We were excited to try Adeles after reading the reviews. I had read about the nice bar. When we got there there was a young woman with her mother and another lady who already said she had got shished but was still a bit loud. We were having a nice time talking to her mother and friend before this girl just got flat out mean. Her mother was obviously embarrassed. She start degrading us because we were not from Wheaton but from Warrenville and many other things. She was already a problem before we got there and she should have been removed. The food was good actually but it was a terrible experience due to the drunken mean patron at the bar that they should have removed. Probably will not go again even though it was nice. This was our second visit to Adelle's. We were actually supposed to eat at Ivy but I wanted a guaranteed great meal so we changed last minute. (Not that there is anything with Ivy, just haven't ever eaten there). This visit did not disappoint! Our server, Johnny, was great! Very knowledgeable on the craft beer list- which is quite respectable. He gave excellent recommendations, the risotto was phenomenal, I'm sad it's not still there! Dinner was great and although the there was no room for dessert, we went for the bread pudding anyway. Consistent with our previous visit, Adelle's is great and we will be back! read more

Not sure where to start with this place. Drinks... amazing. The bartender makes a killer old fashioned. Tuna tar tar... check, equally amazing. The scallops were cooked to perfection, like butter not chewy gummy bears, and I also tried the paella of the day which had chorizo and shrimp. I'll be back. WE DINED HERE on 12/23/18 - We had been to Adelles last summer and LOVED it. Everything was spot on and the food was delicious and creative. We were excited to go again and bragged to friends about how great it was. We finally returned this past weekend. Our waiter was quite helpful, but not present too much. I would expect the level of service from Chili's or Applebees, but NOT from Adelles. Our drinks went empty for a LONG time. When our food arrived, we got to play "food quiz" with the person bringing us our food (not our server). He would hold up a plate as tell us what he had in his hand, and we had to raise our hand or say "that's me" to get our food. This drives me nuts. Again - to be expected at Chili's or Applebees....but not at a fine dining restaurant like Adelles. They should know specifically what each patron ordered and deliver it to that person without the "Food quiz". The deviled eggs were "THE BEST", as were the cocktails. However, our waiter recommended the Cassoulet, a white bean stew with garlic sausage, duck confit and smoked pork. It was overcooked and the sausage was bland and grainy. The duck and pork were unrecognizable and seemed to disappear in the bean stew. Overall the dish had OK flavor, but had a mushy texture and seemed a bit overpriced at $22 or $26 (don't remember). My wife had the 1/2 chicken, and it was dry and overcooked. Water service was spotty and our re-order of drinks took much longer than it should have. When dessert time rolled around, our waiter asked if we were interested, and we said "Yes". After a LONG period, he returned with a dessert menu and an apology that he had forgotten and thought "someone else" was bringing the menu to us. Hmm - I thought HE was our waiter. Not sure if we will be returning. This was a VERY disappointing experience, at least not when we paid $250 for a dinner for 4 people. We probably could have brought it to their attention at the time, but when one is out with friends, its kind of uncomfortable to do so... read more

This was our third time to Adelle's, the first to the new location. The new building is great, but we were seated in a small room off the bar area. Rather stale, it would have been better to be in the main dining room. The food was very good, everyone in our party liked their entrees (duck, pork tenderloin, risotto). However, something was missing in mine (risotto) - can't put my finger on it, but I kept wanting to reach for the salt shaker. I still liked it very much - ate it all. Also had a warm bread pudding dessert that was excellent. The best thing about Adelle's is the menu - a wide range of great selections that all sound great. At most restaurants I have difficulty choosing between two or three entrees, but at Adelle's there were at least six that I really wanted to try. Bottom-line is that we would - and will - go back to Adelle's. read more

