Started with a little misunderstanding but ended with one of the best customer service!!! I am so glad I went back to them because they know what they are doing and I am so happy with the service and what I paid was completely fair! Nick is AMAZING, he went above and beyond all my expectations!!! Thank you!!! read more

I rented a car last week while visiting my elderly parents in Phoenix. While on the highway I heard a loud slam under the car and there were more noises coming from under the car as we continued on. I pulled over and my son in the passenger seat could not even open his door. I got out and saw a strange piece of aluminum under the passenger side rocker panel. Long story short-I used Waze which showed me that Action Auto Repair was close by. I was greeted warmly by the guy behind the counter who I presume was the owner. I told my story. He took the keys. Ten minutes later he came to us in the waiting room with a pretzeled rod -two feet long-of aluminum in his hand and explained he had pulled it out where it had pierced the plastic rocker panel and also explained it must have been road debris. But the reason I am posting-he would not let me pay him. He said (after I repeatedly tried to pay) "enjoy your visit in Phoenix". read more

Great guys. Brought in two vehicles one they could not fix but have me specialist to help and did not charge. The other vehicle diagnosed quick and got me in same day. Thanks joe read more

I worked my way through college working for 4 car dealerships, among other jobs. I use to do all my own automotive repair. Now as I age, I find I needed a reliable place I could trust to do the work I, as a perfectionist, use to do myself. Action Auto Repair, gives me that peace of mind when I take my vehicles to there business, that it will be done right, just as I was always use to doing the work myself. Without wondering if it was done right. That is why I give this business 5 stars. read more

I have had tons of issues with my car because it's old and beat up, but I have only taken my car to Action Auto since my first review around 8 months ago and I am still as pleased with their service from day one. Joe is outstanding and greets you with a smile and excellent service. Nick also working the service counter is outstanding. Both of them are extremely professional and make you feel like you can trust them because you can! Mike is also the main tech I've had for my issues and he is also very friendly and informative. Going to hate the day I move and need to find another mechanic like action auto because I doubt ill be able to! read more

Even though they are a little far from my house, & I pass several other repair shops on the way, I highly recommend this place. I have been there several times as both of my vehicles are a little older and starting to show their age. I recently had an issue getting a vehicle thru an emissions inspection but Action got my car in and replaced a faulty sensor so my vehicle passed. Their turn around time is outstanding- Action always gets my car diagnosed and repaired in a timely efficient manner. They are very good at explaining the problem and repairs needed as well as communicating with you as to how long it will take to repair your vehicle. Also, if you don't need anything done they will not hesitate to let you know without making something up and charging you for it. read more

we just had our bmw 335i serviced and breaks job done at AAR. this was our first time just wanted check there workmanship, price reasonability and customerservice. i must say.... They are not the cheapest and the lowest from the price perspective, but we feel the job they have done is equally great as the dealer would have done. what you do get here however is the genuine transparency by their office staff. one in particular is there office MGR Nick. i don't think we would have trusted them to work on our beemer since this was our first time not taking it to the dealer... had we not talked to Nick. He is a fine young man with a great knowledge and excellent customer skills. so far so good! read more

My family has been going to them for years and before action we were costumers of Joe's. They have been honest about the problems with my car. I went some place else for a oil change and that place told me I had things wrong with my car that I didn't. They were honest and said my car was fine. I just had work done and they even fixed my window and didn't charge me. It's great to have a honest mechanic! Appreciated read more

We brought our older (1999 Pontiac Sunfire) to Action Auto Repair based on the online reviews. The car had a significant acceleration hesitation from a stop, it would randomly stall when idling or when the rpms dropped below 2000 or so. Other than that it ran great, but the stalling and acceleration problem was becoming a safety issue. We had brought it to local repair shops to fix the problem and one couldn't diagnose it properly and the other charged $299 for a tune-up and stated it should cure the issue. Well it didn't, and within 70 miles of driving, the old issues were resurfacing. Action Auto to the rescue! We called, spoke with Joe and he assured us that they would most likely diagnose the issues and fix them properly. We dropped the vehicle off just before closing, explained the problems we had with the car and left, figuring we would get a call the next day saying it was going to be a high repair cost or something like that. Well lo and behold, Joe calls the next day, states they figured everything out, replaced damaged and malfunctioning items and conducted service checks on others. All in all, for parts and labor, the total cost was just $116. The car now runs like new, no more issues and there is a nice sense of security knowing it was fixed correctly. Way to go Action Auto! read more

