I went to order base molding and showed them an image and the name of the base board as well. When I picked it up it was the incorrect one. I reordered it and ended up waiting a week for it to arrive. Once I went to pick up correct material, i found out, only after paying for it and loading it onto my truck that every piece of base was broken. I've been a contractor in LA area for over 20 years. I called these people on Saturday and placed an order for some large size lumber. Got delivery confirmation for Wednesday. I called on Tuesday to get an ETA on my delivery just to find out that not only my delivery won't arrive on Wednesday as scheduled but also the sale wasn't approved cause some clown over there didn't write the numbers down correctly. Highly recommend Ganahl Lumber. As a Woman, I was so embarrassed to walk into a lumber store to purchase lumber needed by the contractor working in my home. However, everyone was incredibly kind and helpful. Mather of fact, there was seven a young lady working the front counter which made me feel less uncomfortable, I guess lumber stores are a place for women after all! Not a place for fine woodworking selections. They may have what you need, but they aren't set up so you can pick your wood. The good hardwood is stacked on the upper level, and customers can't go up there. Although they are friendly enough in the yard to offer to pull some boards for you to look at. Oddly enough, the primed-on-all-sides lumber sits in the lower level, right below the same hardwoods, where a customer can look at it directly, but what would be the point? Going into the yard is like entering a military base, with a guard gate, where you get a parking pass placed on your windshield. This is probably for safety and liability reasons (understandable because it's a busy place), but the imagery is a bit strange. If I needed quality construction lumber, I'd ask here for a quote, but I can do the same with a special order at a Lowe's or Home Depot. read more

We've been getting wood here for several years. We drive out from Oxnard/Camarillo because they can get what we want for exterior wood siding projects (rough cut redwood for board and batten, etc) at the best price. Special orders come in quickly, and we appreciate the competitive price, but most importantly...literally everyone that works there is THE NICEST person!! From the office staff, will call, fork lift drivers, dudes who work in the guard shack...everyone. We will continue to drive to Ganahl for the as long as we're doing these projects and they keep up the awesomeness. Came her to buy Redwood slats for my patio area. I chose to drive out 20 minutes instead of going to a HomeDepot 5 minutes from my house because of the top grade lumber here. If you buy Redwood from HomeDepot or Lowes you get lumber that only has streaks or partially red as opposed to Northridge, their lumber is red with very very few knots. You do pay more for lumber here but the quality is incomparable . Customer service is delightful as they have plenty of people willing and capable of helping. You can even take some plans here and they can do a take-off for you and tell you exactly what and how much lumber you need. Parking is adequate so there shouldn't be a problem though I've never been here when it is SUPER crazy busy. I know I will be back for any of my other projects I want looking high end. read more

I guess the place is ok if you're looking for construction lumber. For anything requiring any measure of quality, this isn't the place. Their selection of furniture grade hardwood is nonexistent. There are better options in LA, such as House of Hardwood. Those people know what they're talking about. read more

The employees on the yard are very disrespectful. I did not like the fact that the older man was telling my husband that a woman is not suppose to load the wood beams. I told the man I am more capable of handling some wood beams. We told him we don't need help just grabbing 4 pieces and I need to be picky since the beams will be a main view point for my clients. I did not want any bowed beams nor do I want any damaged beams as they are pricey. I am in the construction industry. I came to Ganahl Lumber to avoid driving to the Pasadena location. I came in here with my boots and gloves to get the material I need to finish building a patio cover. But nevertheless we learned our lesson to NOT come to this location at all not to mention they overcharged me but because I needed these beams today I had no choice. He made sure all the beams I needed were not bent or split, but of the highest quality! He even helped me load up my UHaul and secure the beams. I don't know what I would've done with out his help! Rip Off ! Salesman all Charge you different amounts for the same out door brown wood and tell you it's better than Home Depot when it's not. Not to mention they say they will call you back to provide a quote and they never do. I've lots thousands of dollars waiting on them. Also the owner doesn't care about its customer. I ordered one 3x8x12 p.t. lumber and was told by Mark they'd didn't have it in stock, but could have it delivered from Anaheim and would have it ready for me to pick up the next day between 9-10am. I said sure and was told I'd be called when it was ready to pick up and would pay when I picked it up. Next day, 10:15 am, nothing, no call so I call and my name was not registered and no order placed. Was told by Gary he'd call the back yard to see if it was there and he'd call me back with info. It's 3:56 pm and no call, no info, nothing...thank goodness BMC Burbank not only had the lumber, but treated me with such respect. Very disappointed and feel disregarded I was not important enough as a customer to even get a call back. read more

From the inception of the project, a ground deck, to completion these folks are pros's. They dealt with a difficult client with ease ( My Daughter) and guided them to products that were in stock and easy to install. Colors of decking, always an issue, was dealt with free samples to take home and check out. Deliver was timely and efficient. They put the loads in a tight space with with great ease. They split the order to accommodate our space limitations on the site , nobody does that ! And when returns were made they picked up the next day. Great pricing too, better than the big boxes. I decided to support the small guy for my current home project: garage overhead storage structure. These guys were very helpful. I bought about $500 (after taxes & delivery) of lumber, an engineered beam, and 5 lbs. of nails. These guys were more helpful than the big box stores.