I give it a 3 because my date had andouille panko crusted scallops in a bed of sweet potatoes & corn. However there was 3 small scallops & it was way over seasoned with salt. i on the other hand had the beef tenderloin filet with green beans/pepper bed with smashed potatoes and everything was very bland. I wish that I could give 5 stars. We live nearby, therefore would love to support this business, however, after the fifth time of disappointing service, we will not be back. Let me be clear, the food is good, definitely has that homemade factor, but not great. It seems they don't change their menu that much. The desserts are my favorite since they do change seasonally. However, I don't understand why the service is so bad. There's a college down the street with smart kids who I'm sure would do a spectacular job with service! Why hire incompetent people who lack the persona and knowledge of the menu? Or is it just Adelle's not training their staff properly? I don't know. Our first time dining at Adelle's and we loved it. Hostesses were friendly as we checked in w/ them but we were early and were meeting friends so we started with drinks at the bar where we were met with bartenders that were friendly and knowledgeable. My husband was impressed w/ craft beer list while I was surprised at the lack of choices of white wine but did find one I enjoyed. Our friends joined us and we were seated at a intimate corner table for 6. ( although next time I want side wall private booth). Our waitress was a hoot. She had the perfect waitress profile down. Knowledge when asked, laughed and smiled with us but not intrusively, timing down to perfection. A few of us ordered entrees while the rest shared small bites. All were delicious but the standouts were the portabella mushroom truffle fries, the bacon wrapped scallop ( but found odd only one served but was able to add additional at a less pricey cost) tuna steak sliders and the fish tacos! We hadn't wanted the evening to end so we shared an amazing salted caramel ice cream w/ chocolate chip cookies and a delicious cup of coffee. Dessert was large enough to share and of course our seasoned waitress topped it with a candle a smile and 6 spoons. Perfection and one we'd like to repeat soon! read more

My wife and I ate there recently. They are apparently moving soon to a new location in Wheaton. Their current one is very tastefully decorated (modern furnishings and decor) but has a lot of hard surfaces. When we arrived for our 5:30 pm reservation, it was fairly sparsely occupied and nicely quiet; but by the time we left it was packed full and quite noisy. There is a bar by the door (where people can sit while waiting for their table); and they had stained glass stars hanging from wires in front of a bay window--very nice effect. The ambiance was both sophisticated and neighborhood-friendly. Our waitress was friendly and efficient; and the service overall was excellent. Finished dishes were removed from our table very quickly and quietly; and our water glasses were never less than half full. We started off with the crab cakes and the portabello mushroom fries. The first bite I took of the portabello mushroom fries (dipped in the white truffle sauce) was utterly divine. If I close my eyes, I can still remember the taste experience. The crab cake was also exquisite; I remember remarking to my wife that it was the best crab cake I had ever eaten. As a comparison, I enjoyed the crab cakes at Hugo's Frog Bar but they are not as good as the ones at Adelle's. The only note I should add for the portabello fries: they're fried. So having a few is like ascending to heaven; but if you're trying to divide them between two people, it's a bit on the rich side. I enjoyed the beef tenderloin dish (covered with mushrooms, a good 1.5-2 inches thick, served with asparagus and a cheddar cheese twice-baked potato); my wife had one of their specials: prosciutto-wrapped tilapia. The tenderloin was very, very good; quite possibly the best steak I've had in a number of years (but then I haven't visited Morton's). The tilapia was moist and light and very good as well. We finished by sharing a slice of Mango tart a la mode (with vanilla bean gelato and creme Anglaise). My wife dislikes mango but found this dessert delicious. The tart was somehow nicely tart and a nice contrast to the vanilla bean gelato. I asked my wife how many stars she would give to Adelle's. She said 4.5 (but it looks like it isn't possible to award half stars); there was once a really nice French restaurant in Champaign (we can't remember the name, but it was there in the late 80's)--that defined 5.0 stars for us. Adelle's is our new area favorite (albeit a bit pricey). read more

