I was in search for a baby size Ao Dai and called Adam's Tailoring to see if they had any in stock. The woman on the phone was very polite and placed me on a brief hold to double check. After placing me on hold she told me there was one in stock and offered to hold it for me. I made the trip to Seattle (I'm coming from Auburn) that same day to pick it up and found out it was slightly too large for my 6 month old. She offered to tailor it for me but I told her I would need it by tomorrow for Tet. Although hesitant (I could tell she was swamped), she agreed to have it ready by the next day BUT ended up finishing it the same day. 1 Star for customer service. I've given this place a lot of business doing simple hems and alterations and they do fine work but they wouldn't help me out when they made a mistake. I told them to put in a patch to line a back pocket of some jeans and instead they only patched a small area. I brought the pants back and they refused to do what I had actually asked for, saying I'd have to pay the full price for the new patch. Would bargain or help me out saying it was a miscommunication. The ticket only said "patch back pocket," so maybe they should have been clearer in the ticket? I know what I asked for and even talked to the person at the front again. No loyal customer wants to be treated like a liar, and it would have gone a long way to just correct the mistake. I'm a small business owner and I know that even we make mistakes. It's not the end of the world to own up to them and make the customer feel like they are spending their money in the right place. Over this past summer, I was a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding. I had bought the dress online, but it needed alterations. My brother gave rave reviews of Adam Tailoring from getting his suits tailored, especially at this location, so I decided to come here to get my dress altered. You don't need to make an appointment, you can drop in anytime. Parking is quite hard to find sometimes-there is only a couple street parking spots in front, and it's next to a church, so it can get busy sometimes. There is parking in the neighborhood around the corner. The shop is crowded with ao dais and fabrics to choose from. They have like 2 changing rooms in the back. It usually takes about a week for the alterations to be completed. When I did come back, they weren't quite finished with the dress, so I had to come back in an hour. The dress fitted perfectly. The price wasn't too bad either. I would recommend this place if you're looking for a place to get alterations. read more

