Many of the most valuable and useful reviews on Yelp detail how a company handles itself when things go wrong. This is most certainly that sort of review. For those of you who want the punchline upfront, Ace is a trustworthy company that stands behind the quality of their work and their reputation for being a reliable company. You will not go wrong choosing them for your roofing needs. Ace's owner, Jason Wright, is a man of his word and can be fully trusted with something as vital and expensive as your roof. Our relationship with Ace started on a very high note on the weekend between Christmas and New Years Day. We noticed some shingle blowoffs after a rough storm and left messages with a bunch of local roofing companies to see if anyone could come out to look at the roof. Given that it was a holiday weekend we had very little expectation that someone would come out, but one of Ace's project managers was on our roof the very next day putting the shingles back up. The same gentleman, who had a natural gift with customer service, advised us that we should contact our insurance company as there was clear hail/wind damage and he thought we could easily get a claim approved. Turned out he was right and our insurance company approved a full replacement less than a week later. After getting more than five bids on the roof, Ace's guy brought us an exceedingly good offer. I mean so seriously good that I had a call with my desk adjuster to make sure I wasn't inadvertently going to do something to irritate my insurance company. Literally every upgrade you could want, great warranty terms, and for a price that was extremely competitive. As we walked around the house looking at the roof Ace's project manager even noted a couple of related, but non-roofing items that they could throw in to the offer for free. We were seriously impressed and after doing some due diligence, we signed a contract with Ace. We were happy. Beyond happy. Thus began the FIVE MONTH wait to get out roof done. Thankfully, our roof was not leaking. To be fair, half of the wait was that the weather simply wouldn't cooperate. Even so, when the weather was good we kept get put-off by the previously incredible project manager. Delays in materials. Over-run in time on another job. Ignored texts, ignored voicemails, ignored emails. Scheduled meets that went unmet with zero phone or text notice. After starting off so incredibly strongly, Ace was operating with the sort of BS behavior you would expect from a fly-by-night roofing guy in an out-of-state truck. We finally had enough and contacted Ace directly and asked them what on Earth was happening. The owner of the company replied nearly immediately and informed us that they weren't even aware of our existence or our contract. Turns out that the incredible project manager had been having some personal problems and had signed several contracts completely on his own terms without properly notifying the company. He then effectively had an issue that took him out of play altogether along with his non-filed contracts. We figured maybe we were back to square one in terms of finding a roofer, but Ace's owner, Jason Wright, called and asked to come out to meet with us. He came to our house and listened patiently to our story. He took ownership of the situation, he sincerely apologized, and he pledged to fulfill the contract that nobody else at the company had even been aware of before that meeting. In addition, he gave us an additional discount to help make up for our trouble, despite the fact that the contract was already very generous. It took a few more weeks due to weather and having to shoehorn our unexpected job in to the company's already super-packed schedule, but we now have a beautiful new roof and whole house gutter system. The quality of the work looks great and the work crews were incredibly fast and professional. Jason came out regularly throughout the install days to make sure we were happy and that the work was proceeding smoothly. He also came out personally to touch up the paint on the roof to make the install picture perfect. Most of Ace's other reviews demonstrate a company that does high-quality work and handles routine situations with professionalism and aplomb. Our experience with them, particularly with Jason, is that they also know how to gracefully handle things when everything goes wrong. We will be calling them again with any future roofing needs and we give them our absolute strongest recommendation. read more

If you have a problem with your roof, without any hesitation I recommend you call ACE Roofing and definitely ask to talk to Bill Spauer. ACE Roofing is so smart to have a guy like Bill Spauer on their team. Bill is professional, knowledgeable, capable, skilled, reliable, and also really kind. Bill is the type of person who sticks by his word and completely over delivers. Bill Spauer is a problem solver and I had a roofing problem that needed to be solved. Also, my roofing problem needed to be solved in a very timely manner; I am closing on a house in just a few days and I needed a roofing repair completed as part of my sales agreement. I had had another company lined up to complete the work; which was really just a small repair. This other company dropped the ball; they kept pushing my repair date back because of rain and other reasons they gave me; basically time was running out for me to get the job