DO NOT GO HERE Was recommended to this shop. BIG MISTAKE. Brought vehicle in for diagnostic of AC. Approved repairs for over $400.00 Week and a half later AC goes out again. Return vehicle another 400+ bill. Week later AC goes out again. Now a over 700+ bill. Did not authorize to fix a 3rd time. NO ACCOUNTABILITY for their work. read more

I had already replaced the Mass Air Flow Sensor in my car but was still getting multiple Air/Fuel error codes. Overpriced, bad customer service ( do not reply to emails) and identified the wrong problem, and messed up a simple thermostat which if fairly alarming. I am easy going and Everyone at action auto is fairly nice, however last May they "fixed" my thermostat in my 02 Durango. they did not seal it properly and it kept overheating, i took it back and they fixed something else for 600 dollars, then it overheated again..Took it to another mechanic and he immediately fixed the thermostat for half the price and let me know the error, truck is fine now. even pulled out the therm and showed me what went wrong. I sent a kind email with photos and details and received no help. Moral of the story is, they charged double for the thermostat so likely overpriced, they do not reply to emails so no customer service and they misdiagnose. probably avoid unless you are a regular, which im guessing is the bulk of their customers, or enjoy small claims court. read more

I will forever bring my vehicles to this shop over and over again and happily give them my money. There's no haggling and there is the best customer service ever. Had to tow our vehicle to this shop (yes we've been using them for years, before they changed hands). They informed us our car needed a fix the dealership typically takes care of, but assured us they could handle the work. 8 days (3 days longer than expected) and about $2,200 later they are unable to fix the issue and 15 minutes before they close shop early for the day they let us know we now need to tow it to a Ford dealership. They expect us to pay for towing and now whatever Ford charges us for what they can't fix. Word to others, major fixes, go to a professional! I'd say if they couldn't fix it they should at LEAST offer to tow it to someone who can! Needless to say they have lost this long time customer for good. UPDATE: now that it's been to the Ford dealership we found out that the wiring to these parts that were replaced were faulty throwing codes that the parts were bad, when in fact it was the wiring! We are now without a working vehicle that contain $2,200 worth of parts that didn't need replacing. read more

I have taken my truck into the team at Action Auto Repair a few times now, and can't say enough great things. My most recent trip resulted in the same incredible level of honesty, integrity and great service at a reasonable price that I and so many of my friends and family have come to expect over the years. I brought my truck in for a power steering leak. I had a worn seal on my rack and pinion and knew that needed to be replaced. Fair deal; got the estimate (which was actually a little under where I expected it to be), gave them the green light and they had it replaced hours ahead of the time they forecasted with ZERO hassle or surprises. While they had it, I figured it also had to be time for some brake work as old as my truck is, so I asked if they could service my brakes. They checked it out and said I still had plenty of pad life left and would service the brakes if I really wanted them to, but they didn't see the need for it. I was blown away. Shocked. In complete disbelief. What shop in their right mind would not take advantage of someone in that situation and take the easy money in exchange for the brake job? Action Auto Repair; that's who! Nick and Joe are the two service advisors up front, and they are both extremely genuine, honest and just plain nice guys that actually care. How many auto repair shop folks can you say those very things about? Not many! The biggest takeaway I have is that this entire shop is 100% HONEST and their mechanics perform top quality work without any games or gimmicks. They have never tried to "up sell" any unnecessary services but rather quite the contrary. They are truly a rare breed who give it to you straight, and actually try and save you money when and where they can. Got a quote for AC work. "Joe" said 3,500 dollars and would go up from there, didnt know how much more because he didn't know if anything else was wrong. He then told me they needed half down payment, this was another red flag and I never had a shop require this. I asked why and Joe said because he didn't know me and they had "some issues in the past". I ended up taking it to my mechanic and he did the same job and more for 700 dollars. This place seems to have some questionable business practices with outrageous pricing. Im glad they didn't work on my vehicle. I would be very leary about this place. read more

I have been a faithful customer for two years but I will now search for an honest automotive shop. I dropped my car off on 04/19/2021; the lady called me on Wednesday the 21st and said the AC compressor was not turning on and to troubleshoot it was going to cost $150 just for a diagnostic (any dealer will charge $100 for diagnostics). I said to her that's odd because the compressor was kicking in I just needed a freon recharge told her I was going to think about it. 4/22/2019 I went to pick up my car, get in and now there's a check engine light. It is more likely than not that the person intentionally sabotaged my car. There's no evidence to prove or disprove the instance but they have now lost a faithful customer. *Dishonest people * Higher diagnostics fee than the dealer. All I needed was a recharge and now have a handful of problems. read more

I took my '07 Jeep Wrangler here after it wouldn't pass emissions. I knew it was going to be expensive, I read thru all the forums I could find. The State gave me up to $900 to fix it and before I picked it up, they even took it back to the emission test site and it passed, saving me the trouble of taking it myself. They did a great job and got it fixed faster than I was originally told. I got a ride back home from their driver after dropping it off, which was really convenient. If you have an older car, please don't take it here. Took my 2005 Honda accord for a simple alignment and wheel assembly $700 later I'm still driving completely crooked. These people are scammers and when you're not happy the responses to honest customer reviews is disgusting. The mechanic Lonny accused us of cross-threading our lug nut after they fixed our wheel assembly improperly. They just didn't want to admit to their own wrongdoing. He tried to say they fixed it for free after we brought it back. The front desk woman seemed awfully apologetic after they realized their mistake so it clearly wasn't our fault. The other reviews of people giving negative feedback is absolutely true and had I taken those reviews into consideration I would have gone elsewhere. The building may have been there for 40 years but there's absolutely no way it's the same person because these people are scammers. They clearly don't know how to be honest and will take your money and leave your car worse then you brought it in. read more

