Don't know how this business got such great reviews?! Well, of course the more you visit the more you see the lack of customer service you'll get here. Been a regular for quite some time now (since they've opened) & sadly I'll never be bringing in business here again! I totally agree with Lance N. on their bad business practice. The owner (Tasha) is rude & doesn't really care about keeping her clientele. The service here is a hit or miss. Sometimes they're helpful and other times it's like you don't even exist in the store! Just last year I absolutely loved this boutique, now...not so much. When it was in its original suite everything was perfect. The amount of customer service and the sincerity was so welcoming. After a long while they extended their I guess you could say clientele and made a store across the way called belle. That shut down pretty quick, but they then combined belle and adore. I used to go in just for the bags or to look at the watches. Always such a cute variety, especially when it comes to bags. Today however I went in to look at headbands. The headbands are on display behind the register where there is a walkway to get to it. I kindly asked the worker to see the headbands since there was a sales rack right in the standing area, and didn't just want to roll it out of my way and into someone else's you know? She then looked at me as if I were stupid and spoke to me in the most condescending tone and told me that "these are not headbands" pointing at the necklaces on the wall. As if I don't know what I'm talking about. I was so upset, the nerve of her to speak to me in that tone, and I was going to purchase something too. She changed that super quick. I thought boutique workers are supposed to be nice and friendly, and help out not speak in that rude tone the worker spoke with today. Don't need to deal with teenage/young adult rudeness. And plus, I saw that they started to carry a brand that's also sold at jeans warehouse. Nothing against jeans warehouse, but how are you going to sell something in a "high end boutique" and have the same name in a store like jeans warehouse. Can someone say markups? How can you go wrong with a shop that bears the name "Adore"? Seriously. If I had to sum this little gem of a boutique up in one sentence, it would be as follows : Tropical breeze with a touch of Melrose funk. I'm a picky shopper because my taste is rather dichotomous. It's hard trying to find things that fit the Local Girl Bonnie who spent her impressionable teenager-to-early adult years in the islands (granted I'm what you would call a "townie" but whatever. Bite me. Actually, on second thought, please don't. Mkaythxbye) running around in shorts, T&C shirts, colorful printed dresses, slippers and donned coconut bras to dance Tahitian during high school to Caligirl Bonnie with the closet that resembles the place where colors and patterns went to die. I think I own maybe...2 sundresses total, a few pieces in red, grey, khaki...um...I think I have something in pink although I'm no longer sure what it is and I think I saw something in blue once upon a time. ...hm. I don't think I have anything that has flowers on it or swirls or polka dots. I do have a lot of things in the color black and/or with skulls on them. Hm. Yeah. Anyway. So yeah. I'm that kind of the pain in the @ss to shop for. I went into this store because I'm on a desperate mission to find a dress for a wedding this weekend. It's not just any wedding. It's the wedding of one of my dearest friends from high school and I'll be meeting his wife for the first time. Talk about no pressure. Oh. Did I also mention that the dress I did bring is WAY too formal and everyone I've described it to in Honolulu basically laughed at me and told me I need to get another dress? Great. I'm agitated, I'm panicking, I'm stressed out....and then I stepped into Adore. The music is a kick ass mix of what my brother fondly calls "old school" hip hop (it's actually the stuff I listened to when I was that little punk's age) and today's top 40. Love it. It was the music that drew me into the shop. And then I saw the clothes. Beautiful beautiful pieces. I'm going to borrow Yu Shing's article in Midweek to tell you guys about the brands and why I fell even more in love with this little shop. There is seriously something for every woman in here whether you're the kind of dresser that adores the tattoo graphic look or the more Bebe-ish style. "Brands available at Adore include David Kahn, Anama, MM Couture by Miss Me, Soundgirl, Jenny N. Collection, Kersh, Brokedown and Omni. "The Omni brand is really popular right now and very important to us because a percentage of the proceeds goes to end poverty by the year 2025," adds Matsubara. Sort of. x) The two ladies (I think they're the owners) are the nicest, happiest, friendliest ladies I've ever met in a boutique. They were so helpful and were not pushy in any way. They didn't try to boost additional pieces on me or dangle endless streams of accessories in my face when I was standing in front of the register drooling over my purchases. They greet people by their names and take time out of their day to talk story with old customers who walk in just to say hi. Maybe I should restructure my description sentence to "Melrose Edginess Meets Aloha Smiles". I ended up ransacking their sale section and walked away with a ton of goodies from adorable sundresses (I got the same one in black AND white because it was so nice I had to hit it twice), cuffed capri jeans in the beige and white. But my favorite piece? It's a black sleeveless Henley type shirt with a tattoo-ish graphic embellished with mini-bling. I'm a sucker for anything sparkly. I see. I want. I buy. However, what made me really drool over this lovely shirt besides the fact that it's blingy and made from a super comfy, stretchy fabric? It has the words "Fresh Poison" emblazoned across the midriff in Old English lettering. If that doesn't scream BONNIE then I don't know what does. Their stuff ranges from $40's-$90's that I saw but please please please do not forget their sale rack because they have excellent pieces with generous markdowns on already reasonable prices. I am definitely coming back whenever I'm back in Honolulu. This shop really lives up to its name. read more

