DO NOT SEE "Dr." Kim the optometrist, her and the woman in charge of billing on that side of the office are complete scam artists. Actually they are really bad at it, so I take the artist part back, they are simply scammers. Came here to see the ophthalmologist and they were great, went back to see the"other side," and it was like crossing over to hell. They made a big stink about me not having insurance, I do, they wouldn't give me my prescriptions, instead they told me to come back for a "fitting," and in the meantime they'd solve the insurance question. I've been wearing the same brand of contacts for a very long time, so I don't need a fitting, but I was a new patient so I acquiesced. The day of my appointment I called to make sure everything was good to go before I went in, and was told my insurance does not cover the exam for contacts, so I owed them $110. I told them they were completely misinformed, and offered to contact the insurance company myself, on their behalf. I also, let them know I wouldn't be coming back. They said they needed to look into it, and would call. When they did they told me to please come in, and offered me what they said would be many free contact lens samples. I let them know I didn't need anything free, and just needed my prescriptions. They told me to please come in, they'd have my prescriptions, and that the two appointments for my exam/fitting would cost $52 billed to VSP. I informed them I would not be buying any glasses/contacts from them, due to the strained nature of our interactions. I was assured that was not an issue. When I got there they informed me I would not get my prescriptions, or be seen by "the doctor," unless I bought contacts/glasses from them, reiterating the exam was $110. Every person I spoke with kept asking me, "what happened," which I found rather bizarre. How would I know what was going on with their disfunction? I phoned my insurance from their offices, afterward they reiterated what they had previously promised over the phone: a $10 dollar co-pay, my prescriptions, a fitting by Kim, and a bill sent to VSP insurance in the amount of $52. When I saw Kim, she asked me, "what happened?" It was a like a strange gas-lighting, but to what end? She like the woman who does their billing, sorry I can't remember her name, claimed to have free lens samples over the phone. Kim said, she would meet me at the front desk with lens samples. She never did, and I never received any samples after being promised them by both of them that day, which is absolutely 100% okay, I just find it bizarre that they kept offering them, with no follow through. Was this some kind of poorly thought out bait and switch. I did receive my prescriptions that day, and a much less friendly attitude from the lady who does the billing after claiming over the phone, she just wanted to make me happy. I found it all so very strange. All the assistants, and front desk people were very nice, and professional. And I would never have written this review, despite that experience, if it was not for what came next. I called my insurance company weeks later, and was told nothing had been filed yet. No problem, I figured I would just have to check closer to the end of they year so I could seize my benefits before they roll over for the new calendar year, just in case. What happened next is why I am posting this, Drumroll please: I got a bill in the mail for a fitting in the amount of $110. Here's the kicker, the day I returned for this so called, "fitting," Kim looked at my eyes, zero times. Told me to try on some contacts, zero times. Carried out any kind of exam/fitting, zero times. Did anything related to my eyes, zero times. What fitting? Clearly they said whatever they needed to say to get me to come back into their offices, so they could apply some pressure to get me to buy glasses/contacts from them, and/or pay them $110. I understood that by the time I left that day, but I just let it go. I don't know why they thought such brazen tactics would work. Does it work on others? Are there people who would have caved and paid, people who could be talked into what is surely inflated prices on their contacts/glasses? Stay away! At best they are just unorganized, and clueless! However it could be much darker than that, they could be preying on a predominately older population, some of whom have a foreign mother tongue, which makes them even more vulnerable. My heart breaks for those people, who I doubt can afford it, but who don't know any better, when confused by their nonsense. Please don't be bullied by them like they are trying to do with me, just know this place is a weak SCAM and STAY AWAY! read more
