You are probably sifting through roofing reviews, trying to narrow down the list of companies from which you should request quotes for your new roof. I'll save you a bit of time: include Acura in your list, for sure. I was seeking to replace the original roof on my 2003-built home. It had signs of hail damage...but nothing major; just the accumulation of 20 years of storms. There had been no major event that would be sufficiently bad to justify covering a roof; I was viewing this as 'the roof did its job for 2 decades, it's now end of life, time to bite the bullet and replace it before it develops an acute issue'. This seemed to break the brain of nearly every roofing company I talked to; they kept trying to talk about how they thought they could get he carrier to cover it, all the levers they had to pull to try to make it make sense. It definitely would not make sense with the actual cash value roof endorsement on my policy...but they kept working that line. Some companies were flakes -- no shows, or the person who would show up was clearly some lead generation estimator who would toss his information back to the office to generate a quote days later (..which sometimes never came). This time around (I had done a few quotes 2-3 years ago to figure out what the rough cost to expect), I had good experiences with 2 in particular: Caden Roofing and Acura. I feel like Caden would have done a fine job as well. These two were heads and shoulders above the rest for the experience. The common thread: the person I interacted with in both cases was not some random flaky quote guy, but the owner -- Fareed with Caden, and Patrick with Acura. Both were very educational, low pressure, and -- after I explained that I was not trying to do this via a claim, and just suck it up and pay it out of pocket -- did not continually badger about trying to make a claim fly. Patrick was easy to work with leading up to the job and in selecting the shingle and color (Malarkey Vista, class 4 shingles and Ridgeflex low profile hip/ridge shingles), and the crew the day of was professional. The crew foreman (Ricardo, I believe) was good with regularly communicating and updating on status. This ended up including some close up pictures of rot along the upper parts of my chimney cladding, which led me to tack on some work for them to rebuild the chimney cladding (but in Hardie board this time) and paint it with some paint I procured at Sherwin-Williams (as I already knew the color and paint used on the rest of the house trim). They did a thorough clean up job at the end. A few days after the job, I was in the attic and noticed 2 things: a bit of light where one of our two solar tubes was (making me worry there may be a gap in the flashing around that) and also one of my two solar attic fans seemed to be making a cyclic 'clunk' noise (it was spinning, but slowly). I mailed Patrick, and he called me that same evening (this was a Saturday, even). Sean came out and took a look: the solar tube had shifted a bit and so he fixed that up, but the solar fan...they had noted in their initial quote that one of the two fans may have been inoperable. Acura did not install these fans (a 2012 install by an HVAC company that was later acquired by another company), so they could have told me to pound sand..but Sean went up and detached the fan housing and solar panel from the roof and brought it down to the driveway to look at. It seems that something had failed in the motor housing itself (bearings, maybe?), based on how it sounded up close. We took pictures of the unit and the labels on the back of the panel. I submitted these to Attic Breeze (the solar attic fan manufacturer) and they shipped me a replacement motor the next day! A lifetime warranty paying off, with zero hassle. That's a whole other review, but suffice it to say, I was a fan of Attic Breeze after this interaction. When the replacement parts arrived, I arranged for Sean to come back under an hourly rate to get it down again, have me swap in the parts (it was quick!), and then he reattached it. The replaced fan is happily spinning away (sans clunk) as I type this. The re-roof went well and would merit a strong review, but their assistance with the solar fan (that they did not install / predated them by over a decade) was icing on the cake. read more

Unlike other roofers who tried to up charge me because I live in a nice neighborhood, AR gave me a fair estimate which included a roof inspection and minor repairs. I heard them hammering on the opposite side of the roof that required repairs so I know that they were true about fixing or re-nailing minor issues. This review is a long-time coming - I hired Acura 2 years back to replace a roof WAY past its prime and to do extra work around the chimney where I was experiencing a major leak. The project grew in scope due to the poor condition of the decking and they took several pictures for me to look at before they started anything additional. I wasn't really taken by suprise by any of it I KNEW the decking was going to need help along with the soffits and eaves. They brought in a contractor that they normally work with to problem-solve the chimney and rebuild the exterior of it and try to divert rainwater to avoid future damage. The roof looks really great - my house is such that you mostly see a huge amount of the roof from the front and so I upgraded to architectural shingles and Patrick helped me select what was a perfect color - it is an improvement I appreciate every single day. Patrick is a pleasure to work with. Unfortunately, a year later the same area around the chimney that was leaking previously started up again. I contacted Patrick and he immediatly sent out the contractor who did the original chimney work. The contractor was initially a little incredulous that it was due to anything from his end - but after inspection he was able to discover the issue and he spent a good while reworking the area. It has been a year and it has not given me any trouble since. The take away is that I would highly recommend Acura and I would use them again if needed - they are honest and easy to work with, they are a good value for high quality work, and they will stand behind their work should any future issues arise. read more

I am dealing with my second experience of squirrels in my attic, and the pest control inspector said that most entry points are the result of poor quality roofing. After he got up on my roof Tuesday, he commented on the great quality of the roof, saying that if everyone had roofs of that quality, he would be out of business. He said my roofers had used metal vents and other parts where other companies often use plastic, which is easily chewed through by squirrels. We have worked with Acura for several years on repairs and troubleshooting of a roof that was never put on well by the original builder. It was finally time to replace the roof. We interviewed and received quotes from several companies. Sean was quick to inspect the roof and answering my initial questions before getting a quote. Another point in his favor was his recommendation for my sky lights. I have two large sky lights and their size isn't standard. Patrick planned to measure and replace them with custom made sky lights, rather than try to make a standard size one fit. He measured them several times to get it exact and make sure they were "tight as a tick." During the inspection, he found two areas that two other roofers had pointed out (where squirrels had chewed the covering the plumbing vents) and offered to seal/caulk it for $20 on the spot! Roofing by Stacy Pearson - wanted $225 to redo the covering to three plumbing vents and then put netting and sealant on all 6 of them to prevent it from happening again the future (this was my second best option). Also tried hard to sell me $900 worth of ridge vents on a roof with half or more of it's life gone already. Ace Roofing - $600 to basically do what Roofing by Stacy Pearson was going to do for $225, plus scour the rest of the roof for any other areas that might benefit from resealing. 21st Century Painting and Roofing - Unlike everyone else, they tell me the plumbing vents are perfectly fine, but my chimney cover was redone poorly and in the future it could leak. They wanted to quote me to replace it - I told them don't bother since no one else has even mentioned it, it wasn't a current problem, and it sounded expensive lol. Kanga Roofing - After the appt was scheduled, they called back to tell me they charge $50 for an inspection (she said forgot to mention it to me, which may very well be the truth). I cancelled at that point since I know my roof has no major problems and not looking to invest $50 in just an inspection. read more

We hired Acura roofing to repair our roof in early 2020. We had various leaks and with the rainy season coming we knew it was the time to have it done. Patrick shuffled some things around as rain was on the way and got to our roof withing a couple of days. The crew arrived and began teardown only to find we had major wood damage under the shingles in various spots. The crew stayed on task and in two days we had a complete new roof! Patrick stayed in touch with constant photos and calls so I knew exactly what was happening. His estimate for the roof stayed to what he had quoted with the exception of the wood repair which I was informed of and authorized.