done. Well, I clearly needed a professional to step in and on Sunday evening I called 3 roofing companies. I left messages with all 3 companies and Bill Spauer of ACE Roofing was the only one to call back. Bill actually called me back within a half hour. I thought it was sort of funny because he actually apologized to me for calling so late on a Sunday evening; I told him: "I couldn't be happier that he did call me back!!" I explained the job to Bill, not even mentioning the real bind I was in, and he said: "I am going to take care of this for you and I can do it on Tuesday." I actually had the nerve to ask if it was possible for him to do it on Monday instead, which, by the way was the Columbus Day holiday! He said, he cannot guarantee Monday, but if he could fit it in, he would. He made a point to say he gave me his word to have the repair done on Tuesday, even if it was raining. So, the next day, on Monday afternoon, you guessed it, I heard from Bill! Bill text messaged me pictures of my roof and the repair was completed! He also promptly emailed me a detailed description of the work he completed so I could provide proof as part of my sales agreement. As a side note, it was raining and Bill still got on the roof and did the work!! Bill Spauer completely over delivered and he provided the repair as a courtesy; he did not charge me! Who does that?...I will tell you who; a really awesome company called ACE Roofing who has a really awesome guy named Bill Spauer working with them!! As I write this review I have two thoughts I want to share; one thought is that I have never felt compelled to write an online review and I never have written one until now. I am writing this review because I want others in the Austin area to know ACE Roofing really is an ACE of a company!! The second thought I have is that I often work with very professional contractors and by far Bill Spauer outshines the rest; not only because he got the job done and did it well, but because working with Bill has reminded me of all that is good in a world that can often seem full of controversy and strife. When you work with ACE Roofing and Bill Spauer, I can pretty much guarantee your faith in humanity will be strengthened...if not completely restored! This definitely has been my experience! I purchased a house a few years ago and unfortunately, it had never had any roof work done. After 20 years of getting pounded by Texas weather, one windy day blew off one of the gas vent caps. I knew it was time to have the roof inspected and out of 3 roofing companies contacted, Ace was the only one to get back to me - and that happened quickly. Tyler was able to squeeze me in the next day and just happened to have a vent cap that he replaced while we waited for the insurance adjuster to be assigned to my claim (especially helpful since it rained a couple days later). Tyler inspected the roof and was easily able to determine that it was going to be a total replacement and walked me through the claims process. I filed a claim with my insurance company and was contacted by a local adjuster. I forwarded his info on to Tyler and Tyler set up a time to meet with him and perform a joint inspection. The adjuster agreed with Tyler's assessment and they went over the minute details to ensure that the insurance cost analysis took into account everything that it would take to repair the roof. I had recently had gutters/screens installed and they installed them over part of the roof. This meant that Ace would have to remove screens, the flashing, and then reinstall after the new shingles were on. Tyler made absolutely clear that this would need to be included in the insurance assessment and the adjuster agreed. Tyler scheduled the repair for a few days later and the crew arrived promptly and early in the morning. I was impressed when what seemed like a small army arrived (there must have been 10-15 guys) and from the time they got on the roof to the time they finished cleaning everything up (including sweeping the perimeter with magnets) it was only 7 hours. They laid down tarps all around the house and covered the pool as well, which was greatly appreciated. Tyler dropped by occasionally to check on the guys and make sure things were going well. The insurance company tried to cheap out on us and would only pay for the replacement of the damaged vent caps, but Tyler was able to find some wiggle room and they were able to replace the two decade old vents, not just the caps, at no additional cost to me. This highlights Ace's commitment to getting the job done correctly so it would only need to be done once, a commitment not shared by the insurance company but much appreciated by this homeowner. It is hard to describe how refreshing it is not to have a company nickel and diming me on things like this like so many others have in the past (looking at you plumbers/electricians/contractors). Ace's responsiveness, Tyler's professionalism, and the crew's skill and speed made a crappy situation as pleasant as possible. The roof looks great and I am confident that we won't have any issues with it...and if we do, Ace will take care of it quickly. It is tough to find solid companies to handle these kinds of things as Austin's demand allows for some companies to be shady, unresponsive, and hard to deal with. Not so with Ace. If you have any issues with your roof, don't hesitate to call Ace. Tyler was