Got a lot done today at Ace: kitchen knife sharpening, make backup copies of house keys, and picked up an online order for mason jars on sale. Ailien was so helpful and so sweet. She seems to be more senior (experienced) on the team because she definitely knew all the answers, like setting up the knife machine and finding my missing order and making it right. Ace has sooo much you can get here. I forgot you can buy grills, meat seasoning, picture hanging, gardening tools and so much more here. Next time I ought to budget way more time to meander and check out everything I need for my home and yard. read more

Location 4 stars: In the Porter Ranch Town Center's West end, in the former Toys R Us building. Plenty of free self parking on premises. Venue 4 stars: Large and modern. Well structured and offering a full selection of DIY and home and garden goods. They are not as builder/contractor oriented as say Home Depot or Lowes, but great for everyday needs. One great thing is that they are never busy. It is easy to get in and out quickly. Main reasons that I could see for the lack of crowds compared to other hardware superstores is the low turnout of contractors and the higher prices (discussed further down). Service 3 stars: I have always found this aspect of Ace Hardware hard to rate. Sometimes you walk in and there are smiling faces everywhere, greeting you and asking you if you need any help. Other times you will not find anyone to assist you and keep wandering the aisles. Overall service is better than Home Depot or Lowes but it could also be much better! Merchandise 3.5 stars: Again not as elaborate as Home Depot or Lowes, but good enough for a neighborhood hardware superstore when you need something quick. Convenience 4.5 stars: For me, they are the closest hardware superstore, about a mile away. Next closest are Lowes in Northridge (4.5 miles) and Home Depot in Canoga Park (7.5 miles). Not having to fight traffic, compete for parking spots, parking next to huge work trucks and getting dinged by them or the lumber carts, and not paying extra for gas is worth it, especially when I need something in a jiffy. Prices 2 stars: Generally much higher than Home Depot or Lowes. In one instance, a part that was $10.99 at Lowes, Home Depot AND Amazon, was $13.99 at Ace. This is 27% higher! Now every price may not be this much higher but as a general rule always expect to pay more for the convenience. The Bottom Line 4 stars: Convenience and lack of crowds wins it for me! read more

Nice store, clean, organized and well stocked. Issue is lack of service. Huge store that is grossly understaffed. Requested the cashier to call for assistance. Waited several minutes, asked again, several minutes later the guy shows up to help someone else. While I waited I went online to Amazon, found what I needed, paid less and will have it delivered the next day. I truly wanted to support this store. Now I will only go if it's urgent and I know exactly what I want. Same for any shopper, try to support them or they will close for sure. It's a shame. read more

I have never been to an Ace hardware before and decided to check it out in search for some Masonry stain to finish a project at home where I'm staining the bricks. I had to order online because I couldn't find what I wanted at home depot or Lowes, but masonry stain is expensive and I was hoping Ace would have it so I could avoid shipping fees. On entering I saw two employees and one was on the phone and one looked stressed so I decided to just browse on my own. I found the aisle with stains and noted they have concrete stains, the concrete stain says it works on "other masonry surfaces" but how would I know if that includes brick? Also I decided it's not a good idea to buy a different brand and then the bricks might look different. Overall I did notice that the things they sell here seem priced higher than what I've seen at other stores. What i did like was the aisle full of air filters which reminds me that I need to change my air filters in the house. I need to measure first but at least I know they have a good variety at Ace in case I can't find elsewhere. read more

