Do not go here... my bf took his truck in for something that seemed minor and they tried to charge us almost $4,000 for several repairs that weren't needed immediately. Took it to a very well trusted mechanic for a second opinion and all that needed to be replaced for now was the tires because there was a bubble. I have a 2010 FJ Cruiser that was maintained by the Toyota dealership until they started charging me "pink prices.... Carmel came highly recommended so I tried them first for a basic oil change. Then one day the cars engine light came on, so I dropped the vehicle off. They cane back with clear and fair pricing and I approved the repairs on the spot! 5* Customer Service. This is my NEW shop. DONT GO HERE!! if I could rate this 0 stars I would. my elderly grandmother took her truck in because her AC wasnt blowing cold air and she just wanted it to be fixed and they let her know the price and she was happy with it. when she went to pick up the truck they said the ac isn't working at all anymore and they're going to charge her more to fix it. They messed up her vehicle even more and tried to charge her and when she asked for the inspection report to see what's wrong they didn't give it to her. read more

Have been going to Firestone for years. Needed a wiring repair and they said a diagnostic charge would apply even if they couldn't fix it. Called Carmel - long story short, no up front charge, they fixed it for very reasonable cost, checked emissions to make sure it would pass and couldn't have been nicer through the whole process. This was my first time to use the services of Carmel Automotive. My daughter recommended them when my car battery died. Worried that it might be more than a car battery, I headed to Carmel for an evaluation. Bruce explained the service process. After a diagnostic test, it was determined that I needed a new battery. Sergio called to give me the news. The battery was replaced and I am a happy camper. I will definitely go back when the need arises, as I have a 2003 Toyota Corolla with 129K miles. I called ahead to check if they could take me for an oil change and they got me right in as soon as I showed up. I previously tried changing my turning signal light bulb and it still wasn't working. I let them know what I did and he said that I put it in backwards. He didn't charge me for putting my light bulb in correctly and I was only charged for the oil change. Since he didn't charge me for the light bulb they seemed trustworthy as I was expecting to pay for it. I went back for a new air filter and cabin air filter a couple days later. read more

They call you and give you the cost before they start the work and when you pick up your car they go over the repairs that were done and show you all the parts they replaced. I was expecting a positive experience instead I was confronted with a very dishonest practice. I came in for a faulty AC on my vehicle. They were very quick to give me a diagnostic over the phone without really doing any extensive work to get to that conclusion. They told me $2450, for Gosh sake the compressor alone is $250 part, they were hoping I would take the bait. How can you be sure the condenser needs to be replaced if you haven't even removed the compressor to begin with to verify contamination of the system? It's just an AC, not rocket engine work. When I said I wasn't going to spend that amount they said they could get me by with just the compressor but they'd be no warranty since the condenser could be bad too, they'd do it for $1400. I found an honest shop that quoted me half of the cost to make the repair and charge me no diagnostic fee. The joke with Carmel cost me $165, way to make your money on the back of hard working folks. Stir away from this place. read more

If you're old enough to remember service stations that weren't just gas stations, where you checked your oil and tires at the same time you filled'er up, then this place will bring you back. Maybe not to the service stations of the 1950's, but maybe the 80's or so, before the invention and proliferation of "Git It Cho Damn Self" gasoline. In addition to the ubiquitous self serve pumps and C-store, they also have service bays where you can get your oil changed or other such mechanical tomfoolery. I haven't gotten service or checked their prices, though. As far as gas, you can pump it yourself, sure, but they are using the old school method of charging more for credit than for cash, so be careful of the price. [Using a Valero/DiamondShamrock gas card gets you the cash price, though] Nice thing is they don't try to scam you by advertising the cash price then upping it at the pump if you pay credit; they advertise the credit price, and you get the awesome feeling of getting a nice little discount when you see the cash/gas card price! My cherry on top is that you aren't going to be charged $.50, $.75, or even $1.00 for use of the air compressor, like other gas stations nowadays. The island nearer to the building actually has TWO (2) air pump hoses built right into the side of the island's little wall, one right next to each gas pump! read more

I love yelp, but the negativity and hyper-criticism that comes with it all is not my thing... but this is one is valid and needs to be addressed. I wanted this to be my future "go to garage" given it's long history here in town. The overall first impressions were quite positive. However it quickly moved to the top of my "avoid-at-all-costs garages." Back up a little... My vehicle had just failed its first ever emissions (CO) test and I was in a very clear and present panic mode when I dropped the car off to Carmel Automotive. They smelled my fear and the rest follows. This garage participates in a very small group of statewide mechanics offering the newer ADEQ reimbursement plan. After I told them my budget cap of 400.00 and left my vehicle. 4 days later the owner called quoted 1500 to replace a cat. converter and a tune up. As the owner put it "to squeak me by for the emissions retest." Hopefully the last time I hear the word "squeak" and 1500.00 dollars in the same sentence again. I said no thank you and paid the ridiculous 115.00 inspection fee and took my vehicle to a reliable private mechanic, 40 miles outside of town. Preparing for the worst... The private mechanic first noticed 1 of 2 of the engines air filter clamps was unlatched. He then opened it to find a filthy filter and hose casing. 1 hour and $35 dollars later and a can of seafoam in the gas tank passed my emissions test with strong improvements. I strongly recommend you all to explore the simple issues first with a trust-worthy garage before ever considering Carmel Automotive. read more

This place is great. Local service, local prices but good quality work. They helped explain many things about my car that I've never been told before. I drive a lot for work to the tune of 40,000 mi per year just for work. Thy recommended adjusting my rear suspension so my tires didn't wear out because of the materials I carry in my trunk at all times. Simple things like that make a difference for me. Every time I've come here the staff have been friendly and helpful. It's relatively easy to get in and out of the lot and has a service station attached. Snacks are available inside and soda is available in the bottle. If they had fountain drinks we'd be here more often. read more

I have not personally used this mechanic shop for my car however while getting an over the phone estimate they were honest and fair. Our truck's motor completely went out, they suggested a few options which I like a lot! I called four other mechanic shops and they quoted me much more compared to Carmel's Automotive. Ben was patient with me and even suggested if the truck is at a loss they will wait for a tow truck to come pick it back up. My husband and I are pretty sure it's the motor and may not even be worth diagnosing and paying for tow pick-up and return but either way it was nice to have support by them.
