Dishonest / Long Con My car now gets around 20mpg, after Sunset Honda sold me an air intake I did not need, installing it caused the check engine light to come on, and by that point my oil change had evolved to a $900 Estimate to look at the issue they caused. I had an odd vibrating noise on the driver's side of my 6 1/2 year-old Honda, which emanated from my gas tank door that is pushed to open in order to add gas. Armando, in the Sunset Service Center in Atascadero diagnosed the issue quickly, ordered a necessary part, and told me to return the next afternoon. Andrew, who takes care of the appointments and paperwork, also checked my tire pressure for me and reset the low pressure indicator on the dash. The next day's repair took about an hour. The friendly, professional team at this service center always makes me confident that my Honda is well-maintained for a reasonable cost. My Honda pilot wouldn't start back up after getting gas. There was a message on the dash saying brake system problem. So I called sunset service center in Atascadero and Armando stayed on the phone with me to troubleshoot only to find out it was a dead battery. I was able to jump the car and get it to the service center by 3pm where they had me in and out within 20 minutes with a new battery. Thankful for their expertise and helping me troubleshoot the issue over the phone. I highly recommend this place and would give them more stars if I could! read more

If I could give Sunset 10 stars, I would. My family was traveling through California when our Honda Odyssey broke down. We could make it into Atascadero, and then we looked around for service centers. After trying a few and butting up against closing times, Armando greeted us at the front desk and agreed to take a look at it. He and his crew went above and beyond all expectations, diagnosing and repairing in time to get us on the road for our deadline! He even helped us find a rental car while we waited - since it was a multi-day repair - as well as transportation to the rental agency. Armando worked beyond his normal schedule, communicating every step of the way so we knew what he was doing and could decide if there were repairs we could hold off on until we got home. I honestly don't know what we would have done if he and the rest of Sunset Honda had not helped us. We are beyond grateful, and want to make sure Atascadero and the surrounding area know what a treasure they have there! We plan to visit next time we're in town - perhaps we'll be due for an oil change by then. read more

Yesterday, we scheduled an 8am appointment for our Honda's maintenance service but had to get there earlier and used the "early bird drop" off box. When it was ready, we had a bit of an issue getting away from work to pickup our car. But the staff were extremely helpful in working it out with us. This was my first visit to the Honda Service Center. I have been skeptical to give them a try since I had a bad experience attempting to buy a vehicle from the SLO dealership (I did not buy my car from SLO). I took my car in for its 30,000 mile service...I have to say everyone was very friendly and helpful. They shuttled me home when I dropped my car off and picked me up when my car was done. Trina in the office was super helpful and was able to answer all my questions. They didn't try to talk me into anything extra, and I was encouraged to wait for the "maintenance minder" alert in my car to tell me when I need service, as opposed to doing it early and wasting money(I'm old school and programmed to do stuff at certain mileages)...I will definitely be back for routine maintenance and service! read more

I really can't give these guys anything other than praise. I've been taking my '16 Honda Fit here for regular services since I bought the car from the Sunset Dealership in SLO. They are great with customers. The oil changes are extremely reasonable priced, and don't take forever. The 30,000 mile service was pricey (because dealership) but they gave me plenty of warning to prepare. They also shuttled me to a nearby coffee shop and were dont an hour earlier than they quoted. sunest service is a off shoot of the san luis obispo store for the north county customers. prices are the same. its got a mom and pop feel to it with a few employees that are all helpfull and friendly. one can generally get in & out very quickly. they get parts everyday from san luis. so turn around is quick. they have done all my services and ive always felt like i was treated fair. im pretty sure they service acuras also because there was a few there. read more

I have a 2013 CVR that needed regular service. I called the service department in SLO and they were so crazy/slammed that I kept getting disconnected. After finally becoming so frustrated with this poor person at the other end of the phone, I was told about the Sunset Service Center in Atascadero....I live in Paso Robles. Wow, why didn't I know about this place before? Richard was so accommodating, I didn't wait too long for the work to be completed and the mechanics seem very knowledgeable. I have a 2016 CRV and since I bought it in April 2016 I got a nail in a tire and the battery totally died. Both times this location came to my rescue. When my battery died, it was a defective battery, I was across the street from this location in a parking lot. I called them for help because I wasn't sure it was a battery problem. In the blink of an eye and dispite their being very busy the manager jumped in his car and came over to jump my battery. I wish I could remember his name, but he is the type of manager every service shop should have. Friendly. Helpful. I would highly recommend this shop. Thank you. read more

We were so pleased with Sunset Service Center in Astascadero. On the first day of our vacation in Paso Robles, we noticed a message in our Honda vehicle indicating a problem. We called the San Luis Obispo Honda and they contacted Sunset to have them look at our car. Armando checked everything out and discovered it was the battery which was almost dead. They explained everything to us and immediately got the repair done so we could continue on our vacation. They were so efficient, helpful, thorough and caring. Just had a major repair done on my 2010 Honda Accord, at Atascadero Sunset Service Center! l had the engine replaced and all major services caught up. I have been going to this shop since 2011. Armando is the best! He is not only very knowledgeable about Honda's he is caring, kind and compassionate. My car has burned oil since 2011, I did so many oil consumption tests trying to prove to big Honda that there was a problem. If my car didn't burn over a quart of oil in the first thousand miles they wouldn't consider it a problem even though big Honda extended the warranty on this model up to 125,000! Because of the oil usage it burned out the catalytic converter and on and on and on. Long story short, I love my Honda it is in excellent condition and paid for. Armando found a engine with only 47,000 miles on it for me and installed it and now my car drives like a brand new car! Thanks to Armando and his awesome team! read more

Sunset Honda Service Center in Atascadero helped find a problem with my car that my usual auto mechanic was unable to locate. They found and corrected it. However, as soon as the problem was corrected they called me to tell me my engine light had come on, which I had had no problem with, and that I needed a catalytic converter. I was quoted a price of $700.00 for the converter plus the other things that had to be done for a total of around 1,300.00. Called my usual mechanic who although could not find the problem with the engine does a very good job with my car, I asked them how much for a catalytic converter plus smog, they said 1,076.00. well the difference was not that much plus Sunset did find the main problem so I told Sunset to go ahead with the repairs. When I picked my car up the cost was over 1,600.00. Talked with the Manager who continued todeny what she had quoted me over the phone. Not good. Won't go there again. read more