I discovered 2 things this week: Ace Hardware has been in Porter Ranch at the old Toys R Us location for at least 2 years and FROZEN PIES ARE THEIR TOP SELLING ITEM! Mind. Blown. I needed a new spigot for the yard hose so I went in to check it out. Two employees greeted us within 30 seconds of entering and Oliver(?Oscar? Sorry I forgot) asked if he could help with anything. I showed him the part, he guided me to the selections and made his recommendation. Awesome! I'm use to going into Lowe's or Home Depot and knowing I'm on my own, but Ace(and DIY stores) seem to like to hire folks that know how to fix things. This is greatly appreciated and will keep me coming back. I mentioned that a friend told me they sold frozen pies, but I didn't believe her. Yup! Confirmed! The store had an amazing array. From home goods and culinary cooking treats, to plumbing, yard items, hardware, seasonal decor and even a bird/wild critter feed section better than some of the local pet supplies we've tried at prices competitive to Amazon! I had a great experience at Ace Hardware in Porter Ranch, and I really want to give a shout-out to James. I brought in several knives to be sharpened, and James did an amazing job. They came back extremely sharp, honestly better than I expected, and you can tell he really knows what he's doing. What made the visit even better was the conversation. While James was sharpening my knives, we talked about life, positivity, and keeping the right mindset. It was genuine and uplifting, not rushed at all, and it turned a simple errand into a really positive experience. That kind of customer interaction is rare these days. James is professional, skilled, and truly cares about his work and the people he helps. I left with perfectly sharpened knives and a noticeably better mood. I've given this location so many chances and it always disappoints. The store is always completely empty, yet there is never anyone around to help you find anything when you need it and everyone seems very unhappy when they do help. I've also had trouble with any return I may have. If you are even a day or so over the deadline they make no exceptions even if the product is unused and especially if you ordered online for pickup instead of in store which they act like is a completely impossible thing to work with (makes no sense). I have vowed to never shop here again because of these things and drive the 10 minutes to Lowe's where I've never had any of these issues. It's worth the extra time for my peace of mind. Had yet to visit this new location of Ace Hardware, in the former Toys R Us building and has been a couple other things since, until just recently. Needed some Drano because my kitchen and bathroom sinks were slow to drain. Entered Ace and it was easy as there is ample parking in this shopping center. The aisles are clearly marked so it was easy to find the plumbing section. Bought a couple bottles of drano, went to the check out line, took a Quick Look at the aisle of impulse items and then checked out quickly thanks to a very helpful team member. This was my first time ever stepping inside a Ace Hardware and it was an okay experience. The prices here are higher here compared to other hardware stores. I found parking easily in the plaza this store is in because it's a big plaza. When I walked into the store, I notice the small gazebo they had out on the floor. It looked nice and they also have some bbq grill on display. I went to the section where they'll have turnbuckles and chains because I was looking for parts that I can add to my shade sail. I didn't end up buying anything because it was just pricey here. It's pretty big inside so they have a lot of products. I even checked out their power tools area and they have some nice collections to choose from. I also looked at their car detailing supplies section and they were priced higher than I'm used to. read more

I needed to find some cute animal ornaments with lights for my yard and while in the area, I stopped by this ACE store. The store is very spacious and filled with all kinds of home equipment. It's very clean inside and the staff was very helpful when I asked them for their expertise with the lights. They had so many cute quality décor lights for the yard at reasonable prices. I was very impressed. They had very unique garden ornaments and lights. I will be a recurring customer at this location. Most of the ACE stores, I have been to are very small with limited ornaments to choose from. However, this store is bigger and has more inventory. Did an online purchase for in store pickup, and they pulled the incorrect items. Which I didn't realize until I got home. I do not live close by, so I had to wait a day to make it back. In the meantime I needed to use one of the packages. The store manager, Ari, did not even acknowledge their mistake, much less apologize for it. I was hoping to get the correct items, and get a small discount off the one package I used. Ari refused. So I was out the time and fuel for their mistake. So disappointing to not even get acknowledgment. Might as well go to the big box hardware store if I'm going to get the same treatment. read more

This Ace hardware just opened up a few months ago. I'm so glad it opened here, the building used to be Toys-R-Us a few years ago. Anyhow, they have a very organized and fully stocked store. There is an extensive grill area! I was a bit disappointed that we came here to check out their garden area but it's not being properly maintained. All the plants by the end wall of that area get heavy sun and majority of those plants were shriveled up and dry. They definitely need to manage that area better. I ended up buying no plants that day. Other than that, my experience was good, cashier was super attentive and offered great customer service. I will be returning here for any things I might need for my home. read more

