipment and no one ever never told us we did not own the equipment! Now, it is time to move, so I call ADT about moving the equipment to our new location in the same city and we were told the equipment could NOT be moved, the equipment belongs to the address where it is registered and does not belong to the owner who paid for it!! ADT Is a company that scams their customers into buying products that they do not own!! How is this possible for them to stay in business? Are they so incompetent that they cannot change the addresses in their system from one location to another and allow the owner (who paid for the equipment) to move the equipment? I would never enter another contract with ADT and do not recommend anyone else to enter any contracts with ADT! You're not buying anything!! You don't own anything and it stays with the residence! The only thing you get is a monthly bill and a headache!! And not to mention, you're left with debt from buying their equipment that you don't own!! Do not use this company. Salesman will lie to you about the contract, ask to see contract before you sign. I sold my house before contract was up, would not let me cancel without a buyout of the remaining contact. Was told I could freeze contract while my new home was being built, then install in new home and continue with contract. Home taking a longer to complete. Was sent a bill stating 60 days past due, needed immediate attention. Talked to customer service, said new home ready in a month, told by one rep, need to pay off old contract and sign a new one for new home, previous rep said it would transfer. Talked to another rep, explained I was trying to figure out what to do, didn't want collection involved. Told I had 90 days before it went to collection. One week later, they sent to collection. Call center is worthless, off shore, and each rep not trained in policy, each one tells you something different. Stay far away from this predatory company. read more

We requested to update all of our equipment after being a long time customer and when the technician arrived he only showed up with a new control panel. We were told we would have to order new window and door sensors and install them ourselves. We opted to cancel our service only to be told they would need 30 days notice. We would be charged for the month but they would not cancel or accept our cancelation until the end of the billing cycle. I bought an ADT system in the Fall of 2023. I chose ADT because I didn't want to hassle with a do it yourself system. What a waste. I've spent over 20 hours on the phone with ADT over that time for various small issues. Today, I'm 1 hour in between phone calls and chats over a failed sensor. The reason I chose a "professional company" and pay them is because I expect them to stand behind their product and services. I do not expect to spend my valuable time troubleshooting their equipment. I could have done that with a DIY system. The call should go like this. "Hello sir we see you are having an issue, when would be convenient to have a technician come out? I'd be off the phone in 5 minutes and get the service I paid and am still paying for. Don't ask for my email and for me to submit my info to whoever monitors this site. I have wasted as much time as I will with this company. I will make sure everyone of my friends know that ADT is not the way to go. read more

Have had ADT for 15 years now. Water sensor started failing 3 weeks ago, tech comes out says we need a new sensor. Schedules an appt 10 days out. Calls on appt day to cancel because he has the wrong sensor. Comes out yesterday with the correct sensor and "fixes the issue" Charges a service fee. 1:55am alarm goes off from the sensor. Turn it off and it goes off again. Haven't slept much and annoyed that I paid $60 to not get any sleep. So get ADT if you want to pay for sleepless nights and getting woken up. read more