Let me start off by saying we used to visit the old location for many of our special occasion such as birthdays or anniversary and did enjoy the ambiance and food. We dined there for our anniversary in Feb. of 2012 for the first time after their move to the new location. They had a beef pot roast on the menu that sounded good. When it came, it looked good but it was very disappointing. The beef was so chewy that after chewing on it for awhile we had no choice except to spit it out. It tasted like cardboard. We made a mistake and did not send it back. Afterwards I contacted them through their web site to tell of our experience. I received no reply and so would recommend that if you go there that you make sure you bring up issues immediately. It seemed to me that the owner or chef just doesn't care. Needless to say we now take our dining $$ somewhere else where it is appreciated. read more

Wonderful food and service! We enjoy the bar as well as a sit down dinner. Never had a bad meal or appetizer! Service is always great! My husband and I went to a children's play and came in about ten past the kitchen closing. We were so hungry! The waitress asked the chef if we could have a dinner and we were served!! On first visit to Adelle's had whitefish, large portion, but have had better. My date had potroast, pronounced "great" but unidentified square veggies with it. This past Saturday was our anniversary, and we couldn't think of a better place to celebrate than Adelle's. We weren't disappointed. From checking our coats, thru appetizers, entrees and dessert, everything was perfect. The restaurant was busy, yet we never felt rushed, nor did the timing of the courses suffer. Our server was very attentive and helpful, the food was amazing and the small dining area next to the bar was intimate and comfortable. Quite often we will stop by on Thursday nights for jazz and appetizers or small plates, but Saturday night reminded us why Adelle's continues to be our favorite dining choice. If you live in Wheaton, Naperville or western suburbs and haven't been to Adelles, you are missing out. The menu offers a wide array for just about anyone.. some favorites were Duck confit gnocchi, beet salad, fish tacos, Mahi Mahi special was amazing, just to name a few. I personally have not been disappointed by anything. The atmosphere is perfect, and John is a great waiter. Size portions for small plate appetizers was impressive. I also held a bridal shower there on a Saturday afternoon (they are closed for lunch, but host private events) - WOW, was everyone impressed. Adelles would be a great place for a daytime family party, baby or bridal shower, communion, christening, - the space is great, service was PERFECT and every guest raved about the food. read more

Not sure what her issue is but not focused on service. Adelle's is a symphony of wonderful and delicious. What a hidden jewel in the western suburbs. I have had many meals here and have NEVER been disappointed. The chef is truly remarkable and highly skilled. Even if I read a menu description of a featured dish and don't really like one or two of the ingredients, I trust this chef to make me change my mind. He does every time! I have become more open to tryng new dishes because the flavors and nuances of his cooking skills and creativity is truly phenomenal. Finally ate here for the first time last night and was pleased. Started with the field greens salad with pine nuts, balsamic vinaigrette and a crusty puck of gorgonzola (had to be there), which was fine. Moved on to the hangar steak with spinach and pommes frites--one of my favorite bistro dishes that did not disappoint. Was cooked accurately to medium rare. Decent wine list by the glass. The room is warm and nicely appointed, though loud in light of the ceramic tile floors. Maybe some more items on the walls to deaden the sound would help. In any case, a very good neighborhood restaurant that I would highly recommend for locals. We need more places like this. read more

