I am an…read moreAirline Pilot with over 37 years of airline experience and require an eye test due to occasional elevated eye pressure, termed "Pre-Glaucoma". The FAA requires pilots have a physical exam at prescribed intervals based on the type of pilot certification held. Because I am a Captain for a major airline, it has to be every six months. Once a year I have to provide test results based on the prescribed elements of my medical certification. Every year, Dr. Murthy puts me at ease with his wonderful bedside manner and his own personal knowledge of the system since he is an advanced pilot himself with actual jet experience. Thanks to his very thorough care and excellent staff, I have satisfied the FAA with flying colors on my tests. I take one eye drop at night based on his orders and it is doing the trick! My pressures are well within the FAA's guidelines along with my field of vision tests. I was so impressed with his care that I sent my wife to him and he put her at ease regarding her concerns about her vision after a thorough exam. Salute to Dr. Murthy and a Bravo Zulu as well@!

Dr. Murthy discovered something that two other retina specialists had not mentioned to me. I understand why one of them might not have, as he performed my vitrectomy pars plana surgery. I was unaware that a layer had been left behind during the surgery. Recently, I noticed a very unusual brownish floater. Fortunately, whatever was obstructing my vision disappeared the following day. Given that my surgeon did not remove that particular layer, there is a possibility of a detachment. I am now contemplating whether this was intentionally overlooked, potentially necessitating another surgical procedure. I am very grateful that Dr. Murthy came highly recommended by my husband's best friend.

She was checking with specialist colleagues about what she was seeing. Appreciate that she took that level of attention to get a better understanding of what was happening. She gave us a note to take to the ER and she spoke to our PCP who fortunately expedited care with other providers so we didn't have to go to the ER. She explained the seriousness of the situation in a calm and clear manner and gave us and understanding of the steps we must follow with other providers to see where the stroke originated. Then when complications (including a trip to the ER) set in and months without much progress, he blamed me, refused to listen, and said over and over "give it more time." He kept defending himself until finally when I told him I still couldn't see clearly, he said simply, "Yes you can." He failed to take responsibility. When I asked for a refund, he just laughed and said he'd think about it. But he's never tried to contact me. J & J who makes the multifocals said the only way I can get a refund is if the original surgeon removes the lenses. Bottom line: Dr. Huang seems to care more about money than the well-being of his patients. He's a good surgeon--the lenses were put in correctly--but a second doctor I went to said he "undersells" the multifocals. Now my vision is worse than before (one good thing--I no longer have cataracts) but I had to buy new reading and distance glasses. I'm out $6,000 plus another $1,300 for new glasses. Plus the time and trouble, pain and annoyance. And Dr. Huang has disappeared.

So I'm left eye dominant which makes me a higher risk but Dr Melikian did an incredible job of being very thorough during my consultation, did lots of testing and made me feel very comfortable that I would be ok despite other doctors advising me not to do it. So I scheduled my procedure within two weeks and had both Doctors Youssefzadeh and Melikian day of surgery. They were so incredibly professional, fun and kind. I love their personalities!!!! I just want to to say that I'm SO happy that I followed through for the lasik procedure. I am one day post op and I CAN SEE!!!!! Overall recovery has been pretty easy and comfortable. Upon discovering the doc I went to previously are closed on Wednesdays -- I thankfully found this wonderful practice in nearby South Pas. I called around 11;30am same day fully prepared that they may not have availability on a moments notice, especially for a new patient. Mia was able to secure an appointment for a few hours later. Their office is in a very quaint building that has easy parking w/ many close conveniences that my husband took advantage of while waiting (USPS, Starbucks and Trader Joe's!). I was kindly greeted by their receptionist (sorry forgot her name). The intake by Noah was thoughtful and comprehensive. Dr Tsai was prompt, thorough and professional -- communicating clearly what the issue was and how it will be remedied in a way a normal person would understand! Unfortunately, my health and optical insurances were out of network but the out of pocket visit fee was reasonable. They were very forthright on this aspect prior to my appointment taking place which I appreciate. They offered to try it anyways but I declined since upfront was reasonable. Diagnosis was a small corneal ulcer! Could have got so much worse if I didn't go in when I did. Extremely grateful for the team here. Efficient, transparent, comfortable, knowledgeable, and caring. I guess I'm an established patient now! :)