Had some billing issues regarding the cost of a part and the repairs being initially unsuccessful, but to the owner's credit he stepped up and made things right and then some. He showed a lot of integrity and earned my respect and the possibility I may take my truck back despite the issues. Not a lot of business owners that will take that kind of personal responsibility, so I have to give credit there. The owner is definitely 5 stars, but there are still some kinks in the system I am sure he'll work out. read more

Been going to Tom at Action Auto for 20+ years. Never a complaint. He's honest and will tell you exactly what's up. The mechanics are capable and you can see the old parts if necessary. He's also willing to talk about fishing if you want. :) Highly Recommended. read more

When I go to this shop, they don't give me a list of a million things that could be wrong. They look at it for free and then give an honest diagnosis and fix it the first time around so you're not coming back multiple times for the same problem. This is the only shop I do business with, these guys are really friendly and treat you with great customer service! read more

Highly recommend Action Auto if you live in the area. I've used Action Auto for many years for regular service to major repairs. They are always timely, professional, and prices are reasonable. read more

The guys here are so nice and professional. Today was my first time here but I definitely plan on returning for any repairs I may need done in the future. Btw your 5th oil change is freeee. read more

We used this place a couple of times for basic car maintenance, including oil changes. Every time they tried to push the synthetic oil on us and each time we turned it down and used conventional oil. But this last time (and I do mean the last time!) they didn't even asked and just went ahead and used the synthetic oil without asking and charged us $60 instead of the usual $20. My husbands company had just gone out of business and we were on one income and they totally screwed us! read more

I have gone there for years. Very honest. Much less than the dealer on repairs. If it doesn't need to be repaired, they will tell you. If they repair it, it's done right. read more

What a great auto shop! As a woman, I'm used to mechanics being condescending or trying to sell me stuff that I don't need. But I was pleasantly surprised with Action Auto Repair. From the start, Joe was very friendly and helpful. My truck has 200k miles and I wanted it looked over to see what would need serviced soon. Joe had my truck diagnosed and gave me a list of items that needed attention, what could wait to be serviced, and how much it would cost- upfront. I told Joe that I would wait a little while before having the transmission fluid flushed... all of the other small issues, I'm going to have my husband deal with. When I asked Joe how much I owe him for his time- he graciously offered to waive any diagnostic fee! I'm very impressed with this auto shop and I feel confident giving them my business in the future. For once, I've found a mechanic with great customer service, who is friendly and HONEST! Thank you, thank you, thank you! read more

We live in Prescott, but our daughter lives in Phoenix. About a year ago, we needed a mechanic quickly and on her side of town. We found Action Auto Repair online with great reviews so we decided to use them. Best decision ever! They are friendly, do great work, clean shop and most importantly HONEST! We have been taking her car there since for other repairs. Oh, and they provide free shuttle service as well. read more

BUYER BEWARE: About two months ago I brought my Jeep in to get repaired. It needed a compressor from what I was told and this would fix what was wrong with the car. I agreed to let them do the job because Nick advised me that they would take care of it and get me back on the road. Over a week after I dropped off the car I got a call that everything is done and fixed. I picked up the car and drove it home, the next morning the pump had burned out and the problem was not fixed. I brought it back so that they can once again fix the problem. They ended up ordering a new compressor, but now, the second time they realized that a nitrous tank in the car was empty, so they told me that they can't find anyone to have this filled. I ended up picking up the car and going to a Jeep dealer to get the tank filled, then brought the car back once again. The compressor finally came in after a couple of days, so they put the new compressor in and now the tank is filled Nick again advised me that he took care of the issue. I once again picked up the car and drove it home and again the pump would not stop running and had burned out. I again brought the car back, but this time Nick told me that he brought the car to a Dodge dealer to have them look at it (not sure if that is true or not) and they said that everything had checked out, they didn't see anything wrong with the car. I told Nick I would just pick up the car and bring it to the dealer ship once and for all to get fixed the right way. The dealer ship that I brought it to ended up putting in a new compressor and figuring out what was wrong. Now the car drives great and I would never bring my car or recommend anyone to go to this repair shop. If they would have told me that this repair is out of their scope of work I would have went somewhere else. This repair shop charged me just under $3,000 for parts and labor, but couldn't fix the problem. Paid a dealership labor and parts to put the new compressor in and they fixed the problem. They keep telling me that they did their job, but they couldn't fix the car. read more