If I could review my experience accurately, I would say instead of once, though they receive negative minus stars. I had a terrible experience making keys at another ace location. The keys did not work. I brought it to return and they told me that I have to go back to the location where I had the keys made, even though it is the same organization, how ridiculous that is for now in this day and age. They did not want to honor $27 of the same organization clearly where the keys did not work and I was returning the keys.. terrible policy terrible service. I bought a Weber grill on line from Ace, and had this store both assemble it and deliver it to me for free. It was a seamless process and took two days from order to delivery to my house. I was extremely happy to avoid the hassles of loading a 100 pound box into my car, and then assembling the grill myself. I hooked up the propane tank and in one push of the button the grill was live! The delivery guys were very nice. Glad to have this hardware store in the neighborhood! read more

I've been to the store many times and have continued to go and have had very good service except recently. We bought a patio cushion last week and I'm sorry to not fit. It was on markdown. Nonetheless, when I tried to return it, I was told it was final sale. I told the cashier there was no notice of being final sale. I spoke to the manager, and he reluctantly refunded the money. I told him my concern and he had no apology. I went to look at display where it was purchased and I saw no sign that said final sale. I'm so disappointed suppose someone makes a purchase I need to return and doesn't have the courage to ask for a manager. I think it should be at least marked final sell. no returns. read more

I LOVE this store. It hasn't been open that long in Porter Ranch. It is very big and spread out, easy to shop in, clean bathrooms, good selection and fair prices that are clearly marked for every item. I can always get help there when I need it, not like the giant hardware stores. They also have great sales and big coupons and a rewards program that is easy to use. Lots of parking, quick in and out, zero lines at the registers. Can't say enough about how friendly the staff is too! read more

Great store; so glad they opened -- well stocked, very helpful staff, found prices comparable to other hardware stores in the area (DIY, Lowe's), plenty of easy parking. We recently needed items to redo our screens and take care of a plumbing issue and this Ace had everything we needed. One of my favorite things about Ace stores is the variety of fun and interesting items beyond the typical hardware store merch. Arthur has excellent customer service skills and even offered to help my mom replace her broken car keys as well. With the help of Derringer & another lovely gentleman, I was able to complete a much needed errand-replacing the batteries on my car key fobs. Even though Ace isn't a car parts shop or an expensive dealership, they had the battery I was looking for & took time out to help me figure how to get the fob open (with their tools) & replace the battery. It was a team effort, involving a YouTube video, but we did it. The second one was much easier and now I know how to do it. So, thanks guys! I had an XL big green egg with acacia table delivered yesterday and the 3 gentleman who delivered it did an excellent job. They payed attention to the cracks on the sidewalk and any little thing that might damage the grill. Even though the grill was over 400 pounds, they still got the job done no problem. I would give it more stars but the guy at the register who rang me up was such a slug. No greeting. Rang up my things, I paid then he just dropped the receipt on the counter. No customer service skills what so ever. I regret saying thank you to him. He didn't say one word to me just looked straight a head like a zombie. How do these people get hired? On a more positive note a young woman did ask me if I needed help when I was looking for a product. So if you are a heavy-duty contractor or a professional tradesman, then those two warehouses are your "go-to". HOWEVER, if you are a DIY homeowner, a professional handyman, a property maintenance manager, or a repairman of any kind...then WELCOME to your new favorite store! The business model for Ace Hardware differs from Home Depot or Lowes in that they sell very hard-to-find items PER UNIT for a repair or to tackle a small project. Do you need some kind of specialized nut, bolt, or fastener? - Yes. They have that and sold by the piece (they literally have THOUSANDS of specialty fasteners). How about wires of all kinds? - Yes. They sell by the foot. This way, you are not forced to purchase the whole pack of something or a 50-foot roll of wires. You only buy what you need and if you have any left over, you can return the unused items! You can't do that if you used a part of a pack purchased at the other stores. So if you are looking to repair something or have a small project to complete, I recommend Ace Hardware. From an Outdoor Garden section, work clothes, power tools, backyard grills... all in a clean environment with shelves that are ORGANIZED, I can't be more pleased. I used to always come here whenever I needed something, however I won't be returning. This one girl Alison would always help me and she was the best. Amazing attitude and she was very knowledgeable about what she was doing. When I asked this young man if she could assist me instead he informed that she is no longer working there.
