We don't like to review a business with a large home project for at least a month or two after completed. This way if something goes wrong or we have questions about the update, we can still gather info to give a thoughtful and thorough review. This being said we are very satisfied with the team at Above and Beyond Pool Remodeling. We have a 13 year old pool that started to show signs of chipping. The experience we had from sales, to the office through to the onsite teams was excellent. Special shout out to the project manager Kevin who patiently answered all our questions (we had a lot of concerns), stayed in touch daily even on days the crew was not expected onsite, while always being professional in his approach to the project. AND THEN we had a family of ducks hatch & homestead in our pool ! 5 weeks of ducklings & our pool was a disaster!!! I was having a difficult time determining which pool company to use as my husband worked with several people who had pool remodeling nightmare stories to share. Some of them taking up to six months to complete. Confused and leary, I decided to go strictly off of review rating when choosing Above and Beyond. I go into every customer service interaction with a very critical eye, ( I train customer service professionals for technology companies.) Everything from the first interaction to final inspection was seamless, professional, friendly, and without disappointment. Ray was my onsite project superintendent. He explained everything to me stage by stage and was present at my home to oversee the work that was being done, making sure that it was up to standards and specifications. He was awesome! We had our pool fully remodeled November & December of 2023. Overall, we are happy with the completed project, but it was one of the most stressful renovations we've had to date. Pros: Showroom experience was great- plenty of options and explanations provided. Quality of the work was excellent once attention to detail was paid and presented issues were resolved. Price was fair. Friends and family we've had over summer love our new pool, and we are happy with it. Work competed quickly (but hindsight proves probably too quickly). Cons: Communication, communication, communication and quality control/site manager oversight. If supervision by myself or husband hadn't been provided- pool pump equipment was initially installed so close to our home stucco that a single piece of paper wouldn't even fit in the space between. Overspray of pool interior onto interior tiles and gaps were initially left at the water line. Outrageous overpricing by a outsourced electrician that was only caught because my husband is knowledgeable in that line of work. Poor quality travertine pieces with cracks were laid on the pool deck that needed to be flagged by us and replaced. Invisible drain that was listed in contract was left out due to a decision made between masonry and site manager while we were not present. Again- all these issues were fixed, but the process required us to miss work to make sure we could oversee that necessary repairs be made. It was said to me many times that my attention to detail saw what most others wouldn't, and that the issues with our project manager was due to personal issues... Newest review: over the course of a year, the work of a pool has held up great but I started noticing sinking pavers that are allowing water to accumulate next to our home. Since mid-November- I found that no one answers the phones at the office- my initial contact attempt was met with a non-functional answering machine. I've since sent several emails and a left voicemail to both the operations manager and warranty manager. The last I heard any sort of response was the week of Thanksgiving that the warranty manager was out for the holiday and my information was forwarded. I am entirely aware of the holiday season, but find that 4 weeks is plenty of time to at least send a quick email, make a phone call indicating that this will be looked into/resolved. read more

We had a great experience from quote to finish. We worked with Troy and Denise for all of the project prep and then had Matt as our project manager. The final product is excellent. We ran into some bumps along the way but with clear communication to and from Matt, he quickly resolved every concern we had. I spent 35k on a pool remodel in 2023 including 2 lighted waterfalls and Omnihub control features, and pebble tec. 9 months from completion and the water feature leaks through the grout installed ( can't use the waterfalls) and the Omnihub which is a mess (stay away from those units ) as none of the lighting features work correctly and then get told, all future issues with the Omnihub are not covered! It's not even a year!!! I never missed a payment when building. I have been patient. I never post on Yelp but I'm done! The customer service has been very poor. Have to call or text again and again to get any action. Pebble Tec is fine but other two thirds of the remodel don't perform. My experience is your gain! Beware! 