We been with this company for yrs and would expect better services than we been receiving. There was a thunderstorm a week ago. Service went out on our security system. ADT is now pushing its ADT plus platform which is nothing more than subpar DIY equipment which is easily disabled and bypassed. I was previously an incredibly satisfied customer and had referred ADT to friends. I had reached out to ADT to have the same system I liked installed at my new place. A young installer showed up 3 hours late and insisted he could do the install in 3 hours. 8 hours later and close to midnight he puts a new contract in front of us and explains he's installed ADT plus. And it's the latest technology and all that is available from ADT now. He has his supervisor email us the we have 40 days to exchange it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Skipping through 6 months of phone calls with ADT and finding out that we were lied to, the ADT plus folks said they can see in our file that we were told we could exchange for the ADT system we had initially requested but they will not be honoring that or letting us out of our contract.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were told we can purchase a second system in addition to ADT plus, but we will not be seeing any credit. Also as an update, the equipment (costing over $4k) has failed within a year. Bottom line is that the average person has no recourse and ADT can act egregiously without consequence. Also ADT had a massive data breach last month and I have yet to receive a notice from them that our personal data was accessed and is now on the dark web. I've been receiving various alerts from other monitoring sources we have. Finally, in addition to the hundreds of one stars here, check out the ~11,000 better business bureau complaints. So if this is the quality of protection you are seeking - paying top dollar for a complete failure in performance by a company which admits that it has misrepresented its policies and products to you and then has allowed your personal information to be stolen - you have found the right "security" company. read more

This company is truly the scum of the earth. We moved into a house where the previous owners already had ADT equipment, so we thought, hey, why don't we just call and open an account so we can use the system that's already here? Seems simple enough. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called and activated the service. The guy on the phone told me we were paying month to month and could cancel whenever we wanted. At NO point did he tell me I was being locked into a 2 year contract.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And because the only way to activate and open the account was over the phone, I had nowhere to check this information in writing. Our system had multiple errors that made it impossible to arm. We had multiple "virtual appointments" with techs, changed all the batteries, spent hours following troubleshooting instructions, and nothing worked. After having the system for about a month and never actually being able to use it, I said, you know what, let's just cancel this dumbass service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is impossible to get in touch with anyone at this company. She said the only thing she could do was reinstate our account so we wouldn't have to pay the $727 immediately. We finally scheduled an actual tech to come out after she tried to book me for yet another pointless virtual appointment. The tech came and fixed the issue in about 5 minutes. After we had spent HOURS troubleshooting with their virtual techs. He wasn't nice at all, but at least he fixed the problem. But alas, the $727 bill is STILL on our account. Now I need to call AGAIN and spend another 1.5+ hours trying to get someone to remove a bill that I was never told about in the first place. Units have unacceptable delay for second somewhat distant display -- poor connectivity and no "relay". Terribly clumsy software. Overpriced and generally low quality devices; ordering a battery from them at 3 times retail.. ADT installed our home monitoring system including three cameras. I feel extremely safe now in our home. The representative came to our home with full on protective clothing. He had almost a hazmat suit on...jump suit with protective foot coverings to prevent staining our carpet. He was courteous and very helpful in giving us a tutorial of our system. horrible I signed up a little over a year ago a man came door-to-door and he was selling security service. I had just bought this house so I thought it was really important for me to set up a security alarm for me and my son when you're later it's not working. I call to try to get them to come fix it and the wireless and box that they gave me as well and they they can't come back even though my contract is for three years and that I have to pay $170 so I called the man that originally set me up with the Alarm and had his technician come out and install it, and he said that there was nothing that he could do for me anymore that I would have to go to ADT customer service. Now they are telling me that what they installed and worked no longer works and I need a hole in a different wall or a new outlet installed. Meanwhile the panel chimed every 20 seconds for days because they could not schedule an appointment for a week. And if I do install a new outlet it will chime forever. Think twice before signing any contract with ADT. I am moving to a residential community that has their own security system. I called to cancel my service and was told that I had to pay an early cancelation fee. This fee would be 90% of what would be left on my account. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Now keep in mind that I wasn't giving this information while I was on the phone with them telling me all about my fees, nor did I see the 10 page contract until after I agreed[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I should of made the person sit and wait till I had enough time to read it all. But that's not even the worse part. Take a look at section 34 of the contract. You can't even get out of this contract if you DIE. No joke, they are going to hit your grieving family with this. 34. EARLY CANCELLATION: Client understands and agrees that the charges due under this Agreement are based on Client's agreement to receive and pay for Services for the full Initial Term or then current Renewal Term of this Agreement and that Company has relied upon Client's agreement and has incurred costs in deciding to enter into this Agreement. If Client cancels Services or otherwise terminates this Agreement during the Initial Term or then current Renewal Term, or if Company cancels this Agreement as a result of Client's default, Client agrees to pay Company 90% of the total remaining monthly charges otherwise due under this Agreement and any amount Company paid Client to pay off any outstanding financial or contractual obligations with Client's Previous Provider. Client acknowledges and agrees that the amount of these charges is a reasonable estimate of Company's damages resulting from Client's breach of this Agreement and is not a penalty. ADT - yes, we have communicated through Instagram. I refuse to 'purchase' any equipment at my new location. Why? Because I would not own it! And when I move again, I'd have to buy it again! Now, it is time to move, so I call ADT about moving the equipment to our new location in the same city and we were told the equipment could NOT be moved, the equipment belongs to the address where it is registered and does not belong to the owner who paid for it!! ADT Is a company that scams their customers into buying products that they do not own!! How is this possible for them to stay in business? Are they so incompetent that they cannot change the addresses in their system from one location to another and allow the owner (who paid for the equipment) to move the equipment? I have used ADT monitoring services for more than 1 year. Please be aware they have a 30-day wait-time policy when enacting requests for change to service. However, what you need to know is that the time to speak to a qualified representative who can enact the change may be prolonged. In my case, I contacted the company using the online chat function and 2 phone calls over a 1-week time frame. I received a response from a qualified representative over 1 week later. Therefore, the change that I requested will appear on my bill in 2 months. Warning: if you are considering any changes to service, you should call ADT 3 months ahead of time to allow time for them to schedule a qualified representative to respond to your request AND to account for the 30-day wait-time policy. The positives are that ADT offer the chat function as a first step and many resources on the website to read. read more

