Drove 1 mile from my business to leave my f150 for a routine oil change , upon notice that my truck was ready I returned , payed the invoice and received the key and started to leave, however I noticed my drivers side power rear view mirror looked odd, I reached out to check and the mirror fell of its perch mounting and dangled by the wiring , I left the truck and I walked back in and asked the service advisor to come look , He said "oh yeah we noted that it was broken on the report" I said It wasnt broken when I dropped it off 2 hours ago and left .I went back to my shop and checked my video from 2 hours earlier when I left , mirror was perfect , So far my calls and emails have simply been ignored read more

Tech was nice and oil change was completed but he didn't know anything about a coupon they were offering for 2 for 1 oil change offered on Cal Coast News. He advised me to contact their office about it. I did and was told it wasn't valid anymore. Funny thing is they ran the coupon online every week so... Not a big deal but when you offer a 2 for 1 you should honor it. Kind of a deal breaker for me. read more

Just wanted to update my review from a couple weeks ago. I got a message from Jason, the owner who was very sincere and apologetic for my bad experience. So much so that he reversed the charges and gave me my money back after I explained to him I never asked for a diagnostic or service and that I was only there because of his employee who changed the oil in my car the day before, because he felt a more experienced mechanic should look at it and no one was in the shop at the time I was getting my oil changed. My sister, who is visiting me from Missouri begin having issues in the engine light coming on her 2014 jeep grand Cherokee. a couple of trusted people recommended she take it to Aces Auto for assessment and possible repair. I might want to Mention that a mobile mechanic came and said it was likely a coil that was causing the problem. He was going to come over and fix it, but she had already take it to Aces. Joe totally cool with that The shocking part was this: Aces charge her a fee of $550 for an engine compression test she agreed to this. After four days they came and said it was going to cost her $10,000 to repair her car for the engine as well as the transmission! Naturally, that is not an option for her. It turned out to be a coil. It is costing less and 400 bucks to get her car repaired. Shame on Aces for trying to swindle my sister out of 10 grand they should be reported and I recommend you boycott them. read more

I was treated as if I was stupid, and Bryan (supposedly the owner) was passive aggressive with the way he spoke to me. As a professional, career woman, I was so insulted by the way he and his staff treated me. No customer should be treated that way. We spend HARD EARNED money for these services, and should be treated with a little bit of respect. They all seem to be childish, immature people. Very friendly, honest, professional and their shop is remarkably clean, they gave me a digital estimate, I was able to see the issues and clearly understand what it would cost to fix the issue, they're very fair and honest on pricing, timely repairs as well. They charged $95 to smog a 1999 Isuzu Trooper. I asked why so high, the woman explained California charges more for 99 and older cars. I paid and left and thought it was weird that it cost so much when it passed with flying colors. No adjustments necessary. I called other service stations and they told me there was no extra charge for a 99 or older. They charged under $50. I called to confront the lady and she told me then that they decided not California to charge more for 99 and older just because. She wasn't honest on the reason why when I was there to pick up my car. I will not trust them with any further business to do with my vehicles. read more

TOTAL RIP-OFF -- brought my older domestic vehicle for a routine repair, this shop tried to sell me over a thousand dollars in unnecessary work and when I declined, they charged me a $120.00 "inspection fee" for a 15 minute evaluation- they also told me if I drove the car home I would be doing so at my own peril (which was a complete lie) my regular mechanic did the work for 60% less than this shop quoted -- I was a mechanic for 15 years, in my experience, any shop that price gouges their parts and service as much as this shop does, they also do terrible work because they don't care about their customers. I have been going here for awhile. Each visit it seems they were getting less customer friendly. Yesterdays visit was a simple bait and switch. I called the day before asking if they could put on brake pads and rotors on my f250 truck. My father is a mechanic over 50 years and bought them on his last visit up at local Auto Zone. I waited for a reply phone call on confirmation I could bring the new parts and how much it would cost.Appt. made for the next morning confirming they would. Bottom line... After dropping it off as per their request we received a phone call they would only be able to install a premium rotor 3x the price I purchased. Calling my lifetime purchase a cheap version and refused to install it. I said no problem I will come pick it up! They will put it all back together and will have it ready for pick up. I called back 4 min later to ask what time the F250 would be ready? The person answering the phone said it is ready now. Really? The truth was they never took it a part. Or they would have asked about replacing the calipers too as the Tire center did a hour later after I took my business there. The up standing Tire Center used my new parts and had them fixed in 2 hours no appt. required, even going as far to tell me if the calipers need to be replaced I can buy them and bring them in also. Well there I ordered new tires for my Mercedes and they have a customer for life. I will never have work on any of 5 cars done at Ace Auto Care! They can up sale someone else! read more

I went in for a little electrical issue. When it was done there was a dispute over the price, but they compromised in my favor. When I was driving off my windshield wipers didn't work, and they worked on the way over. They apologized and fixed it on the spot no cost. Very personable, nice place, 5-stars. read more