Go here. They're cheap, quick, and they do great work. I took in a dress that needed to have the straps shortened. It was only $12 and the dress fits me perfectly now. Adam Tailoring is tucked away in a random house on Rainier...blink and you might accidentally drive past it. Just know that if you hit the funeral home, you've gone too far. Even though the location is a little awkward, I'll definitely be coming back here for all my tailoring needs. YES, the place is packed with dresses, but they also have two legit dressing rooms (you know, with actual doors instead of curtains) which I really appreciate. I needed some alterations done, and took my suit jackets and pants here on the recommendation of a friend. These ladies are awesome! They totally 'get it.' Several tailors have tried to talk me out of certain alterations saying 'you won't be comfortable if it's that tight...' etc. Well I'm not a 300 pound banker in a pinstripe suit, I'm a young guy who likes tailored clothing with a slim fit. They took in several jackets and even an overcoat with a thick lining, and all of the changes were perfect the first time. They especially did a fantastic job on some selvedge jeans that were slightly too baggy, I wanted the legs tapered and they were able to get a great fit without altering the selvedge (outside) seams, they took the legs in from the inside seam! Long story short, don't be afraid to take your nice tailored clothes in here to get the fit you want. I was pretty amazed with their work, and it's all very reasonably priced. Once again -- Thank-you, Yelpers! I needed a bridesmaid dress altered in a very short time frame (one week!), so I scoured through Yelp to find the top rated tailors in the area. Some did not respond, some refused to take any bridesmaid dresses because they could get more money for wedding dresses, and some were simply far too expensive. Not Adam Tailoring & Alterations. $40 for a hem, bust area reduction, and altered belt! Others were quoting me close to or above $100! Such friendly service and great work done on the dress - exactly what we discussed. I forgot to call and check, but I came in after 3:30 on the day it was set to be done like they told me and it was ready to go. I am so pleased with my experience here! I can't believe people would take off stars for the fact that their store is full of dresses and clothes to be altered. They also sell off the rack Ao Dai dresses as well as custom made dresses, so that takes up part of their storefront. The rest is full because they are busy - and justly so! Both times I was in, they were very busy, but after a few minute's wait, I was able to try the dress on and receive personal and friendly attention. Also: Parking was street parking (hey, this is Seattle) and a small lot and not a problem at all. Have been going to this place for years now, starting back when I used to live right around the corner in the Mt. Baker neighborhood. Even after moving a bit farther north, I've continued to come back here for the quick turnaround time, great prices, and quality work. It definitely helps that it's not far from where I work. Anyway, today I went in to drop off a garment for a small stitching job. Expecting to come back and pick it up later today or tomorrow for a couple bucks, the gal stopped what she was doing, stitched it up on the spot and handed it back to me moments later for no cost. At all! Great customer service and perhaps a small gesture, as it was just a quick fix, but definitely something I will remember and keep in mind next time I need a tailoring job (big or small). I made the mistake of ordering a qiaopo from a Chinese online store. It's for my wedding so of course I ordered a red/gold dress. It got here over a week late and was completely the WRONG color. Wtf am I supposed to do with a black dress for a Chinese wedding?! The ladies here at Adam Tailoring are sooooooooo unbelievably nice. They pulled out everything for me to try and did on the spot alteration so I can try them all on. Got 3 pairs of jeans hemmed here in just under a week for $30. They were very professional and friendly (all ladies and all super sweet), and they did a bang up job, especially on my R13s, which i was nervous to have any joe blow mess with. Anyways, I'm super happy with the results and will be using them for future alterations. There is plenty of street parking and it's an easy location to get to. There are a lot of dresses in the shop and it is a small space, but that didn't bother me - they have dressing rooms with actual doors and lights, and orders are arranged by last name on a rack. The other things that I appreciated was that they talked me out of an original hem on a pair of skinnies (saving me money!) because they thought the leg would end up being too tiny. This review is waaay overdo! I had an amazing experience at Adam's for my wedding. Everyone was friendly and super helpful. And their pricing is also amazing. I had all of my bridesmaids Ao Dai custom made here, they all looked great in it! I also had my wedding dress hemmed here, and I don't know how she did it because there was a ton of beads and lace at the bottom but once she was done you couldn't even tell. Not to mention I picked up my dress and ao dai 2 days before the wedding at 11pm! I felt so bad but apparently they work around the clock during wedding seasons! After reading others' reviews, I thought I would give Adam Tailoring a try, and they definitely did not disappoint! The shop is in a tiny house on Rainier Avenue just before the Landmark District. After plowing through racks and racks and racks of Vietnamese dresses and a wedding gown or two, I found Phong. I handed my pants to Phong and asked her to patch the hole and reinforce the seam near the hole. I fully expected her to say that it wasn't worth doing or that it would be an expensive repair. Instead, she said no problem and jotted my info on a Post-It (no receipt for me). Based on other reviews, I specifically asked if they could be done four days later. I called before I went to pick them up and was told they'd be ready, but when I showed up they weren't. She asked me to wait while she finished the job. She thought the seams might cause me more trouble in the future, so she reinforced all the in-seams. Total charge for the whole repair: $3.00. Quality: Outstanding! As you walk through the door you will definitely notice the clutter of all the various Vietnamese traditional dresses and clothes they offer or were altering but don't let the clutterness throw you off. I was recommended this tailor from a coworker and decided to check them out. I got two pairs of jeans hemmed here. The workers were very nice and sweet. They just instructed I go into the fitting room put on the pants and have them measure how much I wanted to get taken off. This process was quick and easy, I was in and out within 10 min. They have given me a pickup date of about a week later. When I came back I was asked to try the pants on to make sure they were to my fitting which they were. Although I had to wait for the fitting rooms to clear up because they were really busy, they were really nice in just making sure I was ok. The price of of the alterations were super cheap about $10 per pair of pants for hemming. I would definitely recommend this place to other people. read more

