It took me a few years to find Dr. Bedrood, and I can say unequivocally that she is the best Glaucoma doctor I have ever been to! She is always calm, kind, supportive, respectful, non-alarmist, and polite. She never talks down to a patient and is truly gifted in explaining difficult concepts and issues in a very cogent and comprehensible way. She also runs the best medical office that I have ever been to. Everyone who works for her is like her in that they feel a true calling to help people. By the time you see a Glaucoma specialist, most people are anxious and nervous. When you walk into her office each and every person you encounter is so considerate, helpful, and truly goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at ease. They understand that patients are usually tense and worried, and everyone at this office is dedicated to making the experience as easy and serene as possible. The office manager, Karla, should be on a training video for doctors teaching them how to run an office. She is always available to help with a problem, has the sweetest demeanor, and has truly amazing problem-solving skills. It is clear that she has a genuine desire to help people. Gracie and all the other women at the front desk are so welcoming, and also very helpful when you call. George and all of the people who give the difficult Visual Field tests know how to make a patient feel calm and relaxed. I wish I could remember everyone's name because each person I have encountered in this office has done so much to help me and given me the gift of feeling valued and truly cared for as a patient. Great doctors yes but when it comes to scheduling surgery they do things BACKWARDS. Never have I been told we cannot even assure you of the date we give you. We show the first opening BUT once we put your name in we then seek approval of your insurance company and 5-10 days BEFORE the date picked we notify you IF you can have it at that date or some later date. This is a first, have had several surgeries in my life and always a date is set, only the time is not set till the day before. Who in their right mind would accept NOT KNOWING FOR SURE THE DATE GIVEN IS GOING TO BE OR NOT GOING TO BE THE DATE OF SURGERY? NOT ME, I NEED TO KNOW SO PLANS CAN BE MADE. read more

I went in to have one of my eyes checked, specifically my retina. My appointment was with Dr. Bedrood. Irlt was my 1st time seeing her, after I had been to my optometrist, and a retina specialist. I really like her, she took her time, answered all of questions and fears. She was very approachable and was kind in being patient with me as she had to use a very bright light on my eyes. Kind of freaked me out but she was gracious and non-judgemental. Prior to Dr. Bedrood coming into the exam room her assistant came in. I had somewhat of a hard time understanding her and she was the complete opposite of Dr. Bedrood. She wasn't patient, I felt rushed with the exam and I had to ask her questions as she didn't offer any information. If it was only her I saw, then I would have given 1 star. Dr. Bedrood is an amazing doctor, and her assistant could learn much from her. The facility is clean. Their nurse/techs are kind and answer most of your questions, if they don't know they will find out for you or instruct you to bring it up with the doctor. I'm glad my insurance provider has this eye group in their network. read more

I was charged 45.00 for my co pay, which is normal, but then they sent me to a wrong specialist and that said specialist just referred me to another specialist the next day and so I told Kathy the office person that I will come back next day but they should not charge me once again another 45.00 bec. there had been a mistake when she made the appt. she said she will talk to Krisel the off. mgr., next day, spoke to Krisel and she said "it is illegal that I won't be charged the co pay, since I saw the doctor" really? that's a thing? there's a law? (even though it was the wrong doctor and he only saw me for less than a minute) she even told Kathy the off mgr. that, that is a learning experience for them, LOL, and I said at my expense??? they went ahead and still charged me, oh wow!! I emailed the company and no one bothered to respond to my email, so I am not going back, instead I went to EYE SPECIALIST IN 2619 COLORADO BL. PASADENA, they did not even charge me, all thru my insurance...btw, I disputed the charged thru my AmEx and credited the charged!!! read more

I love the doctors here, but the rotating training staff is really hit or miss. I wish that patients were able to see the same technicians on a regular basis. Some of these folks are more competent than others. So, if you love your doctor as I do, and you need to keep coming back on a regular basis, just be prepared for the lack of continuity. read more

She was absolutely wonderful in the way she treated me for my narrow angle glaucoma. She knew exactly where to place the holes so as not to cause any negative side effects. I highly recommend her!! This operation is lacking in staff skills and consideration of patients' time. Even though I supplied my parent's medicare card one week before the appointment and all necessary information, which they had requested to be able to confirm preauthorization, and even though upon second calling, I was told all was clear with his coverage, and even though my parent's regular specialist in VA had contacted their office with even additional information, once we arrived (thirty minutes early to assure being seen in a timely manner), we had to wait another hour and forty minutes while they apparently only then checked for authorization. Then they told us, that his medicare was contracted to an HMO and they dont' accept that HMO and that the visit would now be over $500. When I reminded the front lady that I had provided all this information over a week ago and had been confirmed that all was ok, she simply said that "oh probably when they called medicare, they just got the automated system and didn't check back". I am a professional myself, and the three hours I wasted in getting there and waiting there is worth more than $500. Shame on the staff and on the doctors who don't have sufficient supervision to assure responsible and consciencious service. read more

Due to a retina detachment, I have been going to the Retina Institute in Pasadena for nearly 5 years. When I met Dr. Chang about my detached retina, surgery was immediately scheduled for the next day. Dr. Michael Davis performed superb surgery on my detached retina and since January 2011 I have not had any problems with my retina. The expertise and knowledge of the medical staff is phenomenal when one reads about all their accomplishments. A professional and yet caring place! read more

The level of health care service here is horrible and inhumane. My poor son came here for help but Dr. Lin messed up my son's eye sight. She performed a surgery to attach the retina back up but she did not. She was not remorseful at all and would not admit to her mistake. In fact, she was very defensive the whole time and blamed my son's retina for being too thin! Her defense was that she was just an employee of Dr. Chan and would have to charge us again for another surgery less than 3 months after the 1st. Basically she wanted to keep her job. Then, after many calls to reschedule a second surgery, the surgery scheduler in Pomona, I forgot her name, said the doctor's attempt at a second surgery were null and void "because doctors are not allowed to make deals with patients". No compassion whatsoever. My son sat there with his retina rotting away for weeks waiting for a phone call but to no avail. By then it was too late. Now my son has a hole in his face thanks to this place. read more

today was a day of learning.... learning one thing ''i finaly found the right doctor for my eyes doctor tom chang, from acuity eye group. i wish we can find the right doctor with out going to the wrong places and going trought pain, insecurity, lack of comunication, anxiety and after all of this find out today that none of this other ''doctors'' really help me, instead i have to go trought painful injections and streesfull doctors. i highly recomend this acuity eye group. they did not pay me to write this. this is my own opinion and i wish you do not have to go trought the same dificult times as i had for the last 4 months. doctor t. chang have an excelent team and the best technology that there is today. i have read and documented my self about my eyes and now i can tell you this is the place for me. beautiful building, everybody friendly, bilingual, proffesional and i no longer have that horrible insecurity and fear of the unknown. no more asking questions to the doctors.... ana read more

Dr. Chang is not only an excellent Dr. that doesn't "over doctor" but runs an efficient office that has a goal of no more than an hour per visit. I came here from Iowa and was in the middle of a series of eye injections. The last time I had this I went months receiving monthly injections. Dr. Chang took a picture and preferred to keep a monthly eye on it rather than injections. I preferred this also and so does my insurance. Not only does he provide excellent services, he has an outreach office in Pomona so it will be so much closer next month for me. Highly recommend this doctor and his office staff!!!! read more
