Before signing up online I went to inspect the property. I saw a large transparent garage door for customer vehicle entrance, two available lumber yard style dollies, a clean and modern facility, and one of 2 operating elevators. had come to take none of these things for granted. Extra Space really needs to say more about their amenities on the website. There was a red flag though: no one in the office. That had been a recurring problem with the other facility. I still had some questions not covered on the website and the chat line was busy. I called. That didn't turn out well. I was asked to verify everything that I had just entered online and was asked to enter my CC on the telephone key pad which kept failing. When the woman on the other end said she would get technical help I hung up and started over. I already had my questions answered. After that, I saw a sign in the window saying the attendant was on the property and gave a number to reach her/him. A good sign, but it had just been put there. A few minutes later the attendant showed up. All that was not enough was not enough to take off a star. When you choose a size locker, if there's more than one of the same type available you are shown a map and you get to choose the location. You pay for the lock on registration which is unique to the Extra Space, in which you insert into the specially designed doors. It's easy to use and hard to pick.

Second, when I came to pick up the keys, I was told my lease hadn't been signed online even thought it had. Then, once I re-signed the lease (the person working there pushed all the buttons so I have no idea whether what he agreed to was what I had agreed to online) I was given keys and a lock and told all I had to do was make sure my code worked in the garage door, which it did. I returned about 2 hours later, after their business hours (which are only until 5, so good luck if you work a 9-5 and then need help) to put furniture into the storage unit. We had to unload outside the garage in the rain because the truck they rent out was blocking one of the elevators and someone unloading stuff who was apparently upstairs at their unit left their car in front of the other one. We unloaded, took a large couch up and found that the yellow dummy lock that was to be removed before we could move in never was. Thus we had to carry the couch BACK downstairs after trying without help to talk to "Customer Service" who didn't even know what I was talking about when I mentioned the yellow placeholder lock. In summary, don't do it. There's a Public Storage and U-Haul storage facility literally a stone's throw from this place where you'll get much better service. Still awaiting my refund that may have been charged twice since I had to fill out the lease twice.

Not only do you need a code (that you set yourself) to get in the gate, you also need a different one to get in the building itself where I had my things stored. The customer service here is outstanding and very professional. I never had any issues with trying to get in touch with someone on the rare occasion that I needed to. The storage areas are clean and very well lit and maintained, and it's one of the more reasonably priced facilities that I was able to find. Would highly recommend these folks if you are in need!

What a fantastic storage facility! I had a large unit there for about two and a half years. During…read morethat whole time, they never raised my rent! Due to the top-notch security system, I never had any problems getting access to my unit. No one ever broke into it either. The system is set up where you have to input a unique personal code to even enter the property. Nice little protective measure, right there at the street. Then you drive to your unit, which can be either indoors or outdoors. Mine was inside, because I wanted a warmer, drive-up space for all my stuff. Having the car parked inside--right next to the unit--is very convenient. There are other features that keep everything secure. For example, the doors to the building housing the indoor units will not open unless a valid personal code has been input at the entrance gate. Also, the unique personal codes are linked to specific storage units. So you have to unlock and enter your unit, or else the system will alert an on-site employee. Translation: anyone who is not authorized to enter the property will be unable to gain access to any storage units. Even the people who have legitimate units can only enter their own particular storage spaces. Speaking of security, there are surveillance cameras around the property and inside the buildings. A little redundancy there, but additional layers of security and protection are always reassuring. And you can use your own lock, whatever you prefer. One unusual feature is that the buildings are tucked into a carved-out area of a hillside. That shields everything from the prevailing weather patterns coming out of the north, northwest and west. This makes for warmer conditions. Even during winter visits to my storage units, the 'icebergs' in the wheel wells of my car would start melting and fall off. This facility is situated right on the edge of a large commercial area that contains just about every type of store or restaurant you might need to visit. Closeness to Costco (~ 1 mile away) was helpful to me, because I was able to purchase some inexpensive shelving that helped me get my unit better organized. There's also a Salvation Army Thrift Store nearby. They accepted all my donations of furniture and other salable items when the time came to let go of certain possessions (yes it happens!) and get myself moved out of state on short notice. Furthermore, I'm on the upper level of this two-story facility, and the elevator only works about a third of the time. This is a clean facility, probably because it's kind of new. And if you get a space on the bottom level, you won't have to worry about the elevator. But I would advise against getting an upper-level space here unless you don't think you'll need the elevator.

(This was done to an entire group of storage areas.) This meant moving some of my stored and neatly arranged items out of the storage area while they were working and then moving them back into the storage area wherever they fit as some of the space was taken up by the new door. I was only called after it was all done to get a key for another lock. I questioned whether there could have been theft or items broken during this remodel. The owner didn't care. I asked why I wasn't notified about what they were going to do. He said they had the right to do the remodel without my knowledge. Another time they didn't have a digital copy of my rent agreement so they locked me out of my storage area until they got a digital agreement signed from me, even though I was paid up and had the hard copy I originally signed. I also second all reviews about frequent and 10% + rent increases. Oh and don't forget to give them a timely copy of your rental insurance agreement each year as they will slap a fee on for insurance without any second warning. This is not a criticism of the staff which I didn't have any problems with. In summary, you and your possessions are beholden to storage areas, who can raise rents and do whatever they want. They more or less hold your precious possessions for ransom.

I don't rent very often and when I do it is usually a truck for moving. I was in between…read moreapartments and had to rent a truck twice, once to move from apartment to storage and another time to move from storage to apartment...You get the idea. My first experience here was really easy, the truck was $39.99 + Tax and suited all my needs. There was some confusion over my method of payment, they authorize a card for $250 for deposit then you get charged after the rental is returned for whatever the cost is plus mileage, gas, etc. The $250 then gets put back on your card, well in my case they accidentally charged my card, luckily they were able to refund it and there was really no harm done. My second experience was just as easy, I asked for the same thing I had a month ago and there was no questions asked. Once I payed I notice the rate is suddenly $49.99 + Tax. There is no price listing I can find on the web site and when I asked about the change I was told they just moved their rates on the 1st of the month. Seemed a little fishy to me especially since it was May 1st and I was specific in asking for the same thing I just had less than 30 days ago. I would think at the time i was filling out paper work before actually renting the truck someone would have mentioned, "Hey, by the way our rates changed starting this month and it is different from your last rental". I didn't really feel valued as a customer who came back twice in a month to rent equipment and was a little upset I wasn't informed about the change in price. I guess I will stick to my normal process for renting when I need to...Cheapest Option Wins.