I'm VERY impressed by the service and pricing I received. Took 4 pairs of pants with varying degrees of difficulty (no lining, though), $8/ea. They told me a week at the time I dropped off the pants, but 1 week came around and someone called to ask when I would pick up the pants (as two pairs weren't completed yet). I was impressed that they called, since other less expensive places I've been to wouldn't even bother. Of course, being someone that lives in China part-time, $8/ea is tremendous compared to the $0.63/ea I can get in China. But Adam is probably one of the cheaper and more professional tailors around. She's fine if you're not in a hurry to wear something, but if you MUST have it for an event, I'd say make sure you're scheduled to get it back with at least a week to spare! I've gone to have pants hemmed - simple enough right? 1) I needed pants for Sunday, so I cut it close by scheduling to pick them up Saturday night - BIG MISTAKE! She told me they'd be ready by 6:00p, but to not be late. I arrive at 5:50 . . . but she's closed! WHAT!?! I call and call, and I needed the pants for the next day. Turns out she took her kids to Family Fun Center! HEY, if you say be here no later than 6:00, 5:50 is not later than 6:00! 2) I decided to give her one more try - she tells me on another occasion that my pants would be ready by a certain day and time. I arrive, and to her surprise that I'm there . . . and instead of just saying they're not ready yet, she just tells me to GO OUT AND WAIT IN MY CAR! WTF?! So I wait in my car for 15 minutes and she comes out with my pants. Okay, with Viet places like these, I can understand that my pants are small-frye as their main business is with wedding dresses, gowns, etc., but YOU ACCEPT MY MONEY! This place is amazing. The best service I could ever imagine. I came here to alter 4 wedding dresses, and each one looked amazing. Another alternation shop charged me the same price for only 1 dress. They were so patient and did everything they could to make each adjustment just perfect. I'm such a perfectionist and they never hesitated to help me get the exact look. This place rocks! I went in last week with five items, from shirts to shorts.. and asked them to take everything in a couple inches. They told me it would be ready in one week.. when i went to pick it up the day they had told me, they were actually just getting to my clothes; however they offered to drop them off at my house once they were done (that same day) and gave me a discount for the inconvenience! Not to mention their work was fabulous! you can barely tell that my clothing had been altered, they look exactly like before (but smaller!). And for a very reasonable price, only $40!! read more

This place have been my savior for the last 3 years. When I lost some weight a couple years ago I brought in all of my favorite clothes and had them take everything in. Everything fit me perfectly, better than when I originally purchased them, after they were finished. A few times I have brought in a large number of items and told them that I am not in a big hurry to get them back. The turnaround time on these items was a few weeks. But any time I have told them that I need something tailored by a certain day they will work hard to get it done for me. One time they even drove a dress to my house in the evening because it had taken longer than they thought it would and I needed it by the next day. These ladies are the best! On top of all that you won't find a less expensive place for getting your pants hemmed. So glad my co-worker recommended Adams to me a few years ago! read more

The shop is really small and really cramped. Parking is also really hard as there is no lot or even back lot. My wedding dress turned out beautifully. The length is perfect, and they cut out a few layers so it's much easier to walk in. However...some communication barriers here. I was given my pink slip and pickup date. I returned only to find out it wasn't ready and they needed to measure a layer again. No one called me to let me know I needed to come back. It was inconvenient making multiple trips considering I don't live very close. read more

This shop is a little bit cramped, but they have a lot of ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dresses) ready for you to choose from. They have two actual fitting rooms in the back where you can try on whatever you want. The girls there are super friendly, and they take Visa/Master credit/debit cards (surprising!). I took my mother-in-law there to get her an ao dai for my wedding. We got a nice one for $85 including matching pants and some pant alterations. They also alter wedding gowns for such good prices. The owner lady (Phung) told me she charges about $100 - 150 per wedding gown, which is very cheap compared to my alteration price tag in northern Seattle. I wasn't sure if they are familiar with wedding gown alterations, but on my way out I saw Sue Wong and other designer wedding gowns waiting for alterations, so I guess they are trusted. Darn I should have brought my wedding gown there instead! Kicking myself. They are so sweet that they even offer to bring the dress and pants to their Chinatown location where I can pick them up more conveniently in 1 week. Highly recommended for friendly customer service and affordable prices. read more

I recently moved to Renton and found a tailor a few minutes from home...but when she was going to charge me $50 to hem two inches off of my dress, I just couldn't do it - not even for the convenience of proximity. So I went back to trusty Adam Tailoring and was charged $30 for the hemming AND to have bra cups sewn into the dress. Without the cups, I would've been charged only $20. read more

