Aps & more specifically Robert is amazing! I had a vehicle that had a "engine maintenance issue" signal pop up. Stopped in to see if they could help me at all- he wrote down the codes and even informed me that my vehicles make and model had a "campaign" for the specific issue as so many of us had this issue!! He quoted me for that specific issue & even quoted me for a battery because thats also going to need replaced. His quotes are also significantly more lower priced than the dealership itself. Highly highly recommend & will be telling everyone I know to take their vehicles there!! read more

APS Automotive - Engine maintenance required light - Auto Repair Near Me - Atascadero, California

BEST SHOP EVER!!!!!!! EVER. I was in town for a bachelorette party when my check engine light suddenly came on in the middle of a 3-hour drive. I called in a panic with only about 45 minutes before I absolutely had to leave and asked if there was any chance they could work a miracle. They got my Jeep in immediately, diagnosed the issue as worn spark plugs, completed the repair, and had me back on the road in time. They truly saved the entire weekend. On top of the incredible service, everyone was so kind, reassuring, and personable during what could have been a really stressful situation. A huge thank you to Jesse and Nancy for going above and beyond. I can't recommend them enough! read more

My wife , and I are so happy that we started taking our vehicles to APS. Currently, we have four vehicles that need servicing. Most recently we just had an oil change and a smog job for our Hyundai Elantra GT. I was completely floored when Nancy called me and told me that it need to have the cabin air filter changed. I was blown away when she told me that they just charged me for the price of the actual part. That has never been my experience with any other AUTOMOTIVE service center. We've been taking our vehicles now there for over a year and they are just so great to deal with they get our vehicle vehicles in quickly at they give a great value for the services they provide. But more than anything it's their honesty than shooting straight that's the real attraction for us. Thank you, Jessie. Thank you, Nancy. Mark S. read more

Hard to find a honest and reliable shop .... well this is the place to use Jesse and his staff are super nice and always helpful

APS is the best. 15/10, could literally not recommend any more highly. For over 4 years (since my last review), my husband and I have taken all of our vehicles to them, and after we referred them, my parents also won't go anywhere else if they can help it either. We all prefer to go to APS as our go-to, or to ask for a referral from them if we know that it's something that they aren't equipped for. We continue to use them for essentially all of our routine and unexpected maintenance and repair needs, and time over time, year over year, we find them to be a rarity for their high level of honesty, fairness of pricing (and, frankly, generosity in pricing at times), communication, and the speed with which they get work done. They treat your maintenance or repair as a priority. The quality and frequency of communication that they provide alone is exceptional. Jesse has been our point of contact the last few (many) times, and he is just really great. Friendly, great at explaining complex issues to a layperson in a way that's thorough but never condescending, and super professional. We've only had great interactions with any of their staff. I would send anyone here with total confidence that APS will take fantastic care of them, and will go above and beyond. read more

Broke down while passing through town--not only did they not hesitate when I asked if we could be towed there, they were very thorough--ended up being just a battery and not an alternator--made sure before sending us on our way because they knew the distance we were traveling and the heat conditions. The waiting area is nice and clean! Go here if you want to be treated with honesty, courtesy and kindness, while getting the right service for your car. read more

If you want a knowledgeable, experienced with great customer service this is your place!! Was on a roadtrip and broke down in Atascadero. Originally I was towed to the shop across the street. I would not recommend them if you have a major problem. Long story short I had to find another place to fix my vehicle. So I walked over to ASP Automotive and without hesitation they were ready to help. Professional and experienced, they knew exactly what to do in order to get the job done read more

I went in for a smog and cert. Jesse the front man was super efficient and polite. I was done in less than 30 minutes as a walk-in. Note: if you pay cash you'll save a bit. read more

I ended up having a coolant leak in my van and when I called them first thing in the morning and mind you they open at 7:30. I was just hoping that they could get my car in right away well the guy on the phone told me to bring it in that morning. I was greeted by someone who was friendly . I'm usually pretty nervous having to go to a mechanic shop but, with APS I didn't feel Nervous at all once I walked in. They had to replace a plug and do a radiator flush on my van. APS had it done by the afternoon when most places would take their time! The price was way less than what we were hoping for. I highly recommend them and honestly they will be the only place I go to from now on!!! read more

I went here for my smog check appointment, only to find out that their machine was down. Over the next few days, we communicated several times, and when their machine was working again, Jesse called right away. The smog check was done quickly while I waited, and the charge was discounted for the inconvenience. Great customer service, I will definitely go back! read more

We had a check engine light come on in my daughter's Nissan Versa Note. The car stalled a couple times and while searching for a reputable shop to diagnose the problem it was then when I came across APS Automotive. I first called and spoke with Michael, super nice guy and very knowledgable. He said they were very busy, but as I explained that we had the issue while traveling from Socal to the Bay Area, he was able to squeeze us in to check the car. APS ( Michael specifically) helped us figure out the issue and got us back on the road. Very prompt, honest and professional! All the qualities you want in a shop. Thanks Michael! -Ted and Tara read more

