The Progress Ridge Ace Hardware store has been a life saver for us during the pandemic. The contactless curbside pickup is amazing and I hope-wish they'd keep the service after the pandemic is over. It's so easy to order and pay online, wait a few minutes for the email telling you your order is ready, and jump in your car to pick up outside the store. We've done quite a bit of sprucing up around the house during COVID since there really isn't that much going on these days. Everything from replacing HVAC filters, to buying paint to repaint the master bathroom, to rejoicing when we found hard-to-find batteries for our Christmas tree lights remote, Ace Hardware has been there for us. We buy our bird feeding supplies at Ace too. I love how all the sales people are knowledgeable about REAL hardware items and issues. Like if you have a plumbing question/issue, someone actually knows the answer and has a solution. Truly amazing customer service. It's true, they aren't the cheapest hardware store and don't stock the biggest variety like the Big Box home stores, but they seem to have everything we need when we need it. Sometimes being close by and convenient is worth paying a tad more for. My husband always gets his "$5 off" coupon in the mail every few weeks and that's a plus ($5 is $5!!!) And just a personal note, I realize the pandemic is over for most people but I do wish masks were still required inside stores. One reason we do curbside is because many employees (and customers) aren't being as careful as they used to and for those of us with underlying health conditions, a mask and social distancing is still a way of life. I went into Ace Progress Ridge today to have two used paint cans shaken up and purchase one new one. When I arrived at the paint counter and asked to have the cans shaken I was abruptly interrupted with a very rude "I won't shake up that can" by someone named Jaron. I was very taken aback by his rudeness since I've had many cans of previously opened paint shaken up there before. When I asked why (in total confusion) Jaron said "I don't want your paint all over my paint shaker". I was so confused at this point I moved on to ask for help with the can of paint I needed to purchase. Jaron was just incredibly rude and refused to help by being short and condescending. I picked out my own paint. I then asked to talk to Chris, the store manager and now I know exactly why the employees act like this at this store! Chris said "I am sorry you feel that way" and tried to justify Jaron's actions by stating thy someone's can of paint spilled in their shaker. I am not at all upset that ace no longer shakes up previously opened paint cans - that is perfectly within the store's right to decide and I was very clear with Chris on that!! I am, however, appalled at how rude Jaron was and how Chris didn't listen to my concern about Jaron's attitude and instead tried to justify it with an explanation of why they don't shake up cans anymore. I reiterated I wasn't upset that they don't shake up paint cans anymore and Chris repeated, "I'm sorry you feel that way!" The number one comment narcissists make is "I'm sorry you feel that way"! The first rule of customer service is to never blame the customer and that is exactly what Chris did with a narcissistic comment. I asked to speak to Bob, the owner but have not had a call yet. This store needs a new mgr (just read the reviews here - this is a pattern) and some education in customer service. Don't waste your time here! Take your business to Lowe's or Home Depot! read more

Very empty outdoor area in the late summer was disappointing, as well as the fact that the plants placed there, seemed like they were just put there to die. It isn't ever VERY busy there. The staff is nice, pleasant but in comparison to the Tigard store, this one is bare, harder to find things and just not as well organized. Ace is pricey, you're not going to get THE best value on most items but that's okay if you are in a rush or have an emergency. But you will OCCASIONALLY find a real deal. It's just not often lol. It's convenient but definitely not my #1 choice for Home Improvement. read more

My wife went in to get a paint match, knowing the previous color that was bought there a few years ago. The clerk gave her the same name color but a different vendor. The original color was Valspar Warm Oatmeal, the clerk gave her oatmeal by Benjamin Moore, to cut to the chase, the clerk looked up the color and messed up. We tried the paint but it was far to yellow. Rather than admit the error and refund the $23 for the paint, they would not do the refund since it was a mixed color. The manager was useless and also refused the refund. I have a contractor account there and have spent thousands of dollars over the years but this manager is foolish enough to lose a great customer over a $23 refund his clerk was responsible for. I know that having a handy hardware store in the neighborhood is a good thing, but I will no longer patronize this store. read more