Caveat Emptor- (car owner beware)These guys are scam artists-I previously wrote a review on my 2003 Jeep Wrangler that a rear trans axle /left gear was replaced along with the seals (which was legitimate)however- all car fluids which was completely unnecessary to jack my bill From $ 2,200.00 up to $2500.00 back in Feb 2016. I was asked why I didn't write a review earlier was because when I went on yelp I was blocked because when u pay as a Yelp business Subscriber they can block any potentially negative reviews and show the sugar coated ones posted by friends. Therefore I wrote it out however I was unable to post as when I hit the post button it wouldn't post it so I was forced to wait up to this recent date on Yelp to complete it.. I felt it was important to tell the public how these people handle their disingenuous /reprehensible business tactics! What I also failed to mention in my belated review was that their half baked mechanic put in seals that have been leaking on the left wheel and tire that were guaranteed to be continent despite the hot Phoenix weather! I believe they reused my old ones or replaced with new ones incorrectly. They told me to bring the vehicle back if it wasn't right under warranty but I asked them if it was no cost and they told me I'd have to pay for it. U have to be careful with businesses like theirs because they have to keep the shop open by creating imaginary work to bill unsuspecting customers (many the female type). Please Read LB below! I was referred to Action Auto by a good friend. My car wouldn't start so had the car towed to Action over the weekend. I promptly heard from them first thing Monday morning with a plan to fix the car and a fair price. Everything was done on time so paid and arranged to pick up the car at the end of the day. Unfortunately, the car didn't start when I went to pick it up and left it to be looked at again. I once again got a call first thing with the new issue related to my car. The amazing thing was that while there was a significant part that needed to be replaced (and labor) there would be no additional charge. I offered to pay, but was told: "we told you it was fixed this new issue is related to the previous issue and you paid and it wasn't fixed--so you have paid in full." Needless to say, I was floored that someone would stand behind their work/quote etc like this. I will tell everyone I know about Action Auto and their integrity. This auto repair shop is the real deal. Old school customer service which is outstanding! The waiting area is super clean. Staff is awesome, friendly and funny. The work was spot on perfect and completed on time in both my Chevy truck oil change and the oil change on my girlfriends Land Rover. Very friendly, honest repair shop! We've been using them for our cars since we moved to the valley almost 8 years ago, and since we tend to have older cars, we are frequent visitors. But they are always up front about things, won't tell you to fix stuff that's unnecessary, and they also do complimentary vehicle inspections if you're purchasing a used car. One time they saved us almost $3000 that a dealership wanted to charge us for a necessary repair; they fixed the issue with a much simpler, and way cheaper, repair. Great shop! read more

Last update. Speaking to Cathy was a huge waste of my time. She finally found my account after stating in a previous reply here that I had never been a customer there. Yeah right! She had every lame excuse to defend her company ripping me off several years ago. Her biggest issue was a concern over why I didn't write my review sooner. I explained it to her, but that was not good enough. She kept saying I should have come to management sooner if I wasn't satisfied and I kept telling her I tried. Basically she and her company did not wish to even try and make the situation and experience I had there any better by offering me ANYTHING of value. Basically just denials and arguments. This company didn't fix my car, they took a lot of money from me before they finally figured out the real issue and then acted improperly by fixing my car without getting my approval for the expensive "fix". I was buying a car from someone and had it taken into Action to get checked out. They gave a list of issues along with 2 coolant leaks. One by the water pump and one by the radiator but said it's probably not the radiator and just a hose. I decide to buy the car and loose all my reserve coolant in a day. Take it into get an alignment and they say radiator is busted, take it to a radiator guy and he looks at it for one second and says the raditor is busted and there is no leak at the water pump. Bottom line, I wouldn't trust these guys fixing my care, they would either misdiagnose or charge for extra work. read more

They didn't turn the rotors and within a few miles the brakes squeaked resulting in a loud metal to metal sound during braking which seems like more than just unlubricated guide pins. I rented a car last week while visiting my elderly parents in Phoenix. While on the highway I heard a loud slam under the car and there were more noises coming from under the car as we continued on. I pulled over and my son in the passenger seat could not even open his door. I got out and saw a strange piece of aluminum under the passenger side rocker panel. Long story short-I used Waze which showed me that Action Auto Repair was close by. I was greeted warmly by the guy behind the counter who I presume was the owner. I told my story. He took the keys. Ten minutes later he came to us in the waiting room with a pretzeled rod -two feet long-of aluminum in his hand and explained he had pulled it out where it had pierced the plastic rocker panel and also explained it must have been road debris. But the reason I am posting-he would not let me pay him. He said (after I repeatedly tried to pay) "enjoy your visit in Phoenix". read more
