Acme bread is my favorite bread in the Bay Area. Go-to is the sour batard or sour baguette, but their sandwiches are also amazing. Beware, their bread turns very hard after a day or two, but you can warm it back up in the microwave with a bit of water.

This bakery has some of the best sourdough bread in the world. The baguettes are thin and basically perfect. If you want to find an example of sourdough perfection, this is it. My wife has been a sourdough baker for years and she makes great batards like many other bakeries in San Francisco, however, if you want the ideal baguette, this is the spot. The sandwiches are to die for and they even have pizza.

Another really amazing spot I tried the herb slab which is really good customer service here is friendly and nice Service is quick and the food was delicious I kept tearing off a piece of bread to eat some during lunch Ambiance is whatever's it's really nice layout they have all the bread infront of you so you know what ingredients it has in it in case you're allergic to any of the ingredients inside of it and it's super delicious and tasty goes well with butter or even sandwiches

ACME bread is definitely top for me. Love their baguettes and batards. Got a fresh loaf and service is quick and easy.

I'm writing this review specifically about my experience with one individual employee during my visit about five minutes ago. When I arrived, this young employee was looking at his phone. There was no greeting or even a simple "Hi," and I was the only customer there at the time. I clearly gave him my order and asked if it could be packed in individual bags. Instead of simply explaining the bag policy, he raised his voice and told me that I would be charged for the bags. I honestly have never been charged for bags here before, but I would have been completely fine paying if that was the policy. It was the way it was communicated that made me uncomfortable. I also added two sandwiches to my bread order. He gave me an attitude again and asked me repeatedly my sandwich name because the rainbow sandwich was seasonal. I understand that seasonal items may not always be available, but there was no need for the unfriendly attitude. I usually visit this place once or twice a month and spend at least $80 on bread each time. I genuinely love this place and especially love their bread. The other employees have always been welcoming and pleasant, which is why this experience stood out so much. I'm not looking to complain about the store or the policies--I simply hope the employee can understand that customers deserve to be treated with basic courtesy and respect.

Acme Bread earned their stars, this place lives up to all the hype. On a normal weekday Acme is one of the only few shops in the Ferry Building that opens before 8 AM. Which makes it a perfect destination for early risers. As their name states, they're obviously known for their bread. The cheddar chive biscuit was flavorful but a bit dry. Their olive roll on the other hand was to die for. I highly recommend you grabbing one while walking around the Embarcadero. What was a surprise however was their assortment of pastries. A bread shop that doubles as a bakery? That's a deadly combination. I also grabbed an almond croissant just to try and went into it with no expectations. Surprisingly it rivals and sits at number two on my list for Almond croissants. It was not overly sweet and the marzipan was just the right amount. It was one of the best surprises for my early day. Last but not least the gentleman at the counter was a true gentleman. Addressed us by sir and miss along with delivering top notch service. It made me excited to know that if I was ever early for work, Acme would be a nice treat before heading into the office. I look forward to my next visit here through the Ferry Building.

One of few businesses opened in the Ferry Building on Christmas Eve. Got the jalapeño cheese turnover - which was decent, but would not be getting again due to price (not unexpected due to SF). The pastry was decently flakey, the jalapeños were very mild and soft (in texture as well), cheese was a little goopy due to being room temp. Maybe I'll try something else next time.

Growing up, Acme bread was a treat. My mom sometimes got it at Costco if we were hosting people--otherwise, generic bread tended to be more common in our household. It's fresh and yummy. Service is good. Now that I live in SF, I come to Acme more and still think it's a treat. I love their olive bread. Other items are good plain, with butter, or with cheese. Can't go wrong!

I love acme bread especially their sourdough. It's the perfect amount of sourness. It always has a flavorful and crispy crust with a soft and fluffy inside. Their sandwich rolls are soft and fluffy with a layer of sesame seeds on top.