As a handyman I go to a lot of Ace Hardware's. 90% of them have amazing customer service. This one takes it to another level there's always someone available to help me. Even more important as someone that does something different every day it's always nice to have someone with a little bit of knowledge just to double check and this is the place for that. read more

Been coming here on a weekly basis since they first opened. I did a home remodel and have spent a lot of money over the years at ACE. The staff have always been helpful and nice. They have seen me many times and are polite. Today was a different story. I brought in my daughters bike to try to figure out what I needed for some upgrades. I was minding my own business when someone yells." Nice bike is it yours? I looked up abs this older guy comes up to me and taps me hard on the shoulder. I told him right away. It's not funny and to not touch me. The guy continues to make fun of me and tap my arm till I pushed my hands out and pushed him away. I said again. I don't know you. You don't joke with me or touch me. He said. " Are you kidding with me? I said no with some profanities. I told him to stop and I do not know him and how dare he harass me and make fun of me. Every time I've been in there lately, I have found an incredibly customer focused group of employees. Polite, friendly, very helpful (without trying to sell you stuff you don't need) they will take you right to the items you are looking for. Ace may be a wee bit more spendy than the big box stores, but I prefer my helpful hardware wo/man to really be helpful and not just point me in the opposite direction and run. read more

Went to get my F150 pickup keys copied and I told $50 for a pair. I bought the keys online and paired them myself. Just needed them copied. Basic (house) key + copy cost less than $5. I was told the cost was because I didn't buy the keys from them. SOME markup for the service is to be expected, but 10x markup just for the service is unreasonable. Not cool Ace. About six months ago, my daughter needed a new key made for her Honda. I suggested that she go to the Ace Hardware at Progress Ridge because I had noticed that they displayed them. I told her to use my member account so we could keep track of the purchase in case of an issue. I took the key into the store and approached the clerk working in the key area. I told him that the key fob was about six months old and was cracking where the key makes pressure on the fob portion when turning the ignition on and off, both sides of the fob. He said he could order me a new fob portion. I believe he said $40. I asked him how long should the key fob work? He told me his was over 5 years. Now, these key fobs are about $149 at Ace. She had already been back once because a screw had worked out. If I order the new fob, the key has now costed $189 and how long before it cracked again? I went out to the parking lot and called a Honda dealer and was quoted $167 for a key fob. The original two key fobs had lasted over 15 years. So, six months for $149 plus another $40 wasn't any deal. I contacted the Ace Care Center about the issue and they told me they would send to the store. Since I have't heard from them, I contacted Honda and had the key fob made. Very disappointed with Ace Hardware customer service and will seriously think twice before purchasing from them in the future. I like having a neighborhood hardware store. Their products usually have much higher quality than Depot or Lowes and their employees know their stuff. I will never buy plumbing materials from Home Depot again because the low quality pluming parts don't always make tight seals on supply lines or drain pipes. The parts at Ace work much better and are competitively priced. As for nuts, bolts and special fasteners, they are the best you can find outside of specialty hardware stores. Shop local if you can. ( I know you won't find every product locally but buy locally if you can.) Don't be fooled by big box products that are a few cents cheaper as you get what you pay for! They also have Traeger parts and I have gone through many parts on mine which I have replaced and been very happy with. Only reason I don't give them a 5 is because I don't like sharing any personal info and they want to market to people using a phone number and your name. I get it, they have to work to market to local people to compete. read more

The people walking around the store offering to help are always nice and helpful. Answering questions, showing items and options. Even helping with ideas. But i get to the check out and they are almost always rude. Usually talking to another worker and sometimes don't stop to really help. They never thank me for shopping there. Half the time they don't even acknowledge that we are done. They just hand me my receipt then stand there. I say thanks for the help and walk away and that's it. Just odd... My recommendation: go for the stuff and isle service, when you get up front don't expect a lot and just get out. :) read more

Great customer service and employees are constantly checking-in, once anyway. I never have felt abandoned or unnoticed in the Progress Ridge store. Serious deals can be found perusing the isles looking for sales updates on prices. I've found over 50% savings on lots of items that were not discontinued, and that I truly thought I needed. I have no trouble convincing myself of this on a regular basis, especially related to tools, great food and good beer. Regular prices are a bit high related to big box stores, but the convenience offsets the cost of fuel to travel across town. This is where I go for small hardwares, I will research and shop OSH, HD or Lowes for the big-ticket items. read more