The reason I chose a "professional company" and pay them is because I expect them to stand behind their product and services. I do not expect to spend my valuable time troubleshooting their equipment. I could have done that with a DIY system. The call should go like this. "Hello sir we see you are having an issue, when would be convenient to have a technician come out? I'd be off the phone in 5 minutes and get the service I paid and am still paying for. Don't ask for my email and for me to submit my info to whoever monitors this site. I have wasted as much time as I will with this company. Have had ADT for 15 years now. Water sensor started failing 3 weeks ago, tech comes out says we need a new sensor. Schedules an appt 10 days out. Calls on appt day to cancel because he has the wrong sensor. Comes out yesterday with the correct sensor and "fixes the issue" Charges a service fee. 1:55am alarm goes off from the sensor. Turn it off and it goes off again. Haven't slept much and annoyed that I paid $60 to not get any sleep. So get ADT if you want to pay for sleepless nights and getting woken up. read more

My screen went offline for a month because it stopped working. I called to get it fixed and they wanted to charge me to get it looked at. First off, their equipment was nothing but trouble from the start. Cameras went dark and had to be unplugged and reset incessantly. The battery in the base unit died in less than a year and had to be replaced 3 more times in 3 years. Once opened, the base unit did not close properly, no matter how many times we tried, so we've been living with a 'base unit tamper' alert for 3 years now. ADT wanted $89 just to come look at it, so...hard pass. None of this, however, compares to the horrible ordeal I just endured trying to cancel our service. The clown in the cancellation department kept reading off his index cards at me about how valuable their service is, and how my equipment may no longer work properly (as if it ever did!) and how he can get me 15% off their ridiculously overpriced monitoring if I stay with them. I explained to the clown that we have not set the alarm in TWO YEARS and have no need for their obsolete, overpriced equipment, but he would not listen and continued to badger me about keeping the service. I do hope that my call was monitored and I hope the clown loses his job. He mumbled so badly that I could not understand half of what he said, and he WOULD NOT stop badgering me to reconsider. What part of "CANCEL MY SERVICE" did he not understand? I truly believe that he was trying to get me to hang up in anger to prevent having to put through the cancellation order. Kept saying he would "work with me" and then started in again on the badgering to keep the useless service. I never had such a terrible experience with customer service anywhere, at any time, in my life. I am normally a very calm, reasonable person, but this clown had me yelling and cursing at him to PAY ATTENTION and honor my request. I had my alarm for about a year it kept beeping because a couple of sensors the batteries were low I contact the service department and they sent a contractor they charge me I believe 63.00 for the service call and then I asked the gentleman that went to my house if you could put One sensor on my garage door and he said yes and it would cost around $60 and I believe the batteries were $8 and he replaced two of them after doing all that the gentleman left next day it would still beeping so I called again they sent another gentleman to correct what the other gentleman did not do right. After that I thought everything was good but guess what I got a $307 plus the service call that I had already paid him on the spot that day.. I bought these batteries from ADT. A ADT technician switched my new batteries for some in his service truck. Those batteries are reading low battery within one or two two minimum. I call ADT and go through all the processes of resetting my alarm. The issue is not resolved. They offer to sell me new batteries again. I refuse. I had already paid for new batterie. They replaced the sensor on their last visit. It's not sitting right on its base. They want me to pay a $59.00 home service tech fee to fix their faulty equipment. I refuse. They suggest I cancel my service to resolve the faulty equipment issue. This company should stand by its service and its products. read more

Horrible company, I do not recommend this company, they are liars. They give you a price, they make a contract with you, they lie to you about the price and charge you more, they do not comply with what was agreed upon. There are better companies. read more
