Because traffic was heavy on highway 61, my car was idling in the path of the electric gates. There were people in front of and in back of me so I couldn't get out of the way. No big deal, right? By law, automatic gates require a safety feature that prevents people/objects from being crushed. Not this one. They removed the electric eye because it "kept opening" according to the owner, and my car was crushed, causing $2000 worth of damage. The witchy receptionist lady was rude from the first minute I called. No one answered the "emergency" number, which makes me wonder what was happen if the place was on fire or something. She called me back 2 days later, saying that it was my fault, and that there are signs saying that there is an electric gate. Huh? Does that excuse your faulty system? I finally got her to agree to have her boss call me back. He wouldn't give me their insurance information. When he finally did, he lied about what happened and they denied my claim, costing me a $500 deductible. Awful place, terrible customer service, dumpy storage units. Spend a few extra bucks and get a decent place with people who know how to provide customer service.

I rented a 20x40 tent for a party we had. Now, I have worked in customer service for many years, and my husband owns his own business. It is one thing to have rules and to enforce them but it's also another thing to just flat out treat your customers poorly. Upon pick up, my husband was told to initial the receipt for verification of pick up. Never once was he told to read the contract for rental regulations but just for verification of pick up. Of course he grabbed the receipt and folded it up and off he went. When returning the tent today he was told my card would be charged $20 for putting the stakes and ropes in the bag. My husband stated that he apologized and he dumped the huge bag out, took out all the stakes and ropes and put all the poles back in the bag and even counted everything right in front of the man, all the while, being treated very rudely and even listening to the man argue with another customer on the phone and be rude to that person. After he was done he was told I was still being charged the $20. Two things, when you as the business have a customer sign and there are important rules in what they are signing, I call it common courtesy to point out the major highlighted rules and explain to the customer to read the "contract" thoroughly, not mislead them by stating they needed to "initial the receipt for verification of pick up". Also, he told my husband the $20 was for having to unpack the bag and count the ropes and stakes, so my husband did it for him AND he stood there watching knowing he was going to still charge the $20. I say this is just wrong and it's not about the $20 but about the pure principal that nothing was damaged or missing and my husband corrected the issue for the guy so he would have to. I mean, in owning a business ourselves we bend and accommodate when things are in a grey area, we even go above and beyond to make sure our customers are happy. We NEVER argue and talk down to our customers. I am outraged by the pure disrespect this man gave my husband and the other customer he was rude to on the phone. Besides the fact my husband initialed it and in the fine print it said don't put stakes and ropes in bag-fine, we should have read the fine print, fine, he helped the guy fix the issue, why not just tell him to leave and charge the card? Why not enforce your rules by being pleasant. You don't need to be a jerk to get your point across. I mean, had he noticed and pulled over to remove the ropes and stakes prior to coming into the store this would be a non issue. He correct the problem in the parking lot but we are still being charged? This is wrong and the guy should not be in customer service. We would fire an employee for treating our customer this way. But clearly Ruddy's Rental doe not care how they portray themselves or their brand, it's all about the dollar. Way to be Ruddy's, Way to be. And let's not even mention they had already charged me a $16.58 damage waiver so in essence they are getting me for $36.58 for us transporting the ropes and stakes incorrectly. We rent from Isanti rental all the time and we are never nickle and dimes and treat in a bad manor. And trust me, we will be sure to take all future business back there.

Pros: -1 My slot was originally at 8:30a, but with days notice I needed to start earlier, and they were able to move it up to 8am. 2- Each individual I spoke to on the phone when setting up the appointment seemed patient, was helpful, and never came off pushy like movers can (at times). 3- The 3 guys sent were overall respectful. The lead seemed to have his stuff together and knew what he was doing, the other two (who he said were newer) weren't as efficient, but again respectful. Cons: 1- Service was from 8a-11a for the equivalent of a studio. 2- They came 15mins late, the commute between the two locations should have been 15mins but ended up being 30 because they had to stop for gas. Unfortunately when they arrived a garbage truck was now blocking the loading dock so that added another 10mins, and another 5-10mins was lost because toward the end of the job I went to my car and when I returned the lead mover was just standing outside the unit because "the door was locked", which it wasn't. He just didn't use his muscle to push open. So in all, over 45mins of wasted time, which costed me. 3- When I questioned their timing, I was told it's because I had a lot of boxes. To be fair, I did, but they were mainly smaller boxes (like for shipping). If anything i think they dragged their feet to milk the time which is very unscrupulous. 4- Their failure to used a door stopper in the beginning resulted in the unit door being scratched, which one guy tried to convince me was there before . FALSE! Anyway, the damage was shared with CMM, but there was never follow-up. Ultimately, maintenance repainted it. 5- Despite boxes being labeled for the rooms they belonged in, they paid little attention. For example those for kitchen in bedroom. 6- I ended up having to help move the dresser since it wasn't placed where I requested. By the time it was realized 2/3 of guys were at the truck and lead asked if I could help. Since I was paying for the service I would have rather not, but it was easier than having to do it alone later. Perhaps I should send them an invoice. 7- Before they took off, I wanted to just to take a peak at the back of the truck to ensure nothing was left behind. The reception to that request was odd. I mean whats the big deal?! Ultimately I went and ensured. 8- In all the delays costed me and I paid about $300-$400 more than anticipated. Funny thing is the lead kept stressing the whole gratuity thing at the end. I gave them each $20 and the look I got seemed like it wasn't enough. It instantly left me wishing I had given ZERO. My last thing which is more of a suggestion, CMM should consider investing in tees or some branded merch for their staff. Having guys show up in sneaker, crocs, and street clothes really didn't provide a professional look which yes, is possible for movers.
