I chose Action Automotive because of the high ratings here on Yelp. Unfortunately, they tried to take me for a ride (pun intended) and I would like to suggest that all women to avoid this place, just to be safe. My brake fluid light had come on a few days ago, so I brought my car in at 8am on a Friday without an appointment. They were able to fit me in, which I appreciated, but after making an inspection, they told me the brakes on my Ford Focus needed to be replaced, as well as a brake fluid bleeding, at a cost of $729, and I should probably also do a steering wheel fluid flush, as well as replace the mounts for my engine, which had collapsed, at a cost of $500. Total cost for everything was $1300, and the printout indicated this was for PREMIUM parts. They didn't mention any lower-cost options, like using mid-grade parts or anything. I'm sorry, but this is a Ford Focus, a car worth maybe $4500. I'm not interested in PREMIUM PARTS. Plus, as a student, I certainly didn't have $729 at my disposal (though they did offer their credit option...). Because I straight up could not afford their price, I left with my car. Then on the advice of a friend, I took it somewhere else to get a second opinion. Turns out, my brakes are JUST FINE, with at least 50-60% left (which was kind of what I thought to begin with), and the brake fluid tested out fine as well. They did get it correct that the engine mounts have collapsed, but the more trustworthy mechanic I went to explained that it's not essential to get it fixed right now, and since I have very little money and no income right now, I've chosen to take care of it at a later date. It makes me mad that this kind of thing happens to me more often than not, and it made me even more upset to find out that I can't even trust Yelp anymore to find honest mechanics. I don't know exactly why I was the one taken for a ride, but if I had to guess, I'd say it's at least partly because I'm a female soon-to-be lawyer without a mechanical background. Regardless, that doesn't give car repair places an excuse to try and swindle me out of my student loan money so they can make a quick buck. Getting the news that I needed to spend $729 to make my car safe was beyond inexcusable and resulted in me having a pretty bad panic attack that day. Thanks, Action Automotive. read more

Came here today with pontiac sunfire issues and was blown away by the friendly & speedy service. The price was very reasonable, actually wayy cheaper (and days quicker) than what I was rudely/snobbishly quoted over at Shelby's on the phone for some electrical problems, (where I was headed until I did a little more research online). Very glad I did! This company even gave me a ride to and from my home to pick up my car, which I think was awesome of them to offer. All of the issues were resolved in a few hours and my car works great again for approx $150 total. Their employees know what they're doing. I'm beyond satisfied with the entire experience and I will be back here with any more car issues in the future. Finally found a place in Eugene I can trust with my car. Always ask your co-workers or family for recommendations before just trying a new place you Googled. I had a knocking noise most liking 1 of the 5 pullies. Brought my car to A.A and I was never told once I would be charged for a diagnoses. 2 hours later they said it was the serpentine belt and tensioner. They quoted me $540 to replace it. This was way out of my price range to fix the problem so I called around and talked to Glen at Mohawk Service Center, who was recommended to me by a co-worker. He quoted be half the price. Came and picked my car up at work and delivered back. But called after all was on and said the noise was still there and figured out that it was the alternator not the tensioner. so he did all that labor for free. We had car trouble out of town and saw that Action had good reviews and worked on Volvos. They also provide transportation which is awesome ride with a nice lady who works in the office. Had to take the wife's car in an emergency type situation, turned out it needed a new radiator along with some old hoses that also needed replacing. Asked them if it could be done quickly as the wife needs the car for to and from work. No problem, Done in a few hours, and the car is running great again! I was in the market for a car and I brought them two cars for a pre-purchase checkup. Both Craig and Bryan were wonderful. They saved me from buying a lemon. My 2012 VW Beetle's engine light went on last week. Finding a reliable automobile mechanic is a huge fear. I am a fish out of water relying on the knowledge of others to assist me. Google can only help so much and in this case made me feel worse. I was very grateful to have found Action Automotive. I brought my car right in as they had an immediate opening. They provide a shuttle service which was life saving. I received a call about the diagnosis and my car was finished the same day. They fixed what was wrong and didn't suggest buying, purchasing or services not needed. The price was very reasonable. Finding the right mechanic is like finding the right hairdresser. You have blind faith in that person to do the right thing. Not an easy feat. I highly recommend this business to others looking for someone to trust. read more

They said my alternator was bad and quoted me a price of $458.00 to rebuild it. I had already checked around and found most rebuild jobs to be around $100.00. Turns out the place they called to have it rebuilt I ended up calling and told me it was gonna be $115.00. That place is Shelby's Auto Electric and he is awesome. There are two bolts holding in my alternator, it takes me 3 minutes to remove. Also had a high idle and they tried selling me a $200.00 system cleaner. And my accelerator cable seems a fit soft they told me $258.00 to order and " rerout" the new cable. The cable price is 32.00 and installs in less than five minutes with two bolts. Needless to say I left owing 200.00 in diagnostic work, even though when I asked him if they checked the codes on the high idle he looked stunned and was like uhhhhhh yeah those codes don't tell us much. I doubt if they even checked but they charged me 80.00 to check even though big O tire does it for free. If someone didnt know better they would've been taken. I also find it odd how all of their reviews are 5 stars and that's probably because they have a reviewing agency runnig their reviews. Plus all their reviews are old, I'm very sceptical as to the legitimacy of some of the reviews. But they were nice if that counts for anything. Craig and company are courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful. I learned of Action Automotive when the person buying my car brought it to them to inspect, prior to purchase. They treated him respectfully and they did a thorough pre-purchase inspection for him. I bought a used car shortly thereafter and brought it to them to provide me with a pre-purchase inspection. Again, I was impressed. Prices seem to be fair and their ability and willingness to schedule customers in who have urgent needs is top notch.
