Frank from Absolute Death was incredible! He got us set up with appointments fast and explained exactly how everything would go. Super helpful, easy to talk to, full of fascinating facts about how roaches work and how to get rid of them. We had been living with roaches in the kitchen sink, in drawers, in the bathroom, just all over the place. Our slumlord, Bronstein Properties, had completely failed in helping us with tis issue. When Absolute Death stepped in, they told us straight up that landlords often use cheap, ineffective supplies that don't actually solve the problem. These guys use the real shit! One of the treatments was a caramel-colored gel the roaches eat, throw up, and then other roaches eat that vomit back at the nest. They also used roach birth control to stop future generations from hatching, as well as a powder injection below the skin to make the area dry and uncomfortable for roaches. Our technician, Minor, was great - friendly, polite, upbeat, and fast. The apartment always smelled amazing after he left. I am so impressed by how Frank handled our bizarre indoor mosquito problem and how generous he was with his time and knowledge. He actually suggested trying non-toxic, DIY solutions before hiring them to come out. He gave my husband and I a great education about the lifecycle and breeding habitat of mosquitoes (ie I didn't know they could lay eggs in such a tiny amount of standing water.) We had consulted two companies prior, one who wanted to charge up to $650 (!!!) to evaluate and spray in our relatively small apt and backyard without even seeing where the problem stemmed from. It was a huge relief to speak to Frank, try some of his tips, and know he's there if we do need further treatment. My building is contracted with Absolute Death. Frank and Mike are great to work with. Both are nice, patient, knowledgeable guys. We've had roach infestations off and on and this is the only company to get to the root of the problem. For $100, I paid for the "initial treatment" as part of our building contract. These guys have delivered me from the evil that is cockroaches. My landlord sends in a monthly exterminator that does absolutely ZERO to actually get rid of bugs. I freeze all organic waste for composting, keep my kitchen spotless, and take out recycling daily. But it's not a match for a particularly disgusting restaurant that opened underneath me sending swarms of bugs to crawl on my countertops at night. I tried everything. After reading the reviews online, I decided to give Absolute Death a try. I also liked the idea of doing business with a neighborhood vendor. I called and Frank answered the call. I explained the problem we were having which seemed to be flour beetles. I told him I had captured a few and could bring them over. He said to "take as many photos of them as possible and email him the photographs". I did this... Never received an email response nor a phone call. I called and left a message requesting a call back. Again, no response. Dealing with these unwanted pests is stressful enough. One should not have to deal with such unprofessional and unacceptable business practices. I called for a quote and Frank was very professional as well as informative. He provides you with three options for extermination services as well as discount conditions. Everything is pretty much up front. This professional lets the consumer know what he or she is getting. Other exterminators give you very little feed back before they show up and then give you some crazy quote without foundation. Frank was upfront about his pricing and let you know what they same would fall between before seeing the sight and then if agreeable you can schedule a date and time. I'm not going to lie but I definitely put off writing this review because I was scared to jinx myself! I moved into my current place in January 2014 and quickly found out that I had roommates who do not pay rent. I have a general fear of anything with more legs than me and just simply cannot function in that type of environment. I chose AD because of the name alone and boy am I glad I did. I got the $250 treatment which includes baiting, spraying the kitchen and bathroom and also drilling a hole into the bottom of my kitchen cabinet -- leaving insect poison near the possible nest -- and then resealing. I also asked that they spray other areas of my apartment, including the bedroom and living room. The spray was pet friendly (Lola the Cat is still very much alive and kicking) and smelled like mint. The technician arrived on time and answered both me and my mom's annoying ass questions. My mother does not play games, she followed him from room to room to make sure he sprayed everything and then some. He followed through with a smile. I think they even hugged at the end! It's been over a year and things have gone exceptionally well. *knock on wood* I recommended the service to my friend who had a much larger issue. Utterly let down. After being mansplained to about carpenter ants versus pavement ants I had a bad taste in my mouth. The technician was kind enough. We used absolute death in 2104 when we were renovating our current apartment. We live in a very old building and before we started out renovation the building inspector saw many signs of roaches, so we wanted to make sure that we didn't have old roaches running around in our new construction. Absolute Death showed up on time and were very professional. They did wall injections around our wet walls which kept us from seeing any signs of roaches for almost two years, which is remarkable considering that we live in an old building. These guys are great. I discovered mice at about eight and a half months pregnant and totally freaked out. I called them at midnight on a Saturday and got an incredibly nice person to talk me through my options. Two days later they were at my apartment doing the works. They generally ask that you wait two weeks before calling them back (there is a warranty) but after ten days of no activity I saw droppings and called back. Because I was pregnant and probably more anxious than most people to get rid of the mice they came back right away, which I appreciated. Turns out there was nothing else to be done and I think they were right that it just takes a few weeks because after catching two with their traps I've yet to see any activity a month later. My girl and I moved into an apartment in the upper west side, and the building management was already using Avalon pest control as their pest control contractor. We had a growing German roach infestation and wanted it taken care of immediately. I really wanted to give Absolute Death a better review. Back when we first got our place in October they were the most price competitive and most responsive ones to our massive cockroach infestation and got the job done. Based on that good experience we decided to start a year plan with them. They charged $125 for the initial spraying, gave us a deal to treat the outside and the inside for $75, and promised they would follow up with a receipt and contract, and when to make the next appointment. Fast forward to multiple phone calls and emails to the guys asking for the contract and how we move forward from here to make the next appointment and now it's just radio silence. It's been over a month, no one has gotten back to me, and I've been forced to realize they may never, and that we should have only paid for the one treatment because it seems like they are unable to follow through. Not to mention we are seeing signs of bugs again, despite keeping a very clean house and personally caulking every single crack and crevice I could find. These guys are worse than Time Warner. You get a two hour window and they show up an hour AFTER the 2-hour block, without a phone call giving you a heads up. They've missed their block 3 times with me. Very inconvenient if you're a working person or have a kid who needs a nap. And by the way, they were back three times because the German roaches continued returning after their treatment. Mike is very nice, but I wasn't paying for niceness. AND, their service will charge you full price for follow up visits when the problem persists...unless you contract them for like 6 visits. I called them about 2 years ago due to a mice issue we had. They came in set up bait and glue traps showed me areas that the mice were coming in and filled as many holes as they could and I had a contractor to cover larger areas. With in 2 weeks we had caught all the mice an ever since then they service my home each month so we have not had a major problem again. They are very fairly priced and most important they come ASAP when I call if I have an issue.. They also spray my home for ant and water bugs and use a spray that is ok with animals and young children. Mike who is the guy who services me is always very helpful. Absolute death is fantastic. I called them when I discovered I had a pretty bad cockroach infestation a few years ago. Everyone I talked to told me that no matter what exterminator I used they would probably have to come back a few times to completely get rid of the roaches. Not true! I purchased the Level 2 treatment and Absolute Death was true to its name and wiped the bugs out in one shot. EXCELLENT SERVICE ALL AROUND!!!!! Customer service is great, very informative, organized and courteous but most important they get the job done. Back in September I learned that the building I live in is infested with BED BUGS... needless to say I was beyond upset. Absolute Death was great in treating the problem. They were very precise on what I had to do to make the mission a success. They use organic products which made it safe for my young son and my dog. I am not sure how bad the problem could have gotten but I understand getting rid off bed bugs is far from easy, but Absolute Death got it done in one shot.