We took our truck to Action Auto on Sunday, and dropped the key in their "Early Bird" drop box. The check engine light turned on and the truck went kaput. Tom from Action called early Monday morning and told us what the problem was a transmission solenoid. They did the repair along with a oil change as requested. The truck runs great as if it was brand new. Thanks to Action we're back up and running in less than one day. We have also brought our other vehicles to Action Auto as well. We highly recommend their service. They wont steer you wrong. read more

Michael P. Last June my wife and I were driving through AZ. and started to have car trouble. The engine light was coming on and it started to hesitate and chug along as if it were running out of gas.We didn't know anyone in the area and called our friends in Care Free. They recommended Action Auto Repair out on Deer Valley. We were about 12 miles from this shop but found it very easy with our friends directions. Fifteen minutes later we show up at this shop with no appt. and were greeted by the owner Mr. Tom. We explained our problems to him and he gave us a couple different options. We found this guy to be very considerate and attentive to our needs. We also told him that we just had our 2008 Volvo XC- 90 serviced at the dealership in Las Vegas. and they charged us $1289.34.Today the very same trouble is happening again. Tom took the car in back and started to work on it. 10 minutes later he came back out and explain to us what the real problem was.One of the spark plugs were loose and the turbo hose was collapsing under pressure, therefore causing the engine to hesitate at low speeds. We now realize that we were ripped off badly by the dealership. Not even a month and we are experiencing the same problems they said the fixed.Tom said I have good news and good news!! We can fix it, the problem will be solved and I will give you 90 day warranty on our work. Tom fixed the problem that the dealership didn't and only charged us $289.00. My wife and I were so pleased with Tom and his crew. He is one of the most honest business owners we know. We just wish there was an Action Auto in Las Vegas and Chicago. :-) :-)....... THANK YOU AGAIN ACTION AUTO!! We highly recommend Tom and his staff for all your mechanical needs. This shop is by far one of the best we have ever dealt with. Michael P. read more

We just moved to Phoenix from out of state and have been searching for an honest and trustworthy shop. We have found it in Action Auto Repair. I gave Action Auto Repair 4 stars instead of 5 hoping that my review would actually count in Yelp's automated algorithm for the overall rating (which is underrated by far). I have done business with Tom and his crew on multiple occasions and will be a loyal customer for the foreseeable future. I would take the negative reviews with a grain of salt since I'm confident that these guys would go above and beyond to make things right if any client was not satisfied with their work. They are hyper-sensitive about their reputation as any business of this type should be. If you need a trust-worthy auto repair shop, this is the place. read more

In may of 2011 had repairs and was very satisfied. Returned in October and for $883, I got new water pump and timing belt and bearing kit etc. In Feb 2012,I was in Central Phoenix and the auto started making a noise like the lifters or valves were slamming. Not wanting to try to reach Action Auto, I went to the closest place which is Fletchers at 35th ave and Union Hills. They diagnosed the problem that bolts to the belt cover and belt tension-er were loose and they had to replace the tension er and other repairs to the total of $1300 plus. I went to talk to Tom and a mechanic who denied any responsibility. I went there because he was recommended by Mark Salem's web site. read more

They are a super bunch of guys. They didn't talk down to me because I'm an older woman but treated me with respect. They gave me a fair price for the repairs that were done. I have a 2009 Smart Car, it isn't an easy car to work on but they did with no complaints. I was thrilled that they came and picked me up when my car was finished. They have a nice waiting room/lounge if you are coming for a quick repair. I know now when it is due for an oil change to give them some notice so they can be ready parts wise. read more

Arrived unannounced to get n oil/filter change. They were busy but gladly worked me in. Was finished in only 1 hour. Fantastic service....