awesome and even though I didn't have any interaction with the other guys, I am sure they are also as squared away. I actually had my roof repaired in September 2015 but finally got around to this. Insurance claim from one of our famous hail storms earlier in the year. Got about 3 bids and Tyler's/Ace's was one of them. The rest of this review can be shortened to two things: 1) the crew was good, these guys were skilled and thorough and did a great job in 2 days. 2) Tyler is awesome. Very awesome. I'm a 30 year homeowner used to sniffing out crooks, greaseballs, and liars. I have to say at our very first meet-up I wasn't sure what to make about Tyler. The reasons for this are first, he is one of the smartest guys I've seen in any type of sales, and second, he seemed too good to be true. I'm very cautious and suspicious naturally, so I wasn't sure what to make of things. But after a second phone meeting, Tyler was just as good and was patient with me as I "came around" from skepticism to appreciation. Tyler is so "good" because he knows a lot about the construction process, but maybe moreso he's incredibly skilled with dealing with insurance companies and all the crap they can throw at you, but maybe the best trait he has is his ability to converse on an empathetic level. I mean this guy knows what concerns you might have and addresses them incredibly well. He puts up with "dumb" questions and is patient, upbeat, outgoing, and at least in this phase of his career, actually seems to enjoy his work. Tyler is a natural, gifted salesman, and this might bring up bad connotations of a slick, smooth-talking car salesman, but Tyler is completely not that. He is honest, sincere, and has a lot of energy which he naturally devotes to giving the customer the best. Tyler was one of the best people I ever encountered who knows how to answer a question thoroughly and directly. I rarely had more "chain questions" from the first. Tyler allowed me to get by far the best, most efficient use of my claim I could have ever imagined. No other company was this good (and some were okay) at putting me at ease with the entire roofing process, probably the biggest homeowner cost hit after the mortgage itself. I highly recommend Ace for your roofing process. I know they have a few other reps, but the fact that Tyler enjoys working there is good enough for me to recommend the entire company. I called Ace Roofing Company, as well as two other local roofing companies, after I discovered water leaking through my living room ceiling. Tyler Dean Lawson from Ace Roofing came out the next day and found the source of the leak (cracked caulking around metal vents in the roof). He took pictures of my roof to show me, fixed the leak for free and did a thorough inspection. After educating me on the structure and health of my roof, he offered several options for me, including the option of not replacing anything for another year or two. It was very refreshing to hear that the roof was essentially fixed and that it was a reasonable option to replace it in the future. My husband and I decided to replace the roof and gutters anyway, and everything went incredibly smoothly. Compared to the other two companies that offered me bids on roof replacement, Ace Roofing Company was BY FAR the most professional and attentive. Tyler Dean Lawson stayed in contact and anticipated questions I would have. He made everything so easy by providing information to me before my questions ever came up. The other companies I spoke with also had great reviews on Yelp, but the contractors who came to my house were disorganized, distracted and under-motivated. I chose to work with Ace Roofing Company because of the attention, expertise and professionalism that was reflected in the work that Tyler Dean Lawson put into winning my business, in spite of the bid from Ace Roofing Company being (very slightly) higher than the others. Another thing that I liked about the Ace Roofing bid process is that Tyler sat down with me and broke down the cost of EVERYTHING involved in the job and explained the cost completely. Back in February, my 17 year old roof started leaking water into my bedroom and was coming thru the ceiling. Called Brad at Ace Roofing, as he was the only one in three roofing companies that called me back, and he said he would come out.. He came out and tarped the roof where the leak was and advised me to call my insurance company as it could have been from wind damage. Brad also took the time to come out and meet with the insurance company at the time of the appointment. Even though they ended up denying the claim (ended up more as poor workmanship from my home builder than wind damage), Brad's efforts were greatly appreciated. He gave me options on repairing the problems or replacing the entire roof. He answered all my questions and didn't pressure me in either direction. After considering my options, I did not see any reason to sink any more money in a 17 year old roof, so I had them schedule a roof replacement. Brad worked with me on the date and told me if I had it done on a Saturday that he could bring in some extra people and probably finish it in one day. He came out on the scheduled date as promised and finished the entire roof in one day. His crew was attentive and hard working. Other than a quick lunch I don't think I ever saw them not working. Brad came out during the job to make sure