I have called this place several times and keep getting a run-around. In several of these calls my credit union was blamed, I was even told "I don't know why your credit union can't find it", my response was they couldn't find something that was never sent! The last time I called the man hung up on me and said he'd have the manager call me tomorrow, I'm still waiting and that was 2 days ago. I WILL NEVER do business here again and I hope this review prevents someone else from having this same problem! They didn't wait to receive my money, but they're making me wait to get MY money back!

Even though their prices are generally HIGHER than elsewhere, he knew what he needed, wanted, and was a LOYAL & LONGTIME customer. After he passed, I would walk to Shoe City whenever I needed something, or walk in and browse as I passed those opened doors. I soon found for myself that their Customer Service is "spotty" & the stock they carry has diminished over the years. ON MY LAST VISIT, I stopped in to ask whether it was possible to special order components for an obscure/vintage "Weiser" doorknob. The older gentleman, who I believe is the owner, came up to me, rudely & very dismissively insisting that in 30+ years in the business he had "NEVER heard of the brand!" BOTTOM LINE: Perhaps Shoe City Hardware was once a great local hardware store with staff that helped customers find hard-to-find pieces nowhere else available. But now their GENERAL MERCHANDISE items are pricey & limited to 1 or 2 brands. And sadly, those unique/ classic "gems" that once kept loyal customers coming back have become leftovers from "old inventory" & no longer replenished. They have not had the simple, common items/solutions I'd been shopping for during my past 5 visits. I fear they are biding time until they go out of business. In the spring, I ordered decking for my condo. Al was very helpful and patient with me as he helped me figure out Exactly what I needed for my order since I had never done this before. Shortly after I placed my original order, I changed my mind and decided to order more boards to do a more thorough deck repai/replacement. Again, Al was very patient, kind, understanding, and helpful to me as he needed to add onto my order. Later in the summer when I discovered that I needed to exchange a few boards that were slightly defective, And replace them in order to finish the project, Al was very accommodating. He arranged for the boards to be picked up, he applied a credit for those boards to my account, and explained very thoroughly and apologetically that the fact that the replacement and additional Boards I needed were on back order and he wasn't exactly sure when they would be in. He said that he would be in touch with me again when he knew more. As promised, al followed up with me a few weeks later to make sure that I still wanted the boards. I told him that I did, and he said that again they were still back ordered but he was hoping to see them within the next few weeks. I just received a phone call from Al today telling me that the boards were in and they can be delivered to my home on Tuesday. Because of my experience, I plan to do more business with this company in the spring for a different project. Al has set the bar for customer service pretty high. The last incident just occurred last week. Several of my windows were leaking between the panes. I started a warranty claim to get the lower sashes replaced. Worked with a guy "Chris" and he tried to get them but was unsuccessful. The sashes did arrive at my house 2 months later which was fine. Communication was fine at first. I was still working with him and "Chris" said we would try this again after I supplied pictures and measurements. The window replacements I paid for magically showed up in 2 weeks?? I had worked with "Chris from Oct 2019 thru January 2020. After January all communication stopped. Never once did he text or email to let me know that he stopped the claim. He never reached out and after 4 months I contacted him again for the 8th time and he said contact the manufacturer and its not his problem. I was hoping that the poor customer service environment at Jackson would have changed from 7 years ago. Sadly it hasn't. I have had 2 other other interactions with Jackson Lumber in 2012 that ended just as poorly. I'm not sure if the unprofessional atmosphere at this location is company wide or limited to this one location. Go ANYWHERE else.