I bought a $9.45 product. The store said I count not have a bag since they didn't have one this size. I asked if I could have a bigger bag behind the counter that I saw. They cashier said no because that doesn't cover the cost of the bag. So I offered to pay for bag. The cashier said not it's okay you can just have it and pulled a drawn open of small black plastic bags. I didn't know giving bags was such a big deal. read more

They were busy with a 30% off sale today, but the friendly sales staff were turning in every direction to help customers and remained pleasant and helpful. This boutique has a lot of very beautiful clothes that I wish I could afford more of! Pretty pricey if you aren't rich. On average the items were typically between $50 and up (over $100). They do have a 50% off rack sometimes and you can find a lot of cute stuff on there too for a more affordable range... They are located inside of Kahala Mall. read more

I love this store! It's close to my house, the girls there are super helpful and friendly, they have cute stuff, and they always have things on sale! :) The only problem is that if I'm limited in time, I can't go through all of the racks! This just means I have to go back another day and look again. Yes, the clothes may cost more than Macy's but I like that you won't see 10 people with the same outfit! There always seems to be new shipments of cute clothes so I try to go every other week to "keep up" with their ever changing supply. Tasha, Jen and the rest of the girls are super sweet and helpful! I had a great experience at Adore. I was in town visiting a friend and we went to look around at the shops in the mall. We were immediately greeted by 2 sweet girls when we walked in and they checked in with us a couple times to make sure we were doing alright and even get a different size for me. I was looking for a jumpsuit and there were a lot of cute options. I ended up getting a jumpsuit and two blouses. I thought that things were reasonably priced. Many stores stand by the quality of their merchandise with normal wear and tear and Adore apparently does not. I purchased a dress that retailed for $75 before tax at Adore and then after wearing it for 2 hours shopping at Kahala Mall and then 2 days later for 4 hours sitting in a living room visiting with a friend and then a brief stop at the beach to look at the view... it had a tear in the fabric. I had no idea how this tear had occurred as I had not noticed any stepping on the dress or snag, or anything and never tear my clothing. I thought that for owning the dress three days this was not acceptable. But I liked the dress enough that I went to Adore and purchased another. That's the positive side of my review... I was looking for a neutral maxi dress, simple, easy, and found it. I had originally liked it so much I wanted to purchase two, one for the beach and one for evenings out. But the fact that the first dress was so easily damaged turned me off. I asked them to consider the fact that merchandise should last a bit longer than three days and that maybe this dress had a weakness in the fabric or something so that maybe small normal tug had made such a tear... but they told me it was just my fault and there was nothing they could do. I really wanted to start coming his shop as a source for easy going no frills maxi dresses but I feel frustrated by this situation. Another store might have valued me enough as customer to give me some compensation... A chain store would have absolutely told me I could have another dress or store credit. In general I don't know how I feel about these local boutique stores. I am not sure if the vendors always produce quality merchandise that reflects the pricing. A boutique store in Hawaii Kai, not Adore, sold me a maxi dress and the elastic broke during the first wear. They replaced the dress with another dress but the same happened to the second dress as well. Then they offered to re-sew it for me. I usually don't shop at these small non-chain stores but these latest couple experiences have been off-putting. At least the Hawaii Kai store offered to solve the problem. I gave them two stars instead of one because I like the maxi dress. If the second maxi dress holds up to normal wear and tear I might go back and buy something if I liked it enough. But if this dress also has issues then, forget it. Still, I think you would agree that losing $75 because a dress couldn't handle normal wear after three days isn't great. read more

