I am commenting on their u-haul franchise, which they offer in addition to storage. I have not used their storage. I have rented a u-haul from them two times. I've rented many u-haul trucks in my life. This is by far the worst location. Biggest thing: Stop misrepresenting mileage and changing contracts after I signed it. It is stealing. I should pay for the miles I drive only. They may drive the truck between customers, and then they bill the next customer for those miles. I signed a contract with the correct starting mileage. Next day, I get an email with a different, lower starting mileage, and got charged for miles driven before I picked up the truck. Like, I have a copy of a contract that I signed at their shop, with correct starting mileage. Next day, they have charged my credit card based on a lower starting mileage, which means I pay for miles I did not drive.
I tried to ask about this before renting a second time, since they charged for extra miles last time I used them. The woman working yesterday first said, "Oh I cannot change that starting mileage." I asked how she could possibly complete a contract with incorrect information, why couldn't she make the starting mileage reflect the actual starting mileage? No answer. Then she manually wrote a contract and put the real starting mileage. This meant nothing, because the next morning's emailed receipt showed a different and lower, incorrect starting mileage. This is the second and final time I will use this shop: dishonest, truck not swept clean when I picked it up both times, and paperwork never ready. Should not take 25 minutes to pick up a truck. I have walked into another local u-haul franchise (the one closest to BMO in Eagan) without any reservation, and asked if they had a truck available right then for two hours, and was in and out within ten minutes. They also say you cannot leave your car when you pick up a u-haul. You have to park your car around the block on the street. They said that if I leave my car in the u-haul parking lot, "it might get blocked in by trucks overnight" (?) even though I was in a valid parking spot. BTW, when I returned the truck later that night, there was absolutely no one parked in the lot at all. I then walked back around the block to get my own car off the street. I never pay for the "insurance" when renting a u-haul, except from this shop because I don't trust them, based on my experience renting a truck from them. read more