Had to get a few items and didn't want to go to Home Depot since there's a pandemic & I have autoimmune issues. Less exposure and more ability in a small biz to make sure masks are worn (they are currently mandated). Well the customers had them on but not the employees. Three different employees had them hanging under their chins and a 4th, didn't cover his nose. Same employees don't even attempt to give distance between you & them in the narrow aisle way. Customers need to know when a business doesn't treat a pandemic seriously and choose politics over science. I won't be back if that's how they feel about their customers. read more

Convenient location if you just need one or two things. Otherwise, it is overpriced. The workers are great, they are helpful and always very friendly. I like that they always have the cool new merchandise on display outside. It's fun to look at. The only thing that weirds me out is the guy who always sits outside on the side of the building smoking in a chair. His smoking is so frequent I thought that he was paid to be out there maybe monitoring, but he works inside. This is no place to stock up on supplies for a home improvement project but rather the kind of place to swing by if you need a few screws or a key made. Sometimes they do have awesome deals though so be sure to check those out. Usually seasonal/clearance type stuff. read more

Old fashioned customer service. When I step into the store I feel like I'm in a past era, but in a good sort of way. It's a well-staffed store and A well-stocked store. Don't let the smaller size compared to a boxed or full you. Unless you're looking for a truck load of dimensional lumber or enough plants to landscape an apartment complex, you'll find virtually all of your hardware and home repair needs here. Help seems to be around every corner but not in an annoying, hovering sort of way. The staff sincerely wants to help and this type of attitude can only come from the top down. The store is also laid out in an exceptionally simple and easy to shop design. Kudos to this store for making me actually like going in a hardware store which I would otherwise consider to be boring. read more

I am not one to review much, especially if food is not involved, but i have lived across the street from this shopping center and am nothing but impressed. And this ACE is one of the reasons. I have gone in there for the most random things - toilet seats, hummingbird feeders, keys, batteries, screen doors, fans, water bottles, paintbrushes, a freaking wheelbarrow! Everything i have ever gone there for, they have had. It is like Mary Poppins' magic bag. And they are on it with customer service. And i prefer not to be bothered. They help if you want it, and leave you be if not. For a corporate entity, this store has had it all. I have been very pleasantly surprised. They don't have lumber, which is the only way i could see them getting better, but i can't fault them that. Begrudgingly, I must give a full 5 stars. This store nails it. read more

I walked in to purchase a five gallon Kerosene tank and when I took it to the cashier, it rang up more than the price on the shelf. I cordially disputed the price and brought the tag up to the counter where the owner was waiting. She honored the price and we joked with each other about the pricing. The cashier was super friendly and was not disinterested in her job. Ten minutes later, I had to drive back to the store to purchase a gallon of K-1 kerosene. I asked a lady where it was located and she walked me back to the item's location. We exchanged our thoughts on the price of the kerosene and then she was kind enough to find a coupon for me after she walked me back to the register. She rang the item up and the price was actually less than what the original price minus the discount would have been. I asked for the names of the two ladies that were there, only to find out that one was the manager, Charma, and the other the owner, Gail. Both ladies were kind and sincere. I am so glad we now have an Ace Hardware in our neighborhood! We used to have to go to the one at 185th and TV Highway in Aloha and the parking is terrible at that location. This Ace is in the new shopping center across from Big Al's and next to New Seasons - plenty of parking! The store is large - the layout isn't as cramped as the one in Aloha, has the usual great selection of hardware and other goodies and the staff has been friendly and helpful the 2 times we've been in the store. So happy to have them close and will definitely be going back! read more

I went in to find some parts for some drum hardware. I thought it might be a challenge but Matt located everything I needed in about 7 minutes and everything is a perfect match. I showed up minutes after the store was closing, in search of a lightbulb for our travel trailer and the Manager let me in and helped me find the correct bulb which got us on the road for vacation travels.