everything was going alight and to address any of my questions. When the roof was done they did a great job of cleaning up from the job. They actually left my house in better shape than when they got there and even cleaned my gutters out for me! I can't say enough about the professionalism of Brad and his crew. We recently took over ownership of an historic building in East Austin that has had patchwork repairs done on the roof from previous storm damage. When the roof began to leak I remembered Tyler because he came to give the previous owner of the building a quote for a new roof a few years prior. I gave him a call and he came by the next day. He remembered the building and even had records from a previous repair he had done (not where the new leak was happening). He said he could patch the leak but because of the damage to the roof we should file a claim and have the roof replaced. Tyler met the adjuster and the adjuster agreed that a new roof was in order. It turned out the deductible was less than the cost to patch the roof. I signed a few papers and I was sent a check. It took a few weeks for the work to get started due to all of the rain we have been having but when the crew did show up they were so polite, friendly and efficient. You could tell that they were a great group of guys that enjoyed working together. We have a large building and it was a big job that took two full days. We had a small scheduling conflict and had an art showing in the building on the same evening that we were having the repairs made. The crew worked really hard to have the area around the entrance all clean and tidy so the arriving guests didn't have to walk around debris. Tyler checked in on the crew a few times everyday to make sure things were moving along smoothly. And when the job was complete I doubt there is so much as a stray nail on the property. Tyler and his crew made the whole process so easy. From working with the insurance company to having contractors on the property. The whole experience what not at all what I expected. We just went through two major storms of 3+ inches of rain and we could not be any more pleased with the functionality and look of our new roof which was replaced by Ace Roofing. I discovered a small leak on our covered front porch and got nervous because that same portion of roof also covers an interior section of our home. I called the roofing company who put on the existing roof 18 years ago. They would have been glad to replace it, but I was surprised by the high quote and decided to get an additional quote. After considering online reviews, I called Ace Roofing. Bill came out to our house quickly, and at a very convenient time. Upon inspecting our roof, Bill said that I would be doing myself an extreme disservice if I didn't have our insurance company inspect our roof for hail damage. Bill pointed out damage, including pock marks on the roof that left very clean spots on mildewed sections (thus the damage was recent). I've never made an insurance claim before and had no idea where to start with a claim. Bill suggested for me to call our insurance company and told me to tell them the truth, that the roof is 18 years old, but appears to have hail damage. Our insurance company assigned an adjuster who arranged to meet Bill our house. In this meeting, Bill had the opportunity to insure that the adjuster saw what he saw. Fortunately, the adjuster agreed with Bill and recommended a new roof. Not only did Ace Roofing replace our roof. Within the insurance quote, Ace Roofing was able to upgrade us to better quality and much more attractive singles than we previously had. Ace Roofing Company is amazing! I needed some shingles repaired after the big storms that came through over Memorial Day weekend. I spent over an hour one day calling multiple roofing companies and only heard back from 3; Ace Roofing was one of those companies. Tyler was so personable and friendly on the phone, and we set up a time for him to come evaluate the damage. He was on time for the appointment and after inspecting the areas of damage as well as my entire roof, he sat down and explained everything that needed to be done. I was impressed with his presentation as well as everything that was going to be included with the repairs. I spoke with Tyler the next day and explained that I wasn't comfortable spending what he quoted me but definitely wanted to use his company. He quickly came down to a price that was the same as another quote I had received, and informed me that it would be repaired the next day if not today! Oscar came the next morning, notified me he would be working on the roof, and efficiently followed-through on everything Tyler had promised. I know it seems sad that I was impressed that a company actually did what they said they would do, but it doesn't happen very often. The next week Tyler called to check on the repair. I was replacing my roof due to some water damage. I met with a few contractors and was just not feeling it, until I met with Lane Wilson. I wanted to upgrade from my current asphalt shingles to a standing seam metal roof and how to best vent for those long hot summers, which one of the other contracts said I could not do. Lane was able to guide me through the process and help me stay within my budget. I signed the contract that day. I met with Lane the day the crew was starting the job. He turned over his project