This is a really great boutique that I don't think gets enough credit for how awesome it is. The workers are really nice and they always check up on me when I am in the dressing room. The clothes they sell here are of really great quality and of course very stylish. What I like most about the clothes they have are the prints they come in! I really love colors and prints so I enjoy this place very much. They have a huge wall filled with accessories from bracelets to necklaces to earrings and they have a corner dedicated to all kinds of belts. Did I mention the amount of clutches and purses they carry? It is amazing !! All kinds of colors and styles. I can really do some damage to my back account in this store!!!!! Don't understand why this review was filtered out. It is the truth from a customer that has gone there many times before. Please think twice before going to this store. To me it was just bad business practice. 12/26/2011 I have been a faithful adorer up until today. Over the last several years since they opened their doors at Kahala I have shopped at this boutique. I loved this store so much, I would recommend them to everyone. While nothing has changed by way of product and pricing, the business mentality sure has. From a store that was good at product, and more importantly, quality customer service, they have taken a huge step down. I went in today to exchange (just for a different size, not a different product) and the owner told me that it wasn't going to be an "even" exchange because my mother purchased it with a coupon. My husband and I were confused as to why this would not be an even exchange when it's the same product. The owner went into a redundant explanation about how mother had purchased the item on sale and how she would be "loosing" money. It was the same exact product and she is getting the same product back to put on the rack, but I have to pay the difference for a gift I got at Christmas. To me this is just bad business practice! Any other store you go to would let you just switch out the item to change the size. So in the end, a decision was made, they won't lose money over the jacket, but they'll lose business instead. Be warned those of you who shop there, make sure you get the right size, and even if you think you're getting a discount, know that you're not! read more

I live 5 minutes from the Kahala mall and passed this store many times when I was pregnant thinking the clothes were really cute. I looked forward to shopping there when I got back into shape after baby. I did shop there last night while looking for a dress for a wedding I am attending. I was torn about purchasing a dress I found and the only reason I followed through was because I asked the employee if I could return it if I didn't like it, specifically stating some stores have skinny mirrors. We had a laugh about it and she said of course you have 90 days to RETURN it only jewelry is final sale. I returned the NEXT morning and a different employee and possibly manager or owner kindly informed me I cannot return it only get store credit, I explained the situation and that I had found a dress elsewhere and was specifically told I could (I had also spent 150 dollars at the store with other items besides the dress). I enjoy shopping locally to support small business and feel as if they care about their customers. This blanket rule which I was not told about and they were steadfast I could not return the dress for money was a deal breaker for me. Unfortunately, they could have had a repeat customer in me but I won't be returning. read more

Waste of time. I used to come here a lot because I thought their clothes were cute....a little bit cheap looking and way overpriced but their rude manager was the last straw. They only let you take in 10 items in the dressing room. If you have more than 10 items they make you get out and stand back in line all over again. No one explained this to me when they were helping me to my dressing room and when a staff member asked me if I wanted to exchange the items I didn't want for new items to try on that's when that little old hag manager interrupted and told her staff the "new rule." Hello...I'm standing right here. Be a manager and say it to my face. Instead of rectifying the situation you showed how unprofessional and rude you are. I used to give a lot of business to this place but it has gone down hill in quality of clothes and customer service. Save your money, save your time, and give your business to another local place that would actually appreciate a loyal customer. Give your money to a more deserving local company. I've been in retail for a fair amount of years now to know what to do & what not to do. Sure, I'm greeted as my sister & I walk through the doors but that's basically it. As I'm starting to grab clothes to try on, the only question I'm asked is if I would want a room started & then eventually ask if she can add whatever else I'm grabbing. She was basically in the back room majority of the time I was shopping (I understand if she was maybe grabbing restock but once someone is in the store, you should just stop whatever you're doing & pay attention to your customers), taking her phone out & texting on the sales floor.. then another coworker who I assumed was done with her shift for the day comes out from the back & now they're both at the register talking story, no acknowledgement whatsoever. Never checked up on how I was doing while in the dressing room & after I came out, she just kept continuing to talk to her coworker like I wasn't even there but waiting to ring me up.. overall, they need to work on their customer service. And in my personal opinion, they need to be more attentive, welcoming, & have a care about wanting to keep locals coming back to support local companies. read more
