We hired Longhorn Roofing to replace our hail-damaged roof. Eddie did a great job of talking about our options, recommending materials and approaches, and picking a replacement roofing color. He even brought out a couple of packs of roof shingles and got up on the roof to lay them out so that we could decide which we liked best. Tom handled scheduling, and was pleasant and communicated well. The crew showed up exactly when promised. The installation was similarly excellent. The crew came to the house early and worked late to get the job done in just a couple of days. They had folks picking up materials and using magnetic poles to catch nails all around the house from when they started, so the yard was clean. They laid down tarps over bushes to keep any debris from getting on them. We're not roofing experts, but watching them put the new roof up we are very confident in the quality of the work, as they seemed meticulous. In a couple of places they detected rotten wood sheathing and just cut it out and replaced it - no upsell, no discussion, just did the right thing. I took the recommendation of one of my neighbors and called Longhorn Roofing for the recent crazy wind storm. I also reached out to 3-4 other places too because I was afraid of it being a while before things were repaired. Longhorn were the ONLY ones to reach out to me in reply for a tiny patch/repair job. They had me an estimate within 3 days, and the day after I said "let's do it" they were on my roof patching. I know nothing about pricing for jobs like that but I know value when I see it. What they did for us was a lot more than just hammer some shingles. They removed a problem for us that we had no way of fixing ourselves, and they did it quickly and with extreme courtesy. Don't bother calling them. You will be met by a rude receptionist who does nothing but answer the phone and has nothing to do with scheduling, and can't even be bothered to get you in touch with their sales team. When trying to get an estimate for a roof during an option period when purchasing a house, it helps when people can provide schedules and timelines. Not tell me "well, we will get to it". Literal translation means, we don't care, go away! I'll get someone else to look at the roof, and I'll be sure to let my realtor know what happened, so she doesn't refer you to any of her clients again!! Best of luck! read more

I've used Longhorn Roofing twice to put roofs on properties that I own and have recommended them to countless friends and real estate clients. I believe they do use day labor and not employees to put on the roofs, but they have always done an excellent job in a quick manner. I've used them for both 20 and 30-year roofs and both have turned out splendidly (I often get neighbors telling me I have the nicest-looking roof on the block!). I've specifically dealt with Tom Green as my salesperson, and he has always been eager to please when I call. Also, if you're price-motivated, I've always gotten at least 3 estimates when I've had roofs replaced and Longhorn Roofing has always been the lowest bid (and I've always made sure I'm comparing apples to apples in terms of the quality of materials used, what I'm getting with installation, etc). read more

We got hit by one of the major hailstorms that rolled through a week ago. We had our insurance adjuster out first and it turned out that we had sustained enough damage to warrant full roof and gutter replacement. Longhorn Roofing didn't ask if I'd made a claim yet, so I didn't volunteer that information. I figured I'd get a more honest estimate that way. Longhorn Roofing was the first to respond and the first to come out. In hindsight, that should have been a red flag given how swamped all the other roofing companies were in the aftermath of wind and hail. The estimator that came out told me that the roof looked brand new and he didn't think there was enough damage to get *any* sort of claim. Lame. Also wrong. I could see the damage myself - tons of granules on the ground and tons of pock marks that were visible from the second story windows. Some areas may not have been heavily damaged, but others certainly were. I explicitly asked him to send me an estimate anyway and he didn't even bother. Either these schmucks don't know what they're doing or they didn't want my business for some reason. Super lame. read more