I called Jesse to make an appointment to replace my water pump. He was able to get me in the next working day! He was very helpful and knowledgeable. Also I needed a smog check done. He preordered my water pump. The mechanic replaced the pump and serpentine belt. He also smogged my car. The cost of the repair was very reasonable. I would recommend APS Automotive to all my friends and family! read more

Have taken a few of my cars to this shop. They have always been honest and fair. Never tried to sell me on a repair that wasn't absolutely necessary. Nice to have found a place locally where I can get work done on my cars. read more

Extremely frustrating experience. Initially, we were told it would take a day to replace the part, but then they admitted they had to order it, which was annoying but understandable. The real problem was their lack of communication. They estimated it would arrive by Wednesday, but when Friday came, we hadn't heard anything, so we had to call them. They had to send the part back for programming, adding another week to the wait. The part was supposed to arrive on Monday, and they were supposed to call us, but they didn't. So, we called them, and they said it would be there by Tuesday. Again, they didn't call as promised, and when we reached out, they postponed it to Wednesday. On Wednesday, we called around 3:00 PM, and they said the part had arrived and was being installed. I took of work early, we rushed over, but by 5:10 PM, they told us it wasn't finished and needed two more hours of reprogramming. They were closing at 5:30 PM, so we had to come back the next day. So after taking off early, driving an hour down there, because we were told it would be done, they turned us away. This entire ordeal meant taking Thursday morning off work and driving down once more because of their disorganization. I would strongly advise against anyone using their services; it was an absolutely horrible experience. read more

I went in for a smog check. They got it done very quickly (20 minutes) and for a good price.

Super awesome! Convenient that they open early at 7:30am! Jesse answered the phone & helped me set up & check out for my smog check. I'm still high risk for COVID so I asked if we could handle everything on the phone & outside. He was super nice & accommodating. Fred took my car in the shop & was so kind to wear a mask. Great experience & very efficient experience! I'll be back if I need anything further for my car :) read more

Simply the best! Robert is knowledge and took the time to explain things to me. I brought my car in to have the oil changed, and a general check because I hit 100k miles. He made a list of services that he recommends, and put them in order of priority so that I would have the option to have the work done little by little to avoid one huge payment (greatly appreciated!) When they found a nail in my rear tire, they took the tire off and walked it over to have it repaired next door for me. Really just incredible customer service. As someone who knows very little about cars and car maintenance, it was really appreciated that he never made me feel silly or stupid for asking a question that might be obvious. This is important to me, as many other places have made me feel this way in the past. I highly recommend APS, it was all around a great experience. read more

I used to go to APS every once in a while when I worked in Atascadero. Now that I'm retired and live in Los Osos I'm never there. Last week however, my Son's car died going up the grade. We were able to get it into Atascadero and took it to APS as I knew they were reliable. Honestly, it was beyond their capabilities as it needed a new engine. Sure, they could have handled it if we could wait a couple of weeks but we got to talking and both we and they realized that since we had a Hyundai and their engines blow up like popcorn in a microwave, it might be a good idea to just follow up on the lifetime power train warranty that we had on the car. That meant having the car towed to the Hyundai Dealer San Luis. Okay, my Son was headed out of town. Could we just leave it in their parking lot? Sure, can do. When you need that tow, we know a guy that can run you a good deal. Oh yeah? Let's talk. In the end, they let us park in their lot, arranged the tow, and co-operated with everything that we needed, well, not co-operated, really orchestrated. What's most striking is that they did it for nothing. I hadn't darkened their doorstep in five years. No problem. They still arranged everything necessary to get this done, gratis. On the house. For nothing. That's some pretty darn good customer service. If you consider that we weren't ever really customers it becomes exceptional. Now I don't know about you but I've dealt with some auto places that were shall we say, not so good. I guess you can safely say that about places other than auto places too. Some are good. Some not so hot. When a business goes above and beyond, it would be remiss to not note it. When you need service, patronize these guys. If they took care of us in this fashion with no pay off other than good will, think how they will treat actual paying customers. Check it out. Highly recommended. read more

I made the mistake of purchasing a car online after hip surgery. When it was delivered it reeked of burnt oil(not a good sign) the dealership took zero responsibility and that's when I turned to APS my trusted hometown mechanics. It ended up being a HUGE project over 20hrs of labor and one they were hesitant about taking on, but Robert did! He helped me thru a difficult situation and made sure my vehicle was safe to drive! They are so honest my bill was cheaper from the original quote because they didn't need to do some predicted repairs. I don't know what I would had done without them, other mechanics here didn't have the capability to complete this repair. It was costly but I have no regrets! it's like taking your family member to the doctors, you have to trust your doctor right...I HIGHLY RECOMMEND APS!! They also documented and took photos to help me in my court case against the dealership. You won't find a more honest, excellent quality auto repair!!! read more