7/28/24 Response to owner. I took months calling around to find a company that could do our extensive project that included a complete remodel of our pool interior and exterior, a custom BBQ and several thousand sq. feet of exterior tile work. The team at Above and Beyond were great though the entire process. Sales was quick and professional, gave me lots of options, with no pressure whatsoever, and detailed out the pricing which was fair and reasonable. Throughout the project they kept in touch regarding the start dates, each phase of the project and what I could expect as it went on. Any issues that came up they were quick to address and work with me on, and there were at best a few minor issues we quickly got around, like with any large project. One of the best things about them is their communication and they will give you a clear timeframe when things can start, unlike many other companies that will give very vague estimates at best. I am very happy with my remodeled pool! Above and Beyond did an excellent job on the interior and tile. All of the crews that came out were professional and did great work. I have Aqua Cool interior, GeoStone Tile, and Tea and Cream deck color. If you are worried that Aqua Cool is going to be too light - its not! That is my favorite part about the new pool. I ran into some issues with the deck finish that took awhile to resolve. But I have to commend Mike Sandoval because he hung in there and continued to work with me until I was happy with the finish. I wouldn't get decorative concrete finish because that is not their specialty, but if you get regular lace pattern deck, they do that very well. I had my 35-year-old play pool and pool deck resurfaced by Above and Beyond. I did my research and had multiple companies visit to quote the project. From the start, Above and Beyond stood out above the rest. Mike was very upfront and straightforward about what needed to be done to bring my pool into this century. Many seem to really pride themselves in poor quality work, nightmare scheduling and unjustified cost over runs. NOT here and thankfully not this time. We got quality that was above and beyond our picky expectations. Scheduling was impressive. Through Mike the owner and Matt our job supervisor we always knew what to expect and when to expect it. NO cost over runs! Not one penny and their bids was extremely competitive. Update 6/1/2021. 30 minutes after posting this review, Michael Sandoval not only responded but reached out to schedule time today to discuss my experience. And not only to talk, he wanted to come out to see and talk. I feel he completely understands what happened, what communication breakdowns occurred and will sincerely use this as an opportunity to help his team grow. We sincerely wanted to write a 5 star review and a lot was positive up to the completion of the aggregate. Sales was fine, picking out surfaces was great, communication was good and they showed up on the date and time promised. So why the 3 stars? No walk through to start the project as repeatedly stated, had no idea who was in charge and much of what follows could have been avoided had someone cared. The workers showed up and did great work...a day or days ahead of the emails letting us know when they would be there. That's a great thing. And all that work seems like it was done with skill and care. But once the payment to 90% happened, we had to do the math for the office folks, they sprayed. And then it took 8 weeks to finish. Four weeks of that receiving notice for final payment. Couldn't get the Popups back in. Helps when you ensure O rings in place, but they didn't mark which heads went where, blamed our manifold which was replaced 3 years ago, until they came and looked at it. Then went on about how the salesperson messed up the contract and if he had done his job we would have to pay for new heads. Took almost 2 weeks to see if the manufacturer had the engineering diagrams, they did not. Failed to put back our flush returns, claimed they would not work. Hence waiting to do this review. I found and put in flush mount returns. Had they saved what they took out it would have been easy. Finally had Manu rep come out and this is where I finally lost my cool after asking for time lines and plans to finish the pool. The rep was great as he realized I knew about my pool. I was sick of the excuses from Above and Beyond. I asked them to have Micheal the Owner call me. That still has not happened, but the heads were finally put in about 10 days later. And I hope we don't need warranty work, because I am sure they won't appreciate this review, but this is how a Veteran owned company treated another Veteran. And I realize they had Covid issues, sent a foreman/supervisor who was no longer with them at some point right after the major parts were done. But they also knew I have 15 to 20K more work from tile to pool automation to be done over the next 2 years. My advice to them is to listen to your customers, don't send inexperienced workers to resolve issues and be careful not to imply customers don't know what they are talking about. My flush returns arrived and installed... so they do exist and I did have them prior to the start of this project. read more