True professionals. Tom, Sandy, Jairo and the rest of the Longhorn Roofing team did a great job on my roof. They replaced the decking in 4 places where rot had taken hold. The yard was spotless when they left---amazing, really, considering the mountain of old shingles and debris that was scraped from my 1600 sq ft house. All the work was completed in a day. It was a very hot day. I checked on the workers a few times out of concern for the heat. Impressive. They obviously work as a team and have been doing it for a long time...you know---not a lot of conversation, everybody busy doing their job, knowing what to do. Longhorn Roofing also recommended dimensional shingles to replace plain old 3-tab shingles and the house really pops from the street. I am very happy with the result. Longhorn was recommended to me by a coworker and I still can't still stop thanking them for doing so. I had contacted 3 other roofing contractors prior and Longhorn was the only one that told me the real facts - honest and straight. We had hail damage in the area and all my neighbors went with others, some of which were of the same 3 contractors I contacted. By the time I signed contract I was provided a schedule and work started the next day. My neighbors only had signs in their yards...I had a sign AND a crew on site starting the job. Some of my neighbors still have signs...but no sign of a new roof yet! Only the best materials were recommended. There was no BS sales pitch then a bait and switch for better materials at additional cost. Nothing was a problem. All looks great. All was cleaned up well. Very very pleased. Job well fone. I'm surprised that Longhorn Roofing doesn't have more reviews. We used them about 4-5 years ago to replace our roof and had excellent service. I called them recently to come out and investigate a possible leak and it was refreshing that the same person answered the phone (Tom Green). He sent out his repair guy to come look and his guy was friendly, on time, and awesome. His repair work was even better than expected (and funny enough, it had nothing to do with the roof!). I've since had one more issue that needed to be fixed (we had large trees damage some shingles-- nothing negative with the roof). The same repair guy came out yesterday and was able to email me a quote within 24 hours. The quotes are very reasonable and both Tom and Eddie (the repair guy) have been nothing but professional and honest. I definitely recommend their work! read more

AWESOME!!! I had about 10 different roofers out to give me an estimate so I was about to give up when Longhorn came out. They were honest and noticed things no one else noticed. Also, they charged way less than anyone else did. They worked with us and even wrote letters in order to help us deal with some insurance issues. Tom, the owner, will call you and try to make sure nothing gets forgotten. Orlando, the roofer who does the work, also seems to know a lot about roofing and is very honest as well. If it weren't for him we would still have dry rot issues that even the inspector did not notice. Sandy always helps me on the phone and is very kind as well. I have nothing bad to say- they are great! I am still working with them to get some more work done and I wouldn't trust anyone else. read more

These guys are great, I definitely recommend them for any and all things related to roofs. We bought a new house and had a new metal roof installed. They're bid was very competitive and the workmanship looks great. The inspector that originally looked at our new house before we bought it went back to look at the new roof (out of curiosity) and agreed that it looked great. We ran into a problem selling our old house. Some shingles were blistered and the work looked a little shoddy. The buyer's inspector was concerned. Another out-of-town roofer did the work. I don't recommend Cedar Valley Exteriors. Getting back to Longhorn Roofing, they came out to look at the problem on the old house (free of charge!!!) and discussed all of our options. They even went to bat for us and contacted the shingle manufacturer to get more information about our situation. Bottom line, Longhorn roofing loves what they do and it shows. I had the worst experience of all. The owner of the compay and flat out rude and also one of his workers which i believe is related to him is the same. They first installed the wrong roof and then did a horrible job at the cleanup after the job was done. If I wouldnt have noticed they would have gotten away with a lot cheaper shingles then what they charged me for. I wouldnt recommend them !!! read more