Short Story: I needed to get a bridesmaid dress tailored. I took it to a small shop close to my house and was quoted $165 to have it hemmed, taken in and the halter strap adjusted. Woah! Maybe that's the going rate for these things but that was more than the dress and I wasn't even thrilled about the dress in the first place. After lamenting about this to my good friend, who also needed her dress tailored, she introduced me to Adam Tailoring. I literally drove back to the first tailor, took my dress, and drove it to Adam Tailor instead. I am sooooo glad I did! For a fraction of the previous price quote they did all the above work and it looked fantastic. The work was great quality and the gals are all super nice. Adam Tailoring is truly a diamond in the rough. I am in customer service and I am Vietnamese, two factors when put together was never high in expectations for me. However, Adam Tailoring has exceptional service compared to any I have experienced in a lifetime. All the ladies there remembered me from the get go and so I felt like a regular customer after just one visit. Their prices are way too good to pass up. I am a new lifetime customer and have no problem bringing in EVERYTHING I want to alter. Before I would just wait until I went home to HI (I live in Seattle) and had my mom alter everything because of my apprehension with prices from other places. I did have one hiccup, they did not have my first custom made ao dai dress ready when they said it would be. But they went above and beyond to compensate and dropped the dress to my house (I was flying to HI the next day). So I still give them 5 stars. I LOVE this place! Where else can you get a beautiful qipao/cheongsam + alterations for $50 with a 1-2 week turnaround? I can't think of any other place! The qipao is ordered and then altered to your measurements. It is made of a beautiful material and does not look cheesy like the ones girls tend to wear on Halloween. They will also custom make you a qipao for a little bit extra, but you can bring in your own fabric and voila! They also have a huge selection of Vietnamese dresses on hand ranging in different colors and sizes. This was a great find! I actually learned about it from another friend who got married. I debated keeping it a secret so I could squeeze in all my engaged friends for a fitting before it got busy but I couldn't contain myself! This place is that AMAZING. I ordered a dress too small by accident for NYE and was looking for a shop near home to possibly let it out a little bit at the hips. I walked into Adam's and it was just as I imagined -- messy, cramped, and a little claustrophobic. I didn't have an issue with it though; reminds me of my mom's living room lol. There are a number of seamstresses that work here and the OG lady came to talk to me and told me there wasn't much to do and to order a bigger size so she could take it in. I did just that and asked if 5 days would be enough time for them to fix it. She was a little reluctant but said yes. I came back in on the 30th and the dress was very lumpy. It turns out that someone else tried taking it in but didn't do a very good job. OG tried doing it herself and it was better but still lumpy. They asked me to come back a 3rd time on New Year's Eve day even though I would be working past their closing time. Fast forward to the next day, I tried it on and it still wasn't perfect and I could tell that she wasn't happy with it either, but I wasn't picky and was totally fine with how it turned out. As I walked up to the counter to pay, another girl, I'm assuming the daughter, told me I didn't have to pay for the $20 service. I insisted for the additional work they had to do but they refused to take my money. I have no doubt in my mind they would have done a perfect job if there was ample time. I arrived at the designated time 6 days later and to my surprise they could not Find my pants and were scrambling to find them. They ended up telling me that they are at one of the employees home and they were not even done. Then I had to wait at the store until they drove home and got my pants. This place was great. I needed to have a satin dress hemmed for a wedding I was attending. A straight hem seems pretty easy, but the satin material and the lining underneath could have ran up the cost of altering. Well, it might have somewhere else. They were very reasonable and the work was done quickly. I dropped my dress off on a Sat morning, asked for it to be done by Wed night. A few days and $10 later, my dress was hemmed perfectly. This place has terrible customer service. I came in 3 weeks ago and bought an ao dai. Asked them to make ao dai pants for me and they said it will be ready by Fri (2 weeks later). I came back on Friday for them to tell me they haven't even started on it yet. I was kind of upset but thought they deserved another chance. However, they didnt even apologize. Then, they told me to come back four days later and it will be ready FOR SURE. It's now Tuesday and I gave them a phone call, they told me it's not done yet?? And put me on hold for a long time. Not only that, but they told me their credit card machine was "broken" so I can pay them cash when the machine looked fine to me. Keep in mind ao dais aren't cheap, & I paid them up front. Makes me think they only cared about my $, and now they are taking their time making my pants. I would rather pay more money at an american business to avoid the stress and inconvience. But unfortunately, there are no other places that makes ao dai pants around the area. Horrible horrible service. Will not be coming back here. read more