Seasonal fruit cardamom cake

The pastries here are disappointing, but the baguettes and sweet batard are quite good. I got the seasonal fruit cardamom cake, which was not good at all. The cardamom didn't go well at all with the seasonal fruit at that time, and it was overall not a good combination of flavors. I do like acme's sweet baguettes, which my mom also buys at Safeway. They have a good airy interior and crunchy exterior and a nice flavor.

Great sourdough bread options. Fair prices and fast service Loved the cheese roll and go sit outside

Acme Bread is the absolute BEST! I'm not able to make it to the Ferry Building location as often as I'd like to, but when i do, tearing off a fresh piece from a pan epi or a sourdough baguette is the perfect way to enjoy the backdrop of the Bay!

Nothing beats acme in person but if needed - good egg

We visited in the late afternoon. There is still a good collection available! Snatched up two Epi baguettes, one for a friend one for ourselves. It is perfect, restaurant quality, perfect moisture and softness. You can see all the rolls, slabs and baguettes available. It is always a must visit in the ferry building. Line moves quickly, staff is helpful. The display is nice, love how they lay the bread out. Highly recommend. Reminds me of nice bakeries in Europe. It is a long term local company. A treasure of the Bay Area.

Due to scheduling, I wasn't able to arrive until an hour before closing on a Friday which meant many of the items were sold out. When I arrived, there was a line so I had my buddy drop me off while he found parking. In retrospect, I should have had him drive around the block a few times as the line moved fast and there wasn't much to choose from. Since we both didn't know how quick the transaction would be, he figured out the metered parking, which was a feat in and of itself, and when he was walking over to the bakery, I was done with pastries in hand. Only one customer is allowed in the narrow shop at a time while the other customers queue up waiting to be signaled to step forward. As for seating, there is none so no one hangs around. Of the croissants remaining, I ordered all of them: Chocolate Almond Croissant - full of almond paste and chocolate, you could share this one, but why? This was my favorite. Almond Croissant - very good Kouign-amann - good sized While you can't enjoy the warm croissants with coffee at the shop, my buddy and I tucked in as soon as we got into the car. Good thing we carry a vacuum to clean up all the crumbs.

It took about 20 minutes to get to the front, which wasn't too bad. We had the potato mushroom, caramel apple, pistachio and plain croissants. The mushroom potato was one of the best savory croissants we have ever had. The Apple croissant tasted like apple pie. There is no seating in the bakery. I hadn't had a traditional one yet this year, so that was a plus for me. Normally I'm not crazy about the nut moon cakes, but this one was terrific! It was the best moon cake I've had in a while - regular lotus seed with yolk and nuts. The lady at the bakery reminded me of an "auntie" and she was super friendly! Even though today was moon cake, I took a chance and asked if she had any wife cake (Low Po Behng). Unfortunately she didn't, but we had a nice little conversation in Cantonese and it brought me back to childhood and Chinatown in L.A. back in the day. Some people might not like that it's closed (I think that's when she runs out or isn't baking that day) but that's just how it goes. It's nothing personal if someone drives a long way and it's closed. It sounds like sometimes the lines can be long (There was no line for us today - score!) but it's everyone's choice if they're willing to wait or not. It's a little place and you order through the door. To me, that just adds to the quirky adventure of it all. Next time I hope she has Low Po Behng!

(i sound like an american health influencer...oh wait i am american). anyway they're a bit too sweet but the frangipane tastes good. the plain one is boring in a bad way. pain suisse is okay too. it's ironic that their best croissants are the day-old ones since they are twice baked with frangipane pumpkin bread was pretty good! again a bit too sweet but spice and pumpkin came in strong like pow pow. bostock was good too - my first time. again a twice baked pastry except it's brioche and the syrup is passionfruit. the fruit flavor was slight but i wish it was stronger. super interesting to eat though i also wish that the heat and freshness of the pastries didn't vary so wildly. some days they're cold as frozen peas and other days they're nice and crispy and warm and fluffy and fireplace-y and hot-mug-y. sorry i have a lot of wishes. unfortunately big B may not be able to satisfy them. i wish i can go back to try the black sesame one but i'm too broke and i have an astronomically low attention span so i can't wait in line