Best experience I've had with an oil change. I was able to be seen right away on a Monday afternoon, they took my car and 45 minutes later she was ready to go. My other shop told me that I'd have to pay hundreds of dollars on some repairs and made it sound very dire. I wanted to get some second opinions so I took it to APS automotive. Not only was a Robert very kind, he also had me come over and explained not only WHY the other shop might have had concerns but also explained why they were NOT concerns! They seem like a great, honest shop. He told me what to look out for that WOULD indicate a real issue so if I do encounter those issues, I'll definitely take it back to this shop instead. Thanks!!! read more

I would not have my vehicle serviced again at APS Automotive. I initially brought my car into APS Automotive as a result of the high star rating. The initial diagnosis by Fred seemed decent since issue was found that timing belt was broken. Once you have the shop begin to do service is when it is quickly realized that it was a mistake to have the vehicle serviced here. 1). When my vehicle was brought in there for diagnosis there was mention that the timing belt had broke and was told that timing belt would need to be changed and will be provided with an update. 2). Robert had told me that there was an estimate of 1,100 to have the timing belt changed. Later on the day a call was received that water pump was overtightened by previous mechanic and that drilling of holes for putting new bolts was necessary and he wanted my permission to do the work since he would need to add $200 more which will make the price $1300 (a very expensive timing belt change). 3). I called in to speak with Dan and was told that the vehicle was ready for pickup. When I came into pickup I was then told that the vehicle was not able to be repaired and that vehicle was not ready for pickup since there was damage to the cylinder head. At the end the shop had installed a new timing belt but the vehicle was inoperable. (It was later on found out from other reputable shops that what the shop should have done before installing the timing belt is to do a leak or compression test. Shops that sell the standalone engine can confirm this also). In addition despite being told that the car able to start and drive short distance the car was returned to me in a dead battery state. (The tow driver will be able to confirm this as he was not able to start the vehicle to load the car onto the truck). Will never return read more

I really appreciate Brandon and Jesse. They were able to quickly diagnose my issue and get it fixed. What impressed me the most was their efficiency to fix my problem. It was handled in a day. I brought a class b camper in to have a "pre-purchase inspection" done. Robert went above and beyond, both times we spoke on the phone he was very helpful, friendly and professional. Upon bringing the camper in he was busy but fit us in and looked at EVERYTHING. Not just the mechanics. Not only did he do a full inspection he sent us on our way with a can of starter fluid and some extra tape just in case. If we were local to Atascadero, he would 100% be our mechanic. I cannot recommend him enough. The service was only $55 I suggested he raise the price, he said he wants to keep it reasonable to encourage people to have inspections done prior to the purchase. I would have gladly paid $250 for this high quality service. Look no further, bring your vehicle to APS. read more

I am extremely happy with folks here at APS. Customer Service, Resources and Experience are all things that I confidently rate 5/5 stars. Right off the bat I can tell that these folks work well together and that means a lot when you're trusting a team with your car. Situation: My 1998 Corvette had a high oil pressure reading that was too high for me to be comfortable with driving all the way back to the Bay Area. Customer Service: The gentleman behind the desk greeted me when I arrived, the technician stopped what he was doing to take a quick look at my corvette and gave me some surface observations for what the cause could be. Robert heard my situation. He acknowledged that I was mid travel from the central coast to the Bay Area. He knew that I was willing to leave the car and come from the bay area to pick it up later in the week but he was willing to get the part I needed and get it installed by the end of the day so that I wouldn't have to make two big round trips. Resources: APS has multiple lifts and got my car in the air to see if I had any leaks or damage. Robert took the time to investigate the probable cause of high oil pressure and provided me an explanation and the expectations for the repair. I was extremely pleased with their experience and resources. I was able to confidently hit the road before 3 PM and made it home safe and sound. I recommend APS automotive to anyone that is looking for a knowledgeable team. Robert thank you very much for the attention to detail, Customer Service and Time. read more

Helped with pre-sale inspection. We'll worth the money. Very informative and helped us make an informed and important decision. Thanks APS!

I could not have had a better experience. When I walked through the door, I was greeted with a smile. I explained my situation and they made me an appointment for the next day. When I got there, I was greeted by the same smiling face. My car was taken back and issue was pin pointed quickly. I was told in advance of the charge to diagnose and was pleasantly surprised when they told me it was at not charge to me since it was a quick fix. My husband passed just 4 months ago and the cost of anything along with the frustration of car issues was overwhelming. The kindness of this company has renewed my faith in people. You guys made my day and I could not be more thankful. You guys are amazing, without knowing what was happening in my life you treated me as a person.
