I was assisted to try on a few dresses. The dresses feel soft and are flattering. What I love the most is the dress I chose has pockets. I was able to find a matching shirt for my husband and a dress my for 5 year old. The price seems a lot, but its not. It's made in Hawaii. Made in house. So the QUALITY and WORKMANSHIP is what you are getting from it. Many people ask where I get my clothes. A lot of my favorite pieces are from this place. The quality is worth the money spent. There is only a few places you can get an outfit that will look good, last long and makes you feel good in it. This place is will always be my go to. A lot of the clothing pieces travel well and are versatile. You can look beach ready and dress it up with the right accessories and shoes. Last purchase I made was for a dress item that was too long. They provided alterations so I got the dress and a week later picked it up. It was perfect! Overall, ladies you can't go wrong here. The have flattering tops, pants and dresses. They have some pieces for the family. They even have jewelry to accessorize. They even do alterations.

The selection is curated by various Hawaiian designs/prints which changes every season. The quality of products/material is 100% worth the price. In addition, don't be afraid to support local businesses whether you're visiting the island or local. Tip: if they don't have your size at this store, just ask if they have it at the Kailua store!

On a busy Sunday, there were about 4 girls working. We didn't quite get a greeting as we walked in, but i made sure we said hello as we walked in (which they just looked at us). But when we needed to see if the other location had a certain dress, one of the girls were more than willing to call them to check.

My mom is into fashions that show off the great designs that appear on a Japanese kimono and obi. So, it was really cool to finally visit Montsuki. A less well known local designer along the lines of Anne Namba (http://www.yelp.com/biz/anne-namba-designs-inc-honolulu ), the Yamasaki's have been custom designing kimono inspired clothing and accessories for years. I finally met Patty and she was very nice. Hearing all the stories from my mom and friend's mothers, I was interested to see what kind of stuff she had. Much of her clothing is quite elegant, I guess that's mainly a result of using kimono textiles as your base canvas. It's all very intricate and well made. She does quite a bit of custom work also seeing as she made a beautiful dress for my friend's mother. She sells everything from dresses, tops, jackets, purses, and if she doesn't have it, you can probably have her make one for you. Anyway, you've probably driven past this small boutique and not even known it. It's located right on Koko Head Avenue (close to the corner near Waialae Avenue). Go upstairs to a small hallway, you can actually see the sign from the street. Parking is in the metered lot behind.

When parking, make sure you pay attention as parking is through the building just before it, which you will need to take a left turn as you enter to where their parking lot is located. Their hours of operation are Thursday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This Japanese-inspired shop is pretty cool and offers many unique items for men, women, and teens, as well as a variety of trinkets. The ladies working at the front were very friendly Aunties who are oh so welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. They went out of their way to help us find a gift for a very special person. Prices vary depending on the item, as each piece is uniquely made. Some items are priced higher than others, and while it is a bit on the pricier side, it's understandable given the craftsmanship and uniqueness. Overall, it's a great place to shop for gifts, especially if you enjoy Japanese-inspired items.

I didn't get the name of the cashier... she was so helpful and informative! She encouraged me to come back soon as I was cashing out... I got a set of gift tags and clips for my cousin who makes greeting cards... and a set for my sister because her birthday party is coming up. These stationary items are reasonably priced!!! I want to go to their pop-up sale from September 20 to 22, 2024! Christmas is coming soon... get a jump on it! Jamie W and I were waiting for our reservation at The Pig and The Lady (review: https://yelp.to/LhZdZcHz26), so we had time to explore the Kaimuki neighborhood. Beyond the necessary malasada at Pipeline Bakery (review: https://yelp.to/coxyVLI5P8), we were curious about a couple of LGBTQ-owned businesses on Waialae Avenue. One was a fun pet supply emporium, The Public Pet (review: https://yelp.to/XXvGoRe97Q), and this was the other store. There were plenty of things to browse. Clothing and accessories appeared to dominate the main hallway, while housewares, handbag, and fabrics were presented in the back area. There were unique items like colorful hair clips, duck-head umbrellas, and tins of mackerel filets. Andrew makes sure there's nothing predictable about the inventory here, which makes a return visit mandatory. RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? Keep walking toward Waialae and there are lovely clothes, beautiful shell lei, local kine themed Christmas ornaments on sale, jewelry at register and other such boho-ish items. Big star for these lovely unique items! There are changing rooms available. We loved all the displays of old school things like a printing press! Lost a star because sadly no welcome when we entered, asking if we needed help or show us where things were located in case we didn't see them. Lost a second star because despite our purchasing some items there was no mahalo for stopping in. We purchased some beautiful ornaments for next year and some lei that was quite reasonably priced.