to Tyler Dean Lawson, as he would be handling his projects while Lane was headed for a family vacation the following day. The job took about two and a half days and let me tell you, these guys work. The second day, they started at 7am and didn't finish until almost 9pm that night only to start the final day at 7am again. Not many contract crews I know of pull these kind of hours. The day they finished, I met with Tyler that evening to go through the job and make sure everything met with my satisfaction, which it more than did. The following day I received a call from Lane, while on his family vacation, to make sure I was completely satisfied. How many companies do you know who check in with their clients while they are on a family vacation. I have only had one and it is Ace Roofing. I love my new metal roof and look forward to enjoying it for many, many years. I highly recommend Ace Roofing. You can tell a lot about the integrity of the company by their people. About two months ago we had Ace Roofing come out to assess a leak in our roof. Tyler was ridiculously helpful, and when he came to assess the damage decided that we had enough problems that our insurance company would probably agree to replace the roof entirely. When the adjuster came out, Tyler went up on the roof with him, and within the hour, we were getting a new roof. Tyler arranged it so that literally the next day he had his crew here and they managed to completely demo the old roof and replace it within a single day. It was unbelievable! During the demo they even found places of the plywood that had rotted over the years that had just been covered over by the previous roof. Tyler and his crew cut out and replaced all of the rotted areas for no extra charge. Since the new roof was installed, we have had more rain in Austin than I have ever seen in my 29 years of living here, and we haven't had a single problem. Without this roof, we would have had some serious flooding. I honestly cannot recommend Tyler and his team enough. We just had a remodel done in our house, and I've had my fair share of dealing with contractors lately. Tyler Dean is by far the most easy to work with and helpful contractor in Austin. Even with his busy schedule he was always available during the process to answer questions. He made the whole thing so easy. If you have any roof damage, or need any roofing done at all. This has been a long time coming. Coby and Candice from Ace Roofing were a joy to work with during our roof replacement in January. Talk about going above and beyond. They did my whole roof replacement after my 6 year old bitumen roof started bubbling. We went with the a white TPO roof and could not be happier with the results. In the process we found that we had a leak and suspected a separate metal roof was the problem. They helped us out to keep costs down with a deeply discounted replacement of the metal roof, if we did the two jobs art the same time. We were in contact with Candice during the contract negotiations and the whole replacement period. She was incredibly communicative, kept us informed of the progress, and sent us daily pictures of the progress. This was incredibly comforting as we were in The Netherlands during the whole time. After it was all done they even offered to replace a gutter spout that had fallen off before the job started due to heavy rains. This was awesome as the gutter was three stories up and hard to get to as a DIY project, phew! A few weeks after the job was done, we had heavy rains again and lo and behold, my leak around the metal roof was still there. Ace Roofing and Candice worked with us, at no cost, to make sure it was not a problem with the metal roof they had just replaced. Glad to say it was not. I have to say, I have worked with a number of contractors but the workmanship, communications, and willingness to help of both Candice and Coby made working with them a joy and I would recommend them in a heartbeat. read more

I found Ace Roofing Company on Yelp. Candice Carbone came out to my house. She was not only sweet, she knew what she was doing. She told me I had hail damage from a storm that had just passed and needed to try and claim it on insurance. Being my first home, this was all very new to me. I contacted the insurance company and an adjuster/inspector came out within the week. Candice made sure she was there to show the adjuster all the problem spots, and they approved the claim. The insurance company had given me a year to put a new roof on. Due to unexpected expenses it took me about 8 months to proceed with the process. During that year my old roof began to leak about 8 months after the claim I made. I contacted Candice and told her about the leak in our roof, she got me on the schedule immediately and they completed the job in one day. I would highly recommend Ace Roofing Company to my friends, family and to anyone I don't know, because I know they are a reliable company. Ask for Candice, she is incredible and very diligent. I could write a longer review about how great the company and Candice are, I was that satisfied with the service. I will not use any other company, but Ace Roofing. Update 9/25/16: My stepdad noticed a couple of gaps between the roof and structure we had built and was worried about rain pushing into the house. I contacted Candice and Ace came out quickly and fixed the issue. It was quick and painless.
