I was able only pay $241 for the service. And also they had an uber pick me up to take me home while they fixed my car. My 2006 Scion xB decided not to start. I had it towed over to Action Automotive to have it looked at. This car has over 300K miles on it and has been a faithful and reliable friend for nearly 20 years. I had just driven it from Southern CA to OR in March and it had zero issues. I always meticulously maintain my cars and when we left CA we were very sad and anxious to leave behind our amazing mechanic down there and try to find another one that was honest, fair-priced, friendly and understanding. Our CA mechanic told us to call him if anything arose with the car(s) and he would give us his opinion. I did and he listened over the phone and told me that it definitely had something to do with the fuel not getting to the engine. Fearing the worst, I thought it would be the fuel pump, which I likely wouldn't have repaired due to the cost, the age of the car and the mileage. A few hours after dropping off Harold (the car), Ben called me and told me the he was ready to be picked up and now started up just fine! He said that it was just the fuel relay switch. When I asked how much the total was I was very pleasantly surprised and rushed down to pick up me old friend and bring him back home. With a car this old and with so many miles on it things are bound to wear out but if I can get another year out of this car I'll be very happy! They could've told me it was the fuel pump or charged me more money but they didn't. In addition everyone there was very friendly, helpful and understanding. Charged the same as Honda dealer, but I got a NAPA aftermarket part they marked up 100% with one less year of warranty on it. Never responded to email complaints. Charged fraudulent $32 "environmental" fee they claimed Oregon requires but does not. Tried to charge another $400 just to rotate front rotors replace front brakes. read more

They didn't try to sell me more than I needed, didn't repair something that was still ok to use and were very thoughtful about the work they did to match my needs of only needing the car to get from point A to B. Here we are, months later with our Dodge Dakota not running due to negligence of your employee's and lack of accountability. We paid near $6000 TO HAVE the truck completely tuned up, unfortunately Action Automotive failed to discover a leak in the radiator, that caused the truck to repeatedly over heat. My husband was told "it's an air bubble," just drive it and it will release. Ok, he did just that and trusted that the quality of work performed was just an "air bubble" and drove it confidently several hundred miles. Then becoming stranded, after it overheated once again, resulting in a blown head gasket. Upon talking to the owner, a "good will" of fixing that radiator was to be completed. The radiator was not fixed, and the truck was towed to our home and is now parked in our grass. My husband is out $6000 worth of work because of negligence, and we are going to make it known to everyone we know how much we DO NOT recommend Action Automotive as a trustworthy company to complete a proper diagnostic ensuring you won't be out thousands of dollars, and left for dead. This experience has been unfortunate not only for our family but your business going forward. With that being said, a report will be made to the Better Business Bureau. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR TIME WASTED FOR MONTHS, and empty pockets to show for it! read more

I was in Eugene visiting my sister from California when my fuel tank failed. I called Action Automotive and spoke with Ben. He answered all of my questions very patiently and clearly which was very important to me because I'm no mechanic. He then sent me a written quote almost immediately and I decided to have the work done with them. I told Ben I needed to leave town on a certain date and he told me he was pretty sure they could get it done in time. But then the ice storm hit and the part they had ordered took much longer than expected to arrive. However, to my great relief and joy, the day it arrived they installed the whole thing and had it ready for me just in time. Later, when I thought there was an issue, Ben talked me through it. Asked for a Quote - They are FULL of BS I called and asked for a quote to have the brake pads replaced on an infiniti FX35. I said that I wanted brake pads only, and did not want calipers or any of the other things quoted. The guy quoted $250 to $300, which was right on the money. Then he continued with the BS. He said that rotors must almost always be done, blah blah, blah. Obviously, he did not listen to a word a said and handed me the typical up-sell to charge me for work that rarely actually needs to be done. I guess a lot of people fall for that BS, or they would not continue to try it. I told him I will go to the dealer and I hung up. read more

I can't express how wonderful my experience with Action Automotive was. I was looking into purchasing a used vehicle, and wanted to have a full pre-purchase inspection done uo on on a lift, before committing to any sale. After finding and test-driving a vehicle I liked, I was ready to book an inspection. I called Action and they were able to fit me in that very same morning. They clearly understood that time is of the essence when booking inspections, because the vehicle could technically sell on the lot at any moment. I scheduled for 10am that morning, but eventually had to push back the inspection by 30 minutes, since the car dealership I was looking at purchasing the car from had the wrong opening hours listed everywhere, and didn't actually open til 10 due to Covid. Action were completely understanding and were able to accommodate the inspection being pushed back 30 minutes, which I was really grateful for. The staff were extremely professional, courteous, and never once talked down at me. That might sound silly, but as a younger female who frankly, knows little about car mechanics, visiting anything auto-shop related has always left me on the verge of having a minor panic attack. That combined with the sexism I have experienced whilst car shopping, most often in the form of being ignored because the salesmen apologetically told me they just assumed I was "somebody's wife" (you can't make this stuff up, there isn't eyeroll big enough), has left me so wary of auto sales lots, repair garages etc. But the staff at Action were attentive, polite, and got the job done. I paid $111 for a pre-purchase inspection, and left a little over two hours later armed with the paperwork to negotiate a better price at the dealership. read more