My screen went offline for a month because it stopped working. I called to get it fixed and they wanted to charge me to get it looked at. The call dropped and I had to call them back several times to get it fixed , knowing my system is down and not monitoring anything. They told me I wouldn't be charged. But they still billed me for it. That goes to show how much they care about your "safety". DO NOT GET ADT! I SAY AGAIN, DO NOT GET ADT. First off, their equipment was nothing but trouble from the start. Cameras went dark and had to be unplugged and reset incessantly. The battery in the base unit died in less than a year and had to be replaced 3 more times in 3 years. Once opened, the base unit did not close properly, no matter how many times we tried, so we've been living with a 'base unit tamper' alert for 3 years now. ADT wanted $89 just to come look at it, so...hard pass. None of this, however, compares to the horrible ordeal I just endured trying to cancel our service. The clown in the cancellation department kept reading off his index cards at me about how valuable their service is, and how my equipment may no longer work properly (as if it ever did!) and how he can get me 15% off their ridiculously overpriced monitoring if I stay with them. I explained to the clown that we have not set the alarm in TWO YEARS and have no need for their obsolete, overpriced equipment, but he would not listen and continued to badger me about keeping the service. I do hope that my call was monitored and I hope the clown loses his job. He mumbled so badly that I could not understand half of what he said, and he WOULD NOT stop badgering me to reconsider. What part of "CANCEL MY SERVICE" did he not understand? I truly believe that he was trying to get me to hang up in anger to prevent having to put through the cancellation order. Kept saying he would "work with me" and then started in again on the badgering to keep the useless service. I never had such a terrible experience with customer service anywhere, at any time, in my life. I am normally a very calm, reasonable person, but this clown had me yelling and cursing at him to PAY ATTENTION and honor my request. I had my alarm for about a year it kept beeping because a couple of sensors the batteries were low I contact the service department and they sent a contractor they charge me I believe 63.00 for the service call and then I asked the gentleman that went to my house if you could put One sensor on my garage door and he said yes and it would cost around $60 and I believe the batteries were $8 and he replaced two of them after doing all that the gentleman left next day it would still beeping so I called again they sent another gentleman to correct what the other gentleman did not do right. After that I thought everything was good but guess what I got a $307 plus the service call that I had already paid him on the spot that day.. so I contacted ADT and I explained everything to them they said they would get back to me the next day that they were going to call the contractor and the contractor told them that they installed two sensors when that was a lie. So then I reached out to the gentleman that installed the sensor to let him know if someone can come down and show me where they installed the two sensors to disprove him wrong but nobody ever contacted me so the moral of the story is beware do not trust the contractors I go to your house and if they are going to do some work make sure they give you a breakdown of everything and give it to you in writing before you do anything so you don't get cheated out of your hard-earned money I hope this helps other people not get cheated or scammed read more

Unfortunately, I feel scammed by this company. I have reached out several times to no avail. The representative I was working with was, Joel Tovar. It is very ironic that I have called him and left messages, but he doesn't return my calls. No one is that busy, which leaves me to think he was trying to scam me. We were promised a three month promotion of no payments, but I received a bill for $164. Now, all of a sudden no one answers the phone. The lack of professionalism is unparalleled. ADT Security Service. ADT provides faulty equipment. Their tech support lacks. My alarm was triggered in three areas, smoke, heat, and CO due to low battery reading. I bought these batteries from ADT. A ADT technician switched my new batteries for some in his service truck. Those batteries are reading low battery within one or two two minimum. I call ADT and go through all the processes of resetting my alarm. The issue is not resolved. They offer to sell me new batteries again. I refuse. I had already paid for new batterie. They replaced the sensor on their last visit. It's not sitting right on its base. They want me to pay a $59.00 home service tech fee to fix their faulty equipment. I refuse. They suggest I cancel my service to resolve the faulty equipment issue. This company should stand by its service and its products. read more

I owned 2 properties that had ADT as my service provider. I had their service for 35 years in my primary residence and 8 years in my secondary residence. I canceled my service on my primary residence,and they mistakenly canceled my service on my secondary residence. Didn't know they had canceled it,until 2 months later,when we needed service. They didn't contact me about it being canceled. Terminated my contract with them. Had to pay a $391.00 cancelation fee,even though I had been a customer with them,for over 35 years. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Their contract readings and explanations are poorly explained. There rates are too high, and customer service is horrible. read more

ADT is terrified. From the quality of their cameras to canceling the service. ADT service is over rated. The quality of the cameras are horrible that is why I switched to Vivint. My contract was expired & was on month to month. When I called to cancel was never told about any 30 day notice. The young lady canceled my service and advised of the refund. I knew there was a prior bill for June, but when I called to confirm the cancelation due to I never received confirmation. I have had ADT installed in my home since 2002 with no problems, however one week ago my panel message stated communication failure. when i called i was walked through a troubleshooting process and was told they were not getting a signal. i have been paying every month through autopay yet was told they could not tell me when the system first failed and they would give no refund.