Beautiful decor. Hostess very friendly and helpful. Waitress friendly and knowledgeable about food items and their preperation. Good variety of food combinations on regular menu and specials. The food flavor is why this not a five star commentary. Lobster Bisque was thin - not creamy. There were no pieces of lobster in the bisque. Chef should go to McCormick & Schmick on Butterfield Road to taste a creamy Lobster Bisque with a small mound of lobster ($11). The Halibut with potato wrap was cooked fine yet, it got to be boreing. No flavorable glaze or sauce. On Valentine's day the food was great. I was anxious to come back and planned on comming at least once a month. But after this experience, I will wait awhile. I can say that the service we had was spectacular. The atmosphere was cozy and not so fast pasted like other restaurants. The menu was awesome, having the ability to change side orders for the entrees was especially pleasing. Finished the night off with a slice of Red Velvet Cheesecake, it was the right texture, great flavor and enjoyed by both of us. Absolutely fantastic food, service and atmosphere. I would give this place 6 stars if I could. Their menu changes based on foods in season. It is one of the only places I know that tries to serve local, in season food, or at least sustainable if not. For example, hey so not buy endangered fish not do they buy from the big fisheries, but real fisherman instead. As a vegetarian this means a lot to me. The other three eaters at the table are meat eaters and all loved their meals. We all agreed it is one of he best restaurants we have tried in years, and they eat out all the time in Chicago and Naples, FL. I was excited by how many vegetarian options were available, and almost everything on the menu was very creative and original. I loved the portabella fries and the two salads I tried. Cannot overstate how much I loved it. Oh and the beer, wine and cocktails menus are very well thought out. I love beer and the options they have here are fantastic and creative as well. Way to go Adelles. Thank you for offering something different and tasty. And thank you for putting options on your menu at all price points. A "small plate" is $7-10, and could easily be a meal at least for me. We did not go cheap on our meal here, but a $15/person bill could be achieved here if you wanted. let me start off by saying my wife and I have seen this Restaurant and have wanted to try it as we are from the area , we went in today around 5:30 pm and it was very slow , 2 tables in the dinning room and 3 tables on the patio , we looked over the menu and not a lot caught our eye , . 10 minutes went by and the waitress decided to join us we asked for water and for a coffee , the coffee tasted like it was Instant coffee and the stained cup looked like they have had it for 20 years , the table cloth on the patio table looked like something you would see on a back porch at your grandmothers house . so that being said we decided to order the lamb chops and risotto.......now the lamb was over cooked and looked dry and a gray color like it was boiled and tossed on the grill for a grill mark and there was no flavor at all , the risotto wasn't much better clumpy and nasty , and the service took for ever we even put a order in for the Mushroom soup the waitress was telling us how GOOOOOOD it was Seriously it tasted like it came out of a Campbells soup can ..... and the server slaps it down on the table like he hated his job , this Place to be hones needs a facelift and a new chef or new menu ...from what I seen of the salads the looked very week and the presentation on the dishes I seen come out and ours looked very bad , at the prices they charge they should try to do much better . we will not be returning to this place for sure read more

OK, 4 1/2 stars would be more accurate, but Yelp does not give that option. We used to eat at adelle , but this is our first visit at this newer and enlarged location. We'll be back. We pretty much ordered from the dinner specials, so our dishes may not be available every day. To start with, I ordered a chilled cantaloupe gazpacho and my wife ordered the cream of carrot-coconut-curry soup. Both were very good. My wife complained that her soup was too spicy, but I cannot deduct for that because I LOVE spicy food and it fit my taste very well (I finished her soup gladly) For the main dish I ordered the Pan Roasted Panko Citrus Crusted Pacific rockfish and my wife ordered Penne Pasta "fruit de mer". Excellent!!! In good food, "The Secret is in the Sauce" and in both cases that turned out to be true. For desert, we had dark chocolate mouse. It was a little too sweet but not disappointing. Our server, John, was very polite and attentive. The only disappointment was the Cappuccino. It felt more like regular coffee with foam. Went with family last Saturday night. Looked over the menu on-line and checked out Yelp before the visit. The pork schnitzel caught my eye, but several reviews kind of panned it. Several reviews also criticized the hostesses and servers. Our experience was totally opposite. Seated promptly by hostesses with smiles on their faces (good to see people who are happy doing their jobs), and had attentive service throughout the evening. The server was excellent. Knowledgeable, engaging, patient. Appetizers were the Thai lobster spring rolls and the tempura green beans. Both very good. Wedge salad, Caesar salad and a couple of cream of leak soups were quite tasty. For entrees, we had a filet (done very nicely for a medium well request), the penne seafood pasta, one of the fish dishes on special and the gnocchi. I asked about the schnitzel. The server said she was surprised by the poor reviews and promised that it was delicious. Boy was she right! An owner or manager stopped by the table and seemed very sincere in asking how our dining experience was. Always appreciate that touch. A friendly, "Thank you for coming. Hope to see you again." completed the enjoyable evening for us. We'll be back. read more