Took my daughter's Ford Escape in last week because it wasn't starting. The guys in the shop hooked the car up to their computer, and found the problem in about 5 minutes (carphone charger draining the battery). Convenient bc I had to bring my 11 month of old son here. There's a door we were able to close to keep him inside. Receptionist super nice. Getting a smog check done here. Ace is good clean and most of all, honest shop. Jason takes care of all of my cars and several of my friends cars. In addition to helping keep everything running, he has rescued me by doing last minute off hour fixes on my classic car for cruise night and car shows on several occasions. Found out about Ace Auto Care on Yelp, as I am new to Atascadero and that dreaded biennial trip to get my beast smogged was here. I scheduled an appointment less than 24 hours in advance, and when I took my vehicle there for my smog appointment, there was no wait. The owner Jason was very personable and made me feel very welcome. I was surprised to discover that for such a small facility, they had a very nicely appointed waiting room, complete with comfortable chairs and a television. Even though they found a couple of small issues during my smog test, I was in and out in just under an hour. 4.5 stars, only reason not getting 5 stars was because I think they charge about $10 more on average than most places for a smog, but the service and promptness was well worth it. There's a very high likelihood that I will be back to have them take care of my vehicle. Highly recommended. Edit: On a side note, don't be deterred from this shop being a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury specialty facility; Jason revealed that he had worked at a Toyota dealership for a number of years, so if you own a Toyota (like I do), don't be a stranger! read more

Just got my 98 Mercedes Benz smogged here. Sandy in the office was very friendly and you could tell the staff cared about making sure your vehicle passes. With a 20 year old vehicle I was afraid it would not pass. They had a nice waiting area with A/C and free WIFI. I highly recommend using them for your smog needs. I was not a fan of this place. My check engine light came on so I went to auto zone and came up with a misfire on cylinder 1. I took it to ace with a part bought new from auto zone and replaced it for 150. The next day it came back and I took it back, they said my part was no good and said they had to replace all 4 ignition coils for 580. I said okay being I thought that was what was needed. She said if it comes back to take it to jeep to update my transmission, this is a 2014 jeep cherokee btw. It came back then next day after the update. Took it back to ace and they replaced the coils for free. That same day, minutes after leaving the light came on. Took it in the next day and they found nothing and said they had to wait 5 days for someone with a special machine. I took it in Tuesday after she said this was free since they couldn't solve it. I had to call them minutes before they close each day to find out what's up with my car. Wednesday night after they have it over night I call and she tells me "what's wrong" , only to find out she didnt know who or what car she was talking about. She then figures it out and tells me my head gasket is leaking fluid into cylinder number 1 and itll be 2,800, but she will knock off 200. Which I feel is nowhere near fair for all the work that I paid for that was not needed. I called around to find other places could have done the same ignition could work for 200 less. I pick up my car on friday, was thinking if trading it in, and she tried to charge me 280 for extra labor. I never agreed to this and she said she had called me on 9/5 (which she didnt, I called her). She then said she called me on 9/13 (which is TODAY and she didnt it was 9am), and then said she called me at 9/11 at 9:30 am (which she didnt and I remember exactly what I was doing, I'm a personal trainer and was training someone at that time) and she said she got intpich with me and I had approved it. I never approved it or got any calls from them ever. My name, license number, and car model were all spelt wrong on the paper and she gave me the wrong keys to a completely different vehicle (to a volkswagon, not a jeep). After driving it from them taking it apart and putting it back together to a take a closer look, the check engine light is gone. I'm guessing it was a coil issue but they hadn't done it right the first or second or third time and finally fixed the original issue the last time, but was trying to get more out of me. read more

LIERS/SKAMMERS/NO REGARDS FOR THEIR customers POCKET BOOKS! STAY FAR FROM HERE!!! The experience I received from 'Ace Auto Care' in my opinion, had to be hands down the most out of line, inaccurate estimate of what they had "claimed" to be the problem with my GMC Denali. I called ahead of time in hopes of a rough ball park estimate on what the cost could run me for new brakes/ rotors. They lady tells me she could not even give me a rough estimate & to just bring my suv down to their shop. "While in the mean time id be car less with my 3 children all under age 5" When I get back to the auto body shop to hear the potential damage. The lady tells me that the Rotor was "cracked" and that the caliber pin was "snapped off". Then she goes to tell me my payment for the service was going to run me $2,000!! Unfortunately for her I am no MARK Twain and know that the parts them self do not cost $2,000 instead I went straight to the manufacture and got them for $237.00! Had a good friend change and fix my brake issues for me. but the most disturbing thing about it all is that they had straight up tried taking advantage of a single mother of three by LYING on paperwork& to myself about the "Rotor's be 'cracked'"! AND the "Caliber Pin being 'Snapped'"! Because NONE of those two claims they tried selling me were even far from the truth!!! Took my car in for minor repairs which had been estimated by another out of town place to be about 300. With the 4 stars and wanting to give business local I tried this place. They came up with new repairs not mentioned by others that ended up costing $900. As soon as I picked up my car I noticed it was hard to start. After a few days the engine wouldn't start. I had it towed there and they found a new crack in the radiator and destroyed battery. The secretary said no way did they do anything wrong that it cracked because it's been cold at night. Later she said it cracked because the new water pump that was put on put too much pressure and cracked it. The mysterious damage cost $600 Just making up things as she went along. She said that it was in no way their fault and that it's an old car anyway. The $300 estimate from out of town turned into $1500. I won't be supporting local business this way again. read more