These guys seemed nice enough, sure. But they fell short of my professional expectations. To start, they gave me a nice low quote of about $150 for a new transaxle seal, so after calling around to compare, I finally called back to set up an appointment and confirm the quote, which suddenly doubled. I questioned them on it, they said it was because they didn't realize my car was an automatic. I call them back later with an estimate from the next lowest repair shop (at $200), and Action tries to tell me that THEY gave me that estimate. I should have stopped right there and gone somewhere else, but I'm young and dumb, so we settled on $200. So they get the job done; great. I get the car back the next day, and the seal is still leaking. I take the car back in, they take a look and find that my car has an outer AND an inner seal, and they only changed the outer one which was apparently fine. Now they had to order a whole new seal package for the transaxle housing. I'm OK with the fact that it was expensive (tacked on another $200), and I'm almost OK with losing my car for about four days total. I'm not OK with them not catching the real source of my leak when it's right there in front of their faces and doing the job right the first time. tl;dr - Nice guys, but gave me the runaround on estimates and didn't fix the problem the first time around. They seemed really great telling me all kinds of things they could do. I finally get my broken vehicle to them and all of a sudden the quote doubles and there charging me more for the estimate then they said. They told me one price to fix it and then came back with all these other parts I needed. Turns out the first place I was at beat there price with these *special parts included. I said I can't afford that. Ill have to take my truck and all of a sudden I have a estimate fee to pay that's more then what I was told. Then, the day I go to get my vehicle the fee doubles! Why? Because of labor and fluids they had to add in. Trust me, shop around and you will find a better price that you can trust will be the price when you go to get your car! read more

A situation that could have easily become a prolonged nightmare was made much easier because of Craig and his team. Everyone was friendly, helpful, patient and understanding. The entire staff at Action Automotive were beyond helpful and kind. I brought my 2003 Audi A6 in to have it's 100,000 service done (timing belt, water pump, etc), and they got me in quickly, gave me a thorough diagnostic, showed me exactly what needed to be replaced, gave me recommendations, and got my car up and running quickly! Now, they're not the cheapest repair shop in town, nor would I want them to be. I'm a wedding videographer, and my car is also my lifeline. It has to be 100% reliable. If it breaks down and I miss a wedding, it could be fatal for my business. So I'm definitely willing to pay extra for the careful attention to detail, and knowledgable staff (Brian used to work for an Audi dealership). They're courtesy shuttle made getting there and back home super convenient too. I'll definitely be recommending Actuon Automotive, and using their services many more times myself. read more

I chose Action Automotive because of the high ratings here on Yelp. Unfortunately, they tried to take me for a ride (pun intended) and I would like to suggest that all women to avoid this place, just to be safe. My brake fluid light had come on a few days ago, so I brought my car in at 8am on a Friday without an appointment. They were able to fit me in, which I appreciated, but after making an inspection, they told me the brakes on my Ford Focus needed to be replaced, as well as a brake fluid bleeding, at a cost of $729, and I should probably also do a steering wheel fluid flush, as well as replace the mounts for my engine, which had collapsed, at a cost of $500. Total cost for everything was $1300, and the printout indicated this was for PREMIUM parts. They didn't mention any lower-cost options, like using mid-grade parts or anything. I'm sorry, but this is a Ford Focus, a car worth maybe $4500. I'm not interested in PREMIUM PARTS. Plus, as a student, I certainly didn't have $729 at my disposal (though they did offer their credit option...). Because I straight up could not afford their price, I left with my car. Then on the advice of a friend, I took it somewhere else to get a second opinion. Turns out, my brakes are JUST FINE, with at least 50-60% left (which was kind of what I thought to begin with), and the brake fluid tested out fine as well. They did get it correct that the engine mounts have collapsed, but the more trustworthy mechanic I went to explained that it's not essential to get it fixed right now, and since I have very little money and no income right now, I've chosen to take care of it at a later date. It makes me mad that this kind of thing happens to me more often than not, and it made me even more upset to find out that I can't even trust Yelp anymore to find honest mechanics. I don't know exactly why I was the one taken for a ride, but if I had to guess, I'd say it's at least partly because I'm a female soon-to-be lawyer without a mechanical background. Regardless, that doesn't give car repair places an excuse to try and swindle me out of my student loan money so they can make a quick buck. Getting the news that I needed to spend $729 to make my car safe was beyond inexcusable and resulted in me having a pretty bad panic attack that day. Thanks, Action Automotive. read more