We were victims of the hail storm earlier this year and received 5 other quotes from local roofing companies. It was a full roof replacement w/ new gutters as well. I have to say, from start to finish, Longhorn was the best out of the 5. Their sales team is knowledgable, willing and able to compete for the business with our creeping out the family. And, their office staff is quite possibly the nicest in the entire Austin area. The construction crew they brought in were a little rough around the edges (like all roofing companies), but were extremely efficient with very solid project management and team managers who were onsite the whole job. They show up when they say they are going to and do what they say they will do. You can't go wrong. From my recommendation, they did a neighbor's house behind me and they also had a great experience. I called Longhorn Roofing to see if I could get a roof estimate as my roof is not looking good and they came highly recommended by my realty company. I called and gave my information and they said someone would be calling me to schedule an appointment, but asked if they could see the roof without anyone there to speed up the process. I told them that yes, that would be fine, I just wanted someone to come look at it. I didn't hear from them that week to schedule an appointment so I called on a Friday afternoon to ask if someone was going to come out. The woman said the roofers schedule their own appointments, so she wasn't sure but called to verify for me. It turns out he had gone out that day, but didn't want to get on the roof without my permission so he didn't get on top of the house. I had already given my permission to get on the roof via phone during the initial conversation, but appreciated the forethought and was ok with this. He had called to try to get permission that day, but the admin had written down the number incorrectly so I never got the message. Mistakes do happen so I wasn't upset by this. I gave my correct phone number and was told that he would be out "next Monday" per the roofer. I said great, I'll be sure to stay home and work from home so I can find out what is going on. Monday rolls around and no one ever shows. I figured that "next Monday" had meant the following week, and if not surely they would call to apologize for missing the appointment, right? The next Monday rolls around and no one ever shows either. 12 days after my initial call (now Wednesday afternoon), I called them back to find out if maybe they had come by and just not told me anything. I was told I would get a call back soon, but again never did. I just called again (Thursday afternoon) and I am waiting for a call back, and given that it is almost 5 p.m., I am not expecting that to happen. Even if it does happen, I'm sort of done with all of this back and fourth. As they never actually came out to get on top of the roof and give me a complete analysis, I cannot rate their roofing skills. The admin did tell me that after he walked around the front of the house on the initial visit, it appeared that it could be normal wear, but that was the extent of it. Their communication and scheduling skills need work. I am giving them 2 stars because the woman on the phone was very nice and I have no doubt that she did as she said and let the roofer know that I have been waiting for a call back (on one of the occasions I actually heard her speak with him). I just think the roofer may be too busy to call potential clients, or had other projects that he believes warrant more of his time than calling me back. Either way, 12 days of waiting to hear from the roofer directly just to SCHEDULE an appointment is unacceptable. I understand that these guys are busy, but I would have reacted better to a call directly from the roofer saying that they were very busy and didn't know when they could get to me versus no communication at all. Also, if you say you are going to be there on a certain day, show up or call to cancel, don't just leave the person hanging. I just called someone else my coworker recommended to me and I have an appointment already scheduled early next week; hopefully he shows up. UPDATE 8/14: They did in fact call yesterday but, I was in the shower so I missed the call. They showed up this morning at 8:30 AM, which is great, but I am still not changing the star value and I will explain why. The man showed up and literally said "Hey, I'm from Longhorn Roofing and they told me to come out here." A name, when I have given it countless times when I have called, would have been nice, but I digress. He then asked what the problem was, and I told him about the shingles starting to lift. He said he thought it wasn't too bad and just needed to be stapled again and pointed out a specific area, but that he'd get up and check and let me know if he felt anything else was wrong. I heard him walking on the roof and whatnot and then it stopped. He hadn't come to tell me anything else after I heard the walking stop so after about 10 minutes I went back outside to check on him to see what the final verdict was. To my surprise he was gone. I'm guessing there is nothing wrong with it other than it needs to be stapled again, but I don't really know since he never spoke to me again. And, had it needed to be stapled again (as he says it does), an estimate would have been nice. The man was nice, but I just don't see how this is good customer service. Who wants a company to come out and tell you their initial findings, and then leave without word before telling you their final assessment? Not me, and I don't know anyone else who does. I will be keeping my appointment with another company next week in hopes I can get advice about the situation AND an estimate at the same time. read more

He showed up the first day to get things started and answer any questions. I was also impressed with how patient they were and replaced decking in sections to avoid the loss of any new insulation we had just blown into the attic. A corporate client of mine authorized the replacement of a roof on a property I was managing in Hutto. We received two bids, one from Longhorn and one from a competitor. A month after completion some questions had to be answered and additional paperwork filled out for my clients. I can not say enough wonderful things about my experience with Tom Green, his office staff and the roof. It was a complicated roof and then further complicated by the fact that we owned the house, but the previous owners were leasing back but we had been approved under their insurance prior to closing. He took it all in stride and was so patient. I had a million questions about the shingles/roof/process and he patiently went through each line item on his bid. I called his cell multiple times with questions, etc and he answered 75% of the time and if not, he returned my call within the hour. There were several days of rain a few days prior to our scheduled roof day. He called to communicate that he was keeping a close eye on the rain and would do his best to put roof on scheduled date, but keep his clients in order of scheduling. I appreciated that!
