The owner loaned to me a space heater until the job was complete. I only have one request from the company to use drop cloths as not to make a mess on their future projects. The owner, Chris was in touch with me from beginning to end of the project. I appreciated that very much. The two technicians that came over to the house were very polite and helpful. Will I continue doing business with this company? Of course I will and I think you could too. I would like to keep a good relationship with this company.

From start to finish, this company delivered outstanding service. Their team was professional,…read moreknowledgeable, and extremely respectful of our home. They walked us through every step of the installation, answered all of our questions clearly, and explained how to use and maintain our new heating system so we can get the most out of it for years to come. The installation itself was done with great attention to detail -- they arrived on time, worked efficiently, protected our floors, and cleaned up so well it looked like they were never here. The difference in our home's comfort is incredible, and you can tell the work was done right. It's rare these days to find a company that combines fair pricing, quality craftsmanship, and exceptional customer care, but they truly delivered on all three. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable heating services. We are beyond satisfied!

This would be 5 stars if they didn't end up price gouging for a routine maintenance visit…read more I've used them before, once for a routine service visit and once when a radiator pipe was leaking (they ended up also doing our next service on the boiler at that time). The first time they did the maintenance, they didn't drain and refill the boiler, which was always done by any previous service techs. The second time I asked them to (after they replaced the bolt on the leaking pipe) and they did. In June of this year when they came for the maintenance, I mentioned that I'd like the boiler drained/filled again. Steve starts talking about how if I want the boiler drained, there are separate charges since they are different jobs, the burner and the water. This is news to me; every reputable tech has always drained the boiler as part of the service, even when we had an oil boiler, and the charge includes both services. After spending no more than 15 min total on my boiler, I go to write a check ($125 a year ago) and he says he needs to call the office to get the price. Red flag. They did not quote me when I called, but I also had used them before for the same service and knew that if the price went up, say to $150, I would have been fine with that. He returns and says it's $325 and does this song and dance about how their costs have gone up and he's not going to charge me the $125 fee to come out. What? It would have been $450 for a 15-minute scheduled routine maintenance call? I followed up with the office a few times to get an invoice with the 2 "charges" broken out. You guessed it, a month later they have ignored the request. I try to keep my business local rather than go with the big companies. Top Mechanical gave me a great lesson on how the little guy will choose to rip you off if he feels he can get away with it. Go with the big company is the takeaway if you don't want to be ripped off.

My partner and I closed on our home on October 3, 2025, and met with Jason at HD Air on October 5…read moreabout replacing oil heat with a roughly $29,000 mini-split system. A year later, we are still dealing with repeated failures of our home's only heating and cooling system. Conflicting financing information and inconsistent communication delayed installation until December. We were told $16,000 in Mass Save rebates could cover the remaining balance after our $13,000 HEAT loan. After we signed over the loan check, HD Air told us we needed separate financing for the $16,000, forcing us to obtain a cosigner. We felt misled. During December installation, we spent nights without heat and reported freezing pipes. Only then were we told the basement would require ongoing space-heater use. Crews left trash in our yard and holes above the electrical panel exposed to the outdoors. The branch box leaked immediately after installation. When we called for emergency service, we were told no technician was available that night and to shut off our only heat source. The system did not work properly until December 23. We paid $4,146 in additional rent for November and December because we could not fully move in, and experienced cracks in our home. We both work from home and have lost several days of work dealing with these problems. During that stressful period, I also went to the ER with high blood pressure. HD Air reimbursed our space heaters, but the problems continued. Installation and service visits: * 2025: December 4, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15, 16, 22, and 23. * 2026: May 19; September 12, 24, and 25; and October 6. In May, a reported leak was assessed as condensation. In September, another technician identified a refrigerant leak. We waited 12 days for service, only for the system to fail again within 45 minutes of the technician leaving. The next day's reset helped for about 15 minutes. A promised follow-up did not happen, and we had to call again. On October 6, a technician reported a restriction causing excessive system pressure. Our next appointment is October 13. If the system is not fixed at that appointment, we will have no working heating system as temperatures are expected to drop into the 50s the following day and near freezing at night. We are concerned about further cracking and damage to our home, our pets' wellbeing, and our own ability to stay warm and safe. HD Air has said it "may" consider replacing the system, but only if failures continue after October 13. That leaves us facing another winter without confidence in our home's only source of heat. The repeated failures, conflicting information, and lack of dependable follow-through have been costly and exhausting. We need HD Air to take responsibility and provide a lasting solution. I cannot in good conscience recommend them.
