I needed to get a car ready for my daughter to drive. It had been sitting a while and was making a horrible sound. I took it into Jake's and they diagnosed the problem. A prior mechanic from a different shop had improperly installed an engine bolt and the engine block needed to be rethreaded. This problem was messing up how the pulleys worked. They fixed it and now it runs smooth and quiet. I also had them change the oil and fix AC. This was the second time that I had gone to this shop. My previous experience was just as good. My daughter goes to school at GCU. She came down for a visit to Cali for the weekend and when she was leaving I notice her car didn't sound right when she started her car. We were nervous because we really don't know any auto repair shop out in AZ. I was recommended by a lot of parents that have their children going to GCU. My daughter went they checked it out and told her it was her starter told her the price and told her if she would like it fixed come back in the morning at 6am and they will have someone take her back to school and once it was done they would call her and pick her up again. Update 8/16/24 Yesterday It was brought to my attention that I had sparks coming from my rear tires. It turns out that the alignment I received was way off and it caused the inner part of both rear tires to wear down to the wires in a span of 4 months. To be fair, it is my understanding that Firestone does the alignments for Jakes. Pretty common as most auto repair shops don't have their own alignment rack. I took the vehicle back to Jake's and Marc, the General Manager said they would give it a look and figure out what happened. Keep in mind these tires were less than a year old and not wearing excessively before the alignment. I got a call from Marc today and he indicated that he just didn't know why the alignment was bad, but his offer was that he would buy two new tires if I paid for the next alignment. I swallowed hard on this one because I felt like I had already paid for the bad alignment that caused the problem. Marc and I went back and forth a bit and I relented and agreed to pay for the 2nd alignment, though I think he senses my dismay. Once I got to Jake's to pick up the car, I was reaching for my wallet and Marc put the keys and invoice in front of me and said I was all set. I asked if he wanted me to pay for the alignment and he said no and everything was fine. I'm sure he was swallowing hard at this point. What I want to point out here is what I've said in previous reviews of this place. I believe they do the right thing. It's why I've been a customer there since I moved to Arizona in 2009. I have even driven over 2 hours when I lived in Sedona to get work done at Jakes because they are trustworthy people. So while I think maybe we had a little disagreement over a $70 alignment, in my mind Marc did the right thing and the crew at Jake's righted the situation. I still highly recommend Jake's for honest, quality work! read more

This auto shop is the only one I have found that treats me with respect and kindness. From the beginning of giving them a call to see if they had availability to look at my car, to the day I picked up my keys, they are professional and caring. I took my car in to have the AC fixed about a year ago. Recently my car was overheating due to a malfunction in the coolant reservoir. Mike looked at my history and let me know that a part they had fixed has a warranty on it and they were able to assist me with no cost. The spent hours on my car and returned it with the part replaced and completely fixed. I never would've known I had a warranty if it wasn't for the honestly and care of these employees. I've brought a couple of vehicles to Jake's. They always do excellent work. From installation of a lift kit on a Jeep that requires cutting and welding. They did an awesome job on the installation. Made it look factory the welds were clean and professional right down to painting over the welds with rust inhibiting primers. Even simple oil changes come with a vehicle inspection. If they are just doing simple routine maintenance to keep me safe on the road or upgrading my weekend warrior for the trails. I trust Jake's Automotive to do it all. My Dad always used to tell me "Good work isn't cheap and cheap work isn't good." I've been back for my normal oil change and 60,000 mile maintenance. I notice each time I visit, Bill will let me know what services I have coming up in the future. As a business manager myself I notice the urgency each staff member has toward the needs of the customer. While waiting, the lovely gentleman Jaime who will give you a ride home or to work comes in and says hi to us and asks if we need a ride. When I ask questions about my invoice, Steve answered by sharing information about how a particular part of the engine works and the intake etc... How the part plays in. I feel grateful to have an auto shop that respects me and that I can trust. To the smallest detail- they wiped the bird poop off my window! That wasn't on the invoice... My uncle is currently car shopping and any used car we consider will be inspected by Bill and Steve at Jakes auto BEFORE the purchase. We have done this in the past- at $57 they will pop it up on the riser and see if it has been in an accident or any major problems that could arise. read more

I'm just a young lady who knows absolutely nothing about cars, and my car overheated- fortunately next to this professional auto repair shop. Endless thanks to the kind-hearted worker named Mark, as I was anxious in an unfamiliar part of town and my car was breaking down. He was kind enough to end a phone call he was on, to come over and check things out. He calmed me down by immediately knowing what the problem was and gave me a fair estimate. The shop was closing, but he offered to let me park my car in the front or back locked lot to ensure my car's safety overnight as it was needing a tow. It turns out my parents wanted to tow the car someplace as they wanted it looked at by a personal friend- and he was super cooperative in helping us arrange triple A towing and even refused a tip when offered as our appreciation for his selfless assistance. I just moved my daughter to GCU. I had her car worked on by a local shop (Central IL) and thought it was fixed. We Hauled her car 1500 miles only to have it still not working right when we backed it off the trailer. I was already stressed with the move (first time away from home) and having car issues only compounded it. We were blind as to who to take it to that could be trusted. My wife found Jake's on the GCU site and I called them the next day. Mark was great!! He got us in right away to find the needle in the haystack issue we had. He even paid for the Uber back to GCU!! We thought we had it fixed and he didn't charge me, but the check engine came back on. He was able to get us right back in and after a couple of days, he had it fixed!!!